Love and Buttercream

Bought a 1st anniversary cake from here and it was a disaster. Difficult to work with and then received a cake with missing decorations/accents. I sent an email request in a month in advance, as they prefer. More than a week later no one had followed up. I call and they need to check. No call back. I call again. I ask if they can take payment to ensure it will be made. Not yet but she'll call back. Then finally I was able to pay a week out. I double confirmed by phone that everything I had provided in writing the the picture on the left below was possible to create. Missing the accents on top and bottom. Tasted stale. I've tried reaching out by phone and social media and customer service is non-existent. I've shared this experience with my friends and we won't be back.

When I first called Love and Buttercream to explain my soon-to-be husband doesn’t like cake but loves pumpkin pie and the response was “of course we can make you a wedding pie!” I knew we had come to the right place. Our tasting appointment was so fun and delicious and we were thrilled to find out that “I do” could be added to the top of the pie in crust! When we walked into our reception to cut our pie, my eyes filled with tears because it looked even better than I imagined and my new husband thought it was so special that I honored his distaste for cake, lol. Thank you for making my vision come to reality, Love and Buttercream! Your attention to detail, customer helpfulness, and delicious desserts set you apart!

We had Love & Buttercream make our wedding and rehearsal dinner cakes for our 10/19/19 wedding. The cakes tasted AMAZING - we were blown away by how good every bite was even just at our tasting. Every single flavor we tried was delicious. We had a 3 tier cake for our wedding with vanilla cake and fresh strawberries with champagne buttercream. Last minute I decided to add another cake for our rehearsal dinner and the team put together a seasonal pumpkin spice latte 2 tier cake that was amazing. We also loved that we didn't have to freeze a top tier - they give you a free small cake for your anniversary. Andrea was so nice and easy to work with, thank you!

Love and buttercream did a beautiful job for our wedding. The dessert table was amazingly displayed and the stands matched our decor perfectly. The cake was excellent and everyone loved the desserts. Thank you Love and Buttercream!

Simply a great experience working with them! Our cake was beautiful and was delivered to the venue on time, with no issues. It tasted phenomenal and all the guests commented on how much they liked it. I personally LOVED the Champagne buttercream. Andrea was great to work with and super sweet. However, when she went on vacation there was no else in the business that could take our final payment, which we wanted to be sure was timely. Overall this was not a big issue and didn't affect my opinion on working with them. We can't wait to enjoy our one-year anniversary cake, which I think is a great reason to choose this bakery :)

I have used Love & Buttercream celebrations, holidays, birthdays, and just because "treat yo self" for years now so choosing them for our wedding cake was a no-brainer. Everything they make is delicious! Victoria is super easy to work with, when we met with her for our tasting we really had no idea what we wanted our cake to look like, she walked us through ideas and helped us do a bit of research as well.

Love and Buttercream was fantastic to work with from the tasting to the wedding day! We are still getting compliments a month later! We ordered extra cake, and they still ran out because so many guests wanted second helpings. Our small cake for cutting was beautifully decorated and was a perfect vision of what I had described. They completely exceeded our expectations!

I went to multiple cake tastings to find "the one" and honestly, no other vendor compared to Love and Buttercream. Their tasting process was so perfect and unique! You could easily mix and match different cakes with different buttercreams right in the moment. It was so great and efficient! The whole process was so organized and professional, from start to finish. Once we signed, I barely worried about a thing! They handled communicating with delivery to my venue and I didn't do a thing. It was GREAT. Of course, the main thing was the cake! It was SOOO good. We had two different flavors and everyone LOVED it. I heard rave compliments all night long about how it was the best cake they've ever had...and I totally agreed! The design was also beautiful. They listened to my every desire and it came out exactly how I wanted it. Thanks, Love and Buttercream Team, for all your hard work! It was perfect!

Working with Victoria was a pleasure -- she was incredibly helpful at every turn, and she deserves a ton of credit! The cake was stunning, and the mini cider mill donuts spectacular (we received many comments complimenting the food)! We couldn’t have imagined a better bakery to work with on our special day!

