I was very happy with the quality and taste of the cake. What I was not happy about was the service they privided. Could definitely improve on their customer service skills. I would buy from them again, but perhaps not for a wedding.
We ordered our cake through the Chapel and it turned out it was from Marie's. This cake was the best cake I have ever tasted. We had white cake with amaretto cream and buttercream frosting. So light, moist, and extremely tasty. We will be going back for an anniversary cake!
We chose to get our wedding cake from Marie's Gourmet Bakery at the recommendation of the restaurant. We dealt with Todd, which we later found was a huge mistake. He really didn't listen to anything we asked, and when we showed him pictures of several Eiffel Tower cakes we wanted, he kept trying to push us to one that he had done before which wasn't anywhere near as pretty. We really didn't want fondant, but he strongly recommended it and said that he uses this really great (and expensive) fondant that tastes much better, and he uses only a very thin layer. We deferred to his judgement on both counts, which we later regretted. As it turned out, the cake had a VERY thick layer of fondant which was completely inedible. We had picked a chocolate mousse layer, a tiramisu layer, and a vanilla with strawberry layer at our tasting session. The largest, the chocolate mousse layer, was NOTHING like we had tasted. It was overly sweet and just mush. Nobody ate it. The tiramisu layer just wasn't what we had tasted; it was nothing more than a plain white cake with what tasted like hazelnut sauce poured on it - NOT anything like the tiramisu would had tried at the tasting. On top of that, Todd kept trying to sell us OTHER services, like limo service. We were going to use him and actually paid up front for the service but had to cancel when we found that despite us having discussed multiple times that we wanted LIMO buses with seating along the sides, he had booked SHUTTLE buses (at the much more expensive LIMO bus prices, I might add). Stay away from Todd!!!
My cake was a 3 tier red fondant cake with black lace around the base of each tier. Inside was red velvet. Best red velvet cake I have ever had! I had so many compliments! Kind of expensive, but worth it. $400. Use this vendor!!!!
Our cake was wonderful! It was so moist and flavorful and and they worked with us on every option to make sure we had the cake we wanted for our reception. I would recommend this bakery to anyone!
We got a three tiered cake from Marie's. I saw it for the first time when I walked in to our dinner, and I was SO pleased. We had picked it out over the internet, using their photo gallery and changing the colors of one of the cakes we liked best. (Not THE best, though...we got a quote for that and decided it was way too much. We went for a simpler one with stripes and polka dots). It looked amazing. We brought our own topper.
The only problem: They messed up the filling. One layer was supposed to be vanilla chiffon with strawberry filling. No strawberries! I was a little miffed we did not get a discount for that--it said right on the order form to add the strawberries.
Another layer was supposed to be amaretto orange, and my husband claims that it was not--he couldn't taste any orange. But I thought that layer was delicious, whether it was plain amaretto or amaretto orange. We also had a chocolate layer that came out just right.
I would absolutely recommend this bakery without reservation, particularly if you value mainly the aesthetics (and not just the taste) of the cake.
