Kimberly and her team at Luminous Sounds recently played for us at our ceremony in Long Island City and it was absolutely perfect! They brought so much elegance to our wedding and were able to incorporate both classical and pop music into the ceremony. From day one Kimberly made this process so easy and was always quick to respond with any questions we had. I am beyond happy we chose them to help us celebrate our special day. Kimberly at luminous sounds was really easy to work with! She was very professional and helpful with her recommendations. I was all over the place during the ceremony but when I watch the videos back they played beautifully!! The only thing I was sad about was that because it was drizzling and our ceremony was outside, the musicians stayed in a covered tent so I didn't get to see them play, just heard them from behind me. As said in a few other posts, its hard when your the bride to take it all in. I would definitely use luminous sounds again and I would also recommend to have them for the cocktail hour too so that the bride and groom can really experience them. xo

I knew the second my sister used luminous sounds for her wedding 3 years ago I would use them for mine . They brought such an amazing touch to her ceremony and the music was simply having a string quartet. I used them for my ceremony and cocktail music and i am still getting compliments how great and beautifully they played. Working with Kimberly throughout the process was a breeze she was extremely professional, organized and knowledgeable. She listened to everything I wanted and gave me a lot of advice of when we should play the classical and contemporary music. They have an extremely large list of music to choose from and even give you the option of learning a song you wanted that is not on the lists. I received lots of compliments from my guests at my wedding on my cocktail hour music. I hired a string duo and they played beautifully during my ceremony and cocktail hour. They were easy to hire and offered a questionnaire to make your musical selection easy.

Luminous Sounds did an amazing job at our 03/23/18 wedding at the Dumbo Loft in Brooklyn. The addition of the string music to our ceremony made it feel so special and intimate. Kim was so easy to work with before the wedding and was very helpful in selecting music, etc. On the wedding day she went above and beyond and everything was perfect. I can't say enough great things about Kim and her business and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for an extra special musical touch to their wedding day.

After a little back and forth with my now-husband about ceremony music, I said I wanted traditional strings for my entrance and our recessional. Now comes the crazy part- he wanted to process in with his parents to the theme from the classic movie, 'Superman'. This was his wedding dream... and he got it for our 9/15/18 wedding at an old Gold-Coast mansion in Long Island, NY. Luminous Sounds was recommended to us by our planner, Leah Weinberg of Color Pop Events, and although I barely saw the, they sounded beautiful from what I remember and coordination and payment with the company was quite easy. I highly recommend Luminous Sounds if you're looking for a string quartet!

We found Luminous Sounds through a recommendation from our band. Kim is a true professional, the easiest vendor we communicated with from the get-go. She made everything so EASY and was always there if we had any questions on anything. The music they play ranges from classical to upbeat, pop and contemporary. My bridal procession walked down to Storybook Love (Princess Bride) and for our recession as a surprise for my groom we walked out to May the Force (Star Wars). During cocktail hour the music was upbeat and was a nice touch to have in the background while our guests enjoyed all the food and drinks. All in all, the perfect background to our ceremony and the music tailored to our tastes and preferences. Our guests told us how great they sounded and enjoyed the music just as we had hoped. We couldn't be happier, and highly recommend Luminous Sounds string quartet - a superbly talented group of women.

We used Luminous Sounds for our ceremony and cocktail hour music for our August 18, 2018 wedding. Start to finish, they were an awesome vendor to work with! Throughout the wedding planning process, Kimberly was very professional, friendly and prompt in her responses. Their prices are very fair, but they are also worth every penny. They are extremely talented and provided such a beautiful, unique element to our wedding. On the big day, it got extremely windy and looked like it might rain just as I was walking down the aisle. It fortunately never actually rained, but they were very understanding and flexible in playing through the ceremony until ultimately moving under the tent for cocktail hour. A+ vendor and I highly recommend!

Luminous Sounds is everything you want at your wedding! Their music is elegant and timeless! My husband and I met with Kim, the band leader, to discuss our song choices for the bridal party processional, recessional and cocktail hour. Kim and her team expertly played the bridal processional song “Cant’ Help Falling In Love,” at the precise timing as we requested. During the cocktail hour, our guests were amazed with the wide variety of classic and contemporary music played! From “Here Comes the Sun” to “Zombie,” our guests are still raving about how cocktail hour was truly a stand out event of it’s own because of Luminous Sounds!