We ordered a beautiful 3 tiered cake for our wedding, as well as macarons, sugar cookies with our initials, sandwich cookies, and buckeyes from L&B. The cake and desserts were going to be one of the highlights of evening. But when are cake NEVER arrived, we were so disappointed. The many calls that were made to contact the bakery were unanswered and the automatic out of office email was incredibly frustrating. My mom, my aunt, and our event coordinator frantically tried to figure out what to do next. They did not want the night to go on without a cake or cake cutting pictures. So, my aunt spent in hour from my wedding to go pick up a cake and other desserts from holiday market. We finally heard from L&B the next afternoon. They apologized profusely and stated that our desserts were never listed for delivery. They gave us a full refund and and paid for the desserts they we had to go out and purchase. They also delivered the cake the next day. L&B said that our wedding would be a learning experience for them, but i did not want to be a learning experience. I JUST wanted a cake for my wedding.

Delicious and Professional...I didn't have to worry about a thing on our wedding day! Highly Recommend!

Wedding cake was DRY!!!!! We chose a 4 tiered cake for our day, and it was so hard to keep a smiling face for the photographer when we fed each other a piece. We also ordered a gold pedestal, something that was discussed in our cake tasting and upon time of order, but to our displeasing surprise, our cake was delivered sitting on top of a piece of gold CARDBOARD. No one reached out prior to notify us of this change (if they had, we still would have been disappointed, yes, but at least would have had time to purchase our own pedestal), and no one reached out to us after the wedding to apologize. I had to be the one to reach out to inquire about what happened. Giving 1 star because they made the cake at least look like the picture I provided, which all in all wasn’t very hard, it was just painted streaks of buttercream. Overall, very disappointed.

Form the cake tasting process, to ordering, to it being at the wedding, everything was perfect! We went with a modest cake (served 65), but it was gorgeous and delicious! Two layers were apple cake with salted caramel buttercream and bourbon-pecan buttercream, and the other layer peanut butter cake with salted caramel buttercream. It was sooo good! We even had guests emailing us after the wedding asking where we got the cake from! Also, we left flowers and our cake topper at our venue and when they delivered the cake, they decorated it and it was done beautifully.

Love & Buttercream did an amazing job on our wedding cake! The tiered cake looked exactly the way I had envisioned, and everything was delicious. We had three different flavor combinations, and we heard from our guests all night how they switched plates to try the different flavors and how great everything tasted. I can't wait for a new excuse to order another cake from here!

We tested the cakes and weren't too pleased. They tasted salty and off. Some of our friends have had the same experience with them...

Excellent gluten-free options! Victoria was great to work with. Our tiered wedding cake was a gluten-free, semi-naked cake with fruit. It looked gorgeous and tasted fantastic. Even the texture was perfect. For most of our guests, we did two larger sheet cakes. These came out great, too.

Love & Buttercream did a wonderful job on our wedding cake! They have so many unique options (basil, champagne and lavender buttercream!) and everything they offer is delicious! I previously purchased other desserts and birthday cakes from them and was always so impressed so when we got engaged I knew I wanted to use them for the wedding cake. We ended up ordering chocolate cake with raspberry filling and almond buttercream. It was absolutely delicious! The almond buttercream was slightly savory so helped balance the sweetness of the rest of the cake. (My husband and I took the rest of the cake home and we ate it all week after the wedding - we didn't want to share!) Not only do they create wonderful desserts but they are also very committed to great customer service. They are very responsive and so friendly! Also, my husband and I were trying to keep costs down in certain areas of the wedding and they were very accommodating in helping us figure out a way to have them as our cake vendor but keep the cake within our budget. We will definitely be using them for future events, desserts and I can't wait to order our anniversary cake from them!

Love and Buttercream were unbelievably helpful during the wedding process. They were accommodating, kind and delivered exactly what I had envisioned. Every step of the way they went above and beyond. They even allowed us to do an at home cake tasting due to mine and my husband's difficult work schedules. Not only did I end up with a beautiful wedding cake, but it was designed around the fact that I am gluten free! They were able to take all the reference pictures I provided and produce the wedding cake of my dreams. I would highly recommend the hummingbird cake...it was a huge hit!

We've stopped into L&B before to get cookies or cakes for special occasions and knew I wanted them to make my wedding cake. The staff was so friendly and wonderful to work with. Our cake turned out fantastic and we received many compliments. Thank you L&B!

Our cake was incredible. It was beautiful, very unique (they can truly do anything), and super tasty. Their cakes are seriously some of the best I've ever had - great texture, rich flavor, perfect frostings/fillings. Highly highly recommend.

Our cake looked exactly how I pictured it and described my vision to the girls at L&B. It was perfect and they worked together seamlessly with my floral vendors to incorporate real flowers. The cake flavors were absolutely delicious and everyone loved it! Can't wait to eat our top layer on our anniversary!

