e things ran smoothly the day of. The pictures from our engagement shoot turned out beautifully, and she was happy to photoshop a little for me as well! I highly recommend working with Melissa, and can’t wait to see our wedding photos!

and goals then customized an imaginative photo shoot. Melissa is a genius directing creative compositions and unique poses that kept everyone engaged and made the experience fun. Her expertise on how to joyfully capture cherished moments of 10 family members including four young children was impressive. It was an absolutely fantastic experience! I highly recommend Lux Light Photography to anyone looking for an exceptional photographer who goes above and beyond expectations.

playing on the beach, she made it fun and enjoyable for us all while giving us recommendations for the area to explore. She was so kind and patient with us all during the photos and kept the poses moving so we could squeeze as much into our one hour session as possible. I had a couple requests for poses and she met those expectations as well! She did a great job with communicating before the photos with recommendations on outfit choices and what to expect during the session. Thank you again Melissa for capturing our family memories here in Northern Michigan and we will cherish them forever!

lot of fun to work with. She was great with staying on top of communication with us from the very beginning. We loved that she captured the spirit of the day and all the details that encompassed it. I would recommend her over and over again.

surroundings, to the wind, to the love that you have with your partner. I was drawn to her because of her beautiful photos that I have previewed. I can’t wait to see how she’s captured the romance between me and my husband. You can’t go wrong having Melissa as your photographer on your special day.

she’s doing and does it do well. We have used to work many occasions, and will continue to do so. She knows the area and can give recommendations if needed. Finished photos are always BEAUTIFUL! We are So happy and will use her for our next wedding in the family!

wedding day she was very professional and also made us feel very comfortable and at ease. We can’t say enough great things about our experience with her. Now we anxiously await for our pictures!!

. I would absolutely recommend working with her for any event.

to capture so many stunning pictures of us, our wedding party and family. She has a super cheerful demeanor and makes the picture taking completely easygoing and stress free. I was extremely happy with how our pictures turned out, every picture was absolutely gorgeous, she really does put a special touch on each one! I highly recommend her, she will not disappoint!

had so much fun doing this shoot. I can’t wait to see how they turned out!

photos with extreme efficiency. The photos were beyond beautiful as well. Thanks again Melissa! Could not have asked for a better photographer!

rofessional!) as she is an amateur on a good day. I’m more than happy to show anyone how she “photoshopped” my uncle’s face into our family photo of 7 people, as Melissa wasn’t able to tell that his face was completely blocked by his wife while shooting. This was the *only* family photo I would have had from our wedding and she completely missed the mark. How can you not see if 7 adults have visible faces in a photo?? When I brought it up to her after seeing the proofs, she said she could fix it… and the cut and paste editing job she sent back to me is honestly hysterical because it is so bad. I requested a photo of all of our wedding guests after the ceremony…She didn’t even think to stand on a chair/step stool to get a better angle… you can’t even see half of the people in the photo! I could go on and on, but the bottom line is, we screwed up by choosing her instead of hiring a professional. She is lazy and terrible. She applied blanket whitewash filters to every photo and sends them back to you as if they’re gold. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. PLEASE HIRE A PROFESSIONAL. I **promise** you that you’ll get better photos/angles/ideas if you hand an iPhone over to a teenage girl to photograph your wedding. Paying this fraud was the biggest regret of our wedding, do not make the same mistake we did! There is a reason her business isn’t thriving… DO NOT HIRE HER!

o make it work, doesn’t push you to do something you don’t want and is so fun to work with, it’s almost effortless!

and is extremely professional. Moreover, she made my fiancé and I feel totally comfortable for the entirety of our engagement session and our photos are a dream. Absolute dream! She went above and beyond and sent us so many more photos than expected and was extremely timely (two weeks!!!). She is tremendously kind, relaxed, and hardworking. I cannot get over how gorgeous our gallery is. Choosing a photo for our save-the-dates is going to be tough! I highly, highly recommend Lux Light Photography! You will not be disappointed!!!

