About this vendor
Major Vow is an officiant and wedding speech consultant based on Brooklyn. This skilled team helps couples craft a ceremony that tells their love story without clichés. Working in consultation with each client, Major Vow ensures that every speech, vow, and reading reflects the importance and joy of this special day. Their toolkit is designed to help anyone and everyone involved in the wedding: the couple saying "I do," the officiant, and family or friends with speaking roles.
Douglas Land founded Major Vow to help couples create meaningful ceremonies that are authentic to their love. Ceremonies and speeches should celebrate what makes your relationship so special, yet often they can feel bland and predictable. Since the 1990s, Douglas has worked with to-be-weds to craft one-of-a-kind speeches, poems, and vows tailored to each couple. Major Vow assists everybody with a speaking role in the ceremony to ensure an unforgettable experience.
The company provides speech and vow editing services and can also collaborate with clients to write vows from scratch. Whatever the style or size of your wedding, Major Vow will polish and shape every element of your ceremony script to create something uniquely yours.

I cannot recommend Douglas and Major Vow enough! We were looking for an officiant to provide a fun yet polished vibe to our ceremony for our Fall NYC wedding and Douglas exceeded a...
ll expectations! He took the time to get to know me and my husband and provide an amazing speech that encapsulated us as a couple and made our guests feel welcome. At our walkthrough the day before, Douglas made us feel comfortable that whether rain or shine, we would have an amazing ceremony. So many of our guests complimented us on Douglas and told us he did a wonderful job as well!
Where do I even start how wonderful Douglas is?? Douglas was recommended to us by a friend who went to a wedding that Douglas was officiating. When I told my friend I was looking f...
or someone to officiant our wedding that is kind, warm but serious she said I have the perfect person! From the minute we met Douglas virtually, we knew he would be the right fit. He took the time and effort to really get to know us. Most of the guests at our wedding thought we knew Douglas personally! All Douglas needed was an hour to hear our funny stories, the stories about our love and how we met to curate the most perfect speech to officiant us. Douglas is an expert on the whole process from start to finish and made us feel very comfortable throughout the happy but stressful time in our lives. Thank you again Douglas!!
Our experience with Major Vow & Douglas was nothing short of incredible! We planned a very last minute wedding and Douglas only had about 30 days to get to know us and pull togethe...
r our ceremony. Not only was he able to do this, but he really helped us in shaping our ceremony and figuring out all of the logistical details (which for us was incredibly helpful as we didn't have a wedding planner). After the ceremony, friends and family were even commenting that they assumed we knew Douglas for years based on the story he was able to tell of our relationship. We could not have been more happy with our experience!
Douglas helped us create our own custom ceremony and he made all our ideas come to reality! He helped us map out the layout and worked with us on brainstorming for our vows. We cou...

for our wedding and on the day of our wedding blew us away. His remarks during our ceremony were incredible our guests commented on how poignant and personal the ceremony was, which was entirely thanks to Douglas. We are so thankful we found Major Vow on The Knot and had the opportunity to work with Douglas.
I am so grateful for Douglas's work -- he is so professional, thoughtful, and brings out your own voice. I worked with him on my vows and it was the best decision!

ony that truly reflected our personalities and love for one another. Douglas was professional, personable, and made the entire process so seamless. We received so many compliments for our guests on how heartfelt and personalized the ceremony was. The whole experience was so beautiful and memorable, and we are so grateful to have had Douglas as our officiant. We would highly recommend Douglas to anyone looking for an officiant who will make their ceremony unforgettable. Thank you so so much for making our ceremony and wedding day so special!
Douglas was the perfect person to marry us. We decided to go ahead with a non-religious ceremony, and as it was an intimate 20 person event, our ceremony felt even more special wit...
h Douglas' attention to detail along with his skill at creating a one-of-a-kind "sermon". We feel so lucky to have had Douglas make our special day even more so, by getting us together so he could learn more about us and our relationship. Douglas asked us specific questions that ended up drawing the most touching picture of our lives together during the ceremony in a "Newlyweds" style call - which was fun and a great reminder of why we were deciding to tie the knot.
Douglas has a very unique skill at being able to pull together a wedding ceremony that will leave you just on the verge of tears (good ones!) and bursting with joy and excitement to be joining together with your partner. We highly recommend Douglas' services though Major Vow if you are looking for a curated and beyond-extraordinary experience on your wedding day.

ut the food, flowers, and party, but every single person has said they have never attended a wedding with a warmer, more special ceremony or a better officiant. It's easy to forget that the ceremony is actually the whole point, but Douglas puts the emotional content of the day front and center.
Over the course of several months, he helped us create a vision for our ceremony. He gave us advice on readings and participants, met with me and my husband together and then individually to talk over our vows, gave us exceptionally comprehensive and honest edits, and worked with our planner to make sure the ceremony was well-organized and went off without a hitch. Several family members and friends have asked us to send them a copy the ceremony script since it was so moving.
Douglas was a natural officiant, instantly putting us at ease, and had our guests laughing out loud and crying (also pretty loudly) within the first minute of his remarks. He took his role very seriously, was professional and delightful, and simply made our day even more special than we could have ever imagined. We couldn't recommend him more highly.
