About this vendor
Hi, Mark here!
I've been a documentary wedding photographer for 20 years, which is a fancy way of saying I show up, I take candid photos, and I let your day be your day.
No stiff poses. No coached laughs. No cringe wedding party shots. Most of the day I won't direct you at all, because the best moments aren't the ones I set up. They're the ones I catch: your fiancé forgetting his vows, your mom grabbing your dad's hand during the ring exchange, your flower girl spinning in circles during cocktail hour.
I'm based in Sarasota and shoot weddings across the Gulf Coast and beyond. My work has been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings and Brides, and I've been recognized as a Top 100 Wedding Photographer by the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA).
I love a good story. I really love a packed dance floor. And I figured out somewhere over the last two decades that the best way to capture both is to get out of the way.
If you'd rather celebrate your day than choreograph it, let's talk.

As a wedding professional, I've worked alongside Mark Davidson at countless weddings and when it came to my own wedding, I knew without a doubt that I wanted Mark to capture it. ...
We actually selected our wedding date based on Mark's availability - we just couldn't imagine anyone but Mark being there to document the day! We were so honored that Mark was able to join us for our wedding weekend in Pennsylvania.
Mark's talent is obvious - and shines through in any of his photographs. He is truly a master of his craft. Mark's ability to capture the most intimate of moments, artfully frame the most stunning of photographs, and his mastery of light make him one of the most talented photographers I've had the privilege to work with professionally - and now personally. Mark has this incredible ability to capture indoor photographs in way I have seen few other photographers do. He's able to bring that same natural, lit-from-within-glow to his indoor photography, and do so effortlessly. Much of our wedding took place indoors (and even more than we originally planned as it ended up raining!) but Mark blew us away with the photographs and the quality of light he was able to capture. I know few other photographers would have been able to do what he did.
What you may not be able to tell is the kind of person Mark Davidson is. He is an utmost professional and widely respected among the Boston wedding community and beyond. But Mark is also a funny, genuine person and caring friend. Mark blended in seamlessly with our wedding guests and his calming, easy-going presence was a cherished part of our wedding weekend.
Mark gave us the greatest gift in being our wedding photographer and we are so grateful for the stunning photographs he created. Thank you Mark, for everything! We are forever grateful to you!
Mark was wonderful to work with from start to finish for our wedding in Boston this September. He was easygoing, professional, and incredibly easy to communicate with throughout th...
e entire wedding planning process, which made everything feel effortless.
On the wedding day, Mark did an amazing job capturing our wedding as it was actually happening. Not just the posed moments and group shots we asked for, but the emotions, reactions, little details, and candid moments that made the day uniquely ours. Looking through our photos feels like getting to relive the wedding all over again. He captured not only what the day looked like, but what it felt like, and we are so grateful to have those memories preserved so beautifully.
Working with Mark was one of the best decisions we made throughout the wedding planning process. My husband and I are both not big on having our picture taken, and Mark seamlessly ...
fell into the background the whole day, allowing us to actually enjoy the special moments.
Despite being so discrete, Mark got shots of every single thing we wanted as well as a number of fantastic documentary style pictures of those candid moments throughout the day. His work is absolutely gorgeous, and the turnaround time for getting the photos back was quick!
I cannot recommend Mark enough! Book him now for your wedding.
We would absolutely recommend booking Mark as your wedding photographer. He blended in so naturally throughout the day, yet somehow managed to be everywhere at once, capturing ever...
y detail and moment. We weren’t looking for many posed photos, and he did an amazing job getting the few combinations we wanted while documenting the rest of the day candidly, exactly what we hoped for. The pictures capture all of the emotion of the day, and there are some beautifully framed artistic shots as well. We are so glad we chose Mark as our photographer!
Mark is an excellent photographer and we highly recommend working with him! His photography style is beautiful as you can see on his website, and he did not disappoint! He is reall...
y easy-going to work with and sent us photo previews of our album within 2.5 weeks after our wedding, he also included videos of our ceremony and speeches and short video clips throughout our day without added cost! It may be helpful to know when working with a documentary-style photographer that you may need to be more directive if you want specific shots or for moving your own timeline along. Mark serves more as a fly on the wall for whatever is happening rather than directing your day for the photos (this is how we wanted it to be, but may be good to know for future couples). We are thrilled and can't stop staring at our photos even 7 months later! We would absolutely love to work with Mark again in the future.
