Makeup by Dara

Dara was a total breeze to work with. She went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly on my wedding day and that most of all I looked freakin fantastic, even after waking up with TWO stress pimples on my chin which I was sure was going to ruin my day. But Dara worked her magic and they seriously disappeared before my eyes. She also did my makeup for my engagement shoot and I couldn’t have been any happier. I felt (and looked) like a princess all day long and it was all because of Dara. Thanks again Dara!! Couldn’t recommend her enough!!

The best ever. I had some concerns when it came to wedding make up in general. I don't wear much, if any, make up on a day to day basis. I did not want my husband to not recognize me on our wedding day. Dara honored that and understood exactly what I wanted. I had heard of her through friends and after looking at her Instagram (@makeup.by.dara) I was in love! So natural, yet radiant; and everyone in the bridal parties looked gorgeous! The trial is so fun, she has a relaxed and welcoming personality. I felt that she really listened to what I wanted, and I appreciated that. I left feeling gorgeous, confident, and with my make up artist booked! Book her ASAP. The day of, she was incredibly professional arriving on time and ready to go. She did 8 faces (including mine) and not one of us felt rushed-even with us rotating between hair and make up. All of my bridesmaids commented on how professional and kind she was to them. I could not have asked for a better getting ready for the wedding morning, and Dara had a huge part in that.

I had an amazing experience with Dara she is a sweetie. She made all of my bridesmaids and mother of bride and groom look absolutely gorgeous. I didn’t have to shop around for a makeup artist for my wedding because Dara happened to do my makeup for a wedding I was in previous to my date, and I knew I had to go with her!! She is super accommodating and fun to work with! I really don’t wear makeup on a day to day basis and to be honest, I find makeup overwhelming! Dara did such a good job with making me feel comfortable with makeup on. She knows how to bring out your glow on your big day! I highly recommend Dara!

Dara is fabulous! She did my bridal makeup for my June wedding as well as makeup for my bridesmaids, mom, and mother-in-law and everyone's makeup was absolutely perfect! She kept true to everyone's personalities while also keeping with my own vision for my wedding. She does book fast though. I contacted her in October for a June wedding and by the time of my trial session just a couple weeks later, she already had two or three other brides interested in the same date as my wedding. I cannot recommend Dara highly enough!

Dara was super easy to get in touch with before the wedding, and very open to my suggestions. I ended up doing two makeup trials because I couldn’t decide which look I wanted for the big day. And then I changed my mind the day of— she was cool with that, too! Dara showed up on time just like we planned, and the timeline that we discussed ahead of time went off without a hitch. I loved my makeup each time I did the trial, and it was perfect on the wedding day too! I cried of course, but didn’t worry because I knew the makeup wouldn’t budge. I was really happy with the way the makeup came out, and I would definitely recommend Dara to my friends and family.

Dara is seriously THE BEST!! She did a wonderful job making me feel beautiful on my big day. I even woke up with a huge pimple (just my luck!) and she was able to cover it- She is a miracle worker! I am so thankful for her! I HIGHLY recommend Dara!! AMAZING!!

Dara was incredible! The day of the wedding we had quite a few girls so she brought in a team to make sure we finished on schedule. Dara was the first of many people I saw on my wedding day and I'm glad because she really made the first few hours of my day feel very calm. I was so happy with how my wedding day makeup came out. She even took the time to make sure she covered some slight reddness on my chest so I looked flawless head to toe. She is very much the type of person to go above and beyond. I also want to mention that at the last minute she squeezed in my mother, mother in law and sister in law and they all looked amazing. My sister in law never ever wears make up so Dara just did lashes and filled in her brows which was enough but not so much to where my sister in law felt uncomfortable.

There are not enough stars here to represent Dara! I have been lucky enough to have my makeup done by her for my engagement photos, a boudoir photo shoot & my wedding. Each & every time she went above & beyond! Dara made me feel completely comfortable & is a joy to talk with! I don't typically wear a lot of makeup day to day. Dara perfectly accommodated & I felt beautiful each time. The airbrush makeup is also incredible. My skin is typically acne prone & the makeup did not irritate my skin at all. The makeup will easily last all day without any touch ups needed. My wedding day did not at all go as planned & Dara was one of the only vendors that did not disappoint! She arrived promptly & was a breath of fresh air during such a stressful time. I highly recommend Dara if you're looking to get your makeup done for any occasion! You won't regret it!

