About this vendor
You deserve damn good photos. Let me help you with that.
I'm Marcela Pulido and I'm a wedding photographer based in Portland, Oregon that specializes in documentary style storytelling for a fun, stress-free day!
I have a modern approach to capturing timeless images; seamlessly blending easy directional posing, candid moments, and artistric portraiture. My photography style is romantic and nostalgic... with a dash of grit.
Weddings are all about bringing your community together to celebrate. Whether you see that happening as a giant multi-day festival type of event or an intimate backyard wedding or even an outdoorsy elopement with an epic landscape, I'm down for it all. From the sentimental first look to the laughter-filled toasts and everything in between, these are the kind of moments that deserve to be captured. Bellyaching laughter and tear-stained cheeks… this isn't about those super posed, stiff moments, nah. I'm talking about real love. Yeah, I’ll capture that.
In my spare time I'm binge watching bad tv shows, probably playing Mass Effect for the millionth time, and taking my dog Rupert out on lengthy walks around my Portland neighborhood. I like eating Mexican food because it reminds me of home, drinking mezcal, and seeing live music. I do what I can to help support the local BIPOC community as best as I can and strive to be inclusive and diverse in my portfolio. All the couples I show are real, madly in love people ...just like you! Check out the Vendors of Color Directory while you're at it, I made that and I'm pretty dang proud of it!
So here I am. I'm Marcela and I'd love to take your photo.

Marcela was the perfect wedding photographer for us! We are normally quite uncomfortable getting our photos taken but we felt so comfortable with Marcela during our wedding and the...
photos turned out great! We had some unexpected rain right during the scheduled photo time, and Marcela adjusted so easily to make sure we still got our photos in and captured some beautiful candid shots as well. Marcela was also very prompt at getting our sneak peek back and all of the finished photos done. She is also a great communicator when we had some additional requests to create an album we could share with our guests.
Very professional, great communication. We are so pleased with the photos! We appreciated Marcelas' flexibility, working with the cold, rain, and even hale under the redwood trees....
Also her skill in getting in some good shots! We were married in Portland and are of the latinx community, and so we appreciated hiring Marcela as a fellow latinx. We definitely recommend Marcela.
Marcela!! You were everything we were looking for and so much more, and if we did it all over, we would definitely choose you again. We absolutely loved having you at our wedding....
You made us feel very comfortable in front of your camera, it was a lot of fun to have our first look with you. Your wonderful warm personality also brought out truly beautiful group photos of our bridal party and also our families.
We are astounded by how many moments of our wedding you captured absolutely perfectly- there were so many candid moments we would never have been able to see without you. Thank you so much for preserving our wedding for us to enjoy forever!
Wow!!! Marcela was an absolute joy to be around, so warm and friendly right from the beginning. She also got beautiful, beautiful shots of us despite some very unruly and unexpecte...
d weather. We felt so happy and comfortable during our engagement session and it really showed in our photos. Thank you so much Marcela, for capturing our joy and our love so beautifully. The photos are exactly what we were hoping for and we are so thrilled to have you at our wedding this summer!!
If I could give Marcela 10 stars I would! She was an absolute delight to work with for both our engagement and wedding photos. She's so kind, and made my husband and I feel complet...
ely at ease taking photos. The photos captured the candid, real moments of our wedding, and every time I look at them I'm transported to all of the feelings of that day. Also, Marcela is really passionate about inclusivity, which we need more of in this world. She's fantastic and will definitely deliver damn good photos!
There are so many great things to say about Marcela. She did our engagement photos and will do our wedding day photos, as well. She worked magic on our engagement shoot! My fiancé ...
and I are not photo people, and we came away with photos that are breathtaking. She is easy to work with, flexible, encouraging, and she even got our dog to pose successfully for some photos. We actually got to spend the day with Marcela for our shoot due to the rain causing us to go for a drive to the gorge to outrun it. She has a calm, nonjudgmental demeanor and it was a really fun day overall! With the global pandemic, she has been so understanding and easy to work with on rescheduling. We found Marcela through a friend’s recommendation and I am so glad we did!
Our wedding seriously wouldn’t have been as great as it was if Marcela wasn’t apart of it. Our wedding was extremely small but it never felt lonely. We got a few pictures less than...
24 hours after the wedding. If you’re considering a wedding in Oregon (or really anywhere) you need Marcela there.
We were visiting Oregon from Wisconsin and found Marcela for our engagement shoot on the coast. Loved her approach and style, and our finished photos were absolutely amazing. Highl...

