I typically dislike leaving bad reviews, but unfortunately we did not have a good time with Lynda. On an otherwise perfect day, she was the only cloud. She was difficult to work wi...
th, stubborn, and a had a rude tone to her voice. She got into little arguments about silly little things with multiple people who are not confrontational. In the end, the hair styles all came out fine, but the experience was not good. Would unfortunately not recommend.
I don't usually write reviews, but felt like one was warranted here. I got my hair done as part of a bridal party last week and it was no where near what I had requested, or even p...
resentable at all. I provided a picture of myself from when I had gotten my hair done for a previous wedding as an example of what I wanted (smooth, neat curls). I tried to smooth it out on my own and then asked for a touch up before they left, but she reverted it back to how she had originally styled it. The curls were not uniform at all, going every direction and frizzy. After the wedding I reached out to Lynda to say I was not satisfied with the styling (which was $125, not including tip). I was met with immediate defensiveness and even gaslighting from Lynda - saying it was because of the weather and she thought I looked great (did not go outside before taking photos). Lynda does not offer refunds, only a complimentary free styling. As I'm not local and was not happy with the services, that was of little value.
Lynda and her team did a fantastic job with hair and makeup the day of my wedding. I did a trail with her several months before the wedding and my one big request was that our make...
up look natural and not heavy. They did a fantastic job achieving this look. Everyone's makeup was elegant and natural looking. I could not have asked for a better hair style for my wedding day! She achieved an elegant beachy look to go along with our beach wedding. She is very easy to work with and very responsive. Evey email or phone call was answered within 24 hours or less. I would definitely recommend her and her team to any bride.
I had the best time working with Lynda! I went to her for an engagement shot as well and was so happy with my look for both events. She recommended air brush for the wedding day wh...
ich looked perfect throughout the entire day and was so light and breathable. She executed exactly what I was hoping for and suggested wonderful adjustments that made the entire wedding party look beautiful. I would recommend Lynda 10/10 times!!
Lynda and her team were absolutely amazing to work with!!! She did the hair and makeup for myself, all of my bridesmaids, and my mom and mother in law. Everyone turned out beautifu...
l with a style that fit each of them perfectly; classy and elegant looks that were not "overdone" at all. She brought enough team members that we were actually ahead of schedule on hair and makeup, which made the wedding morning stress-free! I got so many compliments from guests about how amazing the hair and makeup styles fit all of us. We had so much fun chatting and hanging out with Lynda and her team while they were getting us ready, and I would highly recommend them!!! Thank you Lynda!!!
I hesitated to write this review, but when I searched for hair and makeup artists I had such a hard time finding honest reviews that weren’t all 5 stars, so here I am. I did a tria...
l with Lynda and started the trial by letting her know that my skin was really dry. She then spent the whole time critiquing my skin - telling me the makeup wouldn’t look good because of my skin, talking about how badly I needed a facial, etc. I understand that it is a makeup artist’s job to notice such things, but she really piled on about it in a way that made me feel uncomfortable and insecure, which no one wants on their wedding day!
I also didn’t love the lip color and told her very specifically what I wanted instead. After trying one or two others (which didn’t match what I asked for) she threw her hands up and said I’d have to find lip color myself before the wedding day.
To top it off, the hairstyle she gave me was so far off from the photo I gave her that I didn’t even know where to begin to ask for tweaks. The whole look was very 1998 prom. For this reason, I chose not to use her services for my wedding.
Lynda and her team were such a great addition to my day! I got married October 2021 in Stonington CT and had 6 bridesmaids, 2 moms, and myself receiving both hair and makeup servic...
es. Lynda and her team arrived right on time and also estimated the time it would take them to get through all of us PERFECTLY which kept us right on schedule for the day. They used very high quality products and did such an amazing job working to make every girl look and feel absolutely stunning. Not to mention they were super sweet and we had so much fun spending the morning with them! Would absolutely recommend her and her team to anyone in the area!

9. I am so thankful I found Lynda! She was understanding from the beginning about the difficulty that comes with being a COVID bride! She answered all of my questions and is SO prompt with communicating and always offering to speak to me even later at night or on weekends basically just going above and beyond at all moments! My trial was perfect! She explained everything & is a true artist! I felt absolutely beautiful on my big day & am so thankful for Lynda! She is amazing at what she does.