wedding pictures look like something out of a magazine, so dreamy!!

agement photos and in the wedding and Melissa worked so well to include them into the photos. The quality of the photos are excellent. Definitely recommend!

this was the type of photography we wanted for our wedding. Working with Melissa was always fun. She brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to her communication and includes funny stories about her own wedding that are all too relatable. Melissa has created many wonderful tools to ensure she understands all of the things we wanted for our wedding. It was very helpful for us to go through the steps with the tool she provided to think about types of shots, who should be included, how much time we wanted to spend on photos. She was also great to discuss our decisions and offer suggestions based on her experience. Our photos turned out amazing. She captured so many wonderful moments from our day that we are so happy with. We really appreciated Melissa making our day so special.

nervous how the photo's would turn out is an understatement. Melissa had the best back up location for our first look and the pictures turned out amazing! She was even willing to work with our timeline that was ruined by the rain to be sure I had all the photo's I wanted!

t and making sure we were prepared weeks ahead of our wedding. Fast forward to the day of our wedding and she got even more amazing! Always super chill and patient during all of the craziness, while also making sure we kept to our timeline and accomplished everything we wanted to capture in photos. Would recommend Melissa over and over again for anyone looking to capture all the beautiful memories, while also remembering to laugh and have fun along the way. -Tim and Alex Moilanen

will be going back to her for photos even if it is 4 hours away! Highly recommend.

hands-down my favorite professional to work with leading up to and on my wedding day. Melissa is extremely talented at her craft. Our engagement and wedding photos are simply stunning and exude a timeless, romantic, genuine, and joyful feeling. Of all the photographs I’ve had taken in my life, Melissa captured real moments and emotions like I’ve never seen before. What a gift it is to have photographs like this to cherish for years to come! Beyond the beautiful images, what stood out to me even more was what happened behind the camera lens. Simply put, Melissa is the most caring, thoughtful, and kind professional I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. She is committed to her clients and, as a bride in the thick of wedding planning, that is so important. If I ever had a question or idea, Melissa was always an email, text, or phone call away to lend a listening ear and share her professional expertise (she gave the best tips!). Additionally, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Melissa’s contagious optimism and joyful outlook on life. When you’re knee-deep in the midst of wedding planning and/or in the heat of your wedding day, there is nothing better than having Melissa there to share words of encouragement, a positive perspective, and maybe even a picture of her dogs to brighten your day! In other words, Melissa is like having an extra friend to support you during the wedding process. She prioritized getting to know me as a person, not just a client, and always made me feel valued and important. From the tedious work of creating a wedding timeline to the hours and hours of smiling on my wedding day and everything in between, Melissa’s professionalism and kindness ultimately made the entire wedding photography process truly enjoyable. I cannot more highly recommend Melissa as a wedding photographer. Lux Light Photography is truly the best of the best - you get the talent and expertise of a true professional, the most beautiful photographs you’ve ever had, and you’ll walk away with a new friend.

with her spunky personality!! We had a very large group to photograph at our wedding and she remained calm and was able to keep everyone on track! I can’t express how much we appreciate her!!! We are so excited to see our photos!! 5 stars is not enough for Melissa and her team!!

photos with them now! And She was so flexible with us and the weather, we switched out date last min due to rain and the pics are stunning! Loved this experience and that we have these photos and memories! Thank you!

she kept things easy for everyone! There was even an issue (not her fault) and she continued with our photos and was nothing but professional! She even made my new husband comfortable (who hates getting his photos taken)! She was great and so encouraging! We cant wait to get our photos back!