The team was punctual and professional. Our guests loved that they played a repertoire of contemporary music. They had fun guessing each song when they hear the first few notes! As the bride, I was busy taking photos during the cocktail hour so I didn't get to appreciate the music as much as I would have liked to. Our wedding was in a wide open field, it was hard to hear my processional song and my guests were still talking when I walked out (I didn't have a bridal party or a rehearsal dinner), so a note to future brides, make sure you have a good cue to make sure all your guests are ready for your arrival before you make your grand entrance.

My mom is a violinist and booked Luminous sounds for my April 27, 2018 wedding at Raphael. They provide such a great selection of classic and popular music, and I was really excited when Signed, Sealed, Delivered made its way onto their repertoire before my wedding because I wanted it for my recessional (they'll learn songs for you for a small fee, but I was excited it was already on there by the time it was time to decide on my program!). I heard the prelude and recessional from the top of the vineyard, where I was hiding waiting for the ceremony, and it was beautiful. I didn't get to hear too much of cocktail hour because of photos, but what I did hear was great and I know the guests enjoyed it! As a heads up, they are unable to play outside unless it's between 60-90 degrees. They were willing to do it in the 50s for me but it poured so it was indoors anyway. I definitely recommend them.

The String Quartet sounded beautiful! They were very professional and easy to work with, and were a great addition to my wedding.

My husband and I are so glad we went with a quartet for our ceremony rather than a DJ. It would have been more cost efficient for us to only have our DJ play but Luminous Sounds was so worth it and we don't regret it one bit. From start to finish, the entire process with engaging Luminous Sounds was easy, organized, and painless. Their repertoire is vast and allowed us to select songs that fit tastes - they even scored songs for us that they didn't have! We chose a mix of classical, pop, hip hop/house, and R&B - it was all played beautifully and added a wonderful and personal touch to our ceremony. They played from guest arrival through our ceremony and really set the tone for our wedding - we started and ended the day strong!

When I hear them start 'At Last' as I walked down the aisle I totally lost it. They were professional and easy to work with. Highly recommend!!

Luminous Sounds provided a strong duet at our ceremony, and a quartet at our cocktail hour. To say they were spectacular would be an understatement! They played everything from Mozart to Red Hot Chili Peppers! Kimberly was an absolute DREAM to work with — so easy to communicate with, and always on top of everything. I can’t thank them enough! Luminous Sound recently played for us at our wedding reception in Greenport. We could not be any happier that we chose Kimberly and Luminous Sound to provided our guests with a most pleasurable sensory experience. The music was absolutely beautiful. As we approached the reception venue on foot with our guests the beautiful sound of the string quartet, playing was gently flowing through the air, drawing us closer. When we arrived we were greeted with one of our favorite songs, which was preformed beautifully. It was the most memorable and beautiful moment standing, with my husband at my side, the sun gently filtered through the Pergola and Beech tree, listening and softly singing along to Sara Barellis' "I choose you". That bespoke moment in time will forever be embedded in our memory. And for that, we cannot thank them enough! Throughout the reception the group played beautifully, all of our guests commented on how great they sounded. We thoroughly enjoyed the elegant simplicity of having a string quartet play at our wedding, and we couldn't be happier with choosing Luminous Sound. Kimberly was an absolute pleasure to work with and in the months and weeks leading up to the wedding, gave us confidence that our wedding day would be perfect. Luminous Sounds was just the perfect fit for our wedding ceremony on 9/23/17. Their repertoire is wonderfully dynamic so it was very easy to choose the perfect songs to represent us as a couple. We also requested to have a special but unusual song played during our recessional but they were on top of it with no hesitations. 10/10, just amazing!

