Constructed in 1926, Madrid Theatre originally operated as a cinema showing silent movies and classic films. It had several different functions before a complete restoration of its classic architecture was undertaken in the late 20th century. Since 2001, the venue has hosted numerous weddings and celebratory events. Gatherings of up to 500 guests can be accommodated at Madrid Theatre. The banquet hall is a stylish space for dining and socializing. Guests can enjoy a cocktail on the elegant mezzanine, while the ornate staircase creates the ideal pathway for a grand entrance. The spacious ballroom features a large dance floor and a stage, which are suitable for your wedding entertainment. We had the best experience at the Madrid Theatre for our wedding! Missy and team were so easy to work with, she was quick to respond, even at random hours, she was always gracious and kind to our crazy emails, calls and texts. The venue was set up perfect, it was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. My only regret was not adding more time on, it goes so fast, and we didn't want the night to end!
We had our reception at the Madrid in September and has the best experience with this venue. When looking for a venue we wanted: 1. A large space for a big wedding reception; 2. A venue that was already beautiful and had character; and 3. A venue with all the services we were looking for - a day of coordinator, tables, chairs, and table cloths, a bar and bar staff. The Madrid had absolutely all of this plus the added perks of a stage, the mezzanine overlooking the dance floor, and the marquee out front announcing our wedding. Working with Missy at the Madrid was so easy and on the day of our wedding I was not worried about anything despite being very type A and worried how the set up of the venue would go without me there. I had nothing to fear because everything went off perfectly. Would recommend the Madrid and Missy to all for weddings and other large events!
We were incredibly happy with our wedding at the Madrid! It is a beautiful space by itself, so we didn't feel like we had to start from scratch like many of the modern venues. Our guests loved the signature cocktails that Missy and her team helped create, and we loved the huge stage for the grand entrance!

Highly recommend booking your big day at the Madrid Theatre. We do not have one negative thing to say! From booking, to the final cleanup, the Madrid was perfect for us! Our guests loved having both the ceremony and reception in one spot! My favorite moment, was taking a moment with my new husband and escaping to the balcony level for a drink, while we watched all of favorite people in one room having a blast! It will always be one of my favorite memories! Missy was incredible to work with along with her entire team!
Best vendor of our event! The Madrid Theatre was by far our best pick of our entire vendor team! We hosted our ceremony and reception on site, with a cocktail hour upstairs. Our guests loved the tables overlooking the main level to grab a drink and people watch! Pricing was very competitive when you compare all the things included, and Missy was by far the cherry on top! Our wedding day would not have been the same at any other venue!

I am not sure where to start! The Madrid Theatre is absolutely beautiful! There are not many venues that have the historic charm that this one does. On top of it's beauty, Missy is incredible to work with! She is so experienced and knowledgable, offered so many great suggestions, was open to helping us figure out our requests, I could go on and on. She made our family all feel so welcomed and honestly like she was part of our family! The day itself went so smoothly, any hiccups and Missy and staff handled them! Don't sleep on this venue! It is truly a hidden gem, with an incredible staff! Best wedding decision ever!
The Madrid was the perfect location for our big day! It was a super smooth planning process, Missy is so experienced, she thought of so many things I would have never considered. She was the calming presence I needed the whole way though the process. Just when I would begin to get stressed, I would meet with her, or text her and she was always so confident and calm, it really put me at ease to know she was taking care of everything (my mom too). The Madrid is so elegant, we had our ceremony and reception, on site. Our guests loved it, because they never had to leave! Can't imagine our big day anywhere else!

This was a stunning and beautiful venue. We decorated minimally because if was already lit up so much all around the balcony. Missy was very helpful and accommodating and it was definitely a good choice to hold our special day.
We had our wedding at the Madrid Theater earlier this month and it was absolutely amazing!! We instantly fell in love with the Madrid when we toured because of its character and we felt that it was more unique than some of the other popular venues in the KC area. The space is absolutely gorgeous and is a great venue for any wedding but especially if you are going for a timeless, classic wedding vibe. We got so many compliments from guests about how much they loved the venue too. Missy and her team were very professional and great to work with! Our wedding was even better than I could have imagined and this venue made for an absolutely wonderful reception!
Missy was extremely organized and chill. It really helped me to not stress out on my wedding day. I loved the fact that they provided the room set up and linens so that I didn't have to ask my family to do that. The only thing that disappointed about was that the lighting in all of the photos was really dark.
I have a background in musical theatre so we were SO excited to book the Madrid for our reception venue. Missy (the venue coordinator) is incredibly kind, diligent and worked so hard to make our event a success. It was the most beautiful and fun night of our lives and we could not have made that happen without this beautiful space!