own stunning but her personality is beautiful. Her genuine kindness, professionalism, breathtaking talent, and her ability to make you feel so incredibly special is unreal. Melissa was so fun and made our special day even more special, if that is even possible! She felt a part of our family. Melissa captured every moment perfectly, even when you didn't even know there was a moment to capture. She was always there, to snap a picture, ask if you need anything, and even make sure everything else was running smoothly. There was never a moment we had to stress or worry. Our wedding day was perfect, and these pictures will be a forever reminder of our unforgettable special day, and I couldn't imagine anyone but Melissa being our photographer. Melissa exceeded every expectation, from her stellar communication and wonderful website (with all the tips & tricks), to her bubbly outgoing personality and her eye for magical moments. I could go on and on... We are truly speechless with Melissa. There are not enough words, thank yous, and space on this review to express our gratitude. We are so impressed with her talent and even more so her kind heart and passion for what she does. We are so lucky to have found Melissa and I am so delighted to call her my friend. Melissa, you deserve all the cookies, Doritos, Starbucks, and puppy snuggles in the world. You are remarkable. Thank you!

we loved seeing someone who loves what they do doing exactly that. She is an incredibly talented photographer and I think the best way to explain her personality is sweetheart meets firecracker. It's contagious and uplifting. My now husband and I decided the second week of April as we were planning the big wedding for September that we'd 'elope' by the end of the month. As hectic as the planning and prepping was, our photography item on our to-do list was NEVER a hassle thanks to Melissa. We emailed 4 photographers inquiring availability and pricing, and Melissa was the only photographer to not just contact us back that same night, but called us to discuss details and introduce her and her company in a more personal way. We LOVED this. Only to fall in love with Lux Light Photography when we looked thru her website albums and even going on to read her blog that has fabulous articles she's written for engaged couples getting ready for their big day. We filled out a form she created for her clients and loved all the questions that she asked including especially family relationships//no-longer-relationships that should be kept in opposite corners of the room(: She helped me with what to expect and the 'norms' that I never thought of until about an hour before walking down the aisle... she knew how to keep the bride calm and excited all at once while continuing the flow of photography moments between the daddy-daughter reveal, bridal suite, grooms suite, and knowing the difference between the happily divorced parents and keeping the other set of divorced parents far apart. Everything about Melissa and her quality of work is simply perfect. We are extremely lucky with how everything aligned for our special day and being able to have a photographer like Melissa capture it. A big big big thanks to Melissa and her professionalism AND personality... she just knew how to keep everyone focused no matter which group of people she was photographing (this was a whole task in itself with our only 27 people guest list of a wedding) while making everyone laugh by being such a personable, bubbly, firecracker that you just KNOW when you meet Melissa this is her authentic self. 5 stars are not enough for Lux Light Photography... Our wedding day would not have been such a blissful event if it wasn't for Melissa. Honestly, my husband said she made the experience feel 'magical' when we were taking our post-wedding pictures as Melissa made us feel so comfortable following her pose directions for 100%, hands-down, the best photos we could've ever wanted while feeling like it was only the two of us out there. Melissa = Magic!(:

the whole experience fun! Her vision is creative and beautiful! She made me feel like we've been friends for years.

) husband and I live in Texas and had to plan our Northern Michigan wedding from afar. Essentially, all I had to primarily rely on was reviews from websites like these. From our initial contact with Melissa, inquiring if our wedding date was available, she was very prompt, kind, fun, and incredibly helpful in all of her correspondence with us. This girl seriously knows weddings! She will be able to assist you with just about anything wedding related – not just pictures! She was very instrumental in helping us create a wedding day timeline. My husband and I flew into Michigan a couple of months before our wedding and she was even able to meet with us to go over things. On the wedding day itself, Melissa and her assistant, Ashley, were awesome to work with. They gave amazing directions for all of the poses and honestly, it was very natural and nothing felt forced. After the wedding, we did not have to wait very long at all to receive our pictures. When we did, we were amazed! Literally all of the wedding pictures are gorgeous and we will treasure them forever. If you are like me and relying heavily on reviews when choosing vendors, do yourself a favor and choose Lux Light Photography! Melissa and her team do not disappoint. She is incredible!

