Your wedding is the most important day of your life. It is a celebration of where you’ve been and a commitment to where you will go together. Shared with all who are dear to you, it is a day of excitement, anticipation and more than a little nervousness. I am here to alleviate that nervousness. Through a process of careful planning, your ceremony will honor exactly who both of you are and your wedding will be everything that you are hoping for. A little about me … I am ordained and served as a chaplain, and as a pastor to five congregations. I received my Master of Divinity Degree from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary on Northwestern’s campus in Evanston Il and my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois in Champaign. Over the years I have celebrated over 100 weddings for couples from various faith traditions in a wide variety of settings. My husband has been my soulmate for 15 years. I would absolutely recommend Steven Reid to officiate your wedding! My now husband and I initially had a hard time finding someone to officiate our wedding. While searching online, I came across Love is Love and I’m so glad I did! Reverend Steve was amazing from the very start. From our initial phone conversation, all the way until the wedding, he was so kind and professional throughout the entire process. We met in person a couple of months prior to the wedding to go over details and Steve made us feel so comfortable. He was so easy to talk to, as if we knew him our whole lives. He really makes you laugh too! It showed that he really knew what he was doing and he took stress off of us regarding the ceremony, and handled everything so greatly. He was very well organized and had everything in place for us to successfully apply for our marriage license and certificate. He made our ceremony so meaningful without saying too much or too little. It was perfect! After our wedding, our family and friends said such great things to us about Steve. He truly did an amazing job and made our day even more special. Steve was a wonderful officiant to work with! We had such a fun time planning our ceremony with him, and he helped us with any and all questions that came up throughout the process. Steve gave excellent suggestions on what to add to our ceremony and made us feel comfortable throughout the process. Steven was amazing for our wedding! He met with us to discuss expectations, incorporated our love story in a way that made our guests cry tears of joy, and was even thinking ahead for logistics about photos (stepping to the side during the kiss, and also advising guests in a cool way that it was a phone free ceremony). My parents loved that he was willing to pray with them before the ceremony, and also had nothing but good things to say about him. Thank you for being so wonderful for our wedding day!

Steve made our micro wedding/elopement ceremony absolutely wonderful! We met virtually as we live out of town, and Steve explained the process to us and sent us all the information about his services in a timely manner. Steve’s script is unique, inclusive, and heart-felt and we couldn’t have loved it more! As people who are not great with public speaking, Steve made us feel so comfortable when reciting the vows and ring exchange. Plus, Steve handles all of the after ceremony paperwork which is SO helpful! Highly recommend Steve’s services!

Reverend Steven Reid performed our ceremony. We requested that religion be completely left out and he respected our decision 100%. He did a beautiful job and wrote a wonderful ceremony for us. Having Rev. Steve Reid was a great experience! He is so kind and takes the time to get to know you and your future spouse so he can create a wedding service that is truly personal. He is also so knowledgeable and can cater the ceremony to your exact style. Many of our guests asked us if we knew him prior to getting engaged or if he was a family friend because of how personalized our ceremony was, it felt like he was one of us. In short, our ceremony was really perfect and it’s because he took the time to get to know us and, if something didn’t go exactly as planned, he was able to roll right along with it! Working with Rev. Steve was easy, and we enjoyed working with him. We started with a Zoom meeting before we made the decision, and Rev. Steve was clearly more professional than other officiants we reached out to. We had an in-person planning meeting for him to get to know us and go through the script and options. I had little experience in doing this, but Rev. Steve was flexible and kind and directed the group very well during rehearsal. On the wedding day, Rev. Steve demonstrated leadership when he coordinated with us before the ceremony started. I would definitely recommend him!

Rev. Steve Reid truly made our day BEYOND special! When my husband and I were looking for officiants, we honestly did not know what to expect. Secretly, we were often doubting that there was no way our ceremony would be close to "personal" having just met our officiant within months leading up to the wedding; however, that could not have been farther from the truth with Rev. Reid. From the initial consultation call, to our in-person meeting about the processional/ceremony, to the continuous email exchanges leading up to the rehearsal and the rehearsal ceremony itself, we truly felt so supported by Rev. Reid every step of the way. You can feel and see his passion for what he does, which spoke volume to my husband and I. Steven was the absolute best wedding officiant we could've asked for. He was professional, quickly responsive, personable, kind, flexible, and easy to work with. He took the time to get to know us over a video call and also met with us for coffee to get to know us and discuss our hopes and plans for the wedding day. We truly had multiple people at our wedding tell us they assumed Steven was a family friend of ours by the way he m spoke and made everything so personal to us. While we planned the ceremony with Steven, he provided a variety of examples, options, and outlines that made it much easier for us to start building something special together with him, but he made sure we knew we could make it look like whatever we wanted it to. He took all our preferences to heart, and provided us with guidance and suggestions as to the best way to incorporate all that we wanted to into the ceremony. He went line by line making sure we were happy with every detail, and never made us feel judged for anything we decided we did or didn't want to do or say. He was able to distill so much information into a succinct and beautiful speech. It couldn't have been a more perfect ceremony. He also turned in our marriage license for us after the ceremony, saving us a trip. It was the perfect extra touch! We can't recommend him enough!

