She knows what’s she’s doing and does it do well. We have used to work many occasions, and will continue to do so. She knows the area and can give recommendations if needed. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. PLEASE HIRE A PROFESSIONAL. Melissa was without question the worst part of our wedding day. Please do not be fooled by her website (which looks extremely professional!) as she is an amateur on a good day. I’m more than happy to show anyone how she “photoshopped” my uncle’s face into our family photo of 7 people, as Melissa wasn’t able to tell that his face was completely blocked by his wife while shooting. This was the *only* family photo I would have had from our wedding and she completely missed the mark. How can you not see if 7 adults have visible faces in a photo?? When I brought it up to her after seeing the proofs, she said she could fix it… and the cut and paste editing job she sent back to me is honestly hysterical because it is so bad. I requested a photo of all of our wedding guests after the ceremony…She didn’t even think to stand on a chair/step stool to get a better angle… you can’t even see half of the people in the photo! I could go on and on, but the bottom line is, we screwed up by choosing her instead of hiring a professional. She is lazy and terrible. She applied blanket whitewash filters to every photo and sends them back to you as if they’re gold. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. PLEASE HIRE A PROFESSIONAL. I **promise** you that you’ll get better photos/angles/ideas if you hand an iPhone over to a teenage girl to photograph your wedding. Paying this fraud was the biggest regret of our wedding, do not make the same mistake we did! There is a reason her business isn’t thriving… DO NOT HIRE HER!

Melissa took my high school senior pictures and 4 years later, we loved the work so much we just had to have her do family pics!! She listens to what you want and figures out how to make it work, doesn’t push you to do something you don’t want and is so fun to work with, it’s almost effortless!

Melissa is AMAZING!!! From her energy, her creativity, her talent and everything in between, my experience with her was nothing short of terrific. She is quick to respond to emails and is extremely professional. Moreover, she made my fiancé and I feel totally comfortable for the entirety of our engagement session and our photos are a dream. I surfed Northern Michigan many photographers before landing on Melissa's page. The style of her photos are so light and bright with some many intimate details. We instantly agreed this was the type of photography we wanted for our wedding. Working with Melissa was always fun. She brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to her communication and includes funny stories about her own wedding that are all too relatable. Melissa has created many wonderful tools to ensure she understands all of the things we wanted for our wedding. It was very helpful for us to go through the steps with the tool she provided to think about types of shots, who should be included, how much time we wanted to spend on photos. She was also great to discuss our decisions and offer suggestions based on her experience. Our photos turned out amazing. She captured so many wonderful moments from our day that we are so happy with. We really appreciated Melissa making our day so special.

Melissa was so great! When my husband called to say it was raining on his wait to meet for our first look on the beach I was upset. Then it started thunder storming - to say I was nervous how the photo's would turn out is an understatement. Melissa had the best back up location for our first look and the pictures turned out amazing! She was even willing to work with our timeline that was ruined by the rain to be sure I had all the photo's I wanted!

I had an AMAZING experience with lux light photography! Melissa was so efficient and made everyone feel so comfortable! The whole bridal party and family were so impressed with how she kept things easy for everyone! 5 stars are not enough for the entire experience Melissa probably doesn't even realize she gives to her clients. She is truly one of the most authentic people we have ever met and we loved seeing someone who loves what they do doing exactly that. She is an incredibly talented photographer and I think the best way to explain her personality is sweetheart meets firecracker. It's contagious and uplifting. My now husband and I decided the second week of April as we were planning the big wedding for September that we'd 'elope' by the end of the month. As hectic as the planning and prepping was, our photography item on our to-do list was NEVER a hassle thanks to Melissa. We emailed 4 photographers inquiring availability and pricing, and Melissa was the only photographer to not just contact us back that same night, but called us to discuss details and introduce her and her company in a more personal way. We LOVED this. Only to fall in love with Lux Light Photography when we looked thru her website albums and even going on to read her blog that has fabulous articles she's written for engaged couples getting ready for their big day. We filled out a form she created for her clients and loved all the questions that she asked including especially family relationships//no-longer-relationships that should be kept in opposite corners of the room(: She helped me with what to expect and the 'norms' that I never thought of until about an hour before walking down the aisle... she knew how to keep the bride calm and excited all at once while continuing the flow of photography moments between the daddy-daughter reveal, bridal suite, grooms suite, and knowing the difference between the happily divorced parents and keeping the other set of divorced parents far apart. Everything about Melissa and her quality of work is simply perfect. We are extremely lucky with how everything aligned for our special day and being able to have a photographer like Melissa capture it. A big big big thanks to Melissa and her professionalism AND personality... she just knew how to keep everyone focused no matter which group of people she was photographing (this was a whole task in itself with our only 27 people guest list of a wedding) while making everyone laugh by being such a personable, bubbly, firecracker that you just KNOW when you meet Melissa this is her authentic self. 5 stars are not enough for Lux Light Photography... Our wedding day would not have been such a blissful event if it wasn't for Melissa. Our photographer was wonderful. She was professional and right on time! Our wedding was outside at the end of October...she was efficient with our time in the cold but still made the whole experience fun! Her vision is creative and beautiful! She made me feel like we've been friends for years.

