“My work is inspired by the 1950′s analog photography. The images back then were raw and so beautiful. They were true moments frozen in time. I would say my biggest influencer is Bob Willoughby who is best known for his images captured on the sets of old hollywood films. Anytime I am feeling uninspired, all I have to do is go through his images.
It has always been my goal to bring back that emotion to wedding photography which is why I shoot both digital and analog photography. There is just nothing like it.”

Meghan was so easy to work with. I haven't gotten our final photos yet, but we just saw our sneak peek of the wedding photos, and we are so excited to see the rest. What she showed us so far was absolutely beautiful! She also did our engagement photos and I love them so much. You could tell she knew what she was doing and she knew which shots would look good. I've heard some people say the wedding photos take away from the enjoyment of the day, because you feel like you're always working to get those perfect shots. I can honestly say Meghan did such a good job of not making the photos feel like work. We had so much fun with the photos and we were still able to enjoy everything else that was happening around us! Highly recommend her!
Meghan did a wonderful job capturing our wedding day. The photos turned out absolutely stunning! She was very easy to communicate with and responsive to messages. She made us feel so comfortable. The turn around time on our photo album was quick! We could not recommend Meghan and her work more!

My now husband & I had to reschedule not once, but twice due to COVID. Meghan was super understanding & professional throughout the entire process. She made the experience so worth the wait!! We have memories that will last a lifetime. I highly recommend her for all your photography needs.
When I hired Mae Small Photography, I paid the $1000 required deposit and an extra $425 via PayPal for her travel costs, though travel wasn’t specified in her contract. Unfortunately, I decided to call off the wedding. When I canceled, I asked for my $425 back that I had sent via PayPal to buy her plane ticket. Per her contract, any extra fees paid (aside from the deposit) can be returned to the client. When I had approached her about this, she informed me that she didn’t have the fees. Which is totally okay! I get it! But I told her we could work something out or do payment plans. She failed to acknowledge this or talk about resolutions to sort this out. So I waited a few days to ask when I could expect the refund or at least some timeframe. All other vendors I had hired had sent me back their extra fees so she was the last to do so. In her response to me, she hurled personal insults and stated that I was harassing her. The conversation was far from professional, but I stayed calm. At the end of the day, she’s not traveling for my wedding; therefore that travel fee should be returned. A photographer not following their own contact is problematic to me.
After almost a week of trying to sort this out, she finally told me that she would PayPal my money back so I waited until the next day-no payment. I sent her a text and found out that my messages were no longer going through (they went to green) so I sent messaged her via her social media because I saw she was active. She texted me the next day to tell me that she was working a wedding. I responded and asked her if we could talk about my refund-assuming she would have the fees since she has income coming in. No response. I decided to escalate things so I filed a PayPal claim to get my money back since she was not going to willingly refund me.
This review is in no way to bash. But as a business owner, you must take responsibility. You cannot keep extra money when your contract doesn’t state that-this is stealing.
Whether or not I get my money back, I just want to let others know to not overpay any vendor because in the event your wedding is cancelled, you may never see those funds again. I’m not saying don’t hire her-just don’t overpay ANY vendor too early in advance. She does beautiful work and she truly is talented. But the way she handles issues is a little worrisome. If she isn’t willing to follow her own rules, perhaps she should update her contract.
I hope she displays more professional behavior in the future with her next clients. There is always a chance to do better.
To put it simply, we fell in love with Meghan right from the start! SHE IS THE BEST. Hands down. Not only is she wildly talented, but she has the biggest heart and the most amazing personality! She doesn’t just give her clients a timeless, priceless, beautiful keepsake, but she also gives them an unforgettable experience. She flawlessly made sure every single detail was captured on our wedding day. She never rushed us, and she made sure we were always relaxed and having fun during photos. She made everyone so comfortable and happy all day long!! Our friends and family absolutely adored her!! She was timely, professional, communicative, and always so so kind. She even checked in with me the week of the wedding multiple times to see if I needed anything. We love our photos SO MUCH (literally, there wasn’t one that we didn’t absolutely love) and we can’t wait to have Meghan capture more of our memories in the future! We feel so blessed to have someone as talented as Meghan in our lives. We will never be able to thank her enough for being such a big part of our special day and giving us stunning photos that we will treasure forever. :) Anyone who is looking for a photographer for any type of event/milestone needs to work with Meghan!!! :)
If you want to feel like your wedding pictures are straight out of a magazine, (and who doesn’t want that?!) then choose Meghan!!
She was very responsive, organized, and flexible leading up to the day (even with a date change due to covid—bless her), and then absolutely killed it at our wedding. She captured every detail of our day. Looking through the gallery is like reliving it in an even more beautiful form!
She is beyond talented and artistic and I am so thankful she captured our day.
I’ve received so many compliments from people saying that our photos are the best they’ve ever seen and that they wish she would’ve been their photographer. I couldn’t agree more. You will not be disappointed!

