During the makeup trial, she really took the time to understand what I wanted — and on the wedding day, she made sure everything looked just right. She was so attentive and made small tweaks to ensure I felt 100% confident and comfortable. Her ability to listen and adjust based on what you want is something that really sets her apart.
Not only is Codie incredibly talented, but her team of makeup artists who worked with my bridesmaids were fantastic as well! Every single one of my bridesmaids loved their makeup and felt beautiful and confident, which made the entire getting-ready experience so special and fun.

I also had a bridesman who wanted his hair done, which doesn't sound that hard, but he was in another wedding 2 weeks later and said that HMUA didn't do as good of a job as Codie's team because they didn't have the right size curling iron. However, I had to ding a star because Codie had a significant issue with time management. It was an issue at the hair and makeup trial, when we had our engagement photos right after. I told her ahead of time and during the trail that I had a tight timeline to get to our shooting location. However, we ran so late that I had to change in the car and missed calls from my photographer. Because of this, I asked Codie multiple times if we needed early access to the venue for all of our services on the wedding day. She assured me it would be fine with the standard time, but we started running late with the first group and finished an hour late. This delayed our first look so we had to change locations, as guests had already shown up. We also had to shift wedding party photos until after the ceremony because of this, which pushed into our other planed photos and our time to mingle with guests.

I do want to clarify the timing concerns mentioned. I arrived on time for both the trial and the wedding day, and our team remained on site throughout services. For the trial, I stayed beyond the scheduled end time to continue refining details so you felt confident with the final look. On the wedding day, we also stayed past the scheduled end time to complete final touches and support the timeline.
Wedding days involve many moving parts, and I always strive to balance efficiency with flexibility while delivering high-quality work. I appreciate the feedback and wish you both all the best.

, only to find that my preferred vendor, Makeup ATX, was already booked solid for my October wedding.
While I was thrilled with the work Makeup ATX did for my rehearsal dinner look, I ended up having to go with a different company for my actual wedding day. Unfortunately, the end result was just "okay" - not the flawless, camera-ready glam I had envisioned.
My advice to other brides is to secure your dream beauty team as soon as you set your wedding date. Don't risk settling for a provider that doesn't fully understand your vision. Book early, and you'll be able to relax and enjoy the pampering on your big day.
I learned this lesson the hard way, but you don't have to. Start researching hair and makeup artists now, and get those appointments locked in. Your future self (and wedding photos) will thank you!

I was pretty nervous about several of my beauty issues and how it would affect the look that I wanted (melasma and straight hair that doesn't like to stay curled). She went above and beyond to make me feel at ease. She was the only HAMU artist that actually talked to me before we booked and answered ALL of my questions and concerns. I went into my wedding day confident and she did not disappoint. Her team arrived on time and did an amazing job with my LARGE bridal party (9 bridesmaids plus 2 moms). Even though my bridesmaids ran late, Codie kept me calm and even gave me a fun kit of makeup to keep me looking fabulous throughout the wedding. I am so happy that we went with her!! my wedding planning style by telling me she also had "champagne taste on a beer budget". Codie can do it all. From wedding hair/makeup, makeup for some Real Housewives of Dallas to editorial work. She really has the range to create what ever you would want for the day of your wedding.
Skill and professionalism aside, I truly enjoyed spending time with Codie during our trial and the day of my wedding. As cheesy as it sounds, I felt like I was hanging out with a friend because the conversation flowed so easily. She really took her time and made sure my hair and makeup was exactly what I wanted. She made me feel comfortable speaking up about some tweaks I wanted to my makeup. And man oh man, can she tease some hair. My notoriously flat hair had the perfect amount of volume all night.
In a city full of talented makeup artists, I urge you to book someone who you enjoy. Trust me... you'll end up spending hours with this person so make sure you at least enjoy yourself. Thank you so much Codie. I assure you my wedding day won't be the last time we see each other!

She brought the same fun energy to the day of our wedding! She showed up on time and even though the bridal party (all 12 of us getting hair and makeup) was running 30 minutes late, she did not stress out at all about it. They still easily got everyone’s hair and makeup done in time.
Her team has the same energy she has. One of my bridesmaids didn’t like how the braid in her hair look and she was hesitant to say something. I told her that they wanted to know if we don’t like something so they can fix it. The whole team wants us to be happy and feel beautiful. So she asked if her artist could fix it and she gladly did!
I would hire Codie and her team again in a heartbeat.

, which I was totally not expecting. The smells were amazing, the hair tools she used were warm and relaxing but not hot or loud, and the creams and brushes she used made me feel totally pampered!
She was gentle, calm, and soothing in both her approach and her demeanor. She was the perfect amount of chatty -- conversational but not overwhelming-- there was still plenty of space for me to relax and unwind and sit in silence, which as an introvert was so appreciated and needed! She was prompt, reliable, and very easy to talk to! That is so important to me.
When I saw my makeup, I was delighted. I looked put together and glowy, but still totally like myself! Somehow she tamed my wild mane and put me at total ease throughout the whole process. She was such a pro and I found myself just wanting to be her friend! I left feeling refreshed, spoiled, and the most beautiful I've felt in YEARS! I would highly recommend Codie and I can't wait to use her again in the future. I think I need to do this more often!

Kayla did my makeup and hair for my trial and wedding. She took all of my worries and concerns away! When Kayla handed me a mirror - I looked like me, but better! The makeup she used felt so light and airy. My bridal portraits came out perfect!
She had 2 other artists that she brought on the wedding day. They did such an amazing job and made my bridal party look great too!

Kayla with Makeup ATX, did my makeup and hair for my trial. I used the trial for my bridal portraits. I felt so pretty and loved the way my hair and makeup turned out.
For the wedding I decided last min ( as in the day of my wedding) that I wanted to change the hair up so it wasn’t the same as my bridal portraits. I trusted that Kayla would nail the look I wanted. I was right! I loved both my looks she created! My hair and makeup lasted all day and through the night❤️