My husband and I had the best day of our lives, and the Madrid was the PERFECT location for our reception! Our guests were blown away by the space and professionalism of everyone here!!! We held our wedding reception and the Madrid Theatre and it was the most amazing night ever! The atmosphere is so romantic and unique. We got so many compliments from our guests on how much they loved the venue. We loved having the balcony area to use for the cocktail hour. The bartenders were awesome. Our guests rarely had to wait for a drink. The staff at Madrid were amazing. Missy was so helpful with planning the event and helping it to run smoothly. Her organization and attention to detail were incredibly helpful!! We would get married here again in a heartbeat.
We loved having our ceremony and reception at the Madrid Theatre! The Madrid is great because it includes so many necessities for your wedding day: tables, chairs, linens, bar package, security guard, bar glassware, candles/vase glassware, easels. It's also a beautiful venue in general, and there's enough space to hold both your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one place.
I'd also like to specifically acknowledge Missy, the venue coordinator. She's so well-versed in weddings and events at the Madrid, I had an immense amount of confidence that everything at the venue would go well during the wedding. She answered all of my questions leading up to the wedding in a very timely manner, and was very helpful during the rehearsal and the actual wedding. Would absolutely recommend hosting your wedding at the Madrid!
I loved this venue and early communication was great! I was excited to move forward with planning but I ultimately ended up having a negative experience with the Madrid. I am from kansas city but live out of town and had a limited amount of time to tour venues, which I explained to Missy when I scheduled my appointment. I booked the appointment over a month in advance and gave Missy my cellphone number which she said she’d only “use in case of emergency the day of.” I didn’t hear back and received no emergency call so I assumed we were good to go. On the day of my tour, i was running about 5-10 minutes late so i sent a courtesy message to Missy. As i’m sitting in the Madrid parking lot, Missy responded by not only by canceling my appointment but also by telling me that she’d already given my date away. I understand that dates go fast and you have to book quickly, but every vendor i’ve communicated with has at least given a courtesy call. When I mentioned my disappointment in the unprofessionalism, Missy blamed it on someone calling out sick, her being out of town, and the fact that it was a holiday weekend. If you were able to find the time to book my date with someone else over a holiday weekend, i feel you should’ve been able to find the time to call and let me know. I’m so thankful that so many people have had a great experience at this venue but i think accountability is incredibly important, especially when you’re paying so much for it.

I can count on one hand when we have had something happen like this. I’m sincerely sorry it happened to you. As I told you it was a combo of me taking a vacation for the only weekend I didn’t have a wedding in all of 2022. I had your appointment scheduled with my back up person, whom didn’t get me the message until when I let you know (it was an emergency). It is not how we do things, it was unfortunately just a bad combo of rare atypical events.
Thanks to technology I am able to work from anywhere and unfortunately did book the date while I was out of town. We did not have any holds or contracts pending from you on any date. We have dates booking daily so unless you have a contract and paid your deposit, then dates can book before you tour. I always do my best to communicate with clients and potential clients, my clients have my personal cell phone and I respond to texts, calls and emails at all hours of the day an night. I schedule appointments for tours and planning meeting on evenings, weekends and holidays to meet with and make things as accommodating as possible. Our review history shares tons of reviews with people praising us for our prompt and attentive service over and over! So, again, I am very sorry for the chain of events that you personally experienced, but it definitely not something that is a recurring occurrence. Best wishes to you on your event!
We loved having our wedding at the Madrid! We could not ask for a better venue for our celebration. We were looking for a space that would hold a large amount of guests (300) for both the ceremony and reception, in the KC metro, and we were drawn to the beautiful space and the amazing customer service and hospitality the Madrid showed us. Missy and her team were so easy to work with, responsive to emails, helpful throughout the entire process. They allowed us to customize nearly all aspects of the wedding, including the bar menu, without any issues. The wedding went so well- we trusted the Madrid's team and they worked flawlessly with our vendors. We got so many compliments on the space and the set up from our guests. We couldn't recommend the Madrid more!
If you don't hire the Madrid that is too bad for you! Missy is a dream coordinator! And the venue itself is gorgeous! This is probably what I got the most compliments on! Plus I fell in love just even being in a space so grand and beautiful. Everything was done so well and Missy made it so I had no worries day of! I just loved getting to have my reception here!
Missy and the whole Madrid staff were OUTSTANDING! I felt like Missy really took the time to get to know every last detail we wanted for our wedding and then went above and beyond in her execution of it.
We got so many compliments on how stunning and timeless the venue was and so many of my friends now want to have their wedding at the Madrid!
We had to reschedule our wedding twice due to COVID and Missy let us transfer everything over TWO TIMES!!!! with no problem at all. She seriously saved our wedding from a pandemic, so she's truly the best! She made the night so effortless for us and I cannot thank her and the whole Madrid staff enough.
