Major Media

First, I’d like to say I hate writing bad reviews and wouldn’t have if I was able to work it out. Videography was a huge must for my wedding and what I was looking forward to most. I’m originally from out of state so having a long documentary video to bring back to my family when I visited this summer was huge plus. When I booked with major media it was because of how awesome the video they’d just post was of the prior wedding- that style was exactly what I was looking for. Pricing was a bit high but this was my one vendor splurge because it meant so much to me to have what I wanted- this is how you get to relive you day! We met, talked about what I wanted and felt like we were on the same page about everything. I had to reach out to make sure everything was in line in the weeks approaching the wedding which was fine I just wanted to make sure it was all going to go smoothly. The day off, they were very professional and kind and I didn’t think anything of it. After the wedding, I asked about a time frame (contract said 8-10 weeks) just to see how it was progressing and asked to have a day in the short video music (my contract was for a 5 minute short and a 45 min-1 hour documentary edit). I messaged at 8 weeks again and was told likely closer to 10 weeks due to scheduling- again that was ok. 10 weeks past and I messaged and was advised he was sorry and miscounted weeks and would get to it asap and would send me raw footage and a gift. Again- I was fine with that as long as I got the videos I wanted. He sent the videos just a couple days later and it was clear it was rushed and unedited. There was not color grading and after looking at the raw footage (and showing my photographer), it was clear it was only the raw footage put together and not really edited. The footage was shakey and quality was just not fair for the price paid. The raw footage had many good shots which could’ve replaced the not so great ones but it was very clear it was rushed. It had the groom walking down the aisle after the grandparents (which wasn’t the case the day of)- and more small things I would just assume would not have been in there for artistic reasons. I asked to meet or discuss it since I just didn’t feel I got what I paid for/expected based on his prior work or our conversations and was mostly dismissed. Of course, you can’t exactly get the day back for a do over but I’m left super disappointed and I won’t even show my friends/family the video because it just does not accurately depict the day. I’ve tried to ask for rights and some of my money back so I can maybe have someone else edit the footage but it had gone unanswered. Really heart broken over this whole thing and unfortunately it’s left me with my hands tied. Just hoping someone doesn’t make the same mistake as me.
