She came to my home last minute and showed up completely prepared - lashes, the right shades for my skin tone, everything. What impressed me most was how knowledgeable she was about makeup for skin over 35. My photos came out perfect. My skin looked luminous, not dry or cakey, and the lashes lasted three full days.
But honestly, what set her apart was how she listened. She looked through my reference photos, was refreshingly honest about what was and wasn’t achievable, and then delivered exactly what I needed — maybe even more. There was no guessing, no pushing her own vision. Just genuine collaboration and a result I was truly proud of.

for photos! Not only that, but she did an incredible job and all 5 of us were so happy with the looks she gave us. From the beginning, I loved the way she highlighted someone's natural beauty with make-up. I loved the look she did for me because it was very natural, yet made me feel bridal and beautiful and put together! She prepped the skin beforehand and everything was very soothing and clean feeling! (I have very sensitive skin and was concerned about this, but it was no problem for her at all, and my skin felt so fresh and like it was glowing!). All of her make-up also felt very light and effortless - I could barely tell I was wearing make-up and the lashes also did not bother me. Also, I cried a majority of the day, and despite that fact the make-up lasted all throughout the day and night!! She was very kind all throughout the day, and made casual conversation with all of us - we all felt comfortable with her! I highly recommend Theresa for all your make-up needs on your wedding day, prom, or other event! She is wonderful! Thank you, Theresa, for everything!

I’m a bit late in posting this since I just received my official photos. I was planning my wedding in NC in February 2026 while being out of town and didn’t know anyone for makeup....
I came across Theresa Makeupbon the Knot website. I loved her natural look. I had my fears because of my dark skin tone, not everyone can handle this, but I got exactly what I wanted for my wedding day—I don’t usually wear makeup and didn’t want my appearance to feel different.
Theresa was incredibly punctual, detail-oriented, and thoughtful. She even shared skincare tips with me months before the wedding, which I really appreciated.
When I leave a review, I make sure it’s honest, so, I can confidently say Theresa truly gives her best to her clients. She made sure everyone was happy and took amazing care of my bridesmaids, they looked like princesses.
The overall look was natural yet glamorous, and the makeup lasted all day despite heavy rain, dancing, and different lighting throughout the church. And the photos! Absolutely beautiful.
I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

also mention that I was an "older" bride so not being overdone to enhance fine lines was a concern. She was able to make all of us look beautiful without showcasing any fine lines. We looked great in person and in photos (often you look great in the photos but not in person - overdone in person). I did a trial run with her and included my mom (I'm older so my mom was older than the typical bride's mother and aging skin was a concern), and that helped us both get to know each other and what the desired looks were. She was able to tweak a few requests I had prior to the wedding day, and I couldn't have been happier! She also knocked it out of the park with my girls who didn’t have a trial run and they talked about what they wanted the day of and all were happy with their results and looked stunning. We all looked like ourselves but very elegant. She really does do a great job. She listened to my tweak requests and talked through concerns she had as well to ensure I was getting the look I wanted. Highly recommend!

Theresa did a good job on my wedding makeup, but was not very professional. When we booked, her contract stated that we pay a retainer, and the final amount was due the day of the ...
event. A couple weeks before our wedding, she emailed our planners asking us to pay the final amount in advance without much reason. Knowing that the contract stated we did not owe until the day of, and having other obligations, I did not get to it right away. The night of our rehearsal dinner, and the day before our wedding, my planners told me that she was threatening to not show up unless we paid that day. I had to step away from our celebration with friends and family to appease someone unwilling to stick to her legal commitments. Asking for an advance is one thing, but no amount of talent was worth such rudeness.

The contract I have had in place for a few years had my clients paying a week before their wedding because of the amount of stress that it was putting on my brides to send e-payments or write checks on their big day. Remember I’ve been doing makeup for 10 years, and I’ve been able to work through all the kinks of owning a small makeup business. My goal is to make this as seamless as possible. Over the years my clients have found it a lot less stressful when they paid before I got there.
I believe I sent you an old contract on accident that stated to pay the day of which was a mistake on my part and I apologize for sending an old contract. In that case I would’ve happily accepted payment day of but I did request payment beforehand purely for your benefit! I was attempting to make your day as stress free as possible and it seems I made it more stressful and I completely apologize. I would've shown up to your wedding regardless if you paid the day before or not. Like I said I’ve been doing this for 10 years and my hope was to show up, make you look beautiful and leave with out having to deal with payment on the biggest day of your life! It’s unfortunate that we had to communicate via a wedding planner, if I communicated directly with you I don’t think you would’ve had the same impression.

If I were to ever have an event or get married, or if I moved down south to her location, I wouldn't hesitate to hire her myself. You won't be disappointed at all. nd she worked with me to find a look that I liked. What I loved about Theresa’s work is that she was able to make me look like an extra special version of myself. I loved how my makeup looked totally natural, and the colors she chose for my lips and eyes were perfect for me. She gave me the look to feel extra special, beautiful and confident on my wedding day as hundreds of photos and videos were taken. I look at them now, and I’m like “wow!”, her makeup made me look amazing in every photo. Looking back at the photos, I think that’s where Theresa’s work really shines. She knows exactly how to make you look like a goddess in photos.
On the technical side of things, Theresa’s makeup lasted all day (10am — 12am). She gave me a little baggie with the lipstick she chose and a sponge to do touch ups if needed which I thought was really sweet. It definitely came in handy because my wedding was a hot September day. But I didn’t need to do any major touchups, my makeup held strong throughout the day and withstood all the tears I had walking down the aisle. She also is a licensed beautician, and her whole process is sterile and thorough which just added this additional layer of confidence I had in her and her technique.
Overall, Theresa is stellar on so many different levels and truly went above and beyond what I ever expected. She was great to work with and does outstanding work, especially when captured through photography / videography! I couldn’t recommend her more highly! 6/5 stars.
