Mama's Boy

We didn't believe our food would ever be as good as it was for the tasting, but (mamas) BOY were we wrong!!! We could not have been happier with our catering. Cooper was wonderful and so flexible as we began the planning process and helped us to create the perfect customized menu. EVERYTHING was perfect and the staff was lovely as well. We had late lunch and served the BBQ pork. I seriously don't think I've ever enjoyed a meal more!! Thank you so much, mamas boy!

We got so many compliments on the food at our wedding! Usually food at a wedding is nothing too special, but people could not stop talking about how delicious our mama's boy southern food was. We even had two vegetarian friends say the chicken looked so good they just had to try it! We ate all the leftovers the next day and I still wasn't tired of it!! Cooper was so easy to work with and made planning a breeze. I also appreciated that she was honest with us when we were picking out food and told us if she thought it was too much. We were providing our own alcohol and Cooper even listed out the amount of mixers we needed to get for everything. On the day of the wedding everything ran smoothly. They set up tables, moved our ceremony chairs to the reception area, and served bar effortlessly.

Finding a caterer was possibly the most challenging part of planning our wedding. We had a modest budget to work with, and wanted just light, fun, refreshments at our reception to hug our guests and celebrate. We're so glad we found Mama's Boy, as they do way more than just cater. Cooper answered all our questions and communicated very professionally, all with her sparkle and personal touch to make planning a fun experience! Even though our cake was from a different vendor, they arranged, cut, and plated the cakes, and they set up our "grooms cake" (a giant wheel of cheese that we brought from the grocery store). Their crew cleaned everything up, even the sanctuary and our dressing rooms! The food was amazing, as expected, as we are big fans of the Mama's Boy restaurant. Fun fact: our first kiss was on the greenway behind their Oak Street location). Our guests raved over their afternoon brunch menu! Worth every dime; just book early because they're popular!

Cooper and the staff were SO helpful before and during the wedding...not just with the food but giving lots of extra advice, as well as providing a lot of the supplies for us. We got so many compliments on how delicious the food was and one person said it was the best food they ever ate at a wedding! :D HIGHLY suggest using Mamas Boy - you won’t be disappointed! :)

We had our rehearsal dinner at Mama's Boy. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was great, the decorations were perfect, and they were really easy to work with. Highly recommend!

Cooper was a dream to work with as we planned our daughters wedding. The food was delicious. The mamas boy service at the reception was outstanding. They were extremely organized, and set the tables beautifully. They had a high number of staff. There was never a wait at the 2 bars. One thing that was important to me was to get the 200 guests through the buffet quickly so we could eat and get the dancing started. Cooper set up 2 identical buffets that were accessible from both sides of each table, so essentially 4 lines and it went so quickly. It couldn't have been better. Cooper was amazing throughout the entire process! She went above and beyond in coordinating with all of our other vendors and she was super understanding and accommodating when our guest count kept changing during the final weeks. She will always shoot you straight with smart practical advice that she has acquired from doing hundreds of weddings and she is willing to help out with little extras if she can, which was very much appreciated. The food was absolutely phenomenal (not surprising given all of the delicious brunches we've had at Mama's Boy) and all of our guests couldn't say enough great things about it. Cooper tweaked the menu for us multiple times until we got exactly what we wanted. Her and her chef were always open to our ideas and made it such an enjoyable experience for both of us. The serving staff was great and made everything work smoothly. They had all the food and drinks packed up and loaded into our car at the end of night and made it a breeze on our way out. Overall, we can't say enough great things about Cooper and Mama's Boy. We really couldn't have pulled everything off without her and her team. If you're looking for a caterer who will help you coordinate with all of your other vendors, make sure you're budget is where it needs to be, and will provide some of the best food and service you can find, then you cannot go wrong with Mama's Boy.

What an easy process! I knew mama's boys food was delicious, but I was still blown away. We had such a fun time picking out the food and taste testing it with Cooper and Shiela! They were always available for quick questions or total meltdowns. Everyone I talked to was raving about the food. They made sure I had food first which was great because I was afraid I'd be too busy to eat. There was also two full meals in our hote room when we got back! Thanks for everything!

