Coming from Chicago, I was stressed enough about wedding planning, let alone finding a makeup artist in a city where I'd never had it done. After some due diligence research on the Knot, my mother and I reached out to Carolina, who was more than willing to have a pre-consultation phone call with us to discuss my VERY specific desires. The best part - she agreed, and her main priority was to make ME feel special and beautiful, but also provide advice that was so helpful as a bride (such as what makeup photographs best in pictures, etc.). She is incredibly sweet and kind, but also very experienced in this industry and very professional. I had a few other trials and my main concern was that the stylists simply didn't listen to what I was going for, but just did a "template" job that they probably always do. With Carolina, everything is customized. I would highly recommend Carolina. She also travels, which is great, as my wedding party is getting ready in a hotel, and she's doing the whole group. After many bummer trials, Carolina made me feel at ease and excited about my makeup for my big day. Bonus that she provides a lip gloss to keep your touch-ups all day long! UPDATE: The work that Carolina did was OUTSTANDING. I have never felt more beautiful in my entire life! She was so strategic in creating the look that I wanted, while providing her expert guidance on best colors, amazing(!) contouring, etc. She also spends an extra special focus on the B and MOB, which was very nice and we both felt like queens. My mother looked so incredible as well....we definitely will use Carolina again when we feel like having a "beauty" day or just for fun. I'd love to get lessons from her too. She's a true expert in this industry.

Carolina and her crew were amazing. I did my trial on the day of my shower, and Carolina was able to give me a great idea of what I’d look like on the day, and then promptly adjust my makeup slightly so I would not look overdone for the more casual event. On the big day, she and her staff took input from me on general colors and look, and went from there, and they were able to get all seven of us looking absolutely stunning. One of the stylists was even able to get my mother, who rarely wears more than a tiny bit of eyeshadow and was somewhat gun-shy even as she was sitting in the chair, loving her final look. Carolina herself did final touch-ups on everyone, and our makeup stayed flawless all day, despite the heat and the hours we spent outside taking pictures.

My husband said he's never seen me so beautiful! Make Up Mavens brought out my natural beauty and really gave me a bridal look. I had never had airbrushing or contouring and I'll tell you it made all the difference! My mother especially loved her make up and lashes! I'm so thankful for everything they did for me. I will definitely be using them whenever I have another event.

I had a very negative experience with Makeup Mavens on Location. For my wedding, I was the only one getting my hair & make-up professionally done. When I originally contacted Carolina to see if she could come to my venue to do my hair and make-up, she said that she wouldn't be able to come to me unless my whole bridal party was getting their hair & make-up done. I explained that it would be just me (the bride) and let her go. But, she called me back and said that she had someone who lived close to my venue who would be able to meet me at my venue to do just my hair & make-up and that would be fine. It sounded great to me, so I paid her over the phone, she emailed me a contract, and we arranged for Tiffany to meet me on the day of my wedding. Carolina told me that Tiffany would call me to learn more about my hair & make-up preferences, but Tiffany never called. I was never given Tiffany's contact information (even though I requested it). I emailed Carolina pictures of what I wanted, but I later found out that Tiffany never received any pictures. Days before my wedding Carolina called me and said that they wouldn't be able to come to my venue anymore to do my hair & make-up, because they wouldn't be able to do hair & make-up for just 1 person. She explained that it was a waste of time and that I really needed to have my whole bridal party get their hair & make-up done to make it worthwhile. She also insisted that I tip 20%. This phonecall was obviously very discouraging for me - it was so close to my wedding, and our contract stated that only 1 person would be getting their hair & make-up done, so I was upset that Carolina tried to make me feel guilty when she had already agreed to do just 1 person's hair & make-up. I felt so afraid that they would back-out and guilty for wasting their time that I begged one of my bridesmaids to get her hair & make-up professionally done with me. I called Carolina to let her know that we had one more bridesmaid, and Carolina arranged for Tiffany to meet us earlier at my venue. They said that it would take no longer than 2 hours per person, and they could have us ready to go by the time we needed for pictures & the ceremony. On the day of my wedding, Tiffany arrived 45 minutes late and spent nearly 5 hours doing just my hair and make-up, finishing up just minutes before our ceremony. She didn't bring the right equipment to give me the look that I wanted and at one point used rubbing alcohol (ouch!) on half of my face to undo a make-up mistake. She was very snappy and rude when I tried to give my input about what I liked/didn't like, which made me feel uncomfortable, frustrated, and not satisfied with my look. I felt like I didn't look my best throughout the day because both the hair & make-up were just okay. Tiffany also didn't have time to do my bridesmaid's hair, so my bridesmaid had to throw together a half pony tail at the last minute just so she didn't miss the ceremony. Tiffany's lateness caused me to miss my pictures and pushed our ceremony and reception dinner back. I later missed time with my guests, because I had to take pictures. The whole experience was very frustrating and unprofessional. I am sad that a company that treats its customers so poorly was given the best of the the knot 2014 award. Having Makeup Mavens on Location for my wedding caused me tremendous stress, and I was very dissatisfied overall. I would strongly encourage you to find someone else to do your hair&makeup

