Makeup by Ravishing: Onsite Makeup Artistry

I was wanting to find a makeup artist that could work with me, my bridesmaids, and female family members the day of the wedding, preferably on location instead of having to go to a salon. I found Makeup by Ravishing through an internet search. I was able to book both hair and makeup services, though Amanda was in charge of makeup only and contracts with area hair stylists. I did a makeup trial but unfortunately Amanda could not be there, so one of her assistants, Cierra, did the makeup and did a great job. The day of the wedding, Cierra was on time and made good time with the 5 of us that had makeup done. One complaint with the makeup was that the false eyelashes had issues staying on after she left, but otherwise I was pleased with the look. Another issue I want to be made aware is that Amanda was not always timely in responding to emails or clear on communication. For instance, I was under the impression that Amanda would be doing my makeup, even though she did not do the trial, but was told later that she was unable to come that day and Cierra would do it. I do not mind overall, as Cierra did my makeup trial, but there was miscommunication there. My understanding with waiting to get a response from Amanda was she was busy at the time for personal reasons, but I want brides to be aware that if booking with Amanda – while I was pleased overall again with booking – you may need to either be patient or send a reminder if Amanda does not respond to your emails right away. As I said, other than that I was pleased and happy to have booked with Makeup by Ravishing for the wedding. The prices were reasonable, and the convenience of them coming to the ceremony site was so helpful and lessened the stress of the day!

I was told that Ravishing was the company to go with for the perfect bridal look—they were right. Cierra, Amanda’s assistant, was the one who took care of my makeup trial and day-of makeup and she was PHENOMENAL. So friendly, so professional, ON TIME, and TALENTED. Cierra took my day seriously and was so humble and approachable with anything I needed. I looked absolutely stunning on my special day and she helped with that by doing a BEAUTIFUL job on my makeup! I booked this vendor in April for my October wedding. Communication was quick and easy initially. However, when I tried to nail down a date and time for the make up trial communication all but ceased. She would never confirm a date, saying she need to confirm some things first then get back to me, often times never getting back to me unless I sent a follow up message. Finally 1 month before the wedding she admitted her make up artist had a scheduling conflict. She asked that I give her a few days to figure it out but that she was confident she would. A few days passed and I didn't hear from her so I messaged again and she finally admitted she had no solutions and she would refund my deposit money (which she did immediately). Was just very unfortunate how poor her communication was!

Amanda is truly professional. She has massive knowledge about the products that work best on different individuals. She completed my wedding trial a couple of months ago and recently did makeup for myself and 8 bridesmaids. Everyone looked wonderful! Natural looking makeup that stayed on well throughout the night and humidity! I would definitely recommend Amanda to anyone needing makeup done for their event.

I was a little worried since I did not do a make up trial with Amanda prior to my wedding but I ended up loving my make up on my wedding day. It was just what I was looking for and also stayed on the whole night through the after party! Amanda was so efficient and professional and I received a lot of compliments. I would definitely recommend!

I schedule very last minute and was so lucky that Amanda was available. She was incredibly flexible, knowledgeable, and professional. Very organized and helped me feel at ease. I have never felt more beautiful in my life. I did a trial beforehand which was really beneficial so we could discuss my makeup likes and how I would like to look on my wedding day. She and an associate did me, my mom, and six bridesmaids. They were prompt, and did a fabulous detailed job on everyone. I can’t express enough how wonderful she is!

I will start out by saying Amanda does amazing work! Everyone loved their makeup and how they looked, including myself. My day of makeup was very different than my trial so I was a bit thrown off when I looked in the mirror. Amanda requested we each bring our own mascara and lipstick. However, I did not expect to have to apply our own mascara. About two weeks before the big day, Amanda asked if we could get started an hour earlier the morning of. She explained she was concerned about timing. However, the morning of she ended up being a half hour late and then we still finished two hours before we needed to be ready for the photographer so some touch ups were needed after sitting around that we had to do ourselves. Throughout the day it became evident that the real concern was getting out of there on time to meet another client. I understand having multiple bookings in a day, but would have preferred for that to be mentioned up front. Amanda can also be a little on the abrupt side. Being pulled in different directions the morning of I was not always able to be in the room, but I did hear there were several comments made that were a little rude. Some of the things discussed were not necessarily professional and could have just been handled differently.

Amanda did my makeup for a bridal session. She was great with keeping my makeup natural to my coloring (redhead/super fair skin) but still made it glamorous for the shoot. Highly recommend to any brides or anyone looking for makeup for special events! 5 stars

Amanda does awesome makeup. Before her, I had never been pleased with professional makeup application. She did my makeup for my wedding day and it stayed put all day in the heat and humidity and lasted all night long. Very pleased with her work!

Amanda did an amazing job on make-up for me, my bridesmaids, and our moms. It was a perfect combination of a 'pop' and a 'natural' look. I didn't feel like I had makeup caked on- it felt fresh and looked beautiful! She showed up early and with an assistant ready to get to work! Amanda provided styling services to one of my brides and her bridal party this past summer in Blacksburg, VA and she was amazing! Everyone looked stunning. There were numerous different cultures and Amanda was able to curate each different look perfectly!

Amanda did such an amazing job with the makeup for my wedding!! From the start, she responded quickly and set up a makeup trial for me, which I would definitely recommend. I don't normally wear a ton of makeup, so she was able to give me a more natural look, but still make me look amazing. For my wedding day, I had myself, 8 bridesmaids, and 2 mothers all getting their makeup done. Amanda and her assistant arrived at my bridal suite bright and early and finished everyone's makeup way faster than I expected! Her pricing included false eyelashes for everyone, which I think made such a difference--even for some of my friends who never wore them before. The color palate she chose for all of us matched our dresses perfectly and didn't look over the top. Everyone looked like a better version of themselves! The makeup didn't feel overdone or heavy, but most importantly it stayed on the entire day/night, through hours of picture taking and crying happy tears! I couldn't recommend Amanda highly enough!