Lynda is also very friendly and easy to work with. On the day of the wedding, she finished with us ahead of schedule, which impressed my photographer. Lynda gave me a beautiful, natural look that lasted all day. I got so many compliments. I am very happy that I chose to go with Lynda Williams Beauty for my wedding day.

all of our individual styles and visions a reality. She has such a wide skill set, no matter what style or hair type. She was so professional and attentive. My hair looked just as it did for my trial and as cliché as it may sound, it’s true; I never felt more beautiful than I did that day. When it was time for me to get into my dress, Lynda was right there to help me get in and buttoned up my countless buttons. Thank you for everything Lynda!

at I wanted because we were going to be taking pictures outside before the ceremony in the winter, wind of Newport included. Lynda did a great job explaining her process, and I trusted her and I am so glad I did! My hair came out perfectly and she even came back to touch it up for me at my request (on a holiday too, it was New Year’s Eve!) so that it would be perfect for the ceremony. And it actually stayed curled and beautiful the whole night and even into the next day! My bridesmaids looked gorgeous as well! Thank you so much, Lynda!!

ed to look for someone else, Lynda responded very quickly to my email and was extremely friendly, flexible, and willing to help me out. I did not do a trial because I was short on time, but was confident based on photos and my conversations with Lynda that she would do a great job. She was able to fit me in despite having another wedding the same day as mine. On the wedding day, she arrived on time and was very professional, efficient, friendly, and helpful! We had our makeup done early, but Lynda gave me a touch up kit and even offered to come back after she finished with the other wedding party if I needed anything. I absolutely love how my makeup turned out and it lasted all day, despite some serious heat and lots of sweating on the dance floor! I loved the airbrush makeup and eyelashes, and Lynda helped me pick out a fun lip color and even gave me some extra for reapplication. I am not used to wearing a lot of makeup, but I did not feel overdone at all and felt like I looked like myself. My skin looked great, and everything photographed really well. The others in my wedding party loved their makeup as well! I highly recommend Lynda and her team!!! She is extremely friendly, professional, accommodating, and willing to help out!

ordinating with my makeup schedule for a few of the girls. We had a wide variety of hair types and styles and no one left disappointed. My own hair held up great the whole night, even after being tugged and brushed at by my veil. I am so happy with how my hair turned out, I felt so beautiful!
Lynda does amazing work! I loved my hair and makeup at the trial, and it was even more perfect the day of our wedding. I'm so happy with my decision!

. She carefully explained every product she used and was a true professional. All of my girls loved her and have been interested in her makeup services after the wedding since she was so great the wedding day. She really took her time with each girl to make them feel comfortable and adapted to all our different skin types. Our makeup was beautiful and flawless and lasted the entire wedding day & night! I highly recommend Lynda and I'm so happy I found her for my wedding day. Thank you Lynda!

sic at her home studio. I shared a few photos with her of what I was thinking and she pulled elements from each to create exactly what I was looking for. We decided together on a few small tweaks that she then incorporated in on the wedding day. Lynda and her team were true professionals, working efficiently through getting 10 ladies ready on time but open to reworking if someone didn't like something to ensure everyone was 100% pleased with their look. Lynda and her team helped create a fun atmosphere while managing the the crazy swirl of visitors popping in - it was just like they were part of the group! Both makeup and hair were flawless when we were all done and everyone was thrilled with how they looked. I would highly recommend Lynda and her team!

he wedding planning process to perfect my look prior to the big day. She was patient with my requests and helped guide me with decisions regarding my look. On the wedding day, Lynda and her assistant Kim showed up to my hotel room promptly and stayed on track with our timeline. They both demonstrated great communication with the bridal party and myself. They truly listened to everyone’s individual requests and suggestions. The hair and make up came out absolutely beautiful! I 100% recommend hiring Lynda Williams for your wedding day.

Lynda and her assistant met us bright and early the morning of the wedding. After meeting Lynda during my hair trial I knew she was a perfect fit. She's easy going, fun and amazing...
ly talented. I was amazed at how fast her and her assistant were able to get my bridal party done (9 maids, 3 moms, a flower girl and me). The quality was top notch, all of the girls looked amazing and even after taking pictures at some of Newport's windiest locations, our hair remained mostly in tact (nothing a little more hairspray couldn't fix). I am so eager to get some pictures back from my photographer so I can share them with Lynda.
If you want to feel at ease the day of your wedding, hire Lynda. She really was a terrific addition to my day. I only wish I had more events I could hire her for! Thanks Lynda!! XO

online and entrusted her to do my highlights and cut a few weeks before my wedding instead of my regular stylist. I have never had such natural looking highlights that shimmered for all the pictures. I couldn't have been more pleased with the results.
Her makeup artistry is incredible and she is continually learning new techniques. She now offers airbrushing, which I tried for my wedding. My makeup looked flawless and natural! She listens to what you want done, but is not afraid to give you her expert opinion on style and color choices, which were spot in my case! My entire bridal party looked amazing and were complete on time for photos without chaos or a rushed feeling, which was key for me.
I would highly recommend Formal Hair and Makeup Design for your future wedding needs and as a permanent hair stylist. Lynda works out of her home with a very professional setup and separate space for clients. Her pricing is on par with all other hair stylist in the area, and for the value, worth every penny. She even went out of her way to "beautify" me after my highlight appointment because she knew I was getting boudoir photos taken that same day! You wont be disappointed if you have Lynda on your wedding day!
Lynda and her assistant of Formal Hair Design provided hair services to myself, my entire bridal party and the Mom's. She is punctual, reasonably priced and mobile. The fact that s...
he provided service on site the day of the wedding was crucial for me. Lynda has a very calm presence about her and an easy going personality. With all of the stresses and events leading up to the wedding, I found this to be so refreshing and much needed as we prepared for the big day. I was very pleased with how beautiful everyone looked that day and enjoyed the entire design process with Lynda, start to finish.

