About this vendor
“The perfect blend of posed photos and ‘in our natural element’ photos.”
- Jacqueline, Knot Verified Review (2025)
Q: What’s your goal on a wedding day?
A: Document it honestly - the real connection, the laughter, the quiet moments, and the things you didn’t even realize were happening. As one client shared, “From the tender moments to the joyful laughter, everything was beautifully preserved.”
Q: How does that happen without feeling awkward?
A: My background in photojournalism and working solo makes it easier to stay unobtrusive. Most of the day I’m a fly-on-the-wall, with calm guidance when it’s actually helpful. Clients often say, “Marci was everywhere - but so stealth we didn’t even realize we were being photographed,” and that being photographed felt “easy and fun,” even for camera-shy couples.
Q: What’s this style called?
A: Documentary with a heap of candids, a side of realism, and a dash of artistry. Your wedding photos will look like your wedding day - a timeless record of how it actually felt. Or, as one client put it, “Your talent for capturing the beauty in each moment is inspiring.”
Q: Who’s this approach best for?
A: Intimate, micro, and non-traditional weddings - especially for couples who care more about their people than performing for the camera. LGBTQ+ couples are warmly welcomed and celebrated, always.
Q: What sets this experience apart?
A: Support goes beyond photography: protecting your time with guests, smoothing out the timeline, and keeping things relaxed. Clients describe the experience as “laid back, fun to be around, professional, and very helpful,” adding, “It’s wonderful energy to be around someone that loves what they do.”
The Marci Curtis experience is consistently described as fun, professional, and stress-free. Images are delivered within two weeks, with full access and printing rights included. This approach has earned The Knot’s Couple’s Choice Award for 15 consecutive years - and more than one client has summed it up simply: “She’s worth every penny.”

gave me the shirt off her back so I could kneel down without getting anything on my dress. Also the candid photos she got during the reception of all the guests were so fun, and I’m so glad to have them to help remember parts of the night that feel like a blur!

Marci met or exceeded every expectation. In fact, I can't even imagine a photographer doing a better job. She is super professional and has the experience to answer every question ...
we could think of. She was also super fast in getting us photos to review. The challenge now will be to pick ones to print because there are hundreds of incredible shots.
She was on top of thing , the photography was incredible and she is a very sweet woman
I knew when I wanted to hire a photographer, that I wanted someone who captured the essence of who we are, as well as, our guests. I wanted that person to capture those natural mom...
ents, ones that aren’t orchestrated or necessarily IG worthy. For our speacial day, we hired Marci Curtis. She checked all of our boxes and gave us the perfect blend of posed photos and ‘in our natural element’ photos. It was perfect! Marci’s personality and expertise made our day that much more special. She is extremely talented! Her background in photojournalism brought a particular element of truly capturing moments that we loved! My only regret is that I would have hired her for a few extra hours. The extra money spent on that would have been priceless!
I knew from the first conversation with Marci that she was the photographer for me!! Marci had such enthusiasm about our wedding plans, helpful thoughts about venues, and extraord...
inary knowledge about photography!! She made the photo shoot easy and fun! I believe connection is the key with someone when they are doing such an important job for your special event! I highly recommend Marci Curtis Photography!
Marci Curtis Wedding Photojournalist was recommended to me by a family member. I looked at their wedding album and loved the photos. We hired her immediately and I’m so glad we...
did. I wasn’t a young bride and was planning on having many young children in the wedding, plus I am not photogenic. So needless to say I feared getting good photos would be a challenge. Marci’s artistic talent and patience made the experience smooth and she captured beautiful pictures as well as many candid moments. She provided us with helpful tips during the planning process and talked with us personally to find out our vision. Marci always responded promptly to phone calls and emails. Our proofs were available before the promised date. All of the photos are stunning. She is the best!
Omgoodness, Marci!!!!!!
Your artistry captured the Joy of our day PERFECTLY!!!!!
Thank you and thank you many times more……You are a gift to our family!
Chuck and I would love to...
schedule a photo session with you, this summer, at our home in Clarkston. I will be in touch for that.
Again, Marci, your presence and expertise at our celebration is appreciated and valued…..Immensely!

