We am so delayed in posting this review, considering our micro wedding was almost a year ago, but we am forever indebted to Maddie. She was the first vendor we picked pre-covid which meant many changes, seemingly endless changes. Throughout the process Maddie was helpful, gracious, and excited. When we finally got to our engagement shoot and wedding days, they couldn't have been more perfect and Maddie is 100% a part of that. She makes you feel comfortable and at ease, and we couldn't be more thankful. Nothing about our photos felt forced, or posed which is exactly what we wanted: us in our element and in love - Maddie made that happen. Our photos are so beautiful and a year later, I still find myself scrolling through them weekly. If you're looking for a fabulous photographer who makes art out of your best day ever and will make you smile and laugh the whole time - look no further than Maddie!!

Maddie took our wedding to new heights!!! From her creativity, flexibility, and collaborative nature, she made our wedding perfectly wonderful. Never once did we have to chase her down or wonder about her, she was always there ready to help. She had such incredible attention to detail. Probably one of her wildly wonderful traits, she helped us trust her instantly. We always felt safe with her and knew she had our best interests at heart. Her ideas too!!! Pouring out with ideas constantly, she never made us feel like she was grasping for content, she made us feel so so special. Without a shadow of a doubt, we would hire Maddie again and again and again. She also interacted with all our guests with such grace and patience. It was spectacular to witness her even having a great time at the wedding. You can always tell she is loving what she does, with every camera snap or idea she comes up with, she loves it. Even standing in a fountain, she seemed to love that too! All for the best shots. Thank you Maddie, you’re one of a kind and an amazing artist!

Upon speaking to Maddie for the first time over a call I knew she was the right photographer for us. She has such a fun and wonderful personality which is really important in a photographer, on top of the beautiful photos I saw on her website. Our wedding photos are so incredibly spectacular. The lighting is just *chefs kiss* and so is the way she HYPES YOU UP during your session. You'll be laughing and having the greatest time it won't even feel like you're having your photo taken. We are so happy with how our photos came out and will absolutely be hiring her again or any future photo sessions.

Maddie is the most perfect person! She found the coolest spots for our engagement shoot in San Diego and even more amazing places in liberty station for our wedding. I stare at our photos all the time, she captured us in the best way possible!

Stop what you're doing and book Maddie now!!! We booked Maddie for our Sunset Cliffs wedding and, being from out of state, had no idea about time, venue, weather, etc. Maddie was more than just a photographer for us- she was a hype woman, advice giver, and brought all the joy to both our engagement and our wedding day. She seriously helped orchestrate most of our wedding from the beginning. Our family and friends told me all throughout our wedding day how amazing she was about making photos feel natural and that they enjoyed taking photos because of her. My husband, who hates taking photos, said he had FUN because Maddie is a magical creator who knows how to work a crowd and a lens!!! We have not stopped getting compliments on our wedding photos and I have a gallery large enough to last a lifetime. Maddie is a storyteller and I could not be more grateful for her for allowing us to relive our wedding day through her art. I adore Maddie for the fun loving person she is and the energy she brought to our most important day. Our wedding would not have been what it was without her.

Maddie is such a talented photographer and we could not have had a more perfect person for our small elopement in California! Not only are her photos just absolutely stunning, but Maddie made us feel so comfortable during both our engagement session and our big day. And we had so much fun at both! We were a little nervous about taking professional photos, but she totally put our minds at ease as soon as she started snapping pics. We also wanted to include our dog in our photos, and she was truly so great with him! Maddie is professional and truly exceptional at capturing the subject of her photos. Along with being professional, she is also fun, creative, and just an all around awesome person. We knew we could trust Maddie to take wonderful photos for us to have forever, and to share with our family and friends that couldn't be there for our wedding day. I can't recommend Maddie enough, and would absolutely have her photograph any of our future life events!

You can stop your search, you have found the best photographer in San Diego or really probably anywhere. Madeline did the photos for our engagement and wedding -absolutely phenomenal. She is professional, prepared and an absolute blast to be around. She made us feel comfortable, provided ample direction and you could just feel the magic of her artistic brain at work. At one point, she held up her phone to her camera to get this cool reflection in our shot and it came out to be the most amazing photo ever. Just book her now! I recommend her to all my family and friends.

Maddie was the absolute best wedding photographer we could have hoped for! She’s a great communicator, super friendly, and a joy to work with. She made us feel totally comfortable from the start and worked magic at getting us into a million different poses without looking posed in a fake way. Her photos speak for themselves, but she captured a great variety of more classic portraits, to epic shots that captured the landscape (we got married on cliffs). We’ve had people rave over our photos and tell us they look like they belong in a bridal magazine. She worked in a couple of delightful surprises too, which I won’t tell you about and spoil them. I can’t recommend her enough!