Missy and the staff at the Madrid were amazing to work with! Missy was always on top of answering all of my questions quickly and helped make planning our reception very easy. Plus the Madrid has so many things there you can utilize to not have to worry about renting items from other places. They made set up and tear down super easy for us and our other vendors. The Madrid is such a beautifully restored venue in Kansas City!! What a perfect night in every way!! 5⭐️'s on absolutely everything!! Our daughter and her husband were married December 5, and had to reschedule their reception at The Madrid, to May 1st because of Covid. Missy was wonderful, professional and always timely in her response in helping them navigate the craziness of planning and rescheduling during a pandemic. Debbie helped the weekend of reception, and she was absolutely amazing as well. I felt as if she truly cared about every detail, and thought of all the little things that made everything go seamlessly! Thank you so much for all you did to make this night one our daughter, son in law, family and friends, will cherish forever!!❤️
I can't say enough good things about our experience with the Madrid, Missy and the entire staff! From our first meeting with Missy, up until our wedding day, she was an absolute pleasure to work with. During the planning process, she was extremely professional, detail oriented, organized, responsive and flexible. She also gave us great insight and suggestions for those finer details during the wedding that we would have never considered. She systemized COVID weddings to make planning during 2020 doable and helped us follow all the guidelines. Not only is the Madrid a beautiful venue, but you also get an experienced coordinator with it and that is priceless!

We are so thankful for Missy and her team and all the hard work that they put into preparation for our COVID wedding. They were so understanding and flexible, from organizing all our vendors to putting in new policies and guidelines for putting on a wedding during a pandemic, however most of all pulling off the most beautiful wedding reception. The venue had recently done updates during the quarantine which lead to a fresh coat of paint, updated carpet and a magical venue. The venue itself is stunning and we only had to do minimal floral decorations. A bonus was that all the glassware we were able to borrow from their onsite inventory, which was extremely helpful. Also, there are tons of extras that come with the cost of the venue, i.e. the tables, chairs, linens and even a door guy for security. Nolan and I could have not asked for a better wedding reception, regardless of COVID.

The Madrid Theater was beyond amazing to work with! Missy and the owners were so easy to work with and made sure everything was perfect for our reception, even through the midst of getting married during a pandemic. They were very accommodating to social distancing guidelines and did everything in their power to provide a safe place for us to celebrate! The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous, and has even recently been painted with some new furnishings while being shut down during Covid, making it even better than when we first booked! My husband and I are so pleased with our choice to book the Madrid, they made our wedding day absolutely perfect!! We highly recommend them for all your events!
The Madrid Theatre was the perfect venue for our wedding. We had a guest list of 350 and wanted to accommodate in downtown Kansas City. The Madrid had enough room to have the wedding and ceremony in one location which was important to us. The venue is so beautiful - there is so much natural decor we did not have a lot of extra decorating to do. We had a wedding band which was able to easily set up on the stage and it was so entertaining and fun for our guests. The bar and services staff come with the venue and are great about keeping tables bussed and drinks full :) Missy is the Wedding Coordinator that works at the venue and she was great to work with! She was available at all hours of the day to answer questions and discuss different aspects of the wedding. Day-of she was a freaking rock star and the day was absolutely amazing - looking back my husband and I can not think of one thing we wish had gone differently and that was in big part to Missy and her attentiveness to making our day go as smooth as possible. Highly recommend this venue!!
We had our wedding at the Madrid Theatre in June and it was the absolute perfect day! Missy was a huge help every step of the way and was knowledgeable about how to make the day run smoothly. She coordinated with all our vendors the day of so we did not have to worry about anything and knew that everything was being handled! Our ceremony ran longer than anticipated and Missy made sure that we stayed on schedule. Every time we talk to someone about our wedding, there is always a comment about how beautiful the venue was and it required such little decorating on our part! I could not recommend this venue more.
We first visited the Madrid Theatre for a concert several months before getting engaged. Once we were engaged, the Madrid was the first venue we visited -- and we fell in love. The architecture of the building itself is elegant and romantic, and is only enhanced by any flowers or decor you choose to add. Missy, the in-house wedding coordinator, was also wonderful and easy to work with. She was very patient with all of our questions, allowed us to visit the venue again closer to our wedding day to help us finish planning the details of our day, and was very helpful the week of the wedding. We were able to come in and set-up our decor a few days before the event, and Missy, the owners, and their team even collected items left behind and stored them securely until I could pick them up. In addition to all of this, the all-inclusive wedding packages and access to use of their collection of decor like vases, candles, and table numbers that we could use made the planning process seamless. Everything came together like a dream and we could not have imagined a better reception -- our guests still rave about the venue as well!

Words can’t describe how beautiful the Madrid Theatre is, and I can’t begin to say how impressed I was from day one with Missy. She answered all my crazy emails, gave me awesome suggestions for vendors and above all, made sure this day was perfect for my daughter and her husband. There isn’t anything I can say in a review to express my gratitude. I would recommend Madrid to everyone. Absolutely perfect from our first visit. I also want to give an extra thanks, we left some things at the venue. They had an event the next day, Missy called me back right away and had everything secure for me to pick up later. So blessed.