Amanda was great to work with! I am not someone who knows a lot about makeup and so I needed someone who could just make me look my best and understand what I wanted without too much elaboration, because honestly I didn't even know how to explain what I wanted. I just knew I didn't want to look over done or too much makeup. Needless to say Amanda did a perfect job! I met with her once before hand to do a practice session and then she came to me on my wedding day. She did my makeup and my bridesmaid makeup, both were absolutely beautiful! I got married in August in Charlottesville, VA and Amanda was AWESOME! We had a fairly large wedding party: myself, 7 bridesmaids, 2 moms and 4 flower girls. Everyone looked beautiful!!! Our ceremony was at 2:30pm at the UVA Chapel and our reception was at King Family Vineyards. It was super hot and humid out and I cried about 50 times but my makeup still looked amazing by the end of the night! Amanda and her assistant were very professional and worked in a timely manner - they finished up everyone a little earlier than expected which was perfect! I was so happy with myself and everyone's makeup! TOTALLY recommend Makeup by Ravishing! :) Thank you Amanda SO much!!!

Planning a wedding out of state is always a challenge and I was very nervous about picking a makeup artist without getting a chance to do a trial or meet them in person first. After a lot of research on the internet I found Makeup by Ravishing. After seeing Amanda's portfolio I was very interested so I contacted her. She responded very quickly and answered all my questions. I went ahead and booked her and had a trial the next time I was in town. Amanda is truly awesome about listening to what her clients want. It took me 3 trials playing around with different color palettes to figure out what I wanted, but on the 3rd time we nailed it! I truly appreciated her patience with me knowing how important it was to get the exact look I was looking for on my wedding day. She is super personable and helped keep me relaxed on the big day. I couldn't have asked for more perfect makeup on me and my bridesmaids for the wedding day. We all looked so fabulous! I would highly recommend Amanda to everyone looking for a makeup artist for their wedding. She is truly gifted and your pictures will come out flawless. You won't regret it!

Amanda was amazing. She came to me in a time of need when I was having issues with booking another salon for makeup. She was more than understanding to my predicament and willing to step in! Being a woman who herself ADORES make up, I was leery of anyone who was going to do my make up for my wedding day. I wear heavy make up and my fear was that my make up artist would make me look like what they felt was "best". After my trial with Amanda, I was in LOVE with my make up. She listened to what I wanted and made me feel like I truly was at my best. My wedding day was the same, truly I felt so beautiful! She was prompt, kept the bridal party moving and was efficient. They travelled onsite to our venue which was so convenient! We were on a time crunch and had 10 girls( including myself) to get done! Everyone was done so quickly and looked beautiful, they did a great job.

Amanda is absolutely fabulous. She is so easy to work with and very reasonable. She did my bridal makeup as well as one bridesmaid and MOH. She made me feel like a princess. She listens to what your vision for your makeup is and brings it to life! I even hired her to do my friends bridal makeup as a present for her wedding (and mine as well when I'm a bridesmaid in her wedding). Very highly recommend!

Ravishing did a AMAZING job on everyone's makeup on our big day! I can't say enough good things about her! If you are looking for a makeup artist for your special day she is AWESOME and affordable.I looked all over for the perfect makeup artist who wouldn't cake on my makeup, leave me with a orange line, and make me look fake. I FOUND HER! Not only did I look and feel beautiful but most importantly I still looked like myself. My mother loved her makeup as did all of the bridesmaids. She even gave me a cute little gift and a card when she was finished. If you are thinking about hiring her to do your makeup don't think any longer. Do it! She's THE BEST!

Ravishing did such a wonderful job on my wedding parties makeup. People approached me left and right to ask who did my makeup, and commented that it was some of the most stunning work they had ever seen on a bride. Ravishing truly helped make our day so special. They were on time, and worked diligently and cooperatively with my hair person. They were there to make all of us look flawless, and that is exactly what they did. Amanda works so hard to make sure the perfect look has been achieved. My day would not have been as great if it weren't for Ravishing. My hairdresser recommended Ravishing. I contacted Amanda (the make-up artist) via telephone. She immediately returned my call. We discussed that I would like wedding makeup along with the Bridesmaids, Mothers, and Grandmothers. While Ravishing is based in Roanoke, Virginia; my wedding was in Orange, Virginia. Amanda quoted a reasonable fee that included travel expense. In the days leading up to the wedding weekend, we communicated via email. She was always easy to reach. Wedding Day: The Bridesmaids and myself were at the bed and breakfast; the mothers and grandmothers were at a hotel. Amanda had no issue with going to two places. Additionally, she made sure to allow herself enough time on my makeup. When it came to my makeup, she came prepared (tons of makeup and a chair). Generally, I am minimal in primping; but, this day I wanted to be glam. When I turned around and saw myself in the mirror; I cried. I hate looking in the mirror on most days; Amanda made me beautiful and glam. I didn't have matching lipstick and she gave me one of hers. She is top notch and I would recommend her to anyone...I would also use her again. My Bridesmaids, the mothers, and grandmothers also would recommend her. They also looked beautiful.

Without a doubt Amanda clearly knows her clients and their individuals needs. She was able to perfectly makeup my 12 year old daughter for a photo shoot without making her look "fake". Amanda came to my wedding location and did makeup for myself and my daughter, who was my maid of honor. We were thrilled with the work she did for us. Sure, we could have done our own makeup, but I'm so glad we got Amanda to do it because both my daughter and myself could have never achieved the same results we got with Amanda doing it.
