Lucky 8 Ranch is a private Colorado mountain-view wedding venue on a 3,000-acre working bison ranch about 35 scenic minutes from Steamboat Springs, Colorado. If you’ve been dreaming of wide-open skies, golden hills and a dance floor full of your favorite people, this is that “pinch-me” Colorado wedding setting.
What makes Lucky 8 different is how private and peaceful it feels. Your celebration is the only event on the ranch that weekend, so you’re never sharing views, bathrooms or parking with another wedding. Guests arrive to endless valley and Rocky Mountain views, grazing bison and wildlife in the distance and a ceremony site that actually looks like Colorado.
The reception takes place in a spacious, event tent with a concrete floor and dancefloor for dancing, bistro-style lighting and room for up to 200 guests. Think: sunset cocktails on the lawn, dinner with mountain silhouettes in the background and a packed dance floor once the stars come out. From simple, nature-forward décor to full-on black-tie, the space flexes to fit any style.
As a family-run ranch, our team is calm, kind and extremely hands-on. We know many couples are planning from out of town, so we’re here to make a rural ranch wedding feel easy, not stressful. You bring your favorite licensed vendors; we provide the land, the views, the tented infrastructure and clear guidelines so everyone knows exactly how the day will flow. Most couples choose to bring their own alcohol and hire a professional bartending team so they can customize the bar experience while staying compliant and safe.
Seasonally, Lucky 8 Ranch hosts a limited number of weddings June through October to keep the land — and your experience — pristine. Packages center around what matters most to you: a beautiful, relaxed setting, plenty of time on-site and space for real connection with your guests. You’ll also have access to multiple photo locations (aspen groves, wide-open pastures and postcard-worthy overlooks) and end-of-night cleanup so you can simply float out on a high.

ky 8, when we drove up and saw everything set up we knew it was the right choice. We decided on Lucky 8 after a few phone calls with the owner Nick, looking over photos, and reviewing the packages. There wasn’t any other venue that came close to matching the scenery, seclusion, location, convenience, and price point. It’s great that L8R offers different packages depending on what you want for your wedding. They provided an inventory of items to use including easels, LED light candles, and various other items for decoration and it looked beautiful.
We took multiple visits to the ranch and saw it with and without the tent setup - bringing family and our coordinator to make sure everything was planned out. Nick and his staff were fantastic throughout the planning process, and his experience was helpful for selecting vendors in the Steamboat area. One of the best parts about working with L8R is the ease of communication and flexibility. You’re working directly with them and they make you feel like family.
The location of the ranch was just right for us - it was super easy to get to & from Steamboat (it took our buses less than 30 min) but it’s secluded and private. The ranch is huge, so you’re not disturbed by anything going on around.
On the day of our wedding, Nick and the staff were fantastic. The setup was great and they make it very special - all couples who have a wedding at L8R get to brand their initials in the fence. The weather was great (late July) and all of our guests loved hanging out in the yard. No one expected how beautiful it would be. The sunset was gorgeous, and all of our guests gawked at the beauty. They still talk about it to this day.
We took a sunset photo trip on the side by side and got some incredible photos. We found the bison herd by the Aspen grove which made for some really cool shots.
Overall, we would recommend Lucky 8 to anyone looking to get married in the Steamboat area. We hope that more couples keep making memories at L8R with their families and friends.

They have a large inventory of furniture and decor to choose from, which made it easy to create the event and look we wanted, and they executed it perfectly. The venue itself is beautiful—amazing views, bison roaming nearby, and a fun lawn for cocktail hour, and a nice tent that they can set up however you like. It did take some extra work to find and coordinate all of the 3rd-party vendors needed, but it was worth it and Nick was willing to provide recommendations and answer any questions throughout the process. Highly recommend this place!

Nick and his wife, besides being excellent hosts, are the most genuine people who made our special day feel like it was one of a kind and not just another day for them. They helped us throughout the process, and their knowledge and respect for the land allowed us to have full access to L8R for our wedding.
The venue itself is picturesque with views of Sleeping Giant, rolling hills, bison (up close and personal if you’re lucky), and gorgeous sunsets. Nick helped us get incredible sunset pictures.

The quality of the amenities provided, from the tent to the restrooms to the bars, is top notch. Lucky 8 has an incredible amount of decorations, furniture, games, and more that you can choose from to really make the venue your own. Nick has some features that we could not find anywhere else, that truly made our day so perfect (horse drawn carriage for our ceremony exit).
While we had some weather before the ceremony, the staff at Lucky 8 was quick to adapt and ensure everything went smoothly.

Location: Lucky 8 is a quick 20-minute shuttle ride from Steamboat Springs. The perfect destination wedding town for guests! The scenery is everything you'd want for a Colorado mountain wedding -- mountains, aspen trees, tall grass, and bison!
Inclusions: It is INSANE how much is included with this venue -- nothing that we had ever seen before! From the simple things to string lights, chairs, tables, decor, cocktail tables, etc. -- to some of the most unique items like a motorcycle bar, carriage, 1940s pick-up trucks... the list goes on!
Staff: Nick and team were responsive, helpful, and provided white-glove service to us. They were open to all our different ideas and so flexible.

the ceremony site are unreal! The cocktail / reception area is also awesome - you don't need much in terms of decorations because it's so pretty. The team at the ranch worked with us on how we wanted it to look and they executed everything so well. They were also life savers the day of the wedding because unfortunately, our wedding coordinator did not help with setup like she was supposed to. The ranch team stepped in and made sure everything was absolutely perfect. It's a unique venue that your guests will talk about for years to come!