Cooper and Josh were an absolute DREAM TEAM for our wedding this past June! From the first time we contacted Mama's Boy, Cooper was extremely timely and gracious with her responses and got us a sample menu based on our ideas almost immediately. Their prices are VERY reasonable and with the high quality of the food and service, I would say they were the best caterer we could possibly find -- and we looked at numerous "higher-end" caterers in both Atlanta and Athens. The food was positively wonderful, and we are still getting compliments 6 months later on how much everybody loved everything. (We had a traditional Southern menu with fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, shrimp and grits [to die for!], and a seasonal salad.) My husband is half Iranian, and Mama's Boy was even able to include a traditional Persian dish in our menu! When Josh did the walk-through with us, it was very clear that he was extremely detail-oriented, organized, and dedicated to getting our vision of the day just right. Although I came into the walk-through with typical pre-wedding nerves, I walked away relaxed, knowing that Josh and his team would take care of all of our catering needs. Josh and Cooper were always available to discuss any concern or issue that I had about the wedding day, and they made the entire process so much smoother and stress-free. Since they are familiar with so many venues in Athens, they also worked with our reception venue to make sure every small detail went off without a hitch...they were almost like having a second coordinator. They are SO great. If they are available for your day (they sometimes book up months in advance), I would not hesitate to recommend them for ANY event you are hosting! Seriously, best decision we made, bar none.

I was so extremely lucky to secure Mama's Boy to cater my wedding. You could not ask for a better caterer/planner/new best friend than Cooper. I am sad we won't be chatting anymore now that the wedding is over! She is so amazing and makes sure she knows exactly what you want down to the very last detail. This is not at the expense of their food either, it is delicious! I had many people tell me our wedding food was their favorite out of any weddings they had yet been to! My wedding experience would not have been the same without Cooper and I am SO very thankful for all she did to make my evening great! If you are looking for a caterer and they aren't already booked, then you would be absolutely crazy not to go with Mama's Boy.

Obviously I'm not alone in this based on other bride's reviews, but Cooper is the sweetest person on this earth and will make your wedding planning process SO amazingly smooth. If she would go into the actual planning side of things (hint, hint Cooper) then I would 100% use her for as many details of my big day as possible. From introductory e-mails to the actual wedding day, Mama's Boy knocked their competition out of the water. Fast responses, genuinely nice folks and flat out amazing food! We are so thrilled we decided to use these guys & just wish we had enough leftovers to last through our whole first year of marriage. The food looked great & was a huge hit with guests (Southern Comfort Food- fried chicken, BBQ, squash casserole, mac & cheese, green beans & biscuits... YUM!) Cooper even helped with random wedding questions, set-up recommendations and decor.. there is nothing this lady can't do. Don't even waste your time contacting other local vendors because this is the best thing you can do for your wedding! Mama's Boy.... YOU ROCK.

I can not say enough great things about Mama's Boy! The management is awesome - Cooper was a joy to work with! They went above and beyond typical catering service expectations. For example, my venue had tables and chairs, but we needed to use the chairs for the ceremony as well as reception, requiring a move from a side garden to backyard during cocktail hour. Mama's Boy not only handled all that set up, but Cooper also designed the table lay out at the reception for me! Then there's the food --- AMAZING! I got numerous compliments that we had the "best wedding food I've ever had"! We had a typical southern meal: Shrimp & Grits, Fried Chicken, Mac & Cheese, Green Beans, Summer Grilled Veggies, Caprese Salad, cornbread, biscuits and delicious pimento cheese & bacon-wrapped dates during cocktail hour! EVERYTHING was incredible! The team was great and even made plates for my husband and I to eat during the cocktail hour before we joined the reception (because we wanted to ensure we actually got to try everything!). We provided alcohol, but Mama's Boy also handled our bartending services. Overall this was great -- my only half star reduction on professionalism is because we did have a bartender who was new, and poured extremely strong drinks. That said, everyone had a great time and we didn't have much alcohol leftover! I HIGHLY recommend Mama's Boy / their new company name Goody Two Shoes! Affordable, awesome to work with, flexible and delicious!