ded to hire her myself when I got married. Her prices were good, and we loved how the photos turned out. The photos turned out to be a good mix of the posed photos and candids. You end up spending a good chunk of the day just one on one with the photographer and your spouse, and she was fun and helped us feel super comfortable and I couldn't be happier. We did the 8-hour package and received our photos 1 week after the wedding which was amazing! We definitely made the right choice.
Marci was so easy to work with, reasonably priced, and took great photos! She especially did a great job taking candids of our guests and loved ones.
Marci is beyond AMAZING!!!! She was easy going and ensured we got every photo we could possibly ask for. I swear everyone who seen the photos were amazed on how great they turned o...
ut! She truly captured the love throughout the day, not just between my husband and I but the wedding party and guests as well! I couldn't of asked for a better person to photograph our wedding. She was kind, FUNNY and over all just comfortable to work with. My husband even said that he was worried about doing pictures since we're not big on PDA, but when Marci took over he said he instantly felt comfortable with her, and I can agree! I can not recommend her enough!!!
Thank you Marci for the amazing pictures and the quick turn around - 10/10 wouldn't change a thing!!❤️
Marci has worked for our family on 6 different occasions now, 2 weddings, 3 senior pictures and 1 engagement photo shoot. Her talent and professionalism is stellar, and we enjoy ho...
w she interacts with her subjects to bring out their unique personalities and emotions. Getting ALL your pictures in high resolution clarity to own and print is a huge plus, but truly the best part of her work is how she manages to recognize and capture the special moments of her subjects and deliver them to you in short order after the shoot.
5 stars, highly recommend, exceptional!!!
We couldn't be happier with our good luck in hiring Marci to photograph our wedding. She's a terrific photographer, first of all, who knows how to capture spontaneous candid photos...
of guests having fun as well as the more formal posed photographs and the ceremony itself. She's got a great eye for a memorable pic and is willing to do whatever it takes to capture her shot, even if it means getting herself a little dirty. But you can probably see her skill for yourself if you check out her portfolio. What you won't be able to see is how great Marci is to work with in every other way. She's thoroughly professional, punctual, and quick to respond to any questions you might have in the weeks leading up to your event. She's also so knowledgeable about weddings that she can act in some ways as an unofficial wedding planner, reminding you (or informing you for the first time) of a dozen things you can do to make your event go more smoothly so that you're more free to enjoy yourself on the day. She had terrific advice for us, ranging from how to wrangle relatives for photos to how to choose the kind of makeup that looks best under the lights. And to top all of this off, she's delightfully friendly and easygoing. Just having Marci in your corner is going to allow you to enjoy yourself more and focus on the most important parts of the day. And at the end of it you're going to have lots of amazing pictures! We recommend her unreservedly and enthusiastically.
Such a pleasure to work with <3
We hired Marci Curtis for our engagement photos in May 2023 and then our wedding on 12/16/23. I'm not even sure where to start because she was absolutely amazing to work with! She ...
is creative and talented; we couldn't be more pleased with how both our engagement and wedding photos turned out. She uses her photos to tell a story and doesn't do the staged or fake photos that have become so popular lately. Her photos evoke genuine emotion. When we look back at our photos now, she captured an actual moment in time that we can remember instead of some silly pose we were forced to do. She is an exceptional communicator and had so much information to offer for planning a wedding that wasn't even related to photography! Marci answers emails quickly and is extremely thorough. We would hire her again in a heartbeat and actually anticipate doing so when we can come up with another occasion we need to capture! Thank you Marci!

the whole lead up to the wedding. She really knows her stuff! My favorite photos were the candids she got of our friends and family. AND she got us all of our photos in only a week! She is incredible! I hope to work with her again in the future and will recommend her to friends and family.

Marci is incredible to work with and she gets incredible shots. Honestly, I couldn’t imagine my wedding day without her! She’s so down to earth, can put you at ease, and has a lot ...
of creative ideas. Not to mention… she’s so affordable, she delivers hundreds of pictures, and you don’t have to wait months for your pictures, either. Thank you so much, Marci, I literally couldn’t have gotten through that day without your presence!
From the first moment we met Marci, we knew we were in good hands. There was such a comfortableness felt immediately from her that makes you feel that you're in good hands. We had ...
so much fun with our engagement photoshoot, we knew that our wedding photos would be equally amazing, and they were and then some! Thank you for sharing the moment with us and capturing everything perfectly! We really loved working together with Marci and can confidently say you won't regret hiring her for your special day as well!
Marci was easy to work with, on-time, organized and fun. Marci helped to keep the bride and groom on schedue, while finding beautiful places in the venue to capture pictures. Hav...
ing a winter wedding in the Atrium of the Southfield Westin, Marci knew the lighting would change and made great use of that in the pictures. We were especially pleased with the many candid pictures of family and friends that Marci took. Marci really was personable and truly fun. Booking Marci was simple, she gave great advice as far as timing, makeup, "first look" etc., and her services were reasonably priced. We were very happy with Marci.