Marcela’s work is pure magic! She is such a talented photographer and amazing human being. When I first looked at her portfolio/photos, I fell in love. I immediately contacted her ...
to do our engagement photos and she went above and beyond to work us into her schedule for both shoots (because when her work is so incredible and you have a long engagement you know you have to have winter AND summer engagement photos).
I didn’t really have anything in mind and didn’t give her much direction but she captured so many photos I didn’t even know I needed or wanted. She’s so creative and made us feel so comfortable. Not only that, she made it fun too! My husband hates taking photos more than anything and he even enjoyed it, that’s really saying something!
The engagement photos came out so beautiful! At that point I knew we HAD to have her for our destination wedding in Fiji. She was so easy to work with through the whole process. I thought it would be difficult but she made it so simple. The weather was crazy, the wedding day timeline was all over the place and nothing went exactly as planned but she captured the day PERFECTLY. We received the most beautiful slideshow and photos (super quickly too, I might add) and I could not be more grateful. If you are thinking about booking her for your wedding (or anything else for that matter) DO IT NOW! I promise, you will not regret it. Thank you again Marcela for being so amazing.
Marcela is a dream, not only is she an incredibly talented photographer, she is such an amazing person. Before booking with her we met with her through FaceTime and knew she was th...
e perfect match for what we wanted. We had the opportunity to take our engagement photos with her in some of our favorite places and they were absolutely stunning, which made us even more excited what was to come for our wedding. Marcela went above and beyond to make sure every single detail of our wedding was captured. When we received the gallery of photos, I was
blown away by her talent, and creative eye for photos.
When I set out to find a photographer, I knew that I wanted someone who could really capture the spirit of the day as opposed to taking a lot of highly stylized/posed pictures. Mar...
cela fulfilled this and more.
Her photos have a depth, beauty and realness that so many wedding photos lack. I absolutely love the photos she took - which somehow manage to capture the magical setting, joy/vibrancy of the guests and those beautiful in between moments.
In addition to being such a talented photographer, Marcela was also wonderful to work with - responsive and organized from my first point of outreach. She followed-up regularly in the lead-up to the wedding and always responded to my questions promptly. At the wedding itself, Marcela made taking bridal party photos, family photos, etc. seamless and fun. She also managed to be present but not intrusive so that the photos she got really felt authentic.
I would highly recommend Marcela to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. She is so talented and a real professional.
From the moment we first met Marcela we knew she was "our person." She is one of the the most genuine, down-to-earth humans I have ever met, and what an amazing talent! I was drawn...
to her photos the moment we saw her website and as soon as we sat down to have a beer and chat, we were sold! She was truly interested in learning about our story and who we were as a couple before we even discussed any sort of business. She is in love with love and it really shows in her work. On top of it she is very professional and communicative, and she was very understanding of our needs. She was kind enough to send us previous the morning after our wedding! Neither of us are super comfortable in front of the camera, but she made us feel like we had been doing this for a while all while laughing and having a good time. She is the best at capturing raw emotion and making people radiate from the inside out. We could not recommend her more; as of now we are looking for other excuses to book her and get to work with her. If you are looking for someone to capture your day, stop looking and lock Marcela down ASAP.
Marcela is so amazing. She shot our engagement photos and our wedding day. We've only seen a preview of our wedding photos, but from what we've seen our photos will be beautiful! H...