Mark photographed our wedding almost three years ago now and I still can't stop thinking about it + looking at the photographs!!!
Something that really resonated with me the day o...
f the wedding was that Mark was very much not trying to make pictures the big event. As someone who is very awkward in front of a camera (speaking for both myself and my husband), this means we have so many photos from our wedding day where we look happy, relaxed, and natural. Throughout the day, Mark was always in the background shooting moments as they happened rather than making everything into a pose. I understand this isn't everyone's prerogative, but if you are a little camera shy like us, I would definitely recommend Mark! So many of my favorite photos from the day are from these moments. We did have some posed group shots as well and we did make sure to mention these to him before + during the day, and these came out beautiful as well. Mark also took a lot of photos of the details + the setting, which we loved, and even surprised us with a short video after our wedding which we were not expecting at all! All in all we would hire Mark 10x over, one of our best vendor choices of the day. He was intentional in his work, extremely talented, and very funny.
Sorry for the late review, hopefully this falls into the better late than never category! Thank you Mark for giving us such a beautiful keepsake from our day, we love the photos so much.
BOOK MARK FOR YOUR WEDDING!! I don't even know where to begin. Mark was beyond easygoing and a joy to work with. He captured our day so beautifully. From the family photos, to the ...
endless candids and little moments he shot without us even realizing he was there, it was a dream. As a couple who isn't into super posed/glamour shots, Mark was perfect. He took the few posed photos we wanted and then the rest was his artistry! Truly spectacular photographer and we will cherish the photos forever!
Mark was easy to work with and took beautiful photos of our wedding. He excels at taking candid photos that capture subtle moments and the essence of the wedding. Unfortunately bec...
ause our ceremony was outside and it was getting ready to rain afterward, our family photos got rushed which meant that we did not get all of the different combinations we had wanted. There were a few instances where someone's face was covered up or there were other visually distracting details I wish Mark had caught, and the order of photos was a bit disorganized which meant that some people had to come back out and leave for different photos, including my dad who's in a wheelchair. I appreciated that Mark offered to take a photo of my siblings and I after the reception since we had not gotten to take a photo together earlier. Also he was very good at blending in and still managing to get nice photos of our cake cutting, our first dance, and other moments without being in the way or distracting. Lastly, he was extremely fast and editing and sharing our photos with us: he shared previews within a week and all of our (hundreds of) photos within two weeks. Overall if you are looking for a photographer who takes candid natural photos that capture the essence of the moment, we recommend Mark!
We used Mark for our wedding day photography and he did such an amazing job! I love the photo style he uses - that was the main reason I chose him (despite being a bit outside of o...
ur budget). We also connected really well during the phone interview. We had him for 5 hours and he got so many awesome candid shots of everyone having fun! He also got lovely shots of the venue and decor. He sent me sneak peaks 2 weeks after the wedding, and the remaining photos were sent a month after the wedding. I’d definitely recommend him to any of my friends if they were looking for a wedding photographer!
We chose Mark as our photographer because we loved his photo-journalist approach to the day. We were initially impressed by the candid photos to capture the authenticity of the day...
and vibrancy of the photos that truly make you feel like you were there.
Since the wedding, we keep coming back to how happy we were to work with Mark. We actually hired Mark to capture two days of photos: our small, intimate church wedding, and then our big celebration the week after. Mark was super easy-going and accommodating to capturing our day the way we envisioned it.
Mark was able to capture not only all of the photos we wanted, but all of the little moments in between that we were and even were not a part of. I think the best compliment I can give, especially for this style of photography, is that I was so unaware of where he was while we were on the dance floor. I was concerned that I was going to be self-conscious with photos being taken all night, but I was able to just live in the moment and completely enjoy every second of the party, only to then realize that I get to relive it all through the photos in a genuine and authentic way.
We can't recommend Mark enough!
We are so pleased that we picked Mark to be our photographer at our July 2024 wedding at the Beauport Hotel in Gloucester. His calm demeanor, experience with the venue, and candid ...
photography style allowed us to relax and trust that he was going to do an awesome job - which he did! All of his pictures represented the fun that we had during the day and the genuine emotion of our loved ones. Throughout the planning process, Mark was responsive and helped ensure our vision for our photographs and wedding day came to life. We highly recommend Mark to photograph your wedding!