I was lucky enough to have Dara do my makeup for my senior pictures, and recently my wedding almost 6 years later! I almost never wear makeup, and Dara completely understood my desire to look and feel like myself on my wedding day. I didn't even feel the makeup or eyelashes on, but loved that I looked flawless looking in the mirror. She is so sweet and fun to talk to, and has an amazing eye for her art!

I forget how I came across Dara's services but boy am I glad I did. From the very first trial appointment I knew she was the one and I booked right then and there! no way was I going to miss out on her services. She did engagement picture makeup, and she was so accommodating cause those pictures were such a hard thing to make happen. We had to reschedule 3 times, and she was always so helpful and understanding. needless to my makeup was flawless that day. She also did my makeup for my wedding as well as my bridal party and again, needless to say, flawless once again. Dara is not only a talented makeup artist but a joy to be around! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dara. She not only made me feel absolutely beautiful on my wedding day but she was nothing but professional and encouraging through the entire process! On the day of the wedding, she was organized and was able to make my whole bridal party look and feel great(Seriously, all they kept doing was looking at themselves in the mirror). What was most important to me, was that she made my mom feel comfortable in her own skin for the first time in a long time. My mom has never gotten her makeup professionally done and she is usually very self conscious about her skin but she was so radiant and self assured that day and it was all because of Dara! Don't let her slip through your fingers! She is the girl you want making you look beautiful on your wedding day!

Dara was absolutely amazing! She listened to what I wanted and was able to work well with what I wanted, a romatic look where I still looked like myself. I felt flawless! She did myself, my mother, my MOH, and a few other bridesmaids. One of the bridesmaids is very sensitive to people doing her makeup and let Dara do everything. She loved her gentle touch and patience. This was also one of my favorite things about her. She is incredibly gentle, patient and sweet. I never felt like o rushed her, or slowed her down. It really was enjoyable. My mom is allergic to makeup and doesn't wear it often, she not only had her makeup done for the wedding, but went back to Dara a few months later for my cousins wedding. My mom is very picky and has sensitive skin; Dara worked with her beautifully and all of her products are quality products and not at all cakey. Dara truly was fantastic and I would highly recommend her to any other bride!

Dara is amazing. She did everyone in my wedding party and everyone looked flawless all night even though we were all sweating. The airbrush held up all night long couldn't have asked for more. Can't wait for her to do my makeup again when I'm a bridesmaid next month and again in a few more months!

I was searching for a makeup artist for my wedding. I wanted someone who would be able to apply airbrush makeup, as my wedding was in July. Once I found Dara, I immediately contacted her and she was able to schedule a trial within a couple of weeks, even though I was only available on weekends. She is VERY professional and she has a wonderful personality! I was very pleased with the trial and booked her for my wedding. I also asked to add three other ladies a few weeks prior to the wedding and she had no problem with that. My makeup was flawless and stayed in place the entire time! I'm absolutely content with choosing her for makeup!

Dara was amazing! She was great to work with and everyone looked absolutely beautiful!! She even went out of her way to meet with my mother-in-law who has skin problems to make sure the makeup would work for her. I've had airbrushed makeup applied for other weddings, and I was really impressed with Dara's overall abilities. She was so light handed and the makeup came out beautifully flawless, which also lasted through my sweating (between the nerves and the stage lights). She was able to accommodate me and my entire wedding party, giving us each our own special look, and was able to travel from one site to our venue without qualm. A lovely woman, her prices are more than reasonable, and if you need air brushed makeup for any reason, I highly reccommend Dara.

