I'm Marcela Pulido and I'm a wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon that specializes in documentary style storytelling for a fun, stress-free day!
I have a modern approach to capturing timeless images; seamlessly blending easy directional posing, candid moments, and artistric portraiture. My photography style is romantic and nostalgic... with a dash of grit.
Weddings are all about bringing your community together to celebrate. Whether you see that happening as a giant multi-day festival type of event or an intimate backyard wedding or even an outdoorsy elopement with an epic landscape, I'm down for it all. From the sentimental first look to the laughter-filled toasts and everything in between, these are the kind of moments that deserve to be captured. Bellyaching laughter and tear-stained cheeks… this isn't about those super posed, stiff moments, nah. I'm talking about real love. Yeah, I’ll capture that.
In my spare time I'm binge watching bad tv shows, probably playing Mass Effect for the millionth time, and taking my dog Rupert out on lengthy walks around my Portland neighborhood. I like eating Mexican food because it reminds me of home, drinking mezcal, and seeing live music. I do what I can to help support the local BIPOC community as best as I can and strive to be inclusive and diverse in my portfolio. photos turned out great! We had some unexpected rain right during the scheduled photo time, and Marcela adjusted so easily to make sure we still got our photos in and captured some beautiful candid shots as well. Marcela was also very prompt at getting our sneak peek back and all of the finished photos done. She is also a great communicator when we had some additional requests to create an album we could share with our guests.

to do our engagement photos and she went above and beyond to work us into her schedule for both shoots (because when her work is so incredible and you have a long engagement you know you have to have winter AND summer engagement photos).
I didn’t really have anything in mind and didn’t give her much direction but she captured so many photos I didn’t even know I needed or wanted. She’s so creative and made us feel so comfortable. In addition to being such a talented photographer, Marcela was also wonderful to work with - responsive and organized from my first point of outreach. She followed-up regularly in the lead-up to the wedding and always responded to my questions promptly. At the wedding itself, Marcela made taking bridal party photos, family photos, etc. seamless and fun. She also managed to be present but not intrusive so that the photos she got really felt authentic.

share with your significant other. We were fortunate to have Marcela take my engagement photos and shoot our wedding in April of 2018. Marcela has a great way of getting real life scenarios and poses out of you. Even though my husband and I were not use to taking professional photos, Marcela made it easy the entire time. She encouraged us and laughed with us and made us feel as if we knew what we were doing. She really got some wonderful portrait and candid shots of us! I truly am in love with the pictures she took. Both sessions she was early, organized and had a great big smile that said she was ready for business! She had her list of what needed to get done, but was also flexible with last minute ideas and was truly there for us.
If you are unsure about choosing Marcela as your photographer, go to her website and Instagram and compare it to others. The way she captures and describes couples as individuals is a true talent. Each and every couple has their own story and it’s apparent in the photos she takes. She understands people and photography and is able to make the same shot for one couple have a totally different feel for another couple. My husband and I love our photos and could literally not stop looking at them when we received them! I thought I would be nervous, as I’m not someone that likes getting their photo taken, but I was surprised how easily she made it and how comfortable she made us feel. Through our entire session, we felt like we were hanging out with an old friend. She was very open to our ideas, including having a sunrise first-look (super early!), hiking to our ceremony spot (with a cold!), and was even down to stop between our first look and ceremony locations for a quick breakfast. She joined us afterward, during our reception as a friend, and blended right in with everyone. Our families even commented about how nice and respectful she was. Our photos turned out more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. She took photos during times that I didn’t even realize she was photographing, photos that I didn’t realize I would want.