ight hiccup with the link!
My now husband is not a fan of being photographed, but remarked at how quickly Mark worked to complete our family and couples portraits so that we could get back to the party! Additionally, after looking at the photos he sent over, we were amazed at all of the photos he got, especially during the ceremony, as neither one of us had any idea he was bouncing around so much, as we didn't even notice!
Mark's style captured us just as we had hoped, with non-stuffy, fun, natural photos! We are thrilled!
We absolutely LOVE our wedding day photos shot by Mark at our wedding in November and can’t recommend him enough!!! Mark was so great to work with from the start. He made the time ...
to talk with us early on, continued to be available to meet by phone as needed, and was responsive to texts during the planning process. When we wanted a 2nd shooter he brought along Krista, whose work matched the caliber and quality of Mark’s photographic style. On the day of the wedding he and Krista were a calming and quiet presence, capturing the authenticity of our emotions throughout the day. My husband and I aren’t the best at posed photos and with Mark’s photo journalism approach we feel like models look at the gallery! Mark captures big picture shots well, while having a keen eye for the intimate moments and details. Mark was also very flexible when we needed to extend his time on the day of the wedding since events ran later than we anticipated. Our wedding photos continue to bring us so much joy and we could not be happier that we hired Mark to capture our day!
Mark was a calming presence on a crazy wedding day. He capture everything exactly how I wanted. Natural but professional is how I describe his photos, and I am so happy with how ev...

ving them around. He also sent the gallery over quickly!
If you are looking for a photographer who will respond to your every email promptly, Mark is probably not your guy. However, the photos are amazing and we are very happy with our choice! Also, he does not do engagement shoots but did recommend a different photographer (Mikhail Glabets) who was awesome too.
We loved having Mark (and his second shooter, Dustin) photograph our recent October 2023 wedding. He was so calm and easy to work with, and we loved his journalistic style that bea...

I can't say enough good things about Mark. He was the best thing about the wedding.. other than actually getting married. I found him on the knot and loved the authenticity of his ...
photos. He is so laid back and easy to work with. He delivered our photos so fast and I am obsessed with every single photo. He captured our day so perfectly from start to end. I can't thank him enough for helping us preserve the memories of such an important day.
We hired Mark Davidson for our Labor Day Weekend 2022 wedding at Misselwood in Beverly, Mass.
Mark did a really nice job with our wedding. He came prepared and his experience was ...
evident from the start. His assistant, Dustin, was also very easy to work with and did a great job.
Our photos looked great and everything was delivered in a timely fashion after the event.
Overall, we enjoyed working with Mark and Dustin and wouldn't hesitate to do so again.

ly easy to work with. Both my wife and I are camera shy but Mark did an excellent job making us feel comfortable. He was great about getting not only the couple portraits that we wanted and group shots, but he also was always there to take group shots during the cocktail hour and reception (even offering to take photos both his camera and people's cell phones).

hat we wanted. On the day of the wedding he made sure we got every picture we had told him we wanted. He captured all of the moments and even moments we didn't even know were happening. His candid pictures are fantastic and photos we will cherish for life.

e is very efficient with the group photos as well as the typical couple photos, which is exactly what we wanted, so we could actually enjoy our wedding. It is amazing to me how we barely noticed his presence during the ceremony/reception and yet the photos are so intimate. His style of candid photos was so authentic and I will also say he did an exceptional job getting pictures of all of our wedding guests which was important to me. Overall the photos came out stunning- my family and I are obsessed to say the least. I highly highly recommend hiring Mark for any event but especially your wedding.
So grateful to have found Mark and have him shoot our wedding. He knew our venue so well (the Red Lion Inn) and was super efficient, but also flexible. One of our junior bridesmaid...
s brought a camera and was running around taking photos, and he artfully worked around her, and even gave her a few tips - he honestly felt like a guest. So eager to see his final product! I would recommend or re-hire Mark in a second.