My idea of being "made up" involves mascara, lipstick, and a small amount of translucent powder. I have a chocolate complexion and love a natural look. Needless to say, shopping for a make-up artist for my special day created a moderate level of anxiety. I scheduled a consultation with Carolina of Makeup Mavens and I no longer feel anxious. Carolina was warm, patient and explained the process to me. She enhanced my natural beauty without making me look unrecognizable. I love that she will come to my location on my wedding day. I had a great experience at Makeup Hair & Makeup. Carolina did a great job with my combining colors to get my a perfect tone for my skin complexion. I like the way she explained everything that she doing as she went alone. She makes you feel very comfortable and she ask before she applies the makeup to see what it is that you want and don't want. Carolina did my makeup and my mom's on the day of my wedding, June 29, 2013. I was very pleased with the results. Being nervous, she put me at ease with her relaxed way of speaking and acting. She made me feel like a princess!! Her professionalism and knowledge of skin and makeup was very obvious. Everyone told me how beautiful I was. The colors she chose for my makeup and lipstick were perfect for the day and the photographs. I had never gotten that many compliments on my makeup before. My mom, who nevers wear makeup was stunning. My dad and her friends told her she looked like a movie star. We both would highly recommend Carolina and the Makeup Mavens. Prior to the wedding day, I had a trial make up session. Carolina listened very carefully to what I wanted and asked many questions about my dress and my hair. I had my makeup professionally done by Carolina from Makeup Mavens. I also had Carolina complete the makeup for my bridal party. I had a big wedding party that included my mother and she was able to accomodate 9 ladies in a short time frame. Carolina is extremely friendly, professional and does an amazing job. I felt like a princess and was told throughout the day how beautiful everyone looked. I received so many compliments on my makeup and the best one was from my husband. I noticed him holding back tears at the alter and when I walked up he told me I looked so beautful!!! I highly recommend Carolina for any occasion, especially weddings.

These women are not only dedicated to their professions, but absolutely LOVE what they do (meaning they do it WELL and we all had a blast as they worked on us!). I could not have fathomed up a more skilled or loving team. They listened to what I wanted, while also making constructive suggestions and accomplished bringing forth my dream look for my wedding. Every single girl in my bridal party was pampered and looked radiant. I did not worry at all before the wedding about anything -they took care of it all, and I was able to sit back, relax while being spoiled, and enjoy feeling so beautiful the day of my wedding. Carolina at Makeup Mavens was such a blessing! I had been looking for a professional to do my bridal makeup (I had something specific in mind). I had tried another place and was not happy at all. Frustrated, I researched my previous bridal show pamphlets and made an appt. with Carolina, I was more than pleased. She was a dream come true, not only professional, but experienced, which was exactly what I needed and was looking for. I highly recommend her for her expertise, knowledge and artistry. I booked her immediately, and am so looking forward to having her do my bridal makeup in a few months for my wedding!

My wedding makeup was very well done, I liked the look and she made sure that all members of my party were comfortable with their look. Plus the makeup held up very well through the entire day including lots of crying, photos, and eating. My only complaint was that she charged more than we were initially quoted.

I just finished my pre-wedding hair and makeup trials and I was blown away with the results! Carolina and Mira are lovely, fantastic professionals who made me feel like a star - and not only did my fiancee agree, but the pictures of their work were unbelievable!  I can't wait for September for our wedding - I know my whole bridal party will look fantastic!

Carolina is amazing! She's warm, caring, and is agreat listener - and her expertise in movie makeup really was apparent in the end result. Not only did she reshape my eyebrows, but her SpaGirl facials really made my skin look and feel as smooth as silk. The makeup was very natural, even at a distance and it lasted all day! She's very talented and her judgment of what would work for me was awesome...she's definitely someone you can trust to make you feel beautiful all day!

I am getting married in the spring, and just had my trial makeup done. I loved it! She was very attentive and asked a lot of questions to make sure I was getting the look I wanted. Can't wait to see myself and my bridesmaids on the big day!
