My family stayed at the Madeline Hotel for three days in June, and from the moment we got there, it was a great experience. Everything about this place feels intentional and elevated - from the thoughtful amenities to the incredibly warm staff....
The pool and hot tubs are incredible, especially in the summer. They overlook the mountains, so we were able to relax in the warm water while taking in these gorgeous alpine views. There are so many small details at this hotel that makes the stay go an extra mile, like the heated towels after your swim or the free s’mores kits at the fire pits at night.
One of the most convenient features is the free gondola that runs straight into Telluride. It’s just a short walk from the hotel and makes getting into town really easy. The ride itself is beautiful, and we ended up using it multiple times to walk around or go out to dinner.
Something else we appreciated was that the hotel provides complimentary gear for guests planning to hike or explore — including walking sticks and daypacks you can borrow. It’s such a simple but useful gesture that reflects how well they understand the kind of experience people come to Telluride for.
Lastly, the staff at the Madeline were a real highlight of the stay. Everyone we interacted with — from the front desk to the valet to the concierge — was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. Whether it was offering local tips, making sure we had everything we needed, or simply remembering our names, their attention to detail and thoughtful approach made the whole experience feel more personal. It was clear that they took pride in making sure guests felt taken care of.
All in all, we would highly recommend staying at the Madeline Hotel!

Most recent stay at the Madeline Hotel in a 2 BR Residence Mountain View was truly exceptional. The residence offered great views and an atmosphere of tranquility that complemented the natural beauty of the mountains. Traveling with my mother, ...
I was appreciative of the hotel's excellent spa services, which provided her with with many full days of relaxation and care, allowing me the opportunity to fully enjoy the fresh mountain air and spend time walking the nearby trails in peace. The experience was both restorative and memorable.

Had a lovely stay at the Madeline Hotel in Telluride. The staff were absolutely incredible including valet, front desk, waiters. Location was ideal with the gondola being right there. Loved the touch of the fancy water options in lobby. One com...

I typically don’t post reviews but felt compelled to inform others as they make their decision to visit Telluride, a very special, fun and unique place. Madeline is a nice hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are nice with very comfortable beds...
and nice decor, however beware of paper thin walls. We had the unfortunate opportunity to listen to our neighbors every word, television, and private moments as if we were in the room with them. Not uncommon for a holiday inn, but certainly not at all what you would expect at an expensive hotel. We approached management a number of occasions and were met with “we called them” or “we tried”, but no one on staff was able to make a decision on how to truly handle and left us to deal with it. Ultimately, they were gracious enough to comp us our drinks at the bar, a laughable $40 relief for our inconvenience and having to listen to the late night enjoyment and acts of our neighbors. Fortunately our kids weren’t with us. Amenities and grounds were fine but minimal, location to the gondola is convenient but everything to do is located in town so plan on getting to know the gondola very well. Do yourself a favor and save your time and money and stay in town. Unfortunate experience and lack of care or at least authority to make things right from the staff.

My husband and I have stayed at several five-star resorts around the world, and unfortunately, our recent experience at the Madeline Hotel was far below expectations. Given the hotel’s five-star rating and the amenities advertised, our stay was...
extremely disappointing and not worth the premium price tag. We specifically chose the Madeline Hotel for the experiences it promotes, including the morning movement classes. However, despite being advertised on the website, no movement classes were offered during our five-night stay. Likewise, we were looking forward to the afternoon alpine show with a glass of sparkling wine, only to be told by staff that it had been canceled due to a management change. These amenities were key reasons for choosing the property, and their absence significantly diminished the value of our stay. Even the smaller details were disappointing. The hotel promotes nightly s’mores from 7–8 PM, but when we arrived at 7:30 PM, there were none left. For a five-star resort, this lack of attention to guest experience and service is unacceptable. The issues continued through the end of our stay. On our final day, we were informed that we had $130 in food credit remaining, which turned out to be incorrect — a calculation error by the hotel meant we actually owed money. We also requested a takeaway breakfast before our early departure, taking care to write down our order, specify pickup (not room delivery), and stay within the credit amount. Despite this, our order was incorrect: coffee came from the wrong restaurant, hot chocolate was substituted for chocolate milk for our daughter, and we were charged a room delivery fee we explicitly declined. I reached out to the hotel to request a refund for the incorrect order and delivery fee but have received no response. The lack of acknowledgment and follow-up only added to our disappointment. Overall, this experience did not reflect the level of service, professionalism, or hospitality expected from a five-star resort. Based on our stay, I would rate the Madeline closer to a three-star property. I hope management will take this feedback seriously and issue an appropriate refund for the incorrect charges, as well as review the misleading advertising of amenities that were not available.