s a JOY to work with, from our first phone call to him arriving and saying hello, to him always somehow popping up exactly when I needed him and then seeming to disappear like a ghost whenever I did not need him, yet he was still there, capturing every moment. He is such a warm, friendly, nice person, you feel like you've known him all your life when he arrives! He and his second photographer were on top of all of the shots we wanted and confirmed with us multiple times that we'd gotten all the shots we needed. Genuinely a wonderful person and I am so happy to have gotten to work with him!
Mark was amazing to work with. He was super personable and down-to-earth, which made the engagement shoot and formal wedding portraits feel comfortable and natural. He gave us grea...
t direction and recommendations for where to set the photo background. He also had great advice for planning wedding day timeline. On the actual wedding day several of my bridesmaids commented on how organized and smooth the photo session was. He was efficient but got all the pictures I requested oh my checklist and also made sure we were on time to each event!
His pricing was very reasonable compared to other photographers.
If you’re planning a New England wedding, I highly recommend Mark.
You can clearly see on Mark's website how amazing his photography is, but what isn't as obvious is his day-of approach- he made us feel extremely comfortable during both our engage...
ment and wedding photos which made the more formal takes that much easier. He is the utmost professional, blends in when he needs to and as a bonus he had good existing working relationships with both our DJ and venue. Would definitely recommend him for your wedding- couldn't have asked for better!
We are so happy with our decision to hire Mark to photograph our wedding. He was communicative, professional, and very understanding about needing to reschedule our wedding due to ...
Covid. He remained consistently in contact with us during the whole process. On our wedding day he was very easy going and guided us through all the formal family photos with ease. He captured so many wonderful candids too. Our guests are still raving about the photos. We absolutely recommend Mark for your photographing your special day!
We are so glad we chose Mark to photograph our wedding! He was super low key and made everyone comfortable - which isn’t always easy when cameras are around. We opted to have Mark ...
bring a second photographer, and Dustin was just as great. The two of them worked seamlessly together. We just got our photos back and could not be happier. They are amazing! Mark was able to capture so many great moments and we will treasure our photos forever.
I would absolutely recommend Mark to anyone.

1 and that photographer had some personal issue such that she couldn't cover our wedding.
I found Mark online and what I loved about his work was he was able to capture the feeling and mood of the wedding. We did not hire a videographer but hiring Mark is 2-for-1. Every photo really captured our wedding vibe and our family dynamic.
I also hired Mark for our cultural ceremony two days ahead (Henna) for a few hours. I am happy I did that because he was able to capture the essence of that ceremony as well and we had beautiful photos from there.
I highly recommend Mark and definitely recommend checking out his website for his photo portfolio. He does an excellent job of doing a storytelling approach to photography.

em. He recommended florists and verified my venue choice. My biggest apprehension was having a photographer who won’t be able to capture the culturally important moments of our Pakistani wedding. Mark did every moment justice. I’m so glad we could work with Mark Davidson. His style aligned with ours. We couldn’t be happier.
Mark Davidson so beautifully captured our wedding and was such a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process. From our initial conversation to the day of our event, he wa...
s incredibly attentive to what we were hoping to have captured and executed our vision perfectly. He has such an artistic eye, capturing the “big” and “little” moments with such liveliness that, in looking at our album, we feel like we’re celebrating our wedding all over again. Mark is responsive, personable and comfortable to be around, which showed through in how natural our photos appear. We are so lucky to have worked with Mark and to have such special photos to remember our special day by.

ur special day. The photos look really natural and effortless--both the candid shots and the posed photos. He also made my husband and I feel super comfortable in front of the camera, which was key since I am the self-proclaimed queen of awkwardness. We are thrilled to have worked with him, and would recommend him to anyone!