Dara is absolutely amazing at what she does. I was so lucky to have found her to do my wedding make-up and she did a phenomenal job truly making me feel like a bride and more beautiful than I had ever felt in my life! I contacted her because I not only liked the references and photos of the gorgeous make-up she had created in the past but also because of the way she cared about her online presence and the photos she shared. Someone that puts effort into creating a professional website and Instagram feed must also be professional and caring about their work. When I first met her for my trial at her beautiful little in-home studio I liked her right away, especially for her calm confidence that I knew would be nice to be around when I'd be nervous on my wedding day. We discussed the look I was going for, she did her magic and after seeing myself in the mirror, I booked her for the wedding. On the day of the wedding she was at the venue (Clovis Castle) on time and gave my bridesmaids the natural look we had discussed. She even took the extra time for one of the girls we didn't originally book make-up for, that had gotten sick and wanted make-up after all. All of the girls were happy with their look and it lasted all day, even without the airbrush option. When she was done with my make-up and I saw myself in the mirror, I couldn't believe how beautiful I looked. I was still myself but she had managed to accentuate my face in all the right ways and made me feel truly amazing. I had decided to go with the airbrush option myself and was surprised how smooth and light it felt. I looked spotless but natural in all the photos. Dara was super friendly and to everyone and it honestly was a remarkable experience to work with her. If I ever need professional make-up done again, she will be my go to person and I definitely recommend contacting her for your wedding or next event as well!

The trial was absolutely beautiful and I instantly booked Makeup by Dara for my wedding. I was thrilled to know I had Dara to look forward to on my special day. The day of my wedding was off to a delayed and quite stressful start, but Dara worked her magic and maneuvered around our evolving schedule to complete my three bridesmaids, my mother, and of course my own makeup to perfection. You need to book Dara. Period. When I was looking for a makeup artist for my wedding day, it was starting to seem impossible! I was getting married in Malibu so I looked at artists who were local to that area. All proved to be WAY too expensive or their performance was incredibly disappointing. I started contemplating doing my own makeup. I didn't want to, but I felt that was the only way to get the exact look what I wanted. A dear friend of mine introduced me to Dara and it immediately changed my mind. Dara is from my hometown but she travels so I was ALL for giving her a try. As soon as I left my trial, I was BEAMING with happiness. It was like a true weight was lifted from my shoulders. I called my (now) husband and was almost in tears with how happy I was. I wore the trial makeup from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., even through a workout and it did not budge. Seriously, that stuff is awesome. I highly recommend Dara. If you're needing a makeup artist, contact her ASAP and I promise you will NOT be disappointed. She's kind, helpful, and incredibly talented. A couple days before my wedding I had a really bad allergy reaction to some eyelash extensions that I'd had on for months. I immediately contacted Dara who was coming into Malibu the following day and she walked me through what I needed to do and checked on me frequently. When she showed up to do my makeup she reassured me that my eyes weren't bad and that with the makeup no one would even know -- and that's the truth! No one knows of that unless I've told them. She not only was a makeup artist for me but a shoulder to lean on at times. I can't say enough good things about her talent and her as a person. You need to book Dara. For any and all occasions. :)

Ive never had my makeup airbrushed on before and I was surprised it still looked perfect even after 12 hours. My wedding was in August and I had Dara and another gal to do everyone's airbrush make up! They were the dream team! The airbrush make up turned out stunning on everyone! Also, it was so hot on the day of the wedding (like 100 desgrees) and all of the wedding took place outside. All night I kept getting asked if I was even sweating at all because my make up looked just as fresh as it did when they first saw me walk down the aisle. I fully recommend Dara! Dara was just pure amazing. She is truly an amazing artist at what she does and such a sweet woman to work with. I got my wedding day trial done for my engagement shoot and was just in love with my look. For my wedding day she did mine, my bridesmaids, and mothers make up and we all looked just stunning. I had the privilege of meeting Dara when I asked her to do my make up for my wedding. She is so sweet, genuinely cares for her clients, and listens to their needs. I loved her right when I met her. She did a trial run on me for my wedding, and I was completely in awe of how I looked. She made me look even more beautiful than I could have imagined. I first had my makeup done by Dara a few years ago at my brothers wedding. The following year my other brother got married and my sister in law booked Dara and I was able to get my makeup done by her again. Both times she nailed the look I was going for perfectly. When my wedding came around I knew immediately that I had to have Dara for my makeup! She made all my girls look beautiful and I am so anxious to see the professional photos of how great my makeup looked. I recently had Dara do my makeup for my engagement photos. I was coming in from out of town so I was having a hard time finding a makeup artist in Fresno that I liked. I contacted Dara and she had great customer service. The day of my engagement photos, she did my makeup. It was AMAZING! It lasted for hours! I am very particular about the way I like my makeup done but Dara did such a perfect job. I loved the way it looked and I got a lot of compliments. I wouldn't trust anyone else as much as I trusted Dara with my bridal makeup. She was early to set up, and even adjusted with ease to a last minute add-on of two additional people (we just started earlier). Every one of my bridesmaids, mother and mother in law absolutely adored her and were so impressed with her work and how long the airbrush makeup lasted. One of my bridesmaids is a professional makeup artist and licensed estheticians herself, and was obsessed with the look that Dara achieved for her, which can sometimes be difficult when they do it themselves. Dara is so knowledgable and makes sure that each bridesmaid's unique features are highlighted to enhance their individual beauty while keeping everything looking uniform. Her personality and care for her clients is what makes the experience even more enjoyable and I felt so calm while I was getting ready and have never felt more beautiful than I did on my wedding day. I would highly recommend Dara for ANY event and cannot wait to recommend my friends to her for their future weddings, and special occasion makeup.

