A historic community founded in the middle of the 19th-century, many of its original Victorian dwellings still stand proud today. Amongst these is the MacCallum House Inn & Restaurant which can trace its origins back to owner Daisy MacCallum and her husband Alexander. Daisy was a formidable character and for years the property functioned as a salon for artists, musicians, intellectuals, and writers. Such visitors would call on Daisy to discuss their latest work and the news of the day. Nowadays, those stepping down the aisle are invited to host their event in one of the house’s spectacular venue spaces. Couples can exchange vows overlooking the coast on the oceanfront bluffs as the sea spray mists up from the rocks below. There are also two churches nearby. The manor’s Victorian beauty has been maintained and it stands today as a characterful monument to its time. Inside the South Dining Room welcomes guests for an intimate reception in an upscale setting. The smooth shine of dark-wood paneled walls is contrasted by the organic stone hearth at its center, which keeps guests warm during the colder months. Those who would like a larger reception can celebrate under the cover of an elegant marquee on the East Lawn. Saya was so helpful throughout the planning and process through the entire event, making sure everything ran smoothly, and Tatiana was a huge help with coordinating our room block and ensuring that gift bags were placed in each of our guests' rooms. The team even loaned us heaters and furniture for a pre-wedding gathering the night before, so our families could come together comfortably. But what really stood out was the food. My partner and I are serious foodies, and wedding food often falls short, but MacCallum House blew us away. The dinner service was flawless, and every dish was executed to perfection. Chef Alan and his team were incredibly accommodating, especially with the various dietary restrictions among our guests. One moment that really touched us was when they created a special dish for my neuro-divergent cousin, who is on a very restrictive diet. When his meal arrived, his face lit up—it was one of those beautiful moments that added so much to our day. The entire team ensured that every aspect of the wedding was seamless, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. If you're looking for a wedding venue that combines stunning scenery, incredible food, and outstanding service, MacCallum House is it.

tself was stunning (we had seen photos and walked by the spot when we were in Mendocino for our engagement). Unfortunately that's where the good bits of this venue ended. When we reached out to MacCallum House (via email and phone call) we didn't realize that we'd be ignored (6 times) over the course of a month. It simply became clear that if we were a larger wedding we'd get an immediate response from Summer (who was wonderful and managed larger weddings) but completely ignored by Saya (general manager, handled microweddings). I would've appreciated if they would just be upfront about not wanting microweddings instead of constantly having to be chased down and telling us "we'll cc Saya" or "I'll let Saya chime in" and then be ignored. For the record Saya never once responded to anything she was cc'd in or directly emailed on.
This venue was incredibly unprofessional and I can't imagine such rude treatment just because our wedding wasn't large enough.

will call nondescript food a win, the MacCallum House's exquisite restaurant kitchen served amazing hors d'oeuvres, dinner, desert and late night food. But what really set the Mac House apart was the service and hospitality we received.
Saya took amazing care of us, answering all our questions and figuring out how to accommodate our requests to make the wedding day feel uniquely ours. She handled all the details with other vendors so that everything went smoothly. As the facilities manager and our day of coordinator, she threaded the needle of keeping us in the loop when our input was needed vs. making executive decisions so we could feel like guests at our own wedding. Everyone we worked with made us feel like VIPs while also being super down to earth and fun to be around. We greatly appreciated all the small touches the staff did for us we didn't even know we'd need, like delivering our leftovers to our room when we had no time to eat dinner. For these reasons and many more, we can't recommend Mac House enough as a great place to get married.