I had ordered a last minute cake from L&B several months before for my mother-in-laws birthday and it was done perfectly, so I decided to see if they would be willing to make a very custom cutting cake for our wedding. We were going to be serving doughnuts to our guests for dessert, and wanted a cutting cake that would be on-theme with that. I was worried that it was going to be too expensive and that we wouldn’t be able to do, but I sent over a photo of what I was looking for and requested a tasting. The tasting was amazing and they worked with us to find a cake that was actually under the budget I’d set. I was still slightly nervous about how well they were going to execute the vision I had, but when I saw it on my wedding day, I couldn’t have been happier. It was EXACTLY what I had wanted, and went perfectly with the rest of our display. The ladies at L&B were amazing, the cake was amazing, and I was thrilled with this experience. Thanks for helping us make the dessert table of our dreams!

Love and Buttercream was incredible to work with! From day one they were so attentive and helped us get exactly what we wanted for our wedding. The desserts were incredible and were absolutely raved about. Victoria was such an huge help in our planning process and we cannot thank her enough for making our day perfect!

Our cake was absolutely beautiful and SO DELICIOUS!

Worked with Love and Buttercream through Waterview Loft wedding venue. We picked a half chocolate cake with almond icing and half almond cake with almond icing. Guests commented on the double almond really surprising them and being more delicious. Design turned out better than I expected. Places to improve: Emails I sent had a slow response. Cake tasting was about what I thought it would be in terms of amount- though the bakery is tiny and leaves little room for the table squeezed in the corner right by the door. Made me wonder if there was any place in the back to have it instead? Felt like I was really pushing it asking to use their restroom.

Our cake was so pretty and delicious, and the whole design process was a breeze! Cake tasting is definitely every groom's favorite part!!!! :) The buttercream is slightly overwhelming, but in my opinion, it's always better to have too much and remove it, rather than not enough!

This cake is amazing! We have been coming here for about a year now and it was the first place we thought of when we went to pick a wedding cake. They make it easy for you to do a tasting by giving a " take home" option which worked awesome with our busy schedules. When the cake was delivered they put on the garnishes that I had and it looked amazing. The actual cake is the best cake I have ever had. We will be using them for a long time to come.

Love and Buttercream was great when it came to our wedding. The tasting was easy to plan, and they worked with us since we do not live the in the area. They set up a time that was convenient for us to come in, and had our selections ready to go when we arrived. The cake we had at the shop was incredible! They even accommodated our request to try an extra type of buttercream. We received a write -up of exactly what we agreed upon for the cake. Flash forward to wedding day: The cake, in my opinion, looked disastrous. We requested an ombre, which was somewhat executed, but was not what we had discussed. The finished product looked block-y and like a kid had made it. The middle tier turned out beautifully. We received many compliments on the cakes design from our guests, and it obviously did not ruin our wedding, it just was not what I was expecting to get. The taste of the cake was just okay, it seemed a little dry. Overall, it tasted like a typical 'wedding cake'. I think as Love and Buttercream continues to work events, they will improve. I would recommend, as long as you are prepared to set up follow-ups, pictures, and a very detailed design plan for your vision.

After our tasting with Love and Buttercream, we were so excited for our wedding cake! There are so many delicious options to choose from to create a cake that speaks to you and your spouse. We had a four tier cake with a separate flavor on each tier and every one was scrumptious! The staff was a pleasure to work with, the cake was delivered without any issue and was absolutely beautiful. We received so many complements on how tasty the cake was; there was not a slice a to spare. If you're looking for a cake that will not disappoint you or your guests, go with Love and Buttercream.

We are so happy with our choice to get a Love and Buttercream cake for our wedding! They were so helpful and easy to work with during the planning process even though we waited until the last minute. They put together a beautiful custom 4-tier cake with a different intricate design and ombre color for each tier. It was exactly as we envisioned and fit our theme perfectly. The flavors were incredible, delicious and fresh and we received so many compliments from our guests. It could not have been more perfect, thank you!!