Meghan Small is not a photographer I would hire again due to her lack of communication and professionalism.
Meghan Small was hired to do the photography and videography for our wedding July 6, 2019. We were provided with our wedding photos and waited for our wedding video. She did not respond to a number of emails and text messages over a span of several months. She then unprofessionally notified me of lost video footage of our entire wedding day via email. Meghan indicated a refund payment by the first week of March 2020, which she did not follow through with. Meghan reports she has the audio from my wedding day. I have requested the audio she has, however Meghan has not complied with this request. I would not trust Meghan again with my wedding day, or photography needs.
Throughout times of unresponsiveness to emails and text messages, Meghan was noted to have consistently shared and posted on social media. It seems difficult to understand how business emails do not take priority over social media.
Meghan’s contract states “The Photographer agrees to deliver the above images and products no later than 30 – 60 days after the wedding date” and “In the very unlikely event that images are lost due to technical failures of memory cards, hard drives, computer, ect. couple will receive refund of entire balance.” Neither of which Meghan has abided by.
Meghan does not like when family members take photos at weddings (which, at the time I could totally respect!). However, if the raw image photos you were promised, and your entire wedding day video footage are lost, you will be very happy your family took those photos and videos to help capture memories of your day and the true color palate you chose.
WE LOVED HER. Mae has been the photographer a couple of weddings I've been in and is really upbeat and fun to work with. She went above and beyond throughout the day and was even able to wrangle our crazy (rather large) wedding parties. I would definitely recommend her!
I booked Mae over a year in advance for my destination wedding. When I was planning my wedding the only thing I really wanted was a wedding video. I was promised both photography and videography. Unfortunately I will NEVER receive a wedding video. The disc was damaged and her response was "these things happen." I am overall a very understanding person but I do not appreciate the way this was handled. It took her 8 months to finally tell me that I was NOT going to receive a wedding video. Communication was poor in those long 8 months of waiting. Sadly I am not the only bride who will not receive a wedding video. With that being said, a genuine apology and reimbursement would be appreciated at this point for getting 50% of the product promised. Unfortunately, I would not recommend using her for your videography needs.
My friend used her for her destination wedding as a photographer and videographer. It has been 8 months since her wedding and she has not received her video and was just informed by Mae Small that the disk with the content was damaged. I understand that things happen but my friend should have received her video way before the 8 month mark and during this time Mae Small was almost impossible to get a hold of. When contacted to get more information on the status of her video she would either not respond or respond back with vague information. It is beyond disappointing that there was not a back up plan in place in case of lost material. As a "professional" photographer who handles these precious memories you would think she would be more responsible.
A professional photographer to me takes making sure your precious memories are safe as there number one priority. When you are promised both amazing photos and video of the most important special day of your life and receive only half of what you are promised and paid for is unacceptable. My friend has waited 8 MONTHS for her wedding video of her and her husbands destination wedding and was recently informed that the disk with her and other brides videos was been damaged and unable to retrieve any of their memories. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!! To be a professional photographer you would think having these memories saved to more than one place and kept on the SD cards until the project was finished would make the most sense. I feel so sad for these brides that will never be able to watch their special day and cherish the memories that anyone who has gotten married knows you never can remember because the day goes by so fast. Please if you are looking for a reliable photographer who is timely in getting back to you and if you are wanted to receive what you paid for DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS PHOTOGRAPHER!!!!!
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! We were so happy we chose Mae as our photographer! She was great to work with leading up to the wedding, very responsive. We had a lot of fun at our engagement shoot. Both my husband and I do not like taking pictures, but she made us feel comfortable and not look as awkward as we really are sometimes.
The day of she took charge and kept things running smoothly, I'm so grateful she was there to help because our wedding planner was not able to make it to our wedding. The pictures turned out gorgeous! Beautifully curated work. I would HIGHLY recommend Mae for any and all Omaha weddings.
Meghan was hands down one of the most important vendors on our day and was worth every penny! She took on so many more roles than just a photographer. She helped our day go so smooth and made us feel so comfortable and enjoy every second. I would chose Mae Small Photography every time!

