Thank you so much to the staff at Marengo Spa for doing my hair and the bridal party hair the day of the wedding. It was so nice to wake up and have all of our beauty services within the Hyatt, the wedding venue. Monique provided wonderful communication from start to finish and everyone looked beautiful. Thank you for making my wedding day easy and gorgeous!
Ellie did my wedding hair and it could not have been more perfect! She did exactly what I was looking for, gave great tips during the trial (I have very thin hair and needed a little extra 'hair sponge'). I am so grateful for her! There's also a great set up in the Spa for bridesmaids to relax and wait their turn to get their hair done! Also can't beat the views - at the arcade.
Henri did my hair for my wedding reception in November. I made the appointment about two weeks out, and the spa worked well with my timeline to get me in and out quickly. I showered the day of and washed and dried my hair before the appointment. When I arrived for the appointment with my two girlfriends, we were quickly seated and Henri got to work. I showed him a picture and described what I wanted, and my hair turned out perfectly and didn’t budge through the night, and I slept with it in as well and it was still gorgeous in the morning. I was so happy with how my hair looked and felt, and especially happy with the price point of the services! I would highly recommend this spa for beauty services if you are getting married in the Cleveland area. It was super convenient for me because our reception was across the street at House of Blues, and we stayed in the Hyatt at The Arcade.
Marengo Luxury Spa is the ideal salon to go to if your wedding is in the Old Arcade. I don't know why anyone would hire an outside company to come in and do hair and makeup when they're right there. They gave us 25% off every wedding-related visit leading up to the wedding since we were having the wedding at the Arcade, which was awesome. All of the staff were so helpful and kind, from figuring out how long our appointments should be near/on the wedding day to my hair and makeup trials to recommending facials and them actually working! They also always call to remind you of upcoming appointments, which is nice. They also give you a discount on valet parking. We did so much prepping for the wedding with them that by the time the big day rolled around, they felt like family to us and were all excited and happy for us, wanted to see our dressed and bouquets, and kept complimenting us. We had suck luck with them that I found a new nail technician I will religiously go to (my shellac mani lasted 6 weeks!! - a major record in my book), one of my bridesmaids and my mom found their new hairdressers, and we all bought the lip gloss/stick they used on us for our wedding makeup, and it's one of our absolute favorites now. Overall, I would definitely recommend using Marengo for all your wedding and non-wedding salon needs!
I had much of my wedding party get their hair, makeup, and nails done here. We had no problems. Olga did my makeup and she was very attentive and caring. She did a good job, though during my makeup trial, she selected a lip liner/gloss I absolutely hated (I wanted simple light pink matte, she chose a glossy beige). I gently told her I didn't like it, but in the end I chose to go out and buy my own day of lipstick so I wouldn't risk it with her choice.
They are conveniently placed in the Hyatt Arcade, where I had my wedding. They also were able to squeeze me in for a last minute nail appointment the morning of my wedding (I didn’t plan very well).
I give them 4 stars only because their prices were a little high for me not getting a free makeup trial. I have heard that other wedding salons will give you a free hair or makeup trial when you’re the bride booking for your big day. But that’s not in Marengo’s policy, so I felt a little disappointed that I had to pay twice.
Loved working with the Marengo team! I booked appointments at Marengo for wedding hair & make-up for myself and my bridal party and am so happy I did. First, they are one of the only full service salons in downtown Cleveland, which very convenient for my bridal party, as we were all staying in the area. Working with the team (esp Monique) beforehand was so easy - she helped me add a few last minute appointments and gave us guidance on where we could have a light breakfast delivered to our group the morning of. The relaxation room, where we set-up, was super cozy and well stocked with coffee, tea and snacks. I loved both my hair and my make-up. I showed Henri a few ideas at my trial, as well as photos of my dress, and he was able to give some guidance and create an amazing up-d0. He also helped re-shape my hair accessories to better fit my hairstyle and personal style. Shameka did an amazing job on my make-up as well. I came in wanting something completely different than what we had done in my trial, and she nailed the look after studying a few sample pictures I had pulled together for her. Everyone in my group loved their hair and make-up. I would highly recommend Marengo to anyone looking for event stylists!
We used Marengo Spa since we were getting married in the Arcade. It was nice to be able to walk downstairs and be at your appointments. Working with the manager ahead of time was easy and everything was set up smoothly. Overall everything went well and I loved how I ended up looking. My hair was fantastic - no complaints! My makeup was done by a different stylist than my trial since the gal from my trial had a family emergency. I was offered another trial but it was the day before the wedding so it wasn't feasible. Unfortunately the gal who did do my makeup (Olga) did not do a great job and didn't seem to understand the instructions the trial stylist had written down. I was pretty upset after getting my makeup done but many of the other stylists were willing to help and figure out how it could be fixed for me. In the end I did end up liking my makeup but I had to tell the stylist several corrections to get to that point. The only other complaint was about another patron who was there that morning. She was very nasty to myself, my bridesmaids and my photographer because she didn't like them standing near me as it was "in her space". It would be nice if there was a more separate area for the bride to be since her bridal party/parents/photographer/etc probably want to see the progress and check in every so often. This patron made me cry, unfortunately. Overall, though, I was in love with how I looked - just wish it had been a little more of a stress free experience.