y answered all of out questions. We had a blast on our wedding day, it was a Minimony at the Copley Fairmont during COVID, and we had the whole place to ourselves. Mark is very familiar with the Fairmont, so we went to all the different ballrooms and hallways to take photos. He did a great mix of formal and informal photos and was easygoing and fun to work with. The photos were available within a few weeks and they are GORGEOUS. We could not be happier with them. And his rates are very reasonable. We highly recommend Mark!!

e very beginning, he was amazing to work with. He responded quickly to our inquiry about his services and chatted with us over the phone within a few days to get more information on what we were looking for. He checked in throughout the time between that call and the ceremony to make sure he understood our needs and that we felt comfortable. He even made sure his fee reflected our actual needs on the day as opposed to purely charging us based on the fact we were getting married. On our actual elopement day, he made us feel at ease. He was on time, kind, warm, and funny. It was like we had known him for years even though we had only met him in person on that day. We had flown to Boston to elope as just the two of us, so we were able to capitalize on our mobility to take pictures in several beautiful spots around the city as well as in our hotel. It was honestly a great time and will be a fond memory for years to come. I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with Mark, but will recommend him to any and all who are looking for a photographer in the Boston area. He is a consummate professional and made our special day that much more perfect.

erything, Mark was integral in brining our wedding vision to life. He was very flexible in adjusting his schedule and providing recommendations on services and locations to shoot to transition our South Carolina vision to Boston. He was very personable and easy going which made our wedding day go smooth and stress free. He worked with our videographer very well and was open for last minute adjustments and thoughts from our end. We highly recommend Mark for all photography needs! – Bethany and Tony
BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS! Mark was an amazing photographer, I knew by looking at his website he was the photographer I wanted for my wedding and I was not wrong. I notriously hate getting ...
photographed, but he really made me feel so comfortable the entire time. He also just was so amazing and catching the little moments throughout the wedding that I will treaure for years to come. I always believe its about the moments captured and not just the posed pictures, and he really captured many beautiful moments throughout the wedding!
We cannot rave enough about our experience with Mark, both on our wedding day and throughout our wedding planning. We finalized our booking with Mark around January 2020, with a pl...
anned wedding date of November 14, 2020. As the year brought more and more chaos, Mark was not only calm and professional, but willing to adapt to our continuously changing plans. He was always available to chat, and was ultimately able to photograph our micro-wedding on 10/24/2020. Throughout the day, we'd catch Mark capturing little moments that would have otherwise been missed. Overall - we are thrilled with our experience and would highly recommend Mark.
Mark is BEYOND talented and I cannot say enough about his work. Once I received our pictures I really truly felt like I could relive the whole day. He told me he would capture and ...
tell the story of my wedding day, and he did just that! I wanted these photos to be different than my “usual” pictures. I wanted genuine emotions captured without having to pose for every picture all day. It was so much better being able to relax and have him do what he loves doing , which is capturing raw and genuine moments of the our day. They came out gorgeous.
Mark also has a really great and easy going attitude and is always offering help in whatever capacity he can. I am so happy that Mark photographed our day and I would highly recommend him!
Hands down the best decision we made was hiring Mark as our photographer. My sister is a professional photographer, but we wanted her to be in the wedding and enjoy the event. She ...
agrees that he was an amazing addition to our list of vendors. Mark has such a gift for capturing moments, making people feel relaxed and was very reasonably priced. He also got us our photos very quickly.
We hired Mark for an engagement session about six months before our wedding and for the three days of events the weekend of our wedding. He’s jovial, talented, organized, very experienced, and captured moments we didn’t even realize he was getting. Looking over my wedding photos, I can literally feel the happiness emanating from them. And as someone who doesn’t feel she’s particularly photogenic, he captured photos of me, my husband and our guests that made us look like celebrities!
Mark did an incredible job photographing our winter wedding! He was fun and easy to work with throughout the entire day. I picked several coastal spots for pictures and it turned o...
ut to be freezing on the day of our wedding. Mark was more than happy to brave the temperature outside! He scouted out the best spot for our first look when I hadn’t thought about it, stood outside in a snowstorm in the dark to get my dreamed of snowy picture, and helped wrangle our large family like a pro! Mark truly captured our day beautifully and looking through our album is like reliving the wedding over and over. To top it all off, we received the photos in just over one week! I would highly recommend Mark to anyone. He is a true professional, a gifted photographer, and a pleasure to work with!

