acoustic guitar and sang at cocktail hour. His voice is so smooth and brought an amazing energy to the beginning of the party. He did a fabulous job introducing us and our wedding party into the reception. Jimmy did just the right amount of talking to keep the night running smoothly without doing too much! We sent Spotify playlists to Jimmy before our wedding and he played so many of the songs we had on our list, but also added in his own songs that the guests loved and we would not have thought of! There were 4 songs on our “must play” list and I heard every single one. Our guests had only the highest praise for Jimmy at the end of the night. The DJ and live music combo that he provides is incredible. Thank you, Jimmy, for making our wedding day unforgettable!

etings. We want to be fair in this review, so we will note that we aren’t aware of any issues with his work during the pre-ceremony or ceremony, and to our knowledge his performance during cocktail hour was mostly fine. He remembered to play one important song for my grandparents, for which we are grateful and thanked him immediately. We are otherwise disappointed with his work during the reception. The issues were big enough to be noticed by our guests, as well as the venue staff, who work with him often, and include: Audio quality and performance during the reception: the audio was unclear, distorted, and tinny. It was noticeable to our guests, as well as to us and the venue staff. Despite requests by us and the staff to fix it, the issue persisted. When we expressed this concern to Jimmy via email after the wedding, he said that “The speakers were fine but the ballroom at [your venue] can be tricky acoustically [be]cause the bass gets absorbed through the windows.” In our prep calls, he talked about how much he loved our venue and never mentioned audio quality issues, which we would expect if that were the case. We understand that equipment failures happen, but would expect backup equipment to be used if needed. We were surprised that Jimmy himself didn’t seem to think there was a problem. Jimmy also frequently switched songs without smooth transitions and seemed not to notice when songs didn’t fit the vibe of the crowd. Previously, he emphasized how he reads the room and adjusts dynamically. We shared several playlists with him to give an idea of our music taste but gave him free rein to play whatever he thought would suit the crowd. Although our guests danced a lot, several people commented that it felt like he wasn’t reading the room and that he seemed unprepared. -Forgetting specific ethnic music: from our first conversation with Jimmy, we discussed the importance of intermingling ethnic music from my husband’s culture with Western music throughout the night, yet he forgot to play it until my husband explicitly reminded him, at which point he played several of the songs in a row near the end of the reception. When we raised this issue with Jimmy after the wedding, he responded that he “left them for what [he] felt was the best placement.” However, during the reception when we reminded him, he clapped his hand to his forehead and said “I can’t believe I forgot the [ethnic] music.” -Unprofessional behavior: Several guests complained that Jimmy smelled of smoke and observed that he was frequently away from the DJ station (including at least one time when we went to speak to him). During our calls, Jimmy specifically mentioned that an important part of DJing is being at his station except for designated breaks, like dinner. When we raised this concern after the wedding, he said that he didn’t feel well, but he hadn’t mentioned any issues to us during the night. If he did, we would have been flexible and understanding. One group of guests complained that he threw his cigarette butt into the bonfire that they were sitting at. We are surprised and disappointed by Jimmy’s work at our reception and by his response to the concerns we raised. It felt like the Jimmy we worked with before the wedding was a different person from the Jimmy who showed up.

y welcomed us to his home to discuss our musical preferences and what we hoped for during our wedding. He took time to understand the music we enjoyed and blew us away with how he mixed our favorite classic rock songs with EDM, and balanced guest song requests. He clearly communicated with us prior to the event, so he knew exactly what we wanted and when. Jimmy is a talented musician, so he sang and played guitar during our cocktail hour. He was a GREAT value for the cost. Hire Jimmy!!! You won’t regret it!!

helped us make our wedding a great success.