We chose the Madrid for our Daughter's Wedding and reception as we were looking for a one-stop plug and play solution. From the planning through the event, the staff at the Madrid handled everything we needed. They took our concept, walked us through the various options they offered (which pretty much included everything we needed), and on the day of the event executed every aspect of the event flawlessly from set up, vendor management, event coordination, guest parking, security, bar tending and tear down.
The only things we had to pay for outside of this venue were the caterer, baker sound tech/equipment and any table decorations. We had 5 hours of access pre-event, and 6 hours to do the Wedding and Reception. Once the Wedding Ceremony was over, we all went up to the balcony for cocktails while they flipped the room for the Reception. Post-Reception they packaged up our belongings and had us on our way in under an hour. We literally had to show up, enjoy the event and leave, everything else was covered. We could not have asked for a better organization / venue to partner with
This was just the most beautiful venue we looked at for our wedding! And they remodeled before our wedding and made it even more beautiful. Missy was very adaptable when we wanted to bring in our own wine or change the beer selection. It's an absolutely gorgeous space that you would love for your wedding!

When looking for a wedding venue we knew we wanted a space with character. Madrid Theatre has it all...romantic, charming and historic. All our guests had such a great time at our reception. Just wished the evening could have lasted longer!
The Madrid Theatre was our wedding Venue and we couldn't be happier with the quality, service, and professionalism given to us! Missy was our wedding coordinator for the day and helped us up until the day and even after as we wrapped everything up! The space was perfect for our large guest list where we occupied both main floor and the upstairs! It has such a beautiful space were decor was very minimal on our end! We highly recommend this space for any future weddings!
WE LOVED THE MADRID! From the moment we stepped into the venue, we knew then and there that that is where we wanted to have our reception. It is classic and just gorgeous! Missy was so helpful and flexible and met with us multiple times to help us create our vision for our reception.
The all inclusive packages were great and so easy for planning purposes. The venue has it's own collection of decorations for you to use at no charge. We also LOVED to see our names on the sign outside- so special!

The venue was breathtaking, upon entering it, the night of the reception. The ornate decor and beautiful lighting added ambiance and we continue to receive compliments about the reception and the venue. I would highly recommend this venue, as it is truly stunning for weddings!

Our day was made perfect not only by the amazing look and feel of The Madrid Theatre but the staff (Missy and the owners) truly care and will do whatever it takes to ensure that your event goes off without a hitch. Missy will answer any question that comes to your mind without hesitation. Our event seated 230 guests VERY comfortably. We had both our ceremony and reception here and the room flip was a flawless process due to Missy and her team. Highly recommend going for a tour here as The Madrid allows you to borrow anything in their closet of goodies from vases, votives, decor, mirrored centerpieces, etc... They provide dishes, tables, linens, chairs, everything. Price was very reasonable for the countless meetings with the coordinator and for not having to spend a fortune on renting your own things to use only one time.

It's so magical inside it's hard not to have an elegant night - the stage was perfect to have our ceremony & Missy worked with the band so their set up was easy as well. Missy checked in throughout the year leading up to the wedding and was quick to answer any of my questions (no matter how small) or meet with me when I was feeling nervous. The Madrid is absolutely stunning. The amount of work that went in to restore and improve the space is astonishing. If you told me I would throw a party at The Madrid five years ago, I would've said you were crazy. But as it is now, you wouldn't be disappointed and it's only getting better. I wanted a space that was beautiful (check), wheelchair accessible (check), and had a definite presence (check). Missy was amazing and really easy to work with. She helped coordinate with all the vendors, kept the night moving, and adjusted well if we were behind on schedule. Missy is also really good at keeping secrets! Both my husband and I had a couple of tricks up our sleeves to surprise one another at the reception and Missy was tight-lipped. Choosing The Madrid was definitely the right choice for us. We had an amazing live band that killed it on stage. We wanted our reception to be a party and The Madrid far exceeded our expectations.
Picking Madrid as our reception venue was pretty easy. The theatre is beautiful and Missy the wedding coordinator is wonderful! She was easy to communicate with and did a wonderful job helping us plan the perfect wedding reception for our day. Guests loved the venue and of course the open bar! Would not have changed anything about our day! Thank you Madrid!
Our experience at the Madrid Theatre was absolutely phenomenal. The venue itself is so tasteful that you cannot believe your eyes. We knew this was the venue for us the moment we walked in. The fact that it includes drinks, tables, chairs, decorations, other miscellaneous items is a massive bonus. It leaves you more time to focus on what is important.
