We paid $1,800 in full for this photographer to capture our wedding, and unfortunately I cannot recommend her.
At first, she seemed great — easygoing, friendly, and made us feel co...
mfortable during both our engagement shoot and on the wedding day. But everything fell apart when it came to communication, professionalism, and actually delivering what we paid for.
Engagement Photos
She verbally promised we’d have them by Jan 24. That deadline passed with nothing. On Feb 3, after I reached out, she said they’d be ready “today.” Another follow-up on Feb 9 got no response. Finally, on Feb 12, we received the gallery. Along with the link came the first mention of her “rules”: restrictions on editing, tagging her on all social media, and only 7 days to request adjustments before being charged extra. The edits were underwhelming, and we had already had to chase her down just to get them.
Wedding Photos
After our wedding (May 28), I heard nothing for two months, even after checking in kindly. On Aug 2 (66 days post-wedding), I left a Google review out of frustration. Only then did she respond, not with an update but with long, sad, personal messages that felt manipulative. I did not respond.
On Aug 4, she followed with several aggressive messages directed at me — still without delivering photos.
By September (Day 101 post-wedding), I requested my signed contract for the third time. Although I had signed it in January, I never received a copy. She refused, said she “didn’t have them anymore,” and told me she wouldn’t work with me because of my review. That exchange also became aggressive. While gathering evidence for legal action, I clicked our old engagement gallery link — and that’s how I discovered our wedding photos had been uploaded, but she never notified us or shared the link.
The Photos
They’re okay. A handful are nice, but many are unflattering. I’ll be editing them myself despite her “rules” threatening to revoke my license if I alter my own wedding pictures. Those restrictions are unprofessional and unreasonable.
Payments
All payments were redirected away from her booking system and funneled through Venmo/Zelle/Apple Pay. Every payment went to a personal Venmo account labeled “Marissa-simon-photography.” This is unprofessional and against Venmo’s terms of service.
Overall
-Promised deadlines repeatedly missed.
-Engagement photos delayed, only delivered after multiple follow-ups.
-Hidden “rules” restricting use of my own photos, revealed only after delivery.
-Zero communication about wedding photos for two months.
-Inappropriate, manipulative, and aggressive responses to my review.
-Refusal to provide a signed contract.
-Retaliation — refusing service because I left a review.
-Wedding gallery uploaded but never delivered to us.
-Payments processed through personal accounts.
Although photos eventually surfaced, the lack of professionalism, communication, transparency, and basic respect made this a stressful, awful experience.
Future couples: please protect yourselves — do not risk your memories or money with this photographer. See my Google review for more details and an example of the quality of photos that were delivered.
