My husband and I booked a wedding at a popular chapel in SE Michigan that came with a minister (not Rev. Thomas). After watching the video of one of his weddings, we were not impressed. It was short, scripted and very impersonal. We decided to hire our own officiant. We found Rev. Roy Thomas on The Knot and after a wonderful Zoom meeting with him decided to hire him. I could tell from our first meeting he was not in this for the money. He truly cares about his couples and wants their weddings to be unforgettable, which ours was! I cannot tell you how meaningful, personalized and engaging our ceremony was. Our guests told us it was the most touching ceremony they have ever been to. Before we met Roy via Zoom, he sent us multiple samples of his writing, all of which were very good. My husband and I picked whichever options we liked best to string together a perfect length ceremony for our intimate wedding. While we loved his writing, Roy is very flexible and will let you include whatever you wish to edit or add to your ceremony as well. As someone who doesn't have an established relationship with a pastor already, I was anxious about finding an officiant that resonated with our values and our vibe! I found Roy on The Knot as a suggested vendor for my area and I'm so glad I found him! He provides so much more than just a ceremony speech when you sign up with him! My husband and I couldn't have asked for a better wedding officiant! We met Reverend Roy in the winter of 2018. We were in the early stages of wedding planning, and had a date selected in October of 2020. Upon meeting Reverend Roy and after listening to him speak, we knew we had found the perfect match! He spoke of the trials and tribulations of marriage, and of how rewarding the bond between husband and wife could be. We booked him right away, but sadly we had to postpone our wedding twice due to Covid and an unexpected pregnancy. Throughout the chaos of rescheduling all of our vendors and informing our guests of our decision to postpone, Reverend Roy could not have been more accommodating and patient. He was always quick to answer any questions we had, and always did so in a professional manner. He drove over an hour to the venue the night before the wedding so that we were able to hold a rehearsal, and he did so without complaint. When wedding time rolled around, he reached out frequently to see if we needed anything. Selecting readings was very simple and hassle free. He was always open to any suggestions and changes we wished to make. On the big day, Reverend Roy checked in on me while I was in hiding several times to see how I was holding up (probably making sure I wasn't getting cold feet! LOL!). Our ceremony readings were absolutely beautiful and completely personalized to our love story. We were even able to add a "Prayer for the Family" into our ceremony since there was a blending of families taking place. It was such a beautiful moment, including my stepdaughters and son into the ceremony. After the ceremony, we received so many compliments on how beautiful the service was. Many of my guests approached me throughout the night saying how touched they were by the service. Many said they were in tears throughout the entire ceremony! We are so grateful to have found Reverend Roy on The Knot and highly recommend his services to anyone looking for a professional, yet caring officiant. Rev. Roy Thomas was a God-sent. My fiance and I had a last moment plan to be married before an upcoming surgery. I reach out to him and inquired about the short notice of it. He was more than welcoming to help us out and AT HIS HOME!! We provided different vows to use and were open to amending a few words. He is a man of God which meant a lot to us. I would use and recommend him to anyone. The literature he provides about marriage and how the Lord ordained it and sees us through His eyes is an amazing read.

Roy married us in July 2022 and I cannot say enough good things about him. He was absolutely perfect! We did not have a chance to meet with him prior to our wedding day, so we worked with him on what we wanted for our ceremony via emails and phone calls and everything turned out just great! Reverend Roy was absolutely amazing! He kept it serious but also knew the right time to throw in some laughs. I wish there were more then 5 stars! To start off we were in a bind to find someone to marry us due to some issues with my church. We went looking and found Roy. After the first communication we knew he was perfect for us! The first email had all the information we could ever want, the phone call/ Skype with him was so easy, felt like we were talking to someone we knew forever. The actual ceremony was 100% customized by us for us, and Roy had recommendations which were amazing. Our family came up to us after and just had so many compliments about our ceremony and the “family” promise/vows with our kids then the salt lemon honey part. I was worried when we ran into our bump in the road but no I am so thankful it did because we had the perfect day with the help of Roy. Seriously 10/10 recommend! Roy came to our home after planning things with my husband the process was fast and he was very persistent to make sure we were happy with our arrangements. Also he brought a little gift to help us prepare for the later possible incounters to help us better prepare to stay positive in any outcome

Roy was just amazing! We are Catholic but didn't want to get married in the church so we had to find an officiant. We wanted someone who was religious but also made the ceremony special. Roy definitely was a perfect choice. We did a zoom call and he sent us a ton of options for things we could include in the ceremony. It was so easy to tailor things and add in our own touches to make it unique and special. He was communicative, prompt, and such a nice guy. We would not hesitate to highly recommend Roy!

When starting our search for an officiant, we had no idea where to begin. Neither of us felt close to our home church pastors, but we were scared it may feel impersonal to have someone we didn't know conduct the ceremony. When we first met with Roy, we both felt at ease and knew he was the right choice. The wedding ceremony was everything we could have wanted and more. It was personal and intimate, customized to include all of the details and touches we wanted, yet was concise and well organized. We have received many, many compliments on our ceremony!