A huge bonus is that it comes with Missy! She is basically your wedding planner and helps you along the way. Missy corresponded with the florists, the caterer, the cake person, the band, etc. She does it all! I never felt stressed because she was always throwing in and helping. The big day comes and she is available to open up the venue and let you drop off supplies. I went by multiple times to leave stuff for the wedding so she could set it up. Just amazing. The venue was stunning for our reception and the drinks were flowing. Everything was just right. The lighting was beautiful and the decor was fantastic. Wedding planning is a lot of work but the reception was so awesome it made it worth it. YOU WANT YOUR WEDDING AT THE MADRID. You even get a cool marquee for your big day. You basically get to have your own concert on your wedding day. HOW AWESOME IS THAT.
The price is fantastic and there are multiple options for every budget. You can do just beer and wine or you can ball out and go top shelf. Missy is so helpful at narrowing down the contract and getting to the final dollars. She is really responsive and helpful. A lot of other venues nickel and dime you. At the Madrid, it is in one and done!
The Madrid Theatre is so beautiful inside! Great upstairs for cocktail hour great space for a buffet beautiful entry way with wonderful fountain in the stair case! The stage is wonderful we didn’t actually use it but if we had a live band it would have been amazing. But the red curtain was perfect for projecting our GOBO! I could go on and on about how wonderful the Madrid Theatre is, but the best part about the Madrid is Missy! She is there to do whatever you need. She is super attentive and pays close attention to detail. She knows all the ins and outs of the Madrid Theatre, but she also is a wedding planner. She sees everything and notices everything and was SUCH and AMAZING help. When you book the Madrid Theatre you get Missys services as a wedding planner, and can also hire her on for more, like to go to the ceremony with you. Which is what we did and it was THE BEST decision!! It was so great to have her there knowing we could rely on her and she would be there to help and fix any issues that arose. Book the Madrid Theatre for its beauty but also for Missy!!
We could not have asked for a more beautiful venue than The Madrid Theatre. It was the very first place we looked -- and we knew the moment we walked in, that this was it! From the early stages of planning, up to the very last detail, Missy was incredible. We had our ceremony and reception here, and the flow between the ceremony, to the cocktail hour and flip for the reception was seamless! We utilized the stage with a great band, used the grand staircase for family photos, and the guests never had a wait for a drink at the beautiful Spanish bars. All of our guests said they wanted to all get married again, and use this event space! Missy and the staff were just the absolute best to work with! I highly recommend this venue, and Missy to anyone wanting that beautiful, perfect wedding day.
We cannot thank enough the Madrid and specifically Missy for the exceptional job they did. We definitely could've not picked a better place. It was nice to have a venue that offers an all-inclusive. Reducing the number of vendors was key. The venue itself is beautiful and everyone still talking about how pretty it was. Missy and crew did a phenomenal job making our life easy before and the day of. VERY happy with this place. Congratulations to the Madrid for the amazing job done.
We had our daughter's wedding and reception at the beautiful Madrid. From start to finish Missy did a great job of taking care of us. Being our first wedding we had lots of questions. She was always prompt to answer and very pleasant to work with. The venue was perfect for having a wedding then being able to move everyone(215) upstairs for cocktails and appetizers while the downstairs was switched to tables for the reception. One thing that amazed me on that night was how truly beautiful everything was and that pictures really don't do it justice. I had many compliments on how gorgeous the Madrid was. My daughter said "it was the best day ever" and Missy was "amazing!"
I had my wedding reception at Madrid Theatre in October and it was amazing! The venue was beautiful and had more than enough room for the 250 guests that attended. Missy (event coordinator) was so fun to work with and made the whole process so easy. Even guests at my reception made comments about how well organized and on top of everything Missy was. She contacted every vendor for us and made sure everything was delivered on time and set up prior to our event. I would and will recommend the Madrid to anyone who is looking to have their wedding ceremony and/or reception in Kansas City (any type of event for that matter!).

Outstanding and magical!! Those are the first two words that come to mind when I think of my experience with Missy & the Madrid Theatre. I was planning a wedding for ~300 people from Texas, and I had so many bouts of nervousness, hesitation, questioning my planning decisions, etc. Missy was so kind and understanding throughout the entire process. Although I chose to use a wedding planner, Missy is truly on top of things and can handle everything at the reception space if you chose not to use a planner! In my case, she worked closely with my wedding planner to make sure everything was perfection for our wedding day. I was only in Kansas City a handful of times, so our meetings were at the mercy of my travel schedule -- she was always flexible and always made it work for me to come to the space and work through things, even if she was in the middle of setting up for another event!!
The day of, the Madrid was STUNNING! It is such a unique space and honestly, I had my own hesitations throughout planning because seeing it empty for a concert, perhaps, does not do justice to the transformation that happens when Missy & her magical team get to work. I heard our guests chattering all night about how special, unique and beautiful the space was. We easily fit a wedding of 290 comfortably, with plenty of space for dance floor, photo booth, cocktail space, buffets, etc. I cannot say enough good things about Missy & The Madrid and I would recommend it to anybody for a unique, romantic, theatre atmosphere.