rwhelmed by wedding planning one of my bridesmaids started calling around for hair and makeup rates to help out with the search. A few months later when I had decided that Lynda was my top choice, I called to confirm rates and see if she was still available for my wedding date. Although her pricing had increased since my friend had called, Lynda honored her previous quote despite the fact that I had nothing in writing and had never spoken with her before.
When I showed up at the trial I had about 10 potential styles that were in consideration. Lynda helped me identify what I liked about each picture and put together an updo that incorporated different aspects of each photo. Although I loved my hair after the trial, I had a last minute change of heart and decided I wanted a different look. Even with no lead time Lynda was able to make the switch effortlessly and I absolutely loved the result.
On the day of the wedding she and her assistant were on time, organized, friendly and were able to do hair for seven people in just a few hours. All of the girls looked absolutely beautiful, and more importantly they were all happy with how they looked! Lynda was absolutely fantastic and I could not recommend anyone higher.

ce’s head there. Well, this is exactly what I am thinking about writing this review. Lynda Williams would be a great match for the Godmother’s role in this fairy! Not only she made a terrific job styling my hair, but she also helped me to feel myself more confident and proud of who I am and how I look. I adored the style she chose for me as much as I adored the way she worked on my hair – relaxed, professional, and confident in each little step! “You have to stay yourself, pettier but yourself”, Lynda said, and this was exactly how I felt when she left. I am very grateful to Lynda for her high professionalism as a hairstylist and for who she is as a person. Thank you very much for being a fairy godmother in my fairytale!

look absolutely gorgeous on wedding day. There were 9 of us getting ready that morning and she and her assistant did our hair in a timely fashion. She listened to all of my girls and made them look amazing. I was so happy with the way my hair turned out and she made sure I was comfortable with how my hair felt with the headband and veil before she left.

very first conversation, but it was immediately clear to me just how passionate she is about what she does. And that kind of enthusiasm is contagious. She got me so excited about what I envisioned for myself, and what I wanted to convey with my hairstyle - one of the fun things a bride gets to think about! After about 5 minutes, I was sold and booked her on the spot. And it was the best decision I could've made! Lynda and I stayed in touch throughout my planning process, and our trial run confirmed that I was in very good hands. She was a great listener and nailed it - I felt like a princess! To be sure she could replicate it, she took a bunch of pictures and emailed them to me to review (I loved every angle!). When my wedding day arrived, she was right on time, and brought two assistants with her to accommodate my party of 9. We were all on a timeline, of course, and she helped us stick to it. She had me completely styled and ready to go when my photographer arrived. And she could not have been warmer to me and my bridesmaids. Everyone loved her and her assistants, and we had a blast getting our hair done in my room (at OceanCliff in Newport). Most importantly, it took the pressure off of me to get myself out the door the morning of my wedding. I was able to wake up, shower and get beautified, all in the comfort of my own room. Fabulous! Lynda is truly talented, and I highly recommend using her services. You will not be disappointed!
Lynda was so great to work with. She totally got what I was looking for at my trial so it was an easy decision. Her and her assistant were wonderful and really fun. My bridesmaids ...
loved her and all loved the looks she gave them. I just wish my hair wasn't such a pain since one side of it fell, but thats my hair and not the fault of Lynda. I've tried since I was 13 to get my hair to curl or do different things and it just never wants to cooperate. She was so fun and I'm hoping my friend who will be getting married next year uses her services as well. I want to see her again! You could not make a better choice than Formal Hair Design for your wedding.

e is friendly, efficient, and really knows hair. And most importantly, she is extremely patient and really listens to what you say. Book her fast because I know she's popular, and she's great... And the last thing is that my hair stayed up the entire ceremony and reception - through all the dancing and in the last shots it looked like it had just been done. Thank you!!

and everyone loved their 'do'! I met Lynda for a hair trial a few months before the wedding and she was exetremly accomodating to what I wanted done(even when I changed the style I wanted slightly the morning of the wedding). Lynda was able to get all of our hair done, beautifully and per everyone's individual requests, within plenty of time to allow us to take some pictures and relax before the ceremony. I especially loved how she did my hair and would certainly recommend Lynda to future brides :)
