on. I showed her what I was looking for when she arrived at my house, which was a very natural glam look. However, I shared I loved the eye makeup but I was not pleased with the foundation color, since I felt it was too dark for m skin tone, (she mentioned we would work on this for the wedding day). The hair was nice but I wasn't in love with it, so I said maybe we could do a trial with a different hairstyle ( I would pay), so I could make the best decision. I didn't love the lip color but this wasn't an issue because I can find any color I love and use it that day. I expressed wanting to move forward and she said she was available on the wedding day. I messaged her the following day in order to book the trial for the hair and I received no response. After two days of waiting, I reached out again and I received a response saying she didn't think she was a good fit for my vision. While this may be fair, I think there were other concerns here, since my concerns about foundation color and trying another hair style were reasonable. Most makeup artists are willing to take feedback and be flexible. I have never gone through the process before so I didn't know better. Now I think it would have been a good idea for her to ask for a picture of me and of the inspiration I wanted prior to us meeting. I could have been very dark skinned or very fair, and having the appropriate foundation would be good. Also, she could have told me that the look I wanted was not something she could achieve. Instead I paid for her to travel to my house, and paid for a trial that was supposed to go towards the wedding day and I'm out $320 and I have to start from scratch. I think some of this could have been prevented. I think she is nice, and skilled, but could work on preparation and being flexible. I think I was polite, nice and appreciative, but since it is my wedding day I was honest about some areas we could modify a little. Still I wanted to work with her and again, my concerns were reasonable. She subsequently posted a video on social media in Russian saying how she rejected a bride because she reminded her of a prior client. (Take this as you wish, it may or may not be about me but high coincidence). I'm a physician and if I didn't see patients who questioned what I said and didn't just do what I said, I would have no patients. People are people, and when you pay for a service you should have a say. She is likely flexible and professional 90% of the time. The makeup was decent and so was there hair, but doing business was a disappointment. This was my experience, and I think people would appreciate having all the information.