We got married in Kansas City about two and a half weeks ago. We had our reception at the Madrid Theater, and we couldn't be happier with our decision! The Madrid itself is a beautiful event space. All of our guests commented on how beautiful and unique it was, and they loved the cocktail hour on the balcony. People are still raving about it more than two weeks later. We loved having our reception there and wish we could relive that day over again, it was such a blast!
Missy, the Sales and Event Coordinator is amazing! She has many years of experience in the wedding planning industry, and thus she knows what clients want. She has made a lot of changes through her years of experience to make wedding/reception planning easier for the bride and groom. Customer service is at the top of her list, and almost everything was done by her and her staff, which minimized the number of vendors we had to hire. We went with the all-inclusive package, which includes bar service and bartenders, security at the door, linens (which is super helpful; not all events spaces include this ), wait staff, and set-up and take-down. You pay extra for any time beyond four hours of rental, but it was worth it! It was so nice not having to rent linens from a separate company, not having to pay the bartenders separately, and not having to worry about set-up and take-down. She has specific food vendors she recommends so they're technically a separate vendor, but it was still so easy for us. The food vendors were also very professional. Missy was great at communicating with us, responded promptly to e-mails and phone calls, and even did some work while she was away on her vacation. She was very professional and knows what to anticipate. We were very confident and reassured that she would be in charge the night of the reception.
The Madrid was awesome! Many of our guests commented that it was one of the prettiest venues they've ever seen. Missy was great to work with - very helpful. You don't think of this right away (at least we didn't), but it is extremely helpful come wedding time to work with a venue that provides everything like the Madrid does. Would do again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I hosted our wedding reception at the Madrid in May 2017, and we would recommend every couple host their reception at this venue. You will be very impressed with the beautiful theatre and service!
I grew up in Kansas City, but currently live in Los Angeles and was planning our wedding from a distance. The first time we saw the Madrid, we knew that it would be perfect for our reception. My husband works in the movie industry in LA, and it was very special for us to host our wedding in a historic silent movie theatre from the 1920’s. The interior is beautiful, with a gorgeous staircase and lots of gold accents. The theatre is glamorous, romantic, and vintage all at the same time.
Missy was amazing to work with and helped with all of the details and with my timeline. She had great suggestions on the layout for the venue. I really appreciated how I was able to drop off my centerpieces with instructions and the staff did all the setup before our reception, and clean-up after our reception was finished. Missy also coordinated with my cake baker, DJ, and photobooth for setup and delivery. This allowed me to have the time to host a bridal luncheon with my bridesmaids on the Friday before our wedding, and I could focus on having fun with my bridesmaids getting ready Saturday morning, instead of stressing out about small things like if the cake delivery was on time.
Because we live out of town, we had a lot of guests flying in from LA and NYC. We had about 130 guests, and they were all very impressed by the venue. Our friends from NYC kept asking me, “How did you find this place, it is so amazing?” I’m still hearing comments from our friends and family on what a beautiful and perfect wedding it was. I had several friends comment on how they loved the cocktail hour upstairs on the balcony overlooking the main dining area. After cocktail hour, the guests headed downstairs for dinner and dancing. The dining room looked stunning with the gold chivari chairs and gold chargers. We loved having our names up on the marquee outside. Our photographer and videographer got some amazing photos and video outside the theatre at night.
The Madrid was a great value. The Madrid saved us on our budget because we didn’t have the expense of a day-of-coordinator. We didn’t need to spend much money on décor because they allowed us to use their mirrors, table number holders, and glassware for our floral centerpieces. We also didn’t need to invest in draping or uplighting, like we would have at some other venues. We also used the Madrid’s gold easels to hold a welcome sign for our guests at the entrance. Their all-inclusive package included tables, linens, catering, and a bar package, so we didn’t have to deal with multiple vendors and delivery charges because it was all taken care of. On a practical note, when we were searching for venues, we wanted to make sure that the location was close to hotels on the Plaza, had plenty of parking, and guests could easily catch an Uber after taking advantage of the open bar. The Madrid checked all of these boxes off our list!
We have been to so many weddings recently with the rustic/country/barn/mason jar theme, and we wanted something different. We wanted to look back at our wedding photos, and host an event that had a more glamorous and timeless feel to it. The Madrid absolutely delivered. We would definitely recommend that you take a tour of this gorgeous venue and see it for yourself!
How do I even begin to put in words how incredible my experience was with Madrid and Missy?! I recently had my wedding reception at the Madrid Theater on May 20th and it was truly such a dream. I remember standing behind the red curtains on the stage, waiting to get announced along side my husband and wedding party, and peeking through the curtains... What I saw actually blew me away. There was this glow in the room and everything had come together even better than I had planned. Missy went above and beyond and made my wedding image come to life. It was the most beautiful reception I had ever seen, even better filled with all my family and friends. During the reception Missy was always on top of things. She helped keep the reception on track and made sure we knew when it was first dance time, cake cutting time, bouquet toss, ect. The way she helps make it flow is just flawless. She will make it exactly how you want it, no matter what. She is willing to meet as many times as you need to make sure it is how you want it to be; she is very flexible!!! I cannot name ONE THING that went wrong that evening. It was the most perfect day of my life and Missy and the Madrid helped make that happen. If you are looking for a wedding ceremony/reception venue that will be all that you ever dreamed of, Madrid Theater is the place for you!!
