Jim Wilpula
Owner
Jim formed Mainstreet Soul in 2010, but his musical accomplishments started much earlier. Originally hailing from Ohio, Jim attended Youngstown State University where he majored in jazz studies & music education. During his college years, Jim could be seen playing in the live shows at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. In September 1997, Jim joined The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra and toured extensively throughout the US & Japan.
Besides music, Jim loves to BBQ and cook for his wife Carrie and their friends. He also keeps himself busy with their two dogs, Zack & Abbey.

multiple singers and instrumentalists, did not disappoint. They were extremely easy to work with prior to the gala, took the time to work with us on our specific needs and hopes for what the party would look like. They interacted with our guests before they went on, and got the crowd up and dancing for the entirety of their set. My favorite part was when they performed Steve Wonder's "My Eyes Don't Cry No More" and the lead singer joined the crowd and danced and sang among us.
Though we chose them for their extensive Motown repertoire, I'm confident they can play anything your heart desires. Highly recommend.

All three of our dances were performed by the band, and their special touch and wonderful lead singer really made our first dance special; I thought that the real Alicia Keys was singing live just for us! day. While we had to postpone our wedding due to COVID in early 2020, one of the first things we had prioritized was making sure we had Jim and the crew for our eventual big day. As stressful as planning a rescheduled wedding was, Jim and Main Street Soul kept us upbeat a excited throughout many ups and downs.Â
Jim was the main point of contact through the entire process and he helped make the weeks leading up to our wedding go by as stress free as possible.
During our reception, there were seldom people not on the dancefloor. At one point, Aaron's rendition of "Shout!" absolutely brought the house down and quite literally stopped me in my tracks. The reception was a nonstop party and months later we still have relatives coming up to us raving about the day, "especially that band!"
Reflecting back on the wedding, we have many love filled memories that we cherish about the big day, and we can certainly say that Main Street Soul was at the heart of many of those memories. To all couples looking for a band for their big day, or even if you just want to throw the party of the year, look no further-you've found your band.

start to finish. SO many people came up to us throughout the night complimenting us on how amazing the band was. A friend texted me post-wedding to say that they've never been to a wedding where 95% of people there were on the dance floor. Everyone had so much fun, and it was all thanks to the amazing band!
They were extremely professional during the planning process, were very quick to respond, and were flexible when we needed to make updates to our plans for the day. We not only used the band for our reception, but had Jim (band lead) DJ the ceremony and emcee the reception/speeches and all went SO smoothly.
The band during the reception were truly amazing. They learned our first dance song for us, and then played songs from their song list for our bride/father dance and groom/mother dance. My dad even coordinated with Jim so he could sing a song with the band, and Jim was so kind communicating directly with my dad ahead of the wedding to make this happen. It was an unforgettable moment!
The band was amazing at feeling out the crowd and playing songs that fit the moment. We told the band a few songs we wanted to hear from their song list, and let them feel out the rest. Song highlights: "Bang Bang" - we were bowing down to the singers after this because they were SO talented (better than the original song!); "Dancing Queen" - it was so fun dancing with my husband and parents to this one; "I Will Survive" - our entire family was SO happy and hype during this one.
All in all, if you're thinking of booking Mainstreet Soul, DO IT! They're the best.

One neighbor told me he called his son in Washington State and held out the phone so he could hear them playing. My neighbors told me it was the best party the lake ever had, thanks to Mainstreet Soul. My 81 year old dad made a point of thanking the band personally, he was so impressed, and he is the most stoic man alive, lol. Guests and neighbors have asked me for the band's contact information. If you want the best wedding ever, hire Mainstreet Soul. On top of being the most fun you will ever have, the band is very professional. The band director, Jim, is wonderful to work with. He met with us before the wedding to go over a questionnaire that covers everything one could think of for a wedding. He provided a microphone for our presider we hadn't thought of. He even checked again during the event if we really still wanted to just be introduced with an unconventional "Joe and Deb" rather than the traditional "Mr. and Mrs." Five stars isn't enough to describe this band, they are 10 stars all the way.

1.) They are talented performers
2.) They were professional, nice and energetic!
3.) The band leader is very detailed oriented and organized. He was flexible with day of changes I made and was able to provide opinions since they have done so many weddings!
4.) The band leader is a wonderful MC! He was loud and respectful!
5.) My guests danced the WHOLE time.
6.) The band is super interactive and play throughout the crowd. It got people excited and more people to the dance floor.

Mainstreet Soul absolutely delivered. Our wedding had many changes and these guys were a constant throughout. We communicated with Jim multiple times leading up to the event, and he made us feel comfortable and confident. Two days before our wedding the venue changed the time the band could play to, and Jim immediately sprung into action redoing the plan so they could play as much as possible.
Weeks after the wedding we are still hearing how much everyone loved the band - including the venue! The dance floor was never empty and we could have not asked for more.

great to work with, I could tell he truly cared about his band and his music. The music at my wedding just MADE THE NIGHT! Everyone was dancing and loving the energy they brought to the room. To have gone through a Covid wedding planning experience, I was so happy to have hired Mainstreet Soul, they truly made my wedding a night we'll never forget!

Loved this band for our wedding! Not only are they musically talented, they're amazing at reading the crowd and getting people on the dance floor. We received so much positive feed...
back from our guests - all ages! (This was really important to us as we wanted to include everyone on the dance floor.) All of this being said- they are FUN and it's clear that they love what they do. Book them!
