Prior to my interview with Gail, my husband (still feels weird to say) and I discussed the traditional vows and though we wanted them to stay traditional we also weren't comfortable with some of the phrasing (honor and obey). I was nervous about asking for this change but before I could even bring the topic up Gail explained that though she kept the vows traditional she substituted/removed certain phrases, one being "honor and obey". For her to already be on the same page as us made our decision to hire her clear from the start and I don't think a better decision could've been made. She was polite, prompt and the vows she gave during the ceremony were absolutely beautiful! It's clear when you interact with Gail that it's her true passion to marry people. The way she speaks about it, the enthusiasm she shows, she simply loves, well, love! Working with someone who loves what they're doing so much is a wonderful feeling. During our search for an officiant, I had been worried who we might find, especially after my brother and his wife had a officiant who made remarks during his speech about stereotypical gender roles husbands and wives have had. Big yikes. So when we found Gail on EnGAYged and saw that she used gender-neutral language, did not include any religious aspect if it was not wanted, and focused on the joy and love that should be celebrated in a ceremony, we knew we found a great officiant. We are so thankful that she was the one to unite my wife and I in marriage.

the wedding, rehearsal dinner, and even travel fees. Unfortunately we had to reschedule our wedding to 2021 due to COVID restrictions and most of our other vendors were great. We gave about 2 months advance notice before our scheduled wedding. Gail was unavailable on our new date, which is understandable. However she kept the entire amount of money we paid her and refused to return anything, despite her never actually officiating our wedding or even traveling to the location. We only had 1 hour-long consultation with her and spent over $1,000 just for that. It’s a shame as now we not only lost that money but we also need to spend more to hire a new officiant.
