Not only were we impressed with his talented work, but our personalities clicked instantly, which made the decision very easy. We choose to do engagement photos with Kevin, which he highly recommends, in order for each of us to get more familiar with each other’s ideas and styles (this will also be a great bonding time with Kevin to get to know exactly how personable and comforting he is). I don’t get to make sure everything is going just right for her. I don’t get to calm her down when whatever minuscule little thing that morning was pissing her off. Cue Kevin Markland. My wife and all of her bridesmaids really made it a point to let us know how great their experience was with Kevin in the room photographing the moments before the wedding . Just his presence and attitude and personality alone can really make your day turn around. In the guys room, we had the pleasure of being joined by the ever so talented Jon, who worked alongside Kevin all day and who just like Kevin, has such a contagious, personable attitude which I continue to repeat throughout this review , however it literally MAKES EVERYTHING about the day. Jon really knew what and where to capture as the guys were getting ready. You wouldn’t of even known he was in the room while he was shooting , that’s how “in the moment” it was . Even the little touches like to which window in the suite had better lighting for my gift reveal photos or even making sure he captured me and my dad having a pre wedding heart to heart without us even knowing. Jon, thank you. Timing timing timing, it’s do or die when it comes to a wedding day and Markland photography knows all about it. Kevin and his crew made it a point to make sure we hit all of the spots my wife and I requested and made them at the right time of the day and with enough time to get a couple of laughs in! and attentive. He listened to exactly what we wanted and did not want noting everything down. We did an engagement shoot with him a few months after booking, which was flawless. My husband and myself are NOT photo people. In fact we are so awkward it’s terrible – but Kevin made it feel like we were all just hanging out for the day. Nothing super posed or too proper and let us just be us (this is why we booked him to begin with, we are all about those candids). Fast forward to wedding day. John, his assistant, is a wildly talented photographer and it makes sense why he works along side Kevin. He is funny & easy to talk to. He was in my husbands room but I had the pleasure of dealing with him personally during my first look which almost ended in a disaster for permit reasons until they both put that fire out with poise. Now, onto Kevin himself. BOOK HIM. I cannot stress enough book this company. Kevin is a downright good person. He is honest, compassionate, calming, attentive and kickass at what he does. There is NO better person to put that responsibility on then him and his staff. Long Island is packed with photographers who can take talented photos or at least edit photos to look good, but you’re a number to them. Not every photographer will sit in a room with you talking your nerves down, helping you get lipstick off your dress & genuinely caring. He takes the time to get to know you both and your story... He makes you feel as if you’ve known him your entire life, and ladies/gentlemen I am going to be honest – on your wedding day that’s exactly what you need, TRUST ME... He is the type of person who starts as a vendor when you book him and becomes a lifelong friend. You cannot go wrong with that; good people are hard to come by and by all means he is the exact definition of a damn good person. If you are on the fence about reaching out or booking him, please take the leap just hit the information button and shoot him a message – you will not be disappointed. My wedding was flawless and I couldn’t be more satisfied with my choice. I would choose Kevin over and over again his work is impeccable and his personality is unmatchable. and none of them even came close to the outstanding work Kevin does and how personable he is. He's so easy to work with, laid back, funny but still does an amazing job with photos. On the day of our wedding, Kevin and his assistant Jon arrived early and were so much fun. He had great ideas for pictures. And even though it was pouring, we got some AMAZING shots in the rain. He was never pushy, never made us do anything we didnt want to do. We only went outside for a few minutes and barely missed any of our wedding at all and got all the shots we wanted. We didnt book Kevin to stay the entire night, only up until the last hour. We had an issue with our venue and when Kevin heard about it, he stayed the entire night for us. Talk about excellent service! During the whole process he really feels like a friend more than your photographer and his pictures are so great, we even used him for a birthday photoshoot for our dog! I can't recommend him enough!

ruly are! Every photo is so dreamy and captures all of the beauty of our special day. His calm demeanor and professionalism can never be matched. I also think it’s important to say that he was never in anyone’s way. I’ve read some reviews that have talked about his candids vs. formal pictures, and although he specializes in his candid shots, if you want him to shoot something specific, just tell him, and he’ll find a way to get it done!!! We are so happy that we chose Kevin to be our wedding photographer, and have even referred him to some of our closest friends who have used/ are going to use him as well. r. My first ever shoot with Kevin were headshots in 2008, and till this day, I still use those pictures. Ive seen him do other amazing work in all his years of growth and development that sparked pretty much national acclaim all over the board. So it was only right that Kevin was going to shoot my engagement photos AND wedding ultimately, and man these pics were absolutely breathtaking to my fiancée and I. So many photogs have a tendency to get in the way or pose people uncomfortably and Kevin was the exact opposite. There was zero stress. He floated in and out of the crowd all afternoon, taking wonderfully intimate and candid shots while making use of the natural atmosphere and lighting. His demeanor was calm and cool, and I can't stress enough how comfortable everything felt. That kind of relaxation - on your wedding day! - goes a long way and certainly shows in his finished pictures. He will perfectly capture the emotion and aura of your day in the most unexpected ways.

e really wanted to understand what made us unique as a couple, so he could capture our personalities. Kevin shot our engagement photos, which we used for our 'save the dates'. Our wedding went as smooth as we could have hoped, and the photos can only be described by one word. INCREDIBLE! Kevin and his team captured every intimate moment and all the details we put into the ceremony and reception. He also ran our photobooth as well as helped us keeping the day on time. I don't know how he does it all! Now onto the photos! They were well worth the wait to get them back, and our album gives both of us butterflies re-living each of the moments he captured. He met us at a bar near our apartment and we observed his creativity and passion for capturing the beauty in everything. We had a blast taking engagement photos with him. Kevin remained patient, understanding and communicative the entire time. On our wedding day, I continued to feel comfortable with Kevin and his assistant. Other vendors we hired even commented on how easy he was to be around. One took his information so they can recommend him to others. Our photos were exactly what we expected from an amazing and talented photographer like Kevin. His photos come on a very cool flash drive with a picture of the couple, in a box that also has a picture. This was very interesting and unique. Kevin is not just a great photographer, but a damn good human being. Do not waste your time taking impersonal surveys for wedding photographers. Kevin will accommodate all of your needs!

