I got my gorgeous wedding gown from Maria's and I have received endless compliments on how beautiful it was. Kelly is the best to work with, especially for such an important aspect of your wedding. The alterations also came out perfectly! I highly recommend Maria of Italy for anyone looking for their wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl, etc.
I wish that I could leave less than 1 star. Unless you want to be body shamed, steer clear of this salon. I went as a bridesmaid to see a now ex friend find her wedding dress. After the appointment ended, we were able to look around for bridesmaids dresses. A few girls tried on dresses, myself being one of them, and the bridal attendant had the nerve to tell me that I need to buy something to alter my body shape as it was not flattering on me. As a woman to woman, do not ever tell someone that they need to alter themselves to fit into a dress. How dare you. The dress was already hideous and unflattering in the first place but you made me feel horrible about myself even though I had already lost 30 pounds. I am now looking around at bridal salons to buy myself a gown and I certainly will never step foot in this salon and I suggest you don't either.
These Girls are the best!!!!! I simply can't say enough about Maria of Italy! Getting my dress there was such a wonderful and personal experience. They truly care that you get something you love, and don't pressure you into purchasing anything you don't want. Kelly and Christina took their time and helped me find a dress that completely flatters me. I absolutely LOVE my dress!!! The dresses they carry are all absolutely stunning, and nothing is outrageously priced so I was very comfortable shopping there. It's so amazing to have such a personal relationship with the women that work there. I don't feel like just a other number in some factory bridal store. They get to know you and remember you and are always the most helpful, and they do such an amazing job! I recommend this place to EVERYONE!!! I wouldn't waste my time going anywhere else :)
Chris and Kelly deserve a million stars!! I cannot express how truly grateful I am to the both of them for all they did for me throughout the gown shopping process. It all started with a terrible experience at another bridal salon, I called Kelly and Chris, and they told me to come right over. I had the salon to myself, they had champagne opened, and were so great in listening and finding exactly what I wanted in a dress. I was a bride in the process of loosing a lot of weight, and they were confident that they would be able to make EVERYTHING work. Which they did! This is where the magic happened. I had everything purchased and ready for the big day, but to my surprise, I lost TOO much weight for my original dress to be altered properly. SO, with a few months until the wedding, we were on the search for a NEW dress. Kelly didnt hesitate one bit and had perfect dresses picked for me the day I walked in. The dress I ended up with did not zipper, but I told Kelly I would fit into it come wedding day. We planned to put a corset into the dress and go from there. Come the 1st fitting, we were all astonished that the dress was big on me! Kelly had to take it in yet again, and make basically a customized dress for me. At that time, they EVEN got my mother a new dress with 4 weeks to the wedding day!...SO IMPRESSED!!! On my wedding day, there was not a dry eye, and I truly was wearing my DREAM dress. I cannot say enough about Kelly and Christina and how much they truly understand their brides, and what they want. The put the utmost care and hard work into everything they do just to be sure your day is PERFECT! If I could do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat! Love those ladies and highly recommend them to any bride, bridesmaids, and mothers of the bride or groom!!! Kelly and Chris, I will never forget what you ladies did for me, and it truly made my wedding that much more memorable!!!
Maria of Italy is the bridal boutique where I got my wedding dress. I cannot say enough how amazing Kelly, the owner, is! I went looking for a dress just a few months prior to the big day and Kelly did a great job of helping me find a dress that I felt amazing in. While this is a smaller bridal boutique, Maria of Italy still has a great selection of dresses to chose from. The dress I ended up choosing was a discontinued dress and Kelly gave me a great deal on it! Not much work needed to be done to my dress aside from a hem and a few adjustments up top, but I did want to add some "bling" to it and Kelly was more than happy to provide me with the different options. Where I was in a short time frame, the alterations and additions to my dress needed to be done rather quick and Kelly did an amazing job in such little time. When I originally purchased my dress, Maria of Italy had a special going on where you could pick a heart out of a bowl and on each heart was a special deal. I picked one that said "buy one, get one half off accessories" so I was able to purchase my veil and a hair piece from Maria of Italy as well. While I was unable to work it out in my schedule, Kelly's sister owns the hair salon in the same building and she offers a free hair trial for those who purchase their wedding dress through Maria's. This is definitely something to take advantage of if you can! This bridal boutique is located in downtown Plymouth and while the parking situation is difficult, it is very much worth the walk from where to find a place to park to the shop. I will definitely be recommending this place to my friends as they get engaged!
I cannot say enough about Kelly - she was absolutely amazing! I brought in a dress purchased from another bridal salon and she did a truly wonderful job on the alterations and was priced very fairly. I was so impressed, I brought my dress back for cleaning and have brought all of my bridesmaids dresses to her for alterations. Definitely recommend!