d time was to get the images. We loved how he and his team blended into the wedding. My fiance and I are not huge on staged photographs, we really enjoy photos that capture the actual moment. Of course we wanted the "typical" photos of us with our wedding party and families but we did not want to spend a very long time taking these photos, we wanted to be able to hang out with our guests and enjoy our reception. Honestly when we got our photos back I was surprised at how many images we got and everything he captured because again he blended right into the wedding and never was standing directly in front of you snapping pictures. We are very happy with our photographs and we were very happy with Mark!

im to document the most important day of my life because of how that first conversation went! Not only is he an incredibly talented photographer, but he seamlessly documents your entire day, beginning to end, and manages to keep you (the bride) calm as a cucumber. Throughout the day and night, his presence was never intrusive and I could not be more thrilled that he captured so many candid and special moments of our wedding. The photographs were available quickly and we were able to easily download them for our use! I whole heartedly recommend Mark if you want to ensure flawless documentation of the most important day of your life!!
My cousin got married a couple of years of ago and the pictures came out so great I knew I could trust Mark Davidson Photography!
Here are my favorite things about working with t...
his vendor:
--Photo quality: My husband and I are not photogenic people and every
picture
came out perfect!
--Professionalism: I had Mark and another photographer from his team, Steve
work with us on our big day. Both photographer were friendly
and helpful throughout the whole day.
--Candid pictures: Mark and Steve got some amazing candid
pictures throughout the day. The day went by so quickly and
so when I got my pictures back, it was really special to go
through the pictures and see moments I didn't even realized
were captured.
--Special requests: I wore my mom's dress and I had Mark look
at some of her wedding pictures. I really wanted to take one
picture in the same pose as a surprise for her. I showed Mark,
and he got the perfect shot! The two photos look great next to
each other and my mom was so touched with this little detail.
Also, my sister has special needs and she really doesn't like
posing for pictures. Mark and Steve got SO many good
pictures of her--I couldn't be happier.
--Time frame: I got my pictures back in 3 weeks!!! AMAZING.
No cons to speak of :) You should book Mark Davidson Photography for you wedding today!!!
Mark was truly incredible to work with! I had first discovered him after he was the photographer for a friend’s wedding, and I absolutely loved her pictures. So when it came time f...
or my husband and I to pick a photography, I knew Mark had to be it! He was so easy & nice to work with from the very beginning! He was always available to answer any questions through the wedding planning process. Our pictures are perfect, and I could not love them anymore! There are so many beautiful candid pictures that I really love, but even for the more poised pictures, they look really natural and effortless. I’ve had many friends tell me how shocked they are that we got our pictures back so quickly (13 days after the wedding). And Mark makes it super easy to be able to go online look at all of your pictures and then download them.
Working with Mark was truly a gift, not only is he incredibly talented in his art, but he was so nice and easy going through the entire process! I will recommend him to any future friends/family who get married!

Mark did a fabulous job of photographing our wedding day! He called me a few days before the actual wedding day to go over all of the details and it really helped to calm my nerves...
. He showed up right on time on the wedding day and from there on we barely noticed his presence (in a good way!). Our main reason for choosing Mark was his ability to capture natural and candid moments as they unfolded throughout the day. He was very efficient in running through all of the formal photos and we were able to catch the last 20 minutes of our cocktail hour which was great! He captured so many beautiful photos that we will cherish for a lifetime! And he managed to get them back to us in under 3 weeks! We would highly recommend Mark!
Mark was unbelievable! We did our engagement photos and wedding photos with Mark. We knew right when we met him that we made the right decision, he was personable and made us feel ...
so comfortable and confident all at the same time. On our wedding day, we didn’t have to worry about a thing, Mark made everything so easy, so much so that we barely noticed him snapping candids all throughout our day. He was efficient with the family photos and later captured all of our must have shots as husband and wife! Mark was amazing!