There are so many things that I could share about the Madrid. To truly review it, I have to give a little personal background first. We'd waited 15 years to get married. When an opportunity came for us to finally do so, we were nervous about setting plans in action. I’d planned my wedding when I was 12, no joke. I’d written it all down in a spiral notebook and put it where no one could find it. I was excited to finally pull it out; laughing a lot at the ideas a 12 year old had regarding wedding planning. We set out to find a venue that could hold a very large number of people, fit our personalities, and offered an amazing value. Kansas City is big, but not that big. We looked at convention centers, mansions, theatres, country clubs, and entertainment venues, both new and old. It became apparent that there were not many that fit our categories and even fewer that were large enough for our families, colleagues, and friends. The other thing we noticed was that in a day and age when times are changing, in Kansas City, some are not. Sadly, we encountered venues that in not-so-subtle ways turned us away. Whether it was a phone message left unanswered, a very obvious “we are booked that date, and the next, and every other”, or just a simple “no”, we were getting disheartened.
The last appointment we had was with the Madrid Theatre. Perhaps it was fate or just dumb luck, we met Missy McVicker and the Madrid. We had both driven by the theatre a million times in our lives. As a theatre teacher, the thought of a stage and lights appealed to me. We walked in to the grand lobby, met Missy, and fell in love. If you haven’t been there, the theatre is a throwback to a golden age. It has an old Hollywood feel and is beautifully appointed throughout. When it is lighted and decorated, it is magical. Missy greeted us warmly and never blinked an eye as she started planning what would be our dream wedding. It was obvious that the thought that she was talking to two men never, ever crossed her mind . .we were never made to feel less than, or uncomfortable. In all of our tours and visits, we had never encountered someone like Missy. Missy was helpful, kind, and nurtured the vision of a 12 year old to fruition. Her help in determining a fantastic caterer, placing our guests, and use of a huge amount of her in house table décor took our event from a reception, to a celebration to talk about for years. As we worked with her over the months leading up to our wedding, we also had the opportunity to meet the owners. By happenstance, we came to the theatre to drop off or measure something, and the owners were there working on their venue. Their pride is evident; their warmth was appreciated.
The value! We found no venue in the city that compared. When marrying an auditor, budgets are important, and value is key. The Madrid offers world class catering and a fantastic bar service. The staff the evening of the wedding was gracious; making everyone, all 500 and some guests, feel special. I still talk about the server that was assigned to the tables of the wedding party. He knew our names and checked in throughout the evening to make sure our evening was extra special. Our evening was flawless, dramatically beautiful, and beyond my wildest dreams. At 12, when you plan a wedding for the future husband that you don’t want anyone to know about, you include Legos and rainbow sprinkles, huge red roses, and sparkle like no other. Thank you Missy and the Madrid. Bravo!
The Madrid Theatre was perfect for our wedding reception and very spacious, which was important. Missy set up the tables with the decor exactly as I had described along with the table layout. The stage was an added bonus for our wedding party and the guests loved the option of the upper balcony. Our guests loved the Madrid and the fact of how spacious everything was and could see the wedding party due to the stage. Missy was awesome to work with and very accommodating.
Our experience could not have been better. Missy patiently walked us through the all-inclusive option we chose. The venue is gorgeous. We used Brancato's which is one of the preferred vendors for food and unlimited drinks. Guests raved from the moment they walked in. I never had to check to see if anything was being set up or if things were in time. I was able to enjoy the entire event.
Missy is so amazing to work with! She made everything easy. She was pragmatic and did not oversell or upsell, unlike a lot of other wedding vendors. She listened and made suggestions that saved us time. We talked to her about catering budgets and what we wanted--and she made two really good suggestions. We had difficulty choosing between those two because they both seemed perfect. She helped us envision all sorts of group size arrangements (because we had no sense of how many of our 300+ invited guests would actually attend).
She accommodated what made our wedding unique (we wanted more lighting brought in and she helped us work with that vendor, we used a non-professional DJ, etc.)
Missy is incredibly professional, and knows the ins and outs of the Madrid space from her years of experience there. I highly recommend the Madrid as a wedding venue!
We hosted our daughter's wedding reception at the Madrid. We loved the venue and so did our guests. The gallery proved to be a perfect place for appetizers, and the first floor easily accommodated our 200 guests for dinner and dancing. The Madrid is interesting in architecture, spotlessly clean, and its location is plus for those of us who love being in the heart of Kansas City. Missy McVicker, the coordinator for the Madrid, is wonderful. She is knowledgeable, competent, easy going, and she inspires confidence as she takes care of every detail with an unflappable and professional manner.