I could not be happier with our decision to use Mama's Boy to cater our wedding! The owner, Cooper, was so easy to work with and was very helpful in choosing our menu. She was very prompt about answering my questions and getting in touch with me about quotes/payment information. Cooper and her crew were so organized on the day of the wedding and really helped to make sure the prep, reception, and cleanup ran smoothly. I cannot stress how great the staff were, or how amazing the food was! Our wedding guests are still telling us how much they loved the food (we got married 8 months ago)! I will definitely use Mama's Boy if I ever need a caterer again!

Choosing Mama's Boy was one of the best wedding decisions I made. The owner Cooper was extremely helpful and down to earth. She was amazing to work with! She was like a second wedding coordinator and seriously made everything so easy. Mama's Boy's food is incredible and my guest had so many compliments about the food. If you pick Mama's Boy you can't go wrong. I recommend them to everyone!

Cooper with Mama's Boy was a massive help with our wedding in Athens. Beyond setting up and serving the food, her staff helped with the centerpieces, flowers, etc and served the bar which was incomparable to a regular caterer. Our menu consisted of mac and cheese balls, biscuits, grilled veges, shrimp and grits, chicken and broccoli casserole, and strawberry lemonade and everyone couldn't stop talking about how good everything was. I highly recommend Athen's own Mama's Boy!

I cannot say enough great things about Cooper and Mama's Boy! They truly made my wedding day so much more special in so many ways. From the beginning, Cooper was so easy to work with and truly helped make my ideas come to life. She not only plans the catering side of things, but also all of the rentals as well. The staff was so attentive to each and every little detail, and made sure to check in with my husband and I throughout the night to see if we needed anything. In addition, to impeccable service, the food was unbelievable! Guests are still talking about the "best fried chicken" they have ever had. Our wedding was a truly southern affair with all of the staples! The best part is Cooper will work with you to make the wedding perfect for you while meeting your budget!

Mama's Boy was a dream come true! We had looked at a lot of other caterers in the Athens area, and they all wanted to charge us more than we had paid for venue! Mama's Boy not only gave us a very reasonable price, but really delivered! The food was awesome, everyone loved it. And the employees and bartenders were great. Everything went off without a hitch, and we didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for it!

I rented out the facility for my rehearsal dinner and was THRILLED with the outcome! Cooper and her staff are amazing to work with and the food is AMAZING! You can eat there for breakfast and lunch and Cooper even had a special meal made for us when we came in so we could sample something on the catering menu that isn't on their regular menu. The inside of the facility is so charming and seriously - the fried chicken is definitely worth trying! We ended up going back on the wedding day for brunch we enjoyed it so much!

Cooper at Mama's Boy was absolutely wonderful to work with. The food is just as good as being at the restaurant itself, and looked great. We had a morning wedding, so it was fun to have their biscuits and rasberry preserves plus frittata, along side pork tenderloin sandwiches, a craisin salad, and other delicious foods. My dad really wanted to have some form of seafood at our reception, so Mama's Boy did bacon wrapped scallops and crawfish etoufee, and every single person I talked to after our wedding said how much they loved it! As a bride, it was great to work with them because I completely trusted Cooper to get things done, plus they went above and beyond the food quality and service of a catering company (my coordinator was surprised with all the setup they include in their service charge, plus that they helped load presents in the back of my mom's car after the reception). Definitely use them if you want a taste of Athens, plus reasonably priced, delicious food! PS: You don't have to go the breakfast route. Mama's Boy will also do lunch or dinner items, even if its not on their menu. They will completely work with your budget, whether you want biscuits and eggs, or a five star dinner.

I am so thrilled with Mama's Boy! Cooper was fantastic to work with! The food was phenomenal and the price was very reasonable. They even catered the rehearsal dinner. I've been singing their praises ever since!

We love this place! Cooper was fantastic, the food was fabulous! We could not have asked for more.
