Lowcountry Pianist & Company has provided me the opportunity to share music in a variety of settings including retirement centers, intimate gatherings in private homes, and grand celebrations including many wedding ceremonies. Lowcountry Pianist's music was one of the things that my family and I were looking forward to the most on our wedding day. I knew I wasn't going to be able to fully experience the music like the guests so that's one of the reasons we got our videographer to film the whole ceremony. I cannot wait to watch it back and listen. One of my favorite memories from the day was hiding out with my parents right as the ceremony was starting while we were waiting to get the cue to come out to walk down the aisle. We got as close as possible to the door without me being seen so we could listen to the music and get a glimpse of everything. My dad even got emotional when Holly and Kathryn played Somewhere Over the Rainbow as that was one of his mom's favorite songs. All of that to say, the part Lowcountry Pianist played in our wedding day really meant a lot to us and we really appreciate all the time and care Holly and Kathryn put into it to make it special! however, some aspects are unfortunately out of our control. When ceremonies do not have a wedding planner or cue person, the musicians have to make appropriate decisions within the moment. As professional musicians it is standard practice when the bridal party is in place to conclude that the bride is ready for her processional and to begin the music.
The musicians enjoyed creating a custom arrangement of your favorite George Strait song for your entrance and they had the opportunity to play the extended version, playing during the unexpected delay and continuing the song throughout your bridal processional until you were standing with Matthew. Their impression is you were waiting to enter later in the song so there would be time for the full version since they knew it was an important selection to you!
Although we now understand you would have preferred for the musicians to start the song over again -- in the moment the musicians chose to continue the music selection. As a team we have provided music for hundreds of weddings and have typically found couples prefer for the music to continue in order to not detract from the intimate moment. Again, I am sorry and I wish we had known your preference in advance and could have adapted based on your vision. We appreciate your understanding as we always try to best adjust when unanticipated situations arise!
