This was the perfect venue for our ceremony. It is beautiful on the inside out and the owner is very nice. We had the run of the main floor the day of, as well as she offered the basement level to us. The only complaint I have is that she was very strict on time. Charges you for the rehearsal time the day before (unless you have unused hours from your wedding day timeline) I did not know that when we filled out our contract a year and a half in advance to our wedding, where she had me write the timeline of the day, that she would hold true to that timeline and have us pay extra for any other hours used for the rehearsal. If I would have been thinking a year and a half out about the rehearsal, I would have made the timeline one less hour for the day of to save us money. But no one thinks about that when booking their first venue. She also held us up to 15 minutes to the time even. We worked very quickly the day of and the day before to get everyone in and out and set up and take down quickly but you cant help it if you have a few stragglers that hang around late or show up early. We were fined for people showing up too early for the rehearsal. They rang the bell and she let them in, what was I supposed to do? Go get them and tell them they have to wait outside the driveway because they are too early. We had already specifically told our wedding party to be exactly on time and not early or late as we will be charged. Seemed a little out of our control to me, and cost us 400 bucks!
Let me first start off by saying that the mansion is beautiful and unique venue. Our wedding was beautiful, and everyone just loved the house and the grounds. Once the entire experience was over, I felt very nickled and dimed. Throughout the whole experience I was told one thing, but she did another (and what was done always costed extra money). We chose this venue because we were on a strict budget, and we wanted to choose our own caterer and bring in our own alcohol, but when it was all said and done, having it there ended up being more expensive. In addition, a couple of my guests (including my uncle who walked me down the aisle) was treated very rudely during the rehearsal and the wedding. She made us feel like we were intruding on her home; we did not feel welcome during the rehearsal (which costs an extra $250 for the half hour we were there) or the wedding. I very much got the impression that she did not want us there even though we paid $5000 to be there. I understand that worked very hard, and put in a lot of money into the house, but when we spend $5000 on the venue alone, I expect, at the very least, to at least feel welcome for being there. Overall, I don't regret having my wedding there because it was beautiful, but if I had to do it all over again, I would not of had my wedding here for the above reasons. I am not normally one to post poor reviews, and before my experience I have recommended this venue to many, but I feel like these are a few issues that brides and couples should be aware of before scheduling their wedding there.
Incredibly unique. Authentic antiques in every room. Carriage house available for rent for dancing. Good for weddings and receptions. The owner, Shellie, is super nice too. Can choose any caterer, and can provide your own drinks, which saves a lot of money. I had heavy appetizers, rather than a sit-down dinner, which worked great here. No need to rent a lot of tables, chairs, etc. The savings made up for the rental cost, which isn't bad anyways. Also, it is a fabulous setting for pictures!! We had 130 guests at our reception. More might have seemed crowded. We had good weather, so outdoor/indoor and it was great. Would've been crowded if it had rained. Highly recommend the mansion.