utely the best we've had! Our pictures came out breathtaking and the locations were perfect. She even was so kind to be flexible with her schedule to accommodate us the night after our original apt due to the weather. The day turned out perfect!

ginning, she has been very professional, used great and quick communication, was organized, and was so helpful (even helped carry my train to the next location when needed)! She takes beautiful photos, and we highly recommend Melissa and Lux Light Photography!

shoot were exactly like expected. Looking forward to work with her once again.

l do anything to make sure that your wedding day is truly the best day of your life. She understands how crazy the day can get and is so patient if the timeline gets a little off or something doesn’t go exactly as planned. However, she is great with keeping everyone on track if the time is getting away without being pushy – especially when you have two BIG families! She has a super quick turnaround time and also gives you a sneak-peak within only a couple days!! Most importantly, her photos are absolutely STUNNING! She is so gifted and truly loves what she does – and her work reflects that! We can’t thank or recommend her enough!

port all of us to the beach so I could get my dream photos! I planned my wedding from Minneapolis and she was so prompt and responsive to all of my questions via email and phone throughout the year. She took some of the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen and everyone in my wedding loved the work she did! I cannot give enough stars for how pleased I was with the whole experience!

everal of my general wedding planning questions. She also is willing to go to far lengths for her clients. It was 10 degrees the day of our engagement pictures and she was all ready to go and had no problem. For our wedding I mentioned pictures in a vineyard would be nice and she found the perfect place.

res, my boudoir shoot, and our wedding, and she exceeded our expectations over and over. She was very responsive before our wedding, and a pleasure to work with while we planned everything. During the shoots she was fun, fast and professional, and she was great with our guests during the reception. She was quick with getting pictures to us, did a great job of editing and our final pictures were stunning. We would recommend Lux Light Photography to absolutely anyone and everyone! Thanks Melissa for making our special day such a success!

ied my flowers and brought them to the ceremony when I was in a pinch. The pictures were just gorgeous and I loved the use of light. Definately world class pictures and service from the day I booked Lux Light until after the wedding. They never stopped working for me and my special day!!

rything I needed to plan my wedding, outside of the photography even! Her wedding timelines, items to bring lists, photo tips, etc all made the wedding planning and execution seamless. I had 3 young kids in the wedding and she did a phenomenal job capturing their energy and was so patient and helpful with them. She truly helped orchestrate and keep us on track the entire day. Her knowledge and passion were evident from the start of the day to the end. She kept going strong all the way through the reception and didn’t miss a beat! Everyone at the wedding loved her and I couldn’t have imagined a better photographer for my wedding. I would recommend her to anyone! I cannot thank Lux Light Photography enough for everything. I started with a photographer and ended with a friend :)

our questions and concerns. She stayed in touch with us prior to photos and made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera lens. The locations she brought us to were beautiful --- we can't wait to see our photos and share with everyone! I would highly recommend Melissa!

of the way through emails, care packages, and info sheets. We were on a budget for our wedding and Melissa was very understanding and accommodating by designing us our own package that fit our needs. Her honesty and flexibility were refreshing as the wedding industry is full of propoganda and people who take advantage. On the morning of our wedding, she went above and beyond her photographer duties by fastening boutonnieres, checking on our party bus, and just keeping an overall calmness about her. She was fantastic with our families and I CANNOT WAIT to see our pictures. 3 of my 4 bridesmaids want to use her for their own weddings! My husband was nervous about having the pictures look or feel "too staged" and Melissa made him feel so comfortable, he can't stop talking about seeing the pictures too!

a friend. She made me feel beautiful and confident and was so wonderful to my wedding party and guests. Multiple people from bridesmaids to wedding guests gave me compliments on her. I feel like that is so rare. Can't express how much I appreciated her on my big day. And the photographs...holy moly. Just stunning. Thanks for everything Melissa!