ur wedding date. She is professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and brings so much more than just her photography skills to her assignments. She was prepared with last minute emergency items that helped make the day go smoothly. I had a vision of taking photos outside in the streets of downtown Detroit and she captured them beautifully! I am not always comfortable in front of a camera, but Marci really helps make the photography process relaxed and helped calm some nerves before the ceremony. Months after my wedding, I still obsess over all my wedding photos for hours because they turned out so beautifully. I would 110% recommend Marci Curtis to anyone for any occasion!
She was insanely helpful, like way more than I would have thought a photographer could be. She fixed my bustle a million times and when it finally broke she even had big ass safety...
pins that she used to pin it up for me another million times haha She came with a lot of helpful tips and tricks and suggestions making herself pretty necessary to have around in so many more ways than to just capture photos. She was very sweet and easy to be around for 8 hours of my wedding which is important because you end up spending more time with the photographer than you spend with the majority of your family and friends! The pictures came back super quick and they blew me away. She did an amazing job and I would hire her again in a second.
Marci took so many photos of my husband and I and my family. She was fantastic with everything! She was super flexible with rescheduling for Covid multiple time and then with the m...

e bride and groom, every photo was stunning. Marci has an eye for detail and a knack for finding the perfect angle, which is evident in the final product. Her creativity shone through in the unique and beautiful shots she captured, which we will treasure for years to come.
Marci's patience and direction made our photo sessions stress-free, allowing us to focus on enjoying our special day. We couldn't be happier with the results and highly recommend her for any photography needs. She is a joy to work with, responsive, always professional, and easy to communicate with. We highly recommend Marci Curtis for any photography needs, she truly exceeded our expectations.
Marci PERFECTLY captured all of the love and fun of our New Year's Eve wedding. We don't love posing for photos so we were nervous, but Marci made the process fun and easy and made...
us feel so at ease. She was incredibly easy to work with, and insanely fast--she sent our 1,700 photos ONE WEEK after our wedding! I initially regretted not having a videographer, but Marci's photos totally made up for that. She captured all of the special moments and her photos truly tell the story of our perfect day. We cannot be more grateful to Marci for doing such an amazing job capturing the memories of our special day!

o the little details that can easily be missed. Through looking at her photos, we are able to go back and relive our wedding day over and over again. I honestly can't stop looking at them! She captured so much love and happiness from that day, and we are forever grateful! She is honestly the best of the best, and we can't say enough great things about her. Trust us, you will not be disappointed with her work!!
Marci is the ultimate professional and wedding photographer. She did our wedding on August 13, 2022 and we've already had amazing feedback from family/friends on our photos. She's...
calm, creative, and the exactly the person you need on your wedding day (or any other important event where high quality, beautiful photos are needed).
We received our photos within 2 weeks of our special day, which was awesome.
Everything ran smoothly and we really appreciated Marci's fun, calming, and professional approach.
She keeps an "emergency kit" with a crochet hook or whatever that thing is called. It literally saved the day for getting the buttons on the back of my dress looped (I had like 20 small buttons).
In closing, we are forever grateful to Marci for capturing our special day so beautifully and wanted to send a heartfelt thanks publicly. Marci for the win!
Wonderful experience and we love our photos!

raft and that can sometimes be rare in the wedding business. Our pictures turned out AMAZING. She managed to capture US but like the very best versions of us.
We also received our pictures super fast! We were still on our honeymoon when they came in. I have heard horror stories of other brides waiting months, or sometimes never getting them at all. Marci met every deadline she committed to, and we never had to pester her for anything.
She also gets very big bonus points for successfully managing a group of slightly intoxicated groomsmen.
100% recommend Marci! :)
If you are thinking of hiring Marci... do it!!! She was so much fun and got TONS of great pics. There are so many good ones we cant choose which ones to order! She also got our pic...
tures back to us very quickly after the wedding. She goes above and beyond to get the best shot, and is a blast to be around. My whole family/wedding parties loved her- would 100% recommend!