We were lucky enough to find Rev. Steve for our wedding. When we first met he came totally prepared with everything we would need to officiate our wedding. We decided we were going to do a more custom ceremony and he was super helpful with giving us cues to make it our own. We hired Steve for our wedding ceremony that was held at our venue and had a wonderful experience! He was flexible through the whole process and in meeting us close to our home to plan out the ceremony and get to know us in person. He was beyond on time for everything (huge relief!) and responsive always and helped keep us calm the day of. The ceremony was perfect and exactly what we envisioned for our day! Pastor Steve officiated my wedding in August 2022. My husband and I had a pretty specific vision for what we wanted the ceremony to look like in terms of length, type of content, and personal additions. Pastor Steve was a fabulous steward of this vision. Our ceremony was everything we hoped it would be. Beyond officiating on the day, Pastor Steve was fabulous to work with during the planning process. He was easy to get to know, flexible in times to meet, and really took the time to learn my and my husband's story so he could speak about us at our ceremony. If you are looking to hire an officiant, I could not recommend Pastor Steve highly enough.

If I could give Reverend Steven 10 stars on here, I would - he was that great! We are so happy with our decision to have Reverend Steven officiate our ceremony and to tell our love story to our families. He met with us multiple times before our ceremony, took the time to understand our story, and pulled out the best details from us to understand what brought us to our wedding day. His style is very flexible (integrating as much or as little faith as we desired into our ceremony) and was extremely helpful throughout the entire process by guiding us and providing many options to make our ceremony a breeze. He even made a few day before updates for us, as COVID had impacted some guests' ability to join. Overall we are so pleased with Reverend Steven's professionalism and highly highly recommend booking him for your ceremony!

Steve was incredible to work with! He met my husband and me twice before our rehearsal, and Steve was an attentive listener and very organized. He walked us through thoughtful questions to learn more about our goals for our ceremony, elements we wanted to include or avoid, and learned about us as a couple. He was very open about his process & addressed every question I had. We got to review a full script of the ceremony with plenty of time to review & make changes, and Steve was open to all of the edits we requested. The resulting ceremony felt more special & personal than I realized was possible. Many of our guests asked how we met Steve, and said it seemed like we knew each other long before the wedding. He made my husband and I feel SO comfortable, heard, and the ceremony was personal & emotional (in the best way!). If you get the opportunity to work with Steve you'll quickly see that he is professional, mindful, organized, and will help craft a special ceremony that reflects your journey as a couple. We had Pastor Steve officiate our ceremony at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Lincoln Park. We had an amazing experience with Pastor Steve from start to finish. He met with us twice to get to know us and our story as a couple. We were out of town for some time and he was very flexible about being virtual or in-person based on our needs. Pastor Steve created a ceremony that perfectly captured what we wanted. He had some great suggestions after getting to know us and was very open to little changes we wanted to make. He made us feel very comfortable and totally ready for the big day when it came around! We loved our ceremony and felt that it was very special, and so did our guests. So many guests of all ages and backgrounds came up to us to tell us how wonderful the ceremony was. Overall, I absolutely recommend you go with Pastor Steve as your officiant.

We found Steven Reid from his online listing, after reaching out to a few possible officiants for our July 1, 2022 wedding. Steven was prompt, welcoming and informal in his communications with us and when we met him over Zoom for an initial meet and greet, we knew right away we wanted to work with him for our wedding. In the preparation (we met online a few times between securing him as our officiant, with emails back and forth), he walked us through a clear and thoughtful process of getting to know us, offering us a clear option that fit our budget for how we’d like our ceremony to go, with various places where we could personalize things. After our “interview” with Steven, he wrote a ceremony script that was very much us and we had very little suggested edits. Steven was such a strong and calm presence during our rehearsal and ceremony itself. Guests were raving about how our ceremony was “SO us” and that had a lot to do with Steven. If you are thinking about working with Steven for your wedding, do not hesitate!

So Thankful We Found Him! I simply can't say enough about Rev. Reid! With pre-wedding counsel and ceremony guidance, he helped us create the ceremony of our dreams. His soothing voice and calming demeanor along with his intelligent sense of humor were greatly appreciated by a nervous Bride and Groom!! He cares deeply and you can feel it. Rev. Reid has an amazing way of making everyone he meets feel special and welcome. We very highly recommend Rev. Reid!!

Reverend Reid was the perfect fit for our dream wedding. He helped us immensely through the planning process (which can be stressful) with his helpful, guiding hand and vast experience. Rev Reid made the perfect officiant for our wedding ceremony! We met in advance so he could get to know us and how we met, as well as what was important to us in our marriage and for the day of the wedding. We had a lot of laughs during those visits and when the date arrived the ceremony felt warm and personal. It also had that element of humor we appreciate! We would highly recommend Rev Reid!