Not only does Maddie's work speak for itself, she is also an amazing human, artist, and professional. When interviewing photographers, Maddie was prompt, organized, and made it immediately clear that she is an expert at what she does. She is sweet, silly, and energetic, but also a strong business woman with a clear vision - which is why we chose her. Maddie was a critical part in helping us pivot (many times) during COVID and plan our eventual elopement. Maddie recommended a totally magical spot on Sunset Cliffs that we would have never found on our own. And since we didn't have to be in any one place at a specific time, Maddie encouraged us to have our ceremony just before sunset. There are not enough words to describe how breathtaking this was. Our photos look like a magazine editorial - it's absurd how beautiful they are. And on top of ALL of that, Maddie made our day so fun. She was a critical part of the celebration, and every single one of our guests commented on what a positive energy Maddie brought to the table. She cracked jokes with the groomsmen, handled MOB's expectations flawlessly, kept our guests on track, and helped us stay relaxed the entire day without making any of it feel like work! We cannot recommend Maddie highly enough. (Also as I'm posting this, I'm seeing the other 5 star reviews for Maddie and they are all 100% accurate. Book her now!)

Maddie was easily the best photographer we could have picked for our wedding (and engagement pics). She made us feel at ease, she took amazing pictures and she was the best hype person out there. For our engagement shoot, we wanted to do at our home with our animals and she embraced them and was incredible. On our wedding day she had great vision and worked really well with our families. She is a great communicator and so kind, funny and easy to be around. She knows what she's doing and she was a perfect fit.

To say Maddie Barr is the best photographer - and more importantly, person - for the job is the understatement of the decade. Try finding one negative review about her – I dare you. You can’t. Because she is nothing less than 5 (bajillion) star quality. The reviews hooked me – one, after another. I felt the genuine love for Maddie coming off of the page and into my heart through these people’s words. And then I visited her website – and I, too, fell in love. Her photos jump off of the page at you, they are so powerful. Beautiful moments of beautiful people, captured as “them” – you can tell. But in all honesty, the opening line is what sealed the deal: “I’m stoked you found your way here! If you love puns, magic and The Office quotes, you’ve landed in the right place and I’m totally obsessed with you already.” In my head, in this order: “Thanks!”, “Who doesn’t?”, and also “DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS?!” – I immediately told my fiancé – “I FOUND OUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER!” While *I* was sold on Maddie, it was equally as important that my fiancé felt the same. We first met her over coffee to see if we would all be a good fit for each other – the connection was instantaneous. Her authenticity poured out of her. All of her reviews were validated. How she has the ability to make SO many people feel so amazing is a true gift. Within 5 minutes, you are old friends. She makes you feel warm, comfortable, confident, excited! Has you smiling, has you laughing, has you crying because you’re laughing so hard. And on top of that – you felt her joy for photography. It’s not just a job to her – it’s her calling, and a creative and beautiful experience that she loves sharing with people. It shows through her work, and through her spirit. *We* were sold. We weren’t going to do an engagement shoot at first – we didn’t think we needed to add this extra expense to all of our other wedding costs. But so glad it was INCLUDED in her packaging because it was SO helpful. My fiancé and I – who are the farthest thing from comfortable in front of the camera – were nervous. But Maddie is a pro – she eased us into the whole experience without us even realizing it and before we knew it we were having so much fun! It was like we were hanging out with a friend the entire time – she brought this incredible energy that hyped us up. She has this natural way of knowing exactly what to say to bring out your best selves and when to provide guidance to capture these incredible moments you don’t even realize you’re capable of. It was like a trial run for the big day, so by the time it came – we were like “we got this.” On the wedding day, she brought the exact same energy, yet somehow amplified. Maddie was like Casper the friendly ghost – we saw her when we needed to see her, and otherwise we had no clue she was there. She went above and beyond, high and low – literally, willingly, stood in bushes and fell – to get the most perfect shots. She was the best cheerleader, master cat herder, and teammate we could have asked for. Our family loved her. Our friends loved her. People thought she was part of the celebration! And she was. I about had a heart attack when we got about 100! sneak peek photos back DAYS later. And then when we got the entire album, so many happy tears reliving the most perfect day we could have ever dreamt of – OUR day – all through these special, magical moments forever captured. The moral of the story is: BOOK MADDIE BARR! We love you, Maddie!

The first thing ANYONE says to me about our wedding is "the photos were SO good!!" they don't even ask how it was or how we are, they just gush about the photos!! What they don't know is that Maddie was not just a wedding photographer for us, but she was an integral part of everything! We dragged her up to Sequoia National Park for our family-only ceremony, and also had her shoot a dinner reception back in San Diego. She was a saint! She put up with our families all weekend which is enough to test anyone, lol, but she was so helpful and excited to be there. One of the best things about having her as your photographer is that she is your personal cheerleader. She is excited to be there and she reaffirms everything, makes you excited and calms your nerves (because you will have a lot of them!). And then at the end of it all we had photos that looked straight out of a magazine for our ceremony, and for our reception we had all these surprise captures of intimate moments and looks where I had no idea she was even there to sneak photos! I work in the wedding industry and I have witnessed a lot of photographers working with their couples, both the good and the awkward. But I will say I rarely see anyone have the kind of relationship that Maddie establishes with you immediately. You just feel like old friends and you're goofing around. As soon as we started our engagement shoot (which is included by the way!) we knew we'd be comfortable with Maddie taking our photos, she gives great direction when you need it and she is just full of genuine joy and encouraging words. She really went above and beyond for us, and at the end of the day I think its because she just loves what she does and she is here for you :) Book Maddie if you want to laugh and have a great time, but also end up with beautiful and amazing photos <3