I simply cannot say enough good things about Mae. She is an absolute dream to work with. I learned of her when a friend from high school got married and I saw her photos online, though years from being married (or even engaged), I started following her on social media. Fast forward to just a couple weeks after the proposal and I contacted and booked her for our big day. When we first met her for engagement photos, she wowed me with not only how fun she was to work with, but how incredibly beautiful they were and how well she captured the most mundane moments.
She was hands down my favorite vendor to work with. When everything else got chaotic, she was always on my side and brining a smile to my face as well my entire wedding party. Everyone around said how fun her and her husband, Tim were. I was worried we may not have captured enough photos on the day of, but when I received our link full of breathtaking images, I couldn’t have been happier with the array of different locations throughout the day, the special moments, the tears, the laughs, and everything in between. Her photos have a timeless romance to them that I can’t stop swooning over.
Meghan is the BEST. With me having such a big family, I was worried we would not get all of the pictures done in time. She made it happen with ease. I can’t thank her enough. I love my wedding photos. It’s amazing how she captured EVERY moment of our wedding day. Can’t thank her enough. I will recommend her to anyone any day!!

Meaghan took or engagement and wedding photos. She did an incredible job! She even came a day early to ensure she would not miss our Omaha April blizzard wedding! My wedding photos turned out absolutely beautiful! 6 months later, I still awe over them. I couldn't believe how many great photos she captured of my husband and I! Our engagement session also went fabulously! I felt like I frustrated her by having a separate company do videography, but that was just my wish for my wedding. Overall, our personalities might not have meshed the greatest, but I have beautiful pictures thanks to her amazing work.
Meghan is incredible. Not only is her caliber of work fantastic and creative, but she is calm and collected––just what we needed on our wedding day. I didn't worry about a single thing. She knew exactly what shots she needed and was so prepared. After your formal pictures with immediate family, many of your guests will start to drag your around and ask for lots of pictures without realizing how tired you are of "saying cheese." Meghan recognized this in us and swooped in to distract them with more candid shots so we could go back to enjoying the food and dance. We just enjoyed the day while she captured every special moment. If you want to work with a photographer who is exceptionally talented, flexible, fun, and an absolute pro, work with Meghan!
Mae was FABULOUS to work with! I fell in love with her photos from shopping around for photogs online. She definitely prefers to do more candid photos, which was what we wanted (but she also took amazing family portraits). Mae (and her second shooter) blended into the background...so many people commented "I didn't even realize she was there!" I love her "calm yet directive" style (I didn't want to have to think about what photos I wanted, and she took care of everything from how to "be", as well as where the photos would be taken (we were in an interesting venue, the Mastercraft in Omaha, with some awesome photo ops!) Mae also did our engagement photos (in Fullerton where she lives), and we had some really interesting/unique outdoor photos. We wanted a contrast between casual/outdoor summer engagement photos and festive/fancy winter wedding photos, and she was able to capture both quite well! Mae shoots lots of weddings, so she definitely has a quick eye for what she's doing (no matter where she is). For the bride/couple who wants to allow the photographer to be in the driver's seat, Mae is the way to go! Also, she's doing our photo album (which was included in the package we purchased, as was the engagement session), and she allowed us to select which photos we wanted (something I DID want to have input on). In short: Mae is competitively priced and delivers a lot of bang for your buck!

The best of the best! Not only does Mae take amazing pictures, but she is professional and timely. From our very first meeting she made us feel extremely comfortable and relaxed. Everyone involved in our wedding raved about how great she was and we even joke that she is now a part of our family :) Highly, highly recommend!

