Mariachi Nueva Tradicion SD

Born in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico and raised in San Diego, Victor Viberos is a professional mariachi musician and founder and musical director of Mariachi Nueva Tradicion SD, one of San Diego’s elite mariachi ensembles. Viberos started his mariachi education back in 2008 at San Ysidro High School where he developed a love and passion for mariachi music and learned how to sing and play vihuela and guitar under Mrs. Wendy Charines. His studies continued under Mark Fogelquist from 2012 through 2015 at SDSU’s mariachi class where he continued to develop his voice and armonia playing. Starting in 2016, Viberos joined Mariachi Real de San Diego, the group with the longest trajectory in San Diego to learn how to play guitarron and trumpet under the leadership of Pedro Gonzalez. The same year he joined Mariachi Real de San Diego, Viberos joined the mariachi class at Southwestern College under the instruction of Dr. Jeff Nevin. In 2020, Viberos graduated from SDSU’s School of Music and Dance with a bachelor’s in music, with an emphasis is voice and founded Mariachi Nueva Tradicion SD. In 2023, Viberos received his master’s in education from National University and is currently a music teacher at Chula Vista Middle School at the School of Creative and Performing Arts program where he teaches guitar. Viberos looks forward to performing and teaching all over the world to share his love for mariachi music with everyone!