I absolutely loved my makeup and felt beautiful on my wedding day! My bridesmaids loved theirs too and we all looked great. Dara is very professional and uses the best products. She made sure we gave input on the look during the whole process so we were happy with the outcome. Dara is truly talented! She took care of my bridesmaids and I on my special day and everyone looked so stunning! She is a lovely person.

Dara is incredible! My daughter went to her for her prom makeup last May. She was so wonderful with her. She kept it very casual and made in a non-stresser moment. Up until that point my daughter had not worn make up much so was very nervous about how it might come out. All we had to do is give Dara a little insight to what type of look she wanted (natural girl), and she did wonders. The airbrushing gave such a beautiful look. Being that she is a swimmer and had major swim lines on her back (and was wearing a strapless) Dara also did her back. It came out fantastic as well. Flash forward to this past week. We just had my daughter's senior pictures done. Of course we went back to Dara to do her makeup. Even though she hadn't see us since May, she knew exactly what to do and it came out beautifully again. It was a crazy day for us and my daughter had a water polo game after her senior pictures and there was no time to wash off the makeup. So glad she didn't though, because it stayed perfectly...yes you heard me. She looked like the most glamourous polo player out there! She even went to a football game that night with makeup still in place. What can I say? Dara is amazing, not just as a makeup artist but as a person. The moments she has been able to give my daughter with her talents has been such a blessing to her. We will never go to anyone else but Dara and be sure to recommend her to everyone we know!! I cannot say enough amazing things about Dara. She is incredibly talented, friendly, and professional. Not to mention, she was easy to communicate with, very responsive, and got us all made up ahead of schedule! She made each of us look EXACTLY as we had asked. We got married in CA when it was roughly 99 degrees the majority of the evening, and our make up stayed flawless (and we started at 8am with ceremony at 5pm!). I will certainly recommend Dara to every one of my friends!

Dara did the makeup for a few friends' weddings so I knew she did a great job. But what stood out to me was how accommodating she was to make sure we were on the same page and everything was set for the day of the wedding. During the trial run she is very thorough to be sure you are completely happy with your makeup the day of the wedding.

Although, she did not provide services for a bride, she did make our teenage daughter look flawless for her Winter Formal. Our daughter has pretty bad acne breakouts on her face and back and Dara covered it all up with her Hair Brush Makeup. She was as sweet as could be, quick to respond when contacted, and completed in a timely manner. She also made us feel welcomed, appreciated, and made a connection with us. This gal is passionate about her craft, & you can tell she enjoys her work. She was wonderful to communicate with - very flexible, as well as a sweet demeanor. Her pricing is reasonable (about the standard from what I could find), but for the quality of service, she's top-notch. Even though she didn't do my makeup, I watched her with the bride & was thoroughly impressed. I'd hire her for my wedding makeup, no question!

Update 2018: I knew I had to have Dara for my wedding this year. She just knows how to do makeup that photographs flawlessly, which is so important for a wedding. My wedding makeup was perfect the day of and looked amazing in the photos! I didn't have her do my makeup as a bride, she did it for some pictures I was taking. After the photo shoot I went to a party several people told me my skin glowed. Not to mention the lipstick she chose was so amazing I splurged and bought it later at a store. I plan on using her again in the near future for a special event if possible, and she is top of my list when my fiancé and I get married. Edit: I’ve since gotten married and used Dara for my makeup. She did wonderful again and the makeup photographed so well! I’d highly recommend her for any event, especially weddings.