e sure the family photos are captured quickly, and was a fun addition to our big day without having to worry about making sure the photographer was there to capture something. My guests commented how after a few minutes of seeing her work, they felt confident that she was getting good photos and could put their phones away and just enjoy the day. We love our wedding photos - especially all of the candid ones which capture the memories perfectly!
Marci is SO amazing! She photographed my sister’s wedding a few years ago, and we knew we needed her at our wedding, too! She is so much fun to work with, and knows so much about w...
eddings in general, that she is not only an amazing photographer and artist, but also a fantastic resource! She took so many pictures and had so many amazing and creative ideas on the fly, as well as just being fun! After she packed up for the night, she joined us on the dance floor for a dance which was just so fun, too! We got our pictures less than a week after the wedding, which is an amazing turnaround, and they look wonderful! We also really liked that we own the photos, and can do whatever we want with them, just need to give Marci credit, which she totally deserves! We especially loved that we didn’t just get photos of us and our party, but she got at least a couple pictures (and good ones) of every single guest. Marci is an amazing photographer and person and we are so happy to have had her there for our special day! She truly captured the spirit of the day, and we will have so many wonderful memories that we can look back on with joy for years to come because of her talent! Thanks so much for helping make our wedding memorable, Marci!
Long before I even considered getting engaged, I knew that I wanted to have a wedding photographer with a photojournalist background shoot at my wedding—because they are experts wi...
th subjects with lots of movement. (Plus, constantly photographing the same two subjects in contrasting colors is TOUGH!) So because of my particular, non-negotiable requests, I didn’t have a lot of options, but Marci happened to be one of those options.
From the first “hey, are you busy on this date?” message, Marci provided a lot of insight for me, which helped me further be comfortable with the decision to do business with her. As we got closer to the date, she provided even more insight about wedding days (beyond just snapping photos) that helped me be more organized. Of course she’d have this insight for being in the business for two decades! If you love long, detailed emails filled with advice for your wedding day, Marci is your person!
Marci went even more above and beyond than one could imagine. On the day of our wedding, she was the only photographer, working with a videographer from another company, traveling to six different places (women/men’s separate getting ready areas, the church, the hall and two other personal locations) for pictures and stayed for nearly 10 hours—all while dealing with variety of dramatic, anxious and curious personalities of my very large family.
The end result was almost 3,500 photos that made it so hard to narrow down to post on social (which is a lot considering that my husband and I are self-conscious about getting photographed)!
And within the huge batch of photos, she made close to two dozen different backgrounds of our outside shots (versions requested by my mom) and added some spotlight glow behind my veil at the alter.
In other words, MARCI IS AWESOME! Thank you again!
Marci was amazing, and so fun to work with! My husband and I hate getting photos taken, but she made it so easy with her casual, candid style. We had her do our engagement photos a...
s a way to get to know her, and I highly recommend it, it makes things much more comfortable on the day of the wedding. She captured so many sweet moments of us, as well as our guests, and her attention to color, composition, and detail made for some really great photos. She knew how much I wanted autumn leaves in our pictures, but by November 21, there wasn't much left. With some homemade props and a little bit of color editing, she made it happen! She also has a super fast turnaround time, and you get ALL the images she takes. We will definitely use her for any future professional photography needs.

ok the buttons on my dress!). To be honest, when all was said and done, we felt that we got an insanely good deal for the amount (almost 2,000 proofs) and the outstanding quality of the pictures we got. We had countless comments from guests, family members and members of our wedding party specifically singling Marci out to say how amazing she was - these were people who have been to countless weddings and seen countless photographers, and they said Marci was truly outstanding. She has such a wonderful eye for millions of different shots in a small area and took such care to cement the memories of our day in gorgeous photos. We cannot recommend Marci enough!!
Marci was an absolute pro and we loved working with her from first call. She had a positive spirit and it was a constant throughout our entire day together. Not only was she a grea...
t photographer she was just a helpful person in general, helping my wife with her dress moving about, keeping a timer on her phone to help us manage a sunset shot, and even helping us give last minute directions to our bus driver. Marci is the type of personality you want to surround yourself with on what can be a very stressful day and she certainly helped keep things light and enjoyable. She eagerly took our suggestions and requests and captured everything we were looking for. Her turnaround time for final shots was shockingly quick.
Highly recommended!

Marci was extremely helpful creating a timeline beforehand, and day of she was extremely with little things, like bustling my dress! Hiring Marci to photograph my wedding was 100% the right decision; the photos she took are an absolute treasure to me and my family.

On our wedding day, she took the time to scope out some great shots for our bridal party and family photos yet also made sure we had plenty of time to enjoy spending time with our guests. We received a sneak leak within 5 days and ALL of our photos within 3 weeks. What I appreciated most was how she kept photos natural with minimal editing. I highly recommend her to anyone.