I seriously cannot adequately express in words how great it was to use Lux Light Photography as our wedding photography vendor. Melissa was an absolutely joy to work with. My (now!) husband and I live in Texas and had to plan our Northern Michigan wedding from afar. Essentially, all I had to primarily rely on was reviews from websites like these. From our initial contact with Melissa, inquiring if our wedding date was available, she was very prompt, kind, fun, and incredibly helpful in all of her correspondence with us. This girl seriously knows weddings! She will be able to assist you with just about anything wedding related – not just pictures! She was very instrumental in helping us create a wedding day timeline. My husband and I flew into Michigan a couple of months before our wedding and she was even able to meet with us to go over things. On the wedding day itself, Melissa and her assistant, Ashley, were awesome to work with. They gave amazing directions for all of the poses and honestly, it was very natural and nothing felt forced. After the wedding, we did not have to wait very long at all to receive our pictures. When we did, we were amazed! Literally all of the wedding pictures are gorgeous and we will treasure them forever. If you are like me and relying heavily on reviews when choosing vendors, do yourself a favor and choose Lux Light Photography! Melissa and her team do not disappoint. She is incredible!

My Husband and I decided to do a photo shoot for our 2nd wedding anniversary back in May of this year. We couldn't have been happier with our choice in a photographer! She is absolutely the best we've had! Our pictures came out breathtaking and the locations were perfect. She even was so kind to be flexible with her schedule to accommodate us the night after our original apt due to the weather. The day turned out perfect!

Melissa is wonderful. Her fun, welcoming personality is infectious, which really helps you open up in front of the camera. Melissa and crew were fantastic. I love the special touches they added to the pictures and they went above and beyond to do whatever it took to make things go smoother. Melissa is so professional and fun! We used her for our engagement photo session while on vacation this summer in Traverse City, and she was so accommodating and very responsive to our questions and concerns. Melissa was AMAZING!!! She was so organized with everything leading up to the wedding, I didn't have any concerns or questions about how the day would go as she helped me each step of the way through emails, care packages, and info sheets. We were on a budget for our wedding and Melissa was very understanding and accommodating by designing us our own package that fit our needs. Her honesty and flexibility were refreshing as the wedding industry is full of propoganda and people who take advantage. On the morning of our wedding, she went above and beyond her photographer duties by fastening boutonnieres, checking on our party bus, and just keeping an overall calmness about her. She was fantastic with our families and I CANNOT WAIT to see our pictures. 3 of my 4 bridesmaids want to use her for their own weddings! My husband was nervous about having the pictures look or feel "too staged" and Melissa made him feel so comfortable, he can't stop talking about seeing the pictures too!

Wish I could give 10 stars!!! Melissa is the absolute best. She was more than just a photographer to me. She was a wedding planner (literally gave me my wedding timeline), and also a friend. Fun, professional, and did. not. stop. surprising us! Melissa did our engagement shoot and she and her husband tackled our wedding. Right from the start, she answered all of our questions with enthusiasm, and provided extra details and suggestions before we could even ask. A few hours of standing in the cold, weird posing, and all the endless smiling could have gotten really old. After meeting Melissa and just a few minutes into our first session, we started having fun! Melissa continued to impress, reassure, and make us feel at ease. She made sure we got multiple locations, amazing poses, and she went over the top to incorporate our winter wedding themes. And talk about overdelivering! Melissa got our pictures back to us (WAY more images than she promised) in RECORD time. She also had 3-4 posts and a blog with dozens of shots within days of our wedding - it was the perfect sneak peek to enjoy while on our honeymoon. We've already recommended her to others, and would do the same to anyone who asks! Lock this girl down before she's booked full!

Katherine and Cathy were great!!! They had places for us to go for our first look and wedding party pictures since I had no idea where to go at our venue. They were very professional and great at what they did which made our day go smoothly and successfully. We had a large group and they were able to handle us all and the little ones we had in our group too. Melissa was there for me months in advance giving me tips on what to do with everything from our photography to even how to successfully decorate our venue and everything in between. I would highly recommend them to anyone getting married up in the Traverse city area.

Melissa was amazing. From the first moments of our engagement session, to receiving our wedding photos, she was on top of everything. I was consistently impressed with her easy-going nature, and obvious professionalism. This extends to the billing and lead up as well: Melissa emails on a regular basis to keep in touch, and supply you with great wedding photo pointers. She was super helpful when I needed different vendor recommendations at the last minute, too. I enjoyed working with her so much, I booked her for a separate portrait session for photos for my business as well. Overall, my husband and I couldn't be more thrilled with the experience and the results.

Melissa was amazing! She is so much more than a wedding photographer she helped us firm up our time line and was a great resource when I had questions. The photos are amazing I would highly recommend Lux Light. It was well worth the price.

AMAZING! Everything about Melissa is wonderful.... for one her work (just look at her website)! She helps throughout the planning process and is there with you every step of the way. The day of our wedding she was there for everything, the what when where all of it! I can't say enough about her. She is calm and is together. My false lashes were falling off and she was prepared with glue and trimmers to fix them. She has an emergency wedding kit with all the goods a bride could need if there was a bridal emergency! It was the coolest ever. She totally had it covered! HIGHLY recommend Melissa at Lux Light Photography.

Melissa was great to work with! Especially planning from out of state, she was constantly staying in touch before our big day. I had given her certain picture shots I definitely wanted and she made sure those happened. I can't wait to see all of our pictures from her!