Dara did an excellent job not only on my makeup, but made my entire bridal party, mother and mother-in-law look amazing! She was so professional yet made you feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend her to all future brides, she makes you look and feel beautiful on such an important day!

My friend was a bride who got her makeup done by Dara and she graciously offered her services to us, the bridesmaids. Dara is FABULOUS! She is everything wrapped into one. After a bad experience with another makeup artist for my engagement photos, I booked Dara for a trial to do my makeup for my wedding. I LOVED her! She used quality products and had the most gentle touch. I have very sensitive eyes and the makeup artist who did my engagement photo makeup became very frustrated with me when trying to apply eyeliner and false lashes. Dara was the complete opposite. She gave me "blink breaks" when applying the eyeliner and I barely felt her apply false lashes. I felt so comfortable with her and she was very understanding about my sensitive eyes. I asked for a natural look and that's just what she gave me. I still looked like me, with more enhanced features. I could not stop looking in the mirror the day of my trial session! My mom was planning to do her own makeup for my wedding but after I stopped by her house to show her Dara's work, she immediately changed her mind and had Dara do her makeup as well. All of 5 of my bridesmaids had their makeup done for the wedding, some had airbrushed makeup and some regular, they all looked so beautiful! My favorite part was that my makeup stayed on the entire day and night. Through crying and sweating during pictures, my lashes stayed on and my makeup did not run or streak. I would highly recommend the airbrushing to all brides, just as Dara recommended it to me. Dara was the first person to arrive at the venue; she was already set to go before I even arrived. She is a true professional and the Central Valley is lucky to have someone as talented as Dara. I will never be able to thank her enough for making my wedding day even more special!

Prompt, courteous, professional,and a great artist in her field. I would recommend Dara ("Make Up by Dara") to anyone looking for perfection. The morning after our daughters event we had an early morning brunch (after going to bed very late and not removing the make-up)...I woke up in the nick of time for the brunch allowing just enough time to dress & brush teeth. The make-up looked pretty good the "morning after" allowing me to make the brunch on time! Money well spent. Can't wait to see all the photos. Dara is amazing. She did the makeup for myself, the entire bridal party and our parents. Dara makes you feel very comfortable even though as a bride I was so stressed on the big day. She did an amazing job on everyone. I chose to do airbrush makeup and it looked flawless! It felt like I didnt have any makeup on at all but it covered every blemish that I had. I checked my makeup towards the end of the night just to see if I needed to touch up and my makeup looked exactly the same from 5-6 hours before hand and not to mention all the dancing I did that night. I am so happy I found Dara and if I ever have an event again I will be giving her a call. Thank you Dara! You made me feel gorgeous!

After having Dara do my makeup for a wedding I was in, I couldn't wait to book her for my wedding in April next year. She was extremely professional, on time and was a perfectionist in what she did. All the girls in the wedding party turned out beautiful. More then we could of asked for. My favorite part was the stunning eyelashes that just made our eyes pop! Dara did a great job on my make up for my wedding (8/3/13) as well as my bridal party. I questioned her extensively prior to selecting her, about her experience with ethnic skin and even had two separate make up trails with her. What I liked best about her make up application is that it looked natural, it wore well, and she matched my make-up to my skin color very well. I would definitely use Dara again for future formal events in which I have to look fabulous, because she does such a great job. In addition, she is a professional and very easy to work with. Dara is amazing. She drove to San Francisco to do my makeup for my engagement photo shoot. She was on time, had great suggestions and did great work. :) The airbrush makeup was amazing. I don't usually wear foundation so I was worried about how heavy the makeup would feel, but it was light and lasted all day. I didn't need to do any touch ups throughout the day and the picture turned out amazing. I am looking forward to her doing my airbrush makeup again on my upcoming wedding day. I highly recommend Dara for your bridal makeup needs.

I had never really had my make-up done before and she did it for my Boudoir shoot. I booked her that day for my wedding! She makes you look stunning. But it isn't the kind of make up where you can feel it all day, it is almost like you aren't wearing any make up, natural beauty type. I got so many compliments! My husband was very surprised ( I normally don't wear make up) I felt absolutely beautiful. My Matron of Honor also looked stunning! She did both our hair and make up! She is a great person, very fun and professional. She is also willing to work around a crazy wedding schedule! If I ever need my make up done again I know who I am going to call!