I came here initially to try on wedding dresses and didn’t find anything I liked but thought Kelly was so sweet so I decided that I would bring my dress here to get altered instead. I could not have made a worse mistake. I am not one to post negative reviews but I just felt like I had to so I could warn other brides before they decided to come here for alterations. I had to find a last minute tailor (the week of the 4th of July) and pay her $350 to fix my dress on top of the $300+ I paid Maria of Italy.
Kelly called me the day before my final dress fitting and asked to cancel the appointment because she had a personal matter--she asked if we could switch the appointment to the following week. I was a little uneasy about this because it only left me with a week before the wedding but agreed to it when she assured me that if any last minute alternations needed to be done she would do them within a day.
When I came to pick up my dress it didn’t even look finished. The cups were barely sewn in (one was hanging off), the wrong buttons were sewn onto the back, and the bottom was only tacked up--not professionally hemmed. I asked her to fix it and she agreed to have it ready by the next day. When I came to pick up the dress the following day, the new buttons were not even sewn on in a straight line, and the cups were still barely sewn in. I didn’t even bother with the hem because at that point I just wanted to get my dress out of there.
I spent all day (5 days before my wedding) calling around trying to find another tailor and finally found one that was willing to work over the weekend to help me. When I brought the dress in to her and tried it on she said “Who did this to your dress?!? This is horrible!!”. She said that not only did Kelly not hem it correctly (I found out it was also 3 inches too long in the front), but that when I leaned backwards I would have been flashing people, so she had to redo the whole top. She was floored that the cups hadn’t been sewn into the dress so she fixed that also. Kelly said she didn’t sew them in because they were $25 cups and I might want to re-use them (which I find ridiculous when we are talking about a $7000 dress). The new tailor also had to replace all of the buttons as the ones Kelly put on were more like beads and just looked horrible.
I was so sad because this was my dream dress and I felt like Kelly didn’t put any care or time into it at all. I would never want another bride to have the same experience.
Warning!! DO NOT get your dress altered here. I was under the impression that Kelly the seamstress knew what she was doing because she also owns the shop. I was very very wrong. I was left with a dress 3 days before my wedding that did not fit and the boobs were uneven and lumpy. The dresss was completely disfiguring! I had to buy a new dress off the rack from David's bridal the day before because no one could fix her terrible work in time. Do not go here!
I bought my wedding dress from Kelly and the team at Maria of Italy in Plymouth. My MOH's friend had purchased her dress there under the previous ownership. I am so glad I came here!! Kelly and her team are SO accommodating, very responsive and overall just a joy to work with. I can't tell you how many times I called those poor girls at the salon, and they were always SO sweet and helpful. My bridesmaids needed last minute alterations to their dresses, and Kelly agreed to help even though her own wedding was right around the corner. It felt like a good friend doing me a favor. I am SO SO happy I got my dress here!!! Thanks so much ladies!!
I went to Maria of Italy due to multiple recommendations from family members. I was surprised upon arrival that it had recently come under new management and was worried at first. In the end I was 100% satisfied with the decision to purchase my wedding dress here. Kelly was knowledgeable and accommodating. She managed to help me create the dress of my dreams while remaining in my budget. I found a dress I loved from the bust down but hated the straps. Upon a quick glance through a few bridal magazines we were able to find the perfect alterations to turn this dress into the one of my dreams. They were open and honest about cost and time frames and at no time tried to up sell or change my vision. I went back multiple times with different people and Kelly kept with my vision and helped me express my wishes in the face of any comments from others. The number of comments I received from complete strangers on the quality of my dress, as well as its uniqueness made me more than happy with every decision I made.
I brought my mother's wedding dress that she had made and worn to her own wedding, to Maria's to see if they could redesign it into a rehearsal dinner dress for me to wear for my wedding. Kelly, the owner, did an AMAZING job. She is so talented and passionate about her work and my dress came out so beautiful, my mother was so happy. I came to her with a few ideas and she came up with great designs. I couldn't have been happier with how it came out, I am still getting compliments on the dress.
And I was also having a hard time matching my wedding dress to a veil because it was champagne but Maria's ended up having one that matched perfectly!
My mother also bought her mother of the bride dress there and it was gorgeous and Kelly fit it to her beautifully.
The new girl who bought Maria's is amazing!!! Highly recommend!
I had a great experience at Maria's. I went there so often I have became friends with Kelly! My sisters, cousins and friends all went there for their alterations and we have since recommended Maria's to other people have had two other brides go there and love their experience. They are totally reasonable and Kelly is expanding her selection of wedding designers!