Maddie helped make our wedding day the best ever and captured memories we'll be re-visiting for a lifetime! Super easy to coordinate details and logistics with and her personality is super easy going, warm, and friendly. Cannot recommend highly enough - would've rated a million stars if I could've!

She's a photographer goddess. Her talent is ridiculous and her energy is infectious. #MaddieForPresident She has a knack/talent/secret mind control for making people feel good, do what she needs and enjoy themselves. No clue what wizardry it is... She traveled to Arizona for our wedding, to a NEW place she hadn't photographed before and just KILLED IT. She captures moments and souls and heartbeats and feelings. It's crazy. Seriously. We received the photos within the time she said and are having even more fun going through them again and again, noticing all the little things we hadn't noticed on the day of the wedding. Even my photo disliking husband was shocked he had fun and LOVE the photos. Thank you for sharing your talents with us!

Maddie is not only the most amazing photographer that you could hire for your wedding, she is also just an all around great person. We hired Maddie for our wedding and she did our engagement shoot as well as part of her package. It was a great warm up round for us to all to get to know each other and get comfortable with her style of photography. The engagement session was super easy, even though before we did it I was super anxious. My now husband doesn't like to take photos and I don't particularly like photos of myself, so I honestly wasn't sure how it would go. But she was so fun to be around that we really didn't have much time to think about nerves in front of the camera. She is literally directly every little move so that you don't have to think about if it is awkward or not, but she is by no means bossy, she is just a great guide ... especially for someone like me who is constantly sitting in a hunched position, she would gently remind me to sit up or tilt my chin up. It was amazing!!! She makes you feel instantly comfortable around her like you are old friends. She is also not afraid to get down and dirty to get that really good shot even if it literally means sitting on a dirty street corner so she can get the right angle. Our engagement photos came out so great and we had such a fun time hanging out with her that I honestly couldn't wait for the wedding day when I would get to see her again. On the wedding day she was honestly even more patient and understanding. My family was being super obnoxious and wanted every variation of different family photos that could ever exist and she not only complied, she suggested a few different combinations that they hadn't thought of!! Haha, she was honestly being so wonderful. I have only gotten the preview of my wedding photos, but I know the full album will not disappoint. I was so in LOVE with every photo and I honestly felt like i could go back to the day and relieve it because she had done such an amazing job of capturing not only the memories, but the essence and vibe of the day. I can't say enough wonderful things about Maddie Barr, but if you are looking for someone who will give you the best photos you've ever seen of yourself and potentially want to hang with someone that could be the coolest girl around, then Maddie is your gal!

She gave us sneak peek images the evening of our ceremony, and we were able to share some with our parents, which was a very special moment to all of us. With Maddie, everything was so easy! She's genuine, hilarious, passionate, and fun to be around. She knows how to make you feel comfortable and at ease throughout your big day. She's flexible and willing to try anything, which proves how dedicated she is to making your day perfect. You feel like you're going on an adventure with a friend. When I think about what Maddie did for us, I just feel supremely grateful to have met her and to have chosen her to be our elopement photographer. The difference with Maddie I believe, is that now we feel like we have another friend in San Diego. And it's true, she really does make magic!

You will not be disappointed booking Maddie for your day-she has an incredible energy that could make the most shy person comfortable in front of her camera! We had a small elopement ceremony in a local community garden with only a few family and friends, and I still to this day cannot believe how perfectly she captured one of the most intimate and special days in our lives. I can't recommend her enough and promise you will not be disappointed with the art she creates in one day that you will have for the rest of your life-she is simply the best!

Maddie is the sweetest most personable photographer, it was like hanging out with a friend. She made us so comfortable and gave great direction when needed. She sent us sneak peaks the next day! They look just as perfect as the engagement photos she did for us! She captured the vibe of the wedding so perfectly and i cant recommend her highly enough. Perfection!

Madeline was our photographer for our wedding. She was so easy to work with and had an eye for what was going to look great. She adjusted nicely to our no-frills type set up and my husband's insistence on posing for only a few staged photos...they all came out beautifully! We were just so impressed with the quality of her photos and are so happy with them. We are based in Boston and are sad to see her move to the opposite coast. She had previously taken photos of my daughter (which were also amazing) and we would have loved to have her continue to take her photos. We would definitely recommend her for sure!
