When I photograph a wedding, I want to photograph what it felt like not how it looked. I want to create timeless images that will allow you to relive the experience. What I’m after are the candid moments that add up to tell your story. Even when it comes to portraits, I will give you plenty of direction but I what I’m looking for is nuance and genuine emotion.
Being a wedding photographer is about a lot more than taking pictures. I am here to help you through it. I’ll fluff your dress, make sure you are hydrated and wrangle the family. I want to add to your experience and hopefully make you laugh while I’m at it.

We originally contacted Mary because we loved the look and style of her portfolio. We hired her because her vibe seemed to match what we wanted. We got exactly what we were hoping for on both fronts. You can look at her portfolios yourself, so let's discuss what it is like to work with her.
First, formal portraits. This is where you interact with your photographer the most directly. Mary is low-stress, but high energy. Her confidence is infectious and she communicates clearly, so you can be sure that everyone will look their best. We immediately felt comfortable letting her direct us, so everything went very smoothly. She wrangled the whole wedding party, consistently repositioning folks, frequently adjusting us as the unpredictable Seattle daylight shifted, and kept everyone smiling the whole time, without ever being the center of attention herself. It felt less like a photoshoot and more like getting tagged in to a game that was going on while everyone was hanging out.
As for the rest of the night, Mary was always present, but never in the way. She captured some really fantastic candid photos of us and our wedding guests. We just knew that she was going to produce amazing results, so we didn't have to attend to it at all, we could just focus on our ceremony and enjoy our party.

After booking Mary, she generously offered to take time during a personal trip and shoot our engagement photos in Los Angeles (where we live.) With no time for advance location scouting, Mary's trained eye for detail, direction and lighting produced wonderful photos in an outdoor setting much different from the PNW.
Mary was patient, supportive and helpful even as we changed our wedding plans no fewer than three times (!) due to COVID-19. We scaled back our ceremony considerably and did not use a planner, but Mary was so easy to work with leading up to the event date.

ing (spoiler alert: she did). We met her for lunch before booking, and she was so warm and friendly that locking her in was an obvious choice. Email communication was always easy and prompt. She provided a form a couple weeks before the wedding for a shot list, which made it easy to share what we needed.
On the day of, Mary and her second shooter were warm, friendly, professional, and all-around awesome. They were on time, kept things rolling, and were easy-going and fun. We really enjoyed having them both be part of our day, not just as professionals, but as people.
About a month after, I emailed her to find out when we'd get to see the photos. She gave us an estimate of 6-8 weeks, and they were delivered right on time, exactly 1 day after our 8 week anniversary. As hoped, they are absolutely beautiful, and truly reflect who we are and what our day was all about.