Kevin was really collaborative with us throughout the entire process. We explained to him the look and feel we wanted in our photos and he delivered on that no questions asked. He was also open to hearing our ideas and sharing his ideas with us. This collaborative process made the photos feel uniquely us. Kevin was also incredibly accommodating & flexible. A storm hit the day our engagement photos were scheduled so we had to cancel. Kevin promptly rescheduled at the earliest possible convenience to ensure we still had the photos in time to use one as our save the date. Additionally, he was an absolute champ the week of our wedding – accommodating a shifting schedule as we worked to get photos in between periods of bad weather. ith. Even after our first meeting, we knew we had to work with him. Our wedding photos exceeded our wildest expectations, it's like reliving our entire wedding each time we look through them! My favorite shots are all the little moments he captured without us knowing. He is very accommodating, friendly, and you can tell how passionate he is about his craft. A true artist!! My sister loved my photos so much, she just booked him for her wedding next year! We highly recommend Kevin!!!

After he received his money we never heard from him and i had to hound him down for the pictures, even a preview (months and months later) and still after receiving the "professionals" i haven't received any of my albums or canvases. Kevin had a very limited amount of options for us to choose from, which makes it hard to even make an album...I only have one of me and my parents (and it's in black in white), one of myself (the bride), one of me and my maid of honor...etc....I would recommend being more clear to Kevin about what you want, and if you don't want all candids...he's not for you. Unfortunately, I was not happy with the outcome, and regret hiring him.

We wanted to include our dog, Bear, in our engagement and wedding pictures and Kevin was more than happy to. I also requested some creative portraits that he nailed! I wish I could post some of the pictures he took on The Knot. We also live out of state, and traveled to NY just for the wedding. Kevin was very easy to work with through emails, calls and texts. We didnt need to worry about anything during the wedding. He captured all the right moments. Ive been to many weddings where the photographers lack personality, and try to rush everyone during portraits and family photos, but i didnt feel that way with Kevin at all. Kevin added a personal touch to everything we recieved, which was really great. My husband and I are both police officers, and very much into guns and shooting, and Kevin found a way to incorporate that into our photos, which came out INCREDIBLE. We are very happy with our choice in photographer!

I have had so many people comment about how they didn't even notice them, or when others would go to take a picture, Kevin had already captured the moment. We were having our wedding in NY but we live in NC so there is a bit of stress in trying to make sure everything is perfect from so far away. We spoke via Skype and we went through the schedule of the day along with a custom package for us. His recommendations were very insightful and came in handy when scheduling the day but it also felt like we made a friend by the end of the call. He reassured us along the way up until the day of the wedding taking so much care and attention to detail you can see he was genuinely honored to be able to share our day. The day of the wedding Kevin and Jon were magnificent. They took a few staged pictures as is the norm but where they truly shine is the candid pictures that the two take. We have been reviewing the pictures and Kevin seems to be everywhere. Capturing special moments that you may not have even realized were there with your family friends and most importantly the two of us. You will be able to look back at these pictures and fight the tears of happiness and joy as you relive the this day over and over by just looking at the pictures. Most of the shots you would assume were stage but it is actually just Kevin's ability to capture the very organic enchantment and love that is generated on your special day. I cannot say enough about Kevin and I would recommend him to everyone. Kevin made the day special by being attentive, creative, and overall a very personable photographer. His constant ability to keep everyone smiling was like having your best friend taking pictures with you all day. We love the photos from our engagement shoot so much. Now that we have received our wedding photos back, we can say without a doubt how happy we are to have chosen Kevin for our wedding day. Once again his photos came out beautifully. He managed to capture so many beautiful moments throughout the entire day, not only between my husband and myself, but between all the guests as well. Being in front of a camera can be awkward and intimidating, and he made both experiences (engagement shoot and wedding day) so natural and exciting, we couldn't help but be ourselves in front of him. On the day of the wedding, he was amazing, he was everywhere he needed to be and seemed to be in the perfect place to snap a picture for me or my guests. Once we got the pictures, I was blown away! While our posed pictures were absolutely beautiful, his real talent showed through the action pictures he took. He seemed to intuitively know when to snap the picture to capture a person's emotion in that brief moment. It was like having a friend photograph you. He gave us some sneak peek photos very soon after the wedding, too! onal element we both wanted was a photographer who could capture the 'feel' of the day without being intrusive. We found that with Kevin. Of course he captured every expected event of the day: the signing of the marriage certificate, the ceremony, and the toasts, as well as the formal family shots. But it was the 'mood' shots that we loved. From the photos that showcased the setting that meant so much to us, to the impromptu hug Mike's son gave him afterwards, to the tears in our eyes as our family toasted us. Kevin has a natural knack of knowing what is important to capture.The end result is a mix of traditional with artsy, color with black and white, soft focus with sharp.