The Madrid was absolutely beautiful! Missy was so incredibly easy to work with and catered to my husband and I's needs. The packages were definitely economical and I definitely felt like I got a bang for my buck!! The event space is so gorgeous even without decorations but the second my florist went to work I just knew the space was going to be perfect for us. The amount of compliments we got was astounding! And with the beauty of the space it does not bring a hefty price tag like a lot of other venues in KC, so that was a huge bonus when planning our corporate party. We had our wedding reception at the Madrid in August. We fell in love with the openness of the venue, the all inclusive package, and the experience of the event coordinator Missy. Our wedding was so easy to plan, it turned our beautifully and we enjoyed every minute from planning to partying with our friends and family! Choosing the Madrid Theatre was the best decision we made, besides deciding to get married! I just saw where, the Madrid was voted Best Wedding Venue in KC, I have to agree! It was perfect!
The venue was the perfect choice for our wedding! We had 340+ people & they were very accommodating . Plenty of room for everyone & enough staff to keep up with the bartending needs. Missy, the event planner, did a great job on keeping us involved & informed throughout the whole process. The theatre is beautiful & it really fulfilled the vision we had for "the perfect place" for our ceremony & reception. It has a lot of charm & is located right in downtown KC. Many hotels are just within a mile of the venue so it was very easy for guests to attend from out of town. I highly recommend the All-Inclusive packages they offer. It makes the planning process that much easier when they are put in charge of many of the details. As a bride, you have enough details to worry about so that was definitely a perk! The Madrid is the most fabulous place to have your wedding ceremony, reception and dance. Our daughter's wedding was held there this last Friday, 9-9-16. I cannot say enough positive comments about the place. It is a beautiful historic venue. The entryway, the balcony and the stage were beautiful.
We had the all-inclusive package and it was great! Brancato's was the caterer and it was the best food I've ever had at a wedding. We had a guest list of 350 and everyone was seated comfortably. Everyone was commenting how great the food was.
What made this special day stress free was MISSY, the wedding coordinator. Missy and her entire staff were amazing. They made sure everything ran smoothly, which made my day and evening so relaxing.
Our guests commented that they had never attended a wedding as organized and as beautiful. We had the ceremony on a Friday evening at 6:30pm, drinks at the bar at 6:45 pm and dinner at 7:00 pm. They have 2 bars and 2 dinner lines, both upstairs and downstairs which made it so easy for all the guests. Restrooms on both levels and elevator if needed. Also, a huge refrigerator for storing anything you might need for the wedding.
At The Madrid Theatre they have thought of everything you will need to make your special event great! Thanks to Missy, the owners and their staff, my daughter had the wedding of her dreams and we can't thank you enough!
Shopping for a wedding venue became overwhelming. When we got the opportunity to meet Missy at Madrid Theatre we immediately felt at ease. The building is beautiful inside. We really liked that the all-inclusive package was presented as a price per person. This made it easier for us to calculate our budget. The convenience of the all inclusive package and coordination is priceless. The outcome was beautiful. Great value! Great service! Great venue!
While searching for a wedding venue, I toured multiple event spaces and it seemed that many of these spaces were either difficult to contact, had confusing pricing options, didn't have flexibility in the vendors I could use, etc. Fortunately I found the Madrid Theatre. Madrid made it very easy to plan my reception while offering a beautiful venue that fit right into my budget! Our one and only regret is that we did not rent this space for more event time, we never wanted the night to end
We had our wedding at the Madrid Theatre. This place is beautiful and the service we received was the best! We had about 400 guests. The parking was absolutely no problem at all as the venue has several parking lots and lots of on street parking. My guests really loved the balcony with the extra seating and it also gave them a great view of the dance floor festivities. Missy was so patient and helpful and she was always very quick in responding to any questions. Madrid Theatre is the best!
We first visited the Madrid Theatre soon after our engagement. We booked our reception the first time we visited! We used the balcony level for a cocktail reception before everyone went downstairs to the main level for dinner and dancing. We were very happy there was an elevator, which was very helpful for our less mobile guests, as well as restrooms on both floors (some spaces we looked at didn't have the bathrooms so well distributed). Our wedding day was absolutely perfect! If Madrid Theatre is on your list for possible venues then drop the others and go with the Madrid Theatre!

The Madrid Theatre is magical and I could not have picked a better place to get married. The domed ceilings, entryway fountain and double staircase are beautiful. We loved shooting our wedding photos in the Madrid. We worked with the event manager, Missy. She is attentive, helpful and very responsive to questions. She worked with us regarding our schedule, budget and decor while offering valuable feedback, helpful tips and recommendations. Needles to say, our wedding was magical, easy, stress-free and most importantly....FUN! My husband and I feel proud of our wedding. I give Madrid Theatre my highest recommendation!