I fell in love with a dress in a magazine, and called around to bridal shops trying to find it. Maria of Italy was the only one willing to order it for me. They went out of their way to help me get my dream dress. I tried on a few others, but went with my original pick. The only downside is that this is a bridal boutique, so the dresses come at a price. They at least gave me a discount for purchasing the sample, even though they did get the sample just for me. My fittings were also a great experience, and the final fit was just right.
easy and very attentive.
Perhaps I'm partial because I'm Italian, but going to Maria's and seeing Luigi, Maria, and Kelly felt as comfortable as being home. They were so patient while I selected a dress -- and once I did and needed some alterations from the manufacturer, Luigi made sure it got done PERFECTLY for me. Once Maria finished final minimal alterations at the shop, the dress literally looked like it was made just for me. I could not have been any happier, and got countless comments at my wedding that my gown was breathtaking! They were honest (some might say blunt, but I'm not the type of person who is bothered by that) when I asked for opinions, and were very accessible in terms of returning calls, etc. We did have one hiccup when ordering my sister's maid of honor gown from them (the manufacturer sent her a sample dress that was dirty and had the word 'sample' stitched across the bottom), but Luigi made it right by basically giving us her gown for free. Highly, highly recommend this small, homey bridal salon for great service and value!
I got engaged last year and I was all over the place trying to figure out what type of dress I wanted. I am on the road for my job so I went to all types of Bridal stores in the area and I just couldnt find what I was looking for. I thought I wanted a certain dress but then i would try it on and I was completely wrong and I didnt understand why. I then drove by Maria of Italy right in Plymouth center and it was easy going from there. Right when I walked it they sat me down and went over types of dresses and styles and they even let me try a few on even though I had no appointment. They were so helpful and their bridal knowledge made me come back for another appointment. Needless to say I purchased my beautiful Casablanca dress from them and they tailored it to fit my body like a glove!!! Another think I would like to add is the wonderful customer service. I truly mean this from the bottom of my heart that Maria's really does care about their clients. I had a bridesmaids who purchases a dress earlier from a local store. When she purchased the dress she was about 7 months pregnant and was supposed to be due 12/10/12 and my wedding was 12/1/12. She infact went in to labor early and ended up have a baby girl 5 1/2 weeks early. A beautiful baby girl was here but the bridesmaid dress was about 12 times to big. Not only was it way to big, the dress didnt come in until Monday and the wedding was on saturday. With 5 days to go, Maria's staff took my bridesmaid in and worked so hard on her and very last minute...but they did and the dress came out beautifully. My bridesmaid was glowing, she was so happy to have a healthy baby and the dress was made perfectly. So if you need a dress for the big day or if you want to have the best tailoring jobs, Marias of Italy is the place for you!! Trust me you will be so happy you went there!
When I went to Maria of Italy, I had already been discouraged at a number of dress shops. Luigi helped me to find the perfect dress that fit my idea of my wedding completely. They were able to get my dress delivered in under 6 months, and the alterations were easy, and perfect. I used them for my bridesmaid and flower girl dresses, and were accommodating every step of the way. I would recommend Maria of Italy to everyone I know, because the quality and experience of going there was unlike any of the other shops that I went to.
First and only place I tried for my gown! I told them what I was picturing then he pulled gowns off the rack for me and I was in love with one I never would have picked for myself! I got so many compliments on the dress. They are awesome
First of all - Maria of Italy is now located on Court Street. Thanks to Luigi and Maria at Maria of Italy, I found the dress! It looks absolutely nothing like the dress I had imagined in my head, or even like any of the pictures that I had ripped out of bridal magazines, but it was completely perfect. In fact, it was pretty much the opposite of what I wanted. Don’t be fooled by the size of the shop, they have a great selection and Luigi is very good at what he does. At our first meeting he pulled a ton of dresses, some that I asked for and some that I didn’t ask for, and he was completely honest with me about which ones looked great, good, bad and terrible. When we narrowed it down to four, he waited patiently as I tried them each on a hundred times at our next visit. And when I finally chose her, he and Maria worked patiently with me through several (a lot) of appointments for alterations. Maria is so talented you can’t even tell that my dress was altered. My friends still talk about how amazing my dress was. They even worked with me to customize a veil. And their prices are so reasonable. I know the dress is important, but I just couldn’t imagine spending a ton of money on a dress I would wear for 10 hours. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw the price tag. They also have a great selection of bridesmaid dresses and offer a discount if you get the bridesmaid dresses there as well (both to the bride and the bridesmaids). Needless to say, they made finding all the dresses super easy and were a pleasure to work with. There is a lot of personality in that shop and it made every visit fun!