The decision to hire Marcela turned out to be a great one. She was considerate, creative, and a lot of fun. Marcela went above and beyond to accommodate our requests and was quick ...
to come up with great ideas that will serve as life time memories.
First things first, Marcela is an amazing person and an amazing photographer! She is definitely the person you want behind the camera to capture all the incredible moments you will...
share with your significant other. We were fortunate to have Marcela take my engagement photos and shoot our wedding in April of 2018. Marcela has a great way of getting real life scenarios and poses out of you. Even though my husband and I were not use to taking professional photos, Marcela made it easy the entire time. She encouraged us and laughed with us and made us feel as if we knew what we were doing. She really got some wonderful portrait and candid shots of us! I truly am in love with the pictures she took. Both sessions she was early, organized and had a great big smile that said she was ready for business! She had her list of what needed to get done, but was also flexible with last minute ideas and was truly there for us.
If you are unsure about choosing Marcela as your photographer, go to her website and Instagram and compare it to others. The way she captures and describes couples as individuals is a true talent. Each and every couple has their own story and it’s apparent in the photos she takes. She understands people and photography and is able to make the same shot for one couple have a totally different feel for another couple. My husband and I love our photos and could literally not stop looking at them when we received them! She also through in some special cool treats in our final package that really showed that she cares and listens! You will be completely satisfied choosing Marcela as your photographer, no matter what the occasion!
Super responsive and on the ball. Marcela took our engagement photos in Joshua Tree, and did a great job making us feel comfortable in front of the camera. Our photos are next leve...
l amazing. She is unfortunately booked for our wedding date, but she didn't leave us hanging and referred us to some other great photographers. However she did shoot my best friend's wedding too, and NAILED IT. She orchestrated the bridal party and families with a calm focus, but also kept it airy and fun in light of the event. Quick editing turnaround window (despite her travels, how does she do it?) BOOK HER RIGHT NOW!!!!
I have to say during my wedding it was like I didn't even know you were there taking all of those incredible photos, but all of our wedding party said how incredible you are. Plus ...
getting to see your work during m&z wedding and get to know you was wonderful. I wish I had a huge influence on wedding photographers for others because you truly are incredible. I'm so thankful for our pictures and getting to see their photos just was so wonderful too. I thought you should know we LOVE you and think you are super talented, incredibly kind and amazingly professional. All photos you take are gems. Truly thank you!

se from. Marcela was on board to travel 4 hours away to photograph us at our favorite location outdoors in the Pacific Northwest. I wanted a photographer that could capture amazing candid photos in several different nature landscapes on the coast and she did just that. Our photos are so dreamy and we are ecstatic that we chose her to capture our special day.

has she was very professional, always responding to my questions in a timely matter, and all the while assuring me with each response. She did a wonderful job positioning and coaching us in order to capture the best engagement photos. Overall, I was highly satisfied with her photography and her warm and pleasant personality. Thank you Marcela.

n old friend throughout the experience. We took a nontraditional route and said our vows out on a cliff in Yosemite, including a bit of a hike, and I don't think anyone else could have captured the moment and the emotions we felt like she did. Our photos are absolutely stunning and we are by no means professional models. Marcela truly has a gift and a good eye, but more importantly a kind and gentle soul. I would recommend her wholeheartedly and I am grateful we crossed paths.
The thing that drew us to Marcela (besides the beautiful photography!) was the diversity of the people she photographed. Other photographers that we looked at seemed to be too care...
ful about choosing ‘model-looking’ clients and the content that they displayed didn’t seem genuine-too posed. Looking through Marcela’s portfolio I could tell that she was able to capture authentic and perfectly imperfect moments of real people beautifully, which was something that we really wanted.
I thought I would be nervous, as I’m not someone that likes getting their photo taken, but I was surprised how easily she made it and how comfortable she made us feel. Through our entire session, we felt like we were hanging out with an old friend. She was very open to our ideas, including having a sunrise first-look (super early!), hiking to our ceremony spot (with a cold!), and was even down to stop between our first look and ceremony locations for a quick breakfast. She joined us afterward, during our reception as a friend, and blended right in with everyone. Our families even commented about how nice and respectful she was. Our photos turned out more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. She took photos during times that I didn’t even realize she was photographing, photos that I didn’t realize I would want. She’s like a ninja! She was able to capture so many beautiful, emotional, and understated moments and I’m so glad I have the photos to document our day. I can’t stop looking at them!
Besides being an incredibly talented, passionate, and professional photographer, she is a genuinely kind, chill, humble person. I don’t think we could have chosen a better person to photograph our day. She was an absolute joy to work with and we enjoyed having her around. Thank you Marcela!
This is one of the most beautiful and important moments of our life. I am so grateful that Marcela was able to record all these moments. We love all the photos and this really mean...