The cakes were delicious, and I had several guests give rave reviews about the taste. I particularly loved our chocolate cake which had chocolate chips in it... so scrumptious! It is the fabulous taste that allows me to continue to give a four star rating, despite the second half of this review. The one complaint that I had was that I spent extra time and money to work with the consultant on a surprise groom's cake, sending an extremely detailed description, as well as photographs, of exactly what I wanted, and yet they completely missed the mark. Love and Buttercream admits that there was a miscommunication between the consultant and the designer, and they have agreed to refund my money for the groom's cake, but it's still a bummer that what should have been a pretty easy and funny cake ended up leaving my groom and our guests confused, seeing as it wasn't the correct item. :(

The staff at Love and Buttercream were great to work with! There were plenty of samples and recommendations which made it easy for us to decide. We had a small cake for the traditional cake cutting as well as mini bars and other treats for a dessert table. They helped us figure out the numbers and handled our small changes leading up to the day. They were also super helpful with keeping the Groom's cake a surprise! Everyone loved the desserts and honestly couldn't get enough. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the Metro Detroit area. :)

My husband and I purchased our cupcakes and small 1 tiered wedding cake to cut for our wedding from Love & Buttercream, and it was so amazing! The cupcakes and cake were delicious, the offer the standard flavors and unique ones (Vernors Buttercream, which we did and it was awesome!) The girls in the shop are so nice and really easy to work with. Everything was set up on time and looked exactly how I had envisioned! I would highly recommend them!!

My husband and I purchased or wedding cake from Love and Buttercream and it was so so good! They also helped us incorporate some of our own decorations on the cake to match our wedding reception decor, and it turned out perfect! The girls were so helpful and easy to work with. I visited a few places, but Love and Buttercream gave me immediate confidence. Our tasting was delicious and our guests made it a point to tell me that they enjoyed the cupcakes. Most importantly, they delivered within a tight timeframe just what I ordered. I will be visiting often for treats for home and other occasions.

I am so happy that I stumbled across Love and Buttercream in my search for a bakery to do our wedding cake. Their cakes are just to die for delicious, with the amazing buttercream flavors and cake pairing that they offer! Our wedding was just a couple of weeks ago, and I'm already craving more of the cake (our family ate our way through it pretty quickly afterward, it was so good). Leading up to our big day, Katie, Megan and the L&B team were so friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. They made the process of choosing our cake flavors so fun and easy - and they were happy to allow us two types of cake in our wedding cake that we cut and sheet cakes (one for the bride, one for the groom). We ended up with a vanilla cake with almond filling and champagne buttercream (my choice) and a cornmeal cake with raspberry jam filling and peanut butter buttercream. Both were SO yummy and a huge hit at our wedding!! For the reception, the cake was absolutely gorgeous, and the display with our flowers added in was just perfect. Thank you for your wonderful services and drool-worthy cakes, L&B team! I'd hire you again in a heartbeat :)

Love and Buttercream delivered 200 delicious cupcakes for my wedding! My original cupcake vendor went out of business and Love and Buttercream was able to save the day in a short amount of time! We did 2 take home cake tasting and everything this bakery makes is delicious! I normally don't like frosting, but I loved all of their buttercreams. We loved the berry cupcake with champagne frosting. Our guests loved the double chocolate ones, they went so quick! I may have to order some so I can enjoy one. Delivery & setup fees are very reasonable and they had a very cute square, clear cake stand we were able to rent. I would definitely recommend them!!!

We decided to go along with the new trend of having cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake, and it was the best way to go! Their cupcakes are SO good, and the best part was we were able to get custom icing colors to go with our decor. They were ready for pick up as promised (we would have had them delivered but waited until the last minute so it wasn't an option), and were just as delicious as the samples we tried. It worked out great with people being able to serve themselves, and pick out which flavor they wanted (we did an assortment of vanilla, chocolate, red velvet and carrot cake). I would highly recommend to everyone!

Everyone needs to get their wedding cake (and all of their baked goods) from Love and Buttercream. The owner, Brooke Wilson, is an amazing person who uses local products/supports local businesses and is truly the nicest person you will ever meet. She is so incredibly creative and innovative and will make your wedding cake/cupcakes/dessert table one that will not be forgotten. She will put together an amazing tasting for you and your fiance that will have your heads reeling with the possibilities and stomachs full (and begging for more). We decided to go for a traditional wedding cake and a specialty groom's cake. Brooke rose to the challenge with flying colors. Our wedding was U of M themed so it was even more amazing because she graduated originally from Michigan State (before heading to culinary school). :) She made the most amazing wolverine with a Michigan helmet on and placed him on a football field and the traditional cake was beautiful--elegant yet modern. Plus, everything was delicious and she let us choose as many flavors for different layers as we wanted. We had 3 different flavors of cake. Overall, an amazing bakery/baker. Great value. Delicious. I cannot say enough good things.