I stumbled upon Maria of Italy online while looking for veils (I already had a dress I had purchased online). I decided to stop and check it out with my future husband on the way back from our food tasting at our venue. There were tons of veils to pick from. While there I ended up falling in love with a dress that was on the mannequin. Stacey talked me into trying the dress on...so glad she did it was absolutely gorgeous! I had my "say yes to the dress" moment.I ended up finding a veil that matched my dress perfectly. I highly recommend this shop.I was surprised that the cost was lower but the quality was higher than David's Bridal. No matter what your budget is this place is worth looking into. Everyone was awesome. Luigi gave me his aunts number for alterations. I was able to wait until the last possible minute to get my alterations done. I am so glad I accidentally found this place my experience was awesome
Loved my wedding dress! Maria of Italy is a great little shop in the heart of downtown Plymouth. It's above a hair salon, but don't let that discourage you from going in. They have beautiful bride & bridal party dresses and an extensive collection. They're helpful and patient when you're shopping for "the dress", offering advice and assisting you along the way; not overly pushy at all. Very nice family owned and operated shop!
Luigi was WONDERFUL! Very helpful, friendly, and energetic. I LOVE my wedding dress. Maria did an amazing job on the bustle too. Their dresses were all beautiful and affordable!
I got my bridal gown and all my bridesmaids dresses at Maria's. My dress did look great - the alterations were well done, but the service left much to be desired. They were not upfront about the cost of alterations and I had to call multiple times before getting a call back. My sister asked 3 times for the cost of her alterations for her bridesmaid dress and they did not tell her how much it would be until after they were done. It ended up costing her twice as much as my other girls who took their dresses elsewhere for alterations. They were difficult to work with and made my experience more stressful than it needed to be.
Maria of Italy helped me find a beautiful wedding dress and Maria was a fantastic seamstress. The sales people are not afraid to give you an honest opinion which I really liked because it helped me pick a dress that fit me perfectly without getting overwhelmed with so many dresses to choose from. They had a lot of dresses between my $800-$1,200 price range so it was easy for me to find the perfect dress. I would definitely recommend this vendor.
I had a destination wedding in March 2012. At first, I didn't think I would be wearing a "real" wedding dress, but after making an appointment at Maria's of Italy, and explaining my destination wedding plans to Luigi, they brought out several options. The first dress I tried on was absolutely beautiful, but a bit too heavy for a tropical beach wedding. The second dress I tried on was made for me! I ended up buying a Casablanca 1986 from Maria's of Italy, and had it altered by Maria herself. Absolutely perfect and stunning! I LOVE my dress! I didn't even need to re-press it when I got to Mexico! Luigi & Maria made my dress-shopping experience stress-free.
I highly recommend Maria's of Italy. Small boutique with personal attention and service. They really know what they are doing! I said "Yes to the Dress" within 10 minutes of being there.
Luigi and maria were so helpful! ! They're so nice and they treat everyone like family...
I had a great experience and I found the perfect dress. There's a great selection and budget range
I lucked out with my dress. It was a sample, so it was on sale, and fit me perfectly! I didn't want to spend more than $500 on my dress & Maria of Italy had a TON of sample dresses, so I was able to find the perfect dress in my price range.
My sister got married last weekend. She got her dress from Maria of Italy's and I went to every appointment with her and let me just say that I was impressed! I've never been in a more accommodating bridal shop. From picking out her dress to alterations to her final fitting every just went perfect! As the wedding got closer and things started to get more stressful my sister would look forward to her fittings knowing that it was going to be easy and with no complications. I would usually have to pull her out of there after a hour of hanging around talking! Love love love this bridal shop!
I LOVED MY DRESS FROM HERE! Prices range from like $600 to $1800 and most of the other Boston dress stores are SO much more expensive for the SAME dresses. Check this place out.
LOVE this salon! Recommend to all my friends, so friendly, kind and a pleasure to work with. Maria makes you feel like you're her only bride, and Luigi is so fun to be around! Am going to miss them!
great selection, attentive staff and fantastic seamstress.
They really worked hard to make sure the dress fit the way it was supposed to. They really put a lot of hard work and love into their jobs.;They can be a bit too honest with their observations on body issues.
They were great and would buy another dress from them. They knew everything that I needed. They were very helpful with any questions even after the wedding.
I went to David's Bridal. I loved my dress and it fit like a glove. I got to take it home that day. It was inexpensive yet beautiful. I got many compliments.;It is like a fast food chain of dress shops. In and out - many people there.
They were very quick to answer questions and concerns