My husband and I got married on 7/7/17 & we had Luminous Sounds for our reception & cocktail hour. I first fell in love with them when I heard them play cocktail hour at our cousins wedding. I knew right then and there I wanted them for my wedding. We started following them on social media and attended numerous events at great restaurants where they performed and they were on point each time. I truly believe that having live music gives your wedding or any event for that matter a whole other vibe that EVERYONE enjoys. Luminous Sounds was the perfect compliment to our church wedding in Garden City at St. Joseph's! Having the trumpet and strings to accompany the organ player, made for the most beautiful wedding music. I'll never forget the Trumpet Voluntary that played while I walked down the aisle. My husband and I got married on 4/22/17 and were so happy that we chose to have an electric violinist from Luminous Sounds play classical music during our ceremony. It added the perfect special touch that we were looking for within the budget we could afford. There honestly is nothing like live music to walk down the aisle to. My now husband said the moment that heard the music change to the bridal march when I was about to walk down the aisle is one that that he will remember forever as it made everything feel so exciting, real and gave him chills as it was so beautiful! There were many classical repertoire song options to choose and the options we chose were played beautifully! Working with Kimberly was so easy and the process was incredibly seamless. Everything was laid out in a simple template for me to complete and she was super timely with communicating if I had any questions. She also was amazing at sending reminder and follow up e-mails. As a side note not related to the beautiful music played Kimberly took a gorgeous picture of me and my husband during our recessional and posted it on instagram which I'm so grateful for because it was absolutely stunning! Just goes to show they go above and beyond their job and truly love what they do! I would 110% recommend Luminous Sounds to any couple who wants to make their wedding ceremony extra special! Kim and Luminous Sounds were fantastic! She was very quick to respond to any and all questions and very accommodating. One thing that I really appreciated was she was able to get an arrangement made of a song my husband and I love, the request was a bit last minute and I was so happy she could come through. For our prelude music they had a really nice variety of repertoire to choose from, I opted for more pop tunes but they had a great selection of more traditional numbers as well.

I hired Luminous Sounds String Quartet for my wedding ceremony and cocktail hour and let me just say, they are FABULOUS!! So easy to work with, affordable and extremely talented. I was very happy with their song selections for classic and contemporary music and my guests are still gushing over how beautifully they played. Working with them was simply perfection and I strongly recommend them, as they provided the perfect extra touch for my wedding.

Luminous Sounds performed at our wedding ceremony at 9/4/16 and I LOVED working with them and what they added to our special day. Most little girls dream of their wedding day and all of the perfect little details that go with it. Well, I can tell you - I wasn't one of those girls. However, the one thing that I did always dream of was having a string quartet at my wedding. Maybe it was those two years of viola in middle school...or maybe it is just something about the culmination of the strings coming together that is just so beautiful... We found Luminous Sounds while at a bridal event after having gotten recently engaged in spring of 2015. After listening and meeting with them, we knew we had to have them play for our wedding. Kim was probably the best and easiest vendor we communicated with from the get-go. She made everything so EASY and was always there if we had any questions on anything. The music they play ranges from classical to upbeat, pop and contemporary. How many grooms can say they walked down to Taylor Swift's (hubby's secret guilty pleasure...shhhh) "Love Story"? They even learned a song for me to walk down to by one of my favorite all-time bands, The Decemberists (The Hazards of Love 4). For whatever reason, the excitement of the day, my dad walking me too fast down the aisle..I didn't get to really hear this song, but it's all okay. Even the photographer commented on how great they were and that they played Metallica while people got to their seats. All in all, the perfect background to our ceremony and the music tailored to our tastes and preferences. We couldn't be happier, and highly recommend Luminous Sounds string quartet - a superbly talented group of women.

My family & I were really appreciative when working with Luminous Sounds to pull of a surprise performance given as a gift to the bride & groom. After watching their videos to get a sense of their style, we thought this would be a fun way to have live music at the cocktail hour that was both classy & contemporary. In talking to them about our audience in attendance, they provided additional suggestions to add to their song list and ultimately played an hours worth of great hits that really pleased the crowd. We also appreciate how they were thoughtful in both their attire and secret set up to blend in behind the scenes, as they began playing when the bride & groom walked into the cocktail hour. The live performance with fun music was a great way to set the tone for the evening and working with them was a pleasure. Couldn't ask for more!

The Illuminate String Quartet was wonderful! We originally were only looking for music for our ceremony but were so happy we decided to have the quartet play our cocktail hour as well. An Excellent Addition to a Wedding We were searching for someone to play Wonderwall by Oasis for our processional, and upon finding Luminous Sounds we were so pleased to find out that Wonderwall is on their popular music playlist! We just had our wedding a week ago and couldn't be more pleased with Luminous Sounds. They played popular songs during our ceremony and cocktail hour. Throughout the planning process Kimberly was a pleasure to work with -- very professional, communicative and detail oriented. My only regret is not being able to attend my own cocktail hour in order to hear them play!

We asked for bouncy Mozart songs and chose the rest of my selections from a list they have. Sounded great! Couldn't have been happier. I also asked them to dress fabulously for our couture wedding and they did. A perfect 5 stars.

We hired Luminous Sounds (string duet format) to provide ceremony and cocktail hour music for our wedding this past September.