Marengo Spa was extremely convenient for our wedding at the Hyatt Regency @ The Arcade. Monique was very responsive and great to work with during the planning process. The spa was very accommodating of my entire bridal party getting both hair and make up done, and the hospitality room where we had breakfast and mimosas set up was a great amenity. All of my bridesmaids were done in a timely fashion and looked BEAUTIFUL! And, I absolutely LOVED Henri and my bridal hairstyle. The trial and final style were exactly what I’d envisioned and he even helped pick my final accessories (hair pin, coordinating jewelry). Henri was WONDERFUL. My only issue was with the overall length of time it took for my hair and make up, and I think it was mostly the make up that ran over. My bridal party all went upstairs to change at least a half an hour before I was done, and I was late for my photographer’s timeslot for putting on my dress and missed the opportunity to get photographs with my bridesmaids in our ‘getting ready’ robes. This was the only stressful and unfortunately part of my experience with Marengo. Everything else was great!
They did my hair, makeup, mani and pedi, while I sat back and relaxed (and drank champagne!) Great service and they do beautiful work.
I got my hair and make up done at Marengo Spa for my wedding day. I felt beautiful! Henri did a great job on my hair. My make up artist also did a great job! My hair and make up stayed put all day/night! My bridal party and mom also got there hair done with great results.
I originally booked my bridal updo with Marengo since we were getting married at the Cleveland Hyatt Arcade and it made the most sense to use them since they're located in the Arcade. However, since they charge $125 for a bridal updo, and that DOESN'T include a trial run or tip, I chose to get my hair done elsewhere. My bridal party did get their hair done at Marengo since it was $55 and up for them, but as the bride, you're not given the option of who your stylist is-- it's just an automatic charge of $125. Waaay too expensive, if you ask me. I ended up using Lucia's Salon in Hudson which was $99 and included a trial and tip.
However, Marengo did do my airbrush makeup which turned out fantastic!
Perfectionist at his best.
LOVED my hair, which was done by Henri the day of my wedding, which was being held in the Hyatt Arcade. He did a GREAT job interpreting what I wanted, and I felt very trusting of him. In fact, I was really the only person in the wedding party WITHOUT a picture of a hairstyle I wanted. I was able to tell him, "Kind of '30's pin-up, Sailor Jerry look), and he got it immediately. He was also calm and nice to be around on my wedding day, and kept me laughing.
The makeup artist I had was really awesome too. She gave me sultry, smoky purple eyeshadow while somehow not making me look too made-up or out of my element. Did a great job with the other bridesmaids too.
Two things were totally awful for others though - the appointment times (or lack thereof), and the hair styling they received from one particular stylist. The appointment times screw-ups were kind of a fiasco. Since we had a big wedding party from all over the country, I blocked off the time on the wedding day for everyone to get hair, nails, and makeup, then asked them to call to cancel the things they weren't going to use. Unfortunately, the salon never actually wrote down or otherwise recorded which members of the party had done so, a fact I realized the day before when they told me my bridesmaid with waist-length dreadlocks had made an appointment for a wash and style. Uh....not likely. That aspect was REALLY frustrating. So I had to try to figure out who was actually getting their hair/nails/makeup done, and what time they wanted, etc, about 12 hrs before the wedding. This ended up in me canceling some appts for people who wanted full treatment, and keeping appts for the wrong people. I was just too busy to get this right by myself, which is why they had called the spa in the first place. Several people ended up not being able to fit in the proper appts, and therefore went without services they wanted. In the future, I suggest you make SURE Monique and the others you speak to by phone will WRITE DOWN who is actually supposed to receive which service. Or just write it down yourself and make the appts (but that kind of defeats the purpose of a full-service, expensive salon, which should reduce your stress).
Secondly, the service received from one heavier woman with dark hair and a Jersey accent was AWFUL, according to several of the moms. They obviously funneled all of the moms towards her, who then proceeded to give them helmet-hair and identical looks. When she burned my step MIL's head very badly (she had to use cortisone for several days after) with a straightening iron, she said, "Oh, I burned you," instead of apologizing. Nearly every one of the moms was truly and completely unhappy with her service, which makes me quite ashamed even though I didn't hear about it until weeks after.
Overall, I'm very happy with the nail, makeup, and hair services I received there, and most others liked their services. I'd stay clear of the Jersey lady, and make SURE everyone's appts are accurately recorded.