Meghan is the sweetest most thoughtful person, who truly puts her heart and soul into everything that she does. We had such a wonderful experience with her, and hiring her to photograph our New Year's Eve wedding was hands down the best decision that we made. The pictures were absolutely amazing and creative, there are so many that we are in love with! She even put together an eloquent written recap of the entire day with some of her pictures, and I got a little teary when I read it. Megan not only provided top notch photography, but she was also extremely professional and kept everything on schedule and moving along throughout the day. My husband and I really clicked with Meghan, and her genuine bubbly personality totally added to our wonderful day. I could not be happier with our choice to use Mae Small Photography. We selected the silver package and I took boudoir photos as well. Taking boudoir photos was so fun and Meghan made me feel super comfortable and we just had alot of fun and the pictures turned out fantastic and he LOVED them! Meghan did a great job at the wedding as well. She got so many great shots. Looking back I wish we got more shots of just me and of just me and Jacob, but other than that I have absolutely no complaints! I would 100% recommend Mae Small to everyone! Her prices are very reasonable and she has good turn around time in getting you the photos and giving you sneak peaks on facebook.
We loved working with Meghan! She communicated with us so well and made us feel very relaxed and excited for our pictures. It was tricky since we live out of state but she was flexible and willing to work around our schedule to get engagement pictures done. We also appreciated that she doesn't have time restraints and was willing to stay late until the last picture was captured at our wedding! We loved her work and would definitely recommend her for weddings!
Mae Small Photography was an excellent choice as our wedding photographer for our small town wedding in Central NE. Meghan is professional, personable, easy to contact, and incredibly artistically talented. She finds beauty in everything and definitely conveys that through her pictures. On our wedding day, she was organized and kept things moving without being pushy. She definitely respected our wishes and listened whenever we had ideas, but had plenty of her own to make things go quickly. High, high recommendation. Excellent value for a photographer.
Meghan did such wonderful work on both our wedding and engagement photos. She did a great job capturing both our personalities through each picture, and she ventured out in a 17 degree snow storm just to make our photos unique, AND FABULOUS. She is the kind of person that would do anything to make sure your day is perfect and she has the best bubbly personality! She was comfortable to be around which made it easy and more natural in the pictures, which I loved. I 100% recommend her to any engaged couple.

Choosing Mae Small Photography was 100% one of the best decisions I made in planning my wedding day! My first impression of Meghan (at my brother's wedding) was that she was personal and professional. Also, Meghan is a master at weaving the posed and candid shots; she is an artist at capturing moments(!) and I LOVE the feel/style of the photos she takes...I call it soft and romantic. On a personal level, Meghan is an absolute sweetheart and it was a joy to have her as an integral part of my best day ever!

She really knows how to capture the best moments with not just formal shots, but her candid more fun shots are amazing! On our wedding day, it was snowing and what more could we ask for than to mix the beauty of snow with such an awesome photographer. Meghan braved the weather to help us capture our wedding day and made even the most unexpected places, seem like a winter wonderland.

Meghan is absolutey amazing. I can't say enough good things about her! Her packages are extremely reasonable. She is organized, efficient, and takes the most beautiful shots. No matter what package you choose, you get full wedding-day coverage and an engagement shoot. She is also flexible-- we had to re-schedule our engagement shoot and she was wonderful about it. Meghan is also super kind and outgoing. She makes you feel at ease on your wedding day!
I would also highly recommend the video option! You get a small video story about the day. It is a great deal considering some videographers charge thousands. It is something we will cherish forever!

I met meghan in the summer of 2013 and was in 'ah'. She is so passionate about her career and will make you feel beautiful and important. What meghan did for our wedding i will never have words to thank her. She was amazing at capturing every little detail. Even my husband was so so so happy with her work. I would recommend meghan to everyone who is looking for an awesome person and an amazing photographer.
We had Mae.Small Photography photograph our wedding and she did an amazing job! I wasn't from the town we got married in and she had some really great locations to take pictures. She did a wonderful job of working with what I wanted (I wanted to do pictures after the ceremony so my husband wouldn't see me before) and got everything done just as I had pictured it. The whole day was perfect. She had our disc of pictures to us super quick and she was really affordable! I wouldn't hesitate to use her again!
We absolutely loved Meghan! She was fun, energetic, and organized. From engagement pictures through the whole wedding day she kept everyone organized and took unique, beautiful pictures! After searching the surrounding areas, Mae Small was definitely very reasonably priced. At the time, she was a newer photographer and we loved how accommodating and flexible she was. With our wedding, we really wanted to show a video and she was able to put it together for us, even though it wasn't in her package at the time. We also received a video of our wedding day. It's one thing to have photographs from your wedding day, but it's another to be able to look back at our actions during the most important moments of our day. All of our pictures turned out wonderfully. She was able to capture the moments that meant the most (whether it was during the ceremony, having fun with the wedding party, or the reception).
On top of everything else, another fantastic attribute from Mae Small was after every session, she always posted a sneak peak picture on Facebook. For our engagement session, we had a picture posted within a couple of hours. It's always nerve racking after a session because you worry about how they turned out and how you looked in the picture, but it helped seeing a sneak peak and seeing how great it looked. You were then so excited to see the rest.
Overall, she is definitely the go-to photographer. She is willing to work with you as a couple and make it easier throughout the process. She is someone who will be able to capture all milestones of your life, not just your wedding day.