As I shopped around for bridal makeup, I was worried that I would end up in 5 lbs of goo that would make me miserable while getting onto everything else. Dara erased these fears by providing a gentile touch that comfortably lasted 12 hours without fail. I found Dara to be a true professional. She delivered on what she advertised. Her supplies, tools and products were clean, organized and good quality. She also took note of my concerns, arrived on time and came prepared. The air brushing Dara does covered my every flaw while matching skin coloring and blended well. It was comfortable, light weight and did not rub off onto my dress or my groom. The eye makeup covered up the darkness around my eyes, while providing the natural look I wanted. The false eyelashes were AMAZING. They really made my eyes pop. The lip color was perfect and balanced out my eyes. Dara's color choices, techniques and application all brought out the best in my face while enhancing what was needed. Her touch was gentile, but got the job done. I don't normally let anyone near my eyes, but Dara's kindness and soft touch made me feel comfortable. The makeup was light weight yet, I did not have to retouch and lasted until I washed it off. The eyelashes were surprisingly comfortable and came off in time without taking my natural lashes with them. Not only did I look wonderful in person, but the makeup was perfect in photographs. My photographer does not have to take out any blemishes on my face or fix my coloring. In the wedding photos, I have a natural look that looks like the best version of myself. I would not change a thing about the makeup Dara provided. I do not have a single complaint. I will definitely have my makeup done by her the next time I have a special event or professional photos taken. I would highly recommend Dara to anyone needing makeup.

Dara was a pleasure to work with in doing my makeup for my wedding. She showed early did the makeup for my matron of honor while I was getting my hair done. When it was my turn she helped to cover up the light sunburn and corresponding tan lines so they blended in with my normal skin color. Excellent service and reasonably priced.

Searching for a make-up artist for my wedding was a tough decision since I don't wear make-up on a daily basis. Dara's use of airbrush makeup was fabulous! My wedding was outside in June and not only did my makeup last all day and night- it felt like I wasn't even wearing any! Shopping around for a makeup artist can be tricky... you DON't want to look like a clown on your wedding day. My friend had mentioned Dara and things went SO SMOOTH for my wedding day. She has a bridal package, which I picked and it includes a trial run (which I used on the day of my bachelorette party) and she came to me. Also, she came to my venue day of the wedding and did bridesmaids makeup and mine, which she spent the most time on. She listened to all my concerns and worked with me :) I would not have picked another makeup artist for my wedding day if I went back and did it all again. She was well worth the money!!

When attending a local bridal show promotion for a news station morning program, I won the full bridal package by Makeup by Dara. I knew what the prizes were beforehand and had really hoped that I would win this package during the contest because I had seen and admired her work from attending the bridal show that was being promoted when I attended with my friends who were brides at the time. The price of this package was admittedly out of my budget at the time but after seeing what was included, totally worth it and I would've made room in my budget to hire Dara all over again! I loved the flexibility she used when scheduling with me and her ability to come to me not only on the day of my wedding, but at the trial about a month beforehand. It worked out perfectly that I used my trial run the day of my bridal shower, so I looked flawless that day, as well. I explained my theme to Dara (1930s vintage Bonnie & Clyde) and after some talking, we discovered that we had a totally different outlook. After going into detail on my thoughts, she more than delivered! The airbrush technique was amazing and felt great on my skin - I am someone who does not ever use cover up, foundation, etc because I can't stand how it feels and I loved the airbrushing. The false eyelashes made my eyes look amazing along with the brown and ivory eye shadows she used to open up my eyes (something I generally have an issue with, in my opinion). Overall, I loved the entire experience. Dara is very easy to relate to and holds great conversation that makes you feel like you met long ago. Thank you, Dara, for a great experience! I won't hesitate to recommend you to friends and may even hire you again for weddings that I'll be attending in the near future! Chelsea

I absolutely loved the airbrushed foundation. It was lightweight and yet still achieved a flawless, dewy, look! I highly recommend it!!! Dara was very professional, on time and made my wonderful day, that much better!
