Instead of imposing a look on you, I intentionally watch how you two interact and make each other laugh, waiting to capture the moment the light emphasizes that joy. I’m Ceninye, an artist based in Boston. Portraiture fascinates me. My work has been exhibited nationally, including at the Griffin Museum of Photography, the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I recently earned my BFA. I am a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, with recognition from The New York Times, the YoungArts Foundation, and Lenscratch. My work is held in the collections of Diasporal Rhythms and the Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection in Chicago.
