Mana Sabroso

Mana Sabroso is a relative newcomer to the San Antonio wedding-catering scene, but after our recent experience, I think it’s just a matter of time before they go to the top of most peoples’ ‘best caterer’ lists. They were one of about a dozen catering companies presenting at a wedding expo we attended, and they stood out to us immediately for two reasons: the samples they served were the best we tasted all day, and their presentation was totally straightforward. In contrast to a hard-sell approach, Chef Javier seemed content to let his food speak for itself, which impressed us very much (as did the food)-- enough that they were the first company we contacted for a tasting. The tasting could legitimately have been a restaurant experience—it was a full-service appointment and they treated us like we were guests in their home. They prepared three dishes for us freshly, all of which were fabulous (we took leftovers home and had a nice dinner!). We decided on chicken carbonara and an awesome salmon for the wedding. The reception dinner could hardly have gone better—service was all-class, and we were very proud to give our guests a five-star dining experience. Mana Sabroso did everything from setting the tables (beautifully!) beforehand, to serving fresh fruit and cheese hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour, to serving the wedding cake later in the evening, to total cleanup afterward; they even did our place settings in a specific non-standard way that we requested and they were beautifully-appointed. Most importantly, the food was OUT of this WORLD-- nearly every single guest we hosted complimented us enthusiastically on dinner. There were leftovers (several guests canceled last-minute), and all we ate the two days following the wedding was chicken carbonara and fresh vegetables, which we couldn’t get enough of. I’m not trying to be hyperbolic, but it was truly some of the best chicken either of us have had. Our venue has several catering companies on their preferred-vendor list, but we went with Mana Sabroso because we believed we’d found a special family who values the importance of a great meal to commemorate a special time, and we’re thrilled with what they gave us. After the reception, both our wedding planner and the venue owner told us that they were so impressed with the catering that they plan to recommend Mana Sabroso to future clients going forward. We hope they do, because we feel confidently that anyone looking for a first-rate caterer will find one here. Supremely recommended.
