Masako was one of the only salons on the island that would agree to tailoring my dress even though I bought it on the mainland. Zoe helped me through the entire alteration process, providing invaluable feedback during the 3 separate fittings. I loved my dress before, but the the alterations truly made it fit to me and made me feel beautiful. They created a French bustle, which was easy for my friends and sister to put together, and held up through dancing all night. Thank you Masako for making my day even more special, and thank you to Zoe for your care, patience, and insight!
I had so many compliments on my dress! I’m 6 months pregnant but you would never know because my dress did such an amazing job hiding my belly. Zoey at Masako Formals is the nicest girl and did the greatest job with each fitting I went to. Highly recommend getting your dress from her :)
I had a fantastic experience at Masako's. The staff were friendly and welcoming, true Aloha spirit. I found several dresses I really liked, but none that were the one. I am actually really disappointed that I wasn't able to order from Masako, just because I had such great service there.
Very happy to share that my Fiancé & I have enjoyed a most lovely experience at Masako Formals. This was our first visit to a wedding gown retailer in Honolulu & thankfully, it was the only bridal shop we needed to return to. With Zoë's expertise & professional eye, she quickly guided us to the most beautiful ensemble. Combining a love of vintage inspired detail, old Hollywood glamour, and rebellious quirk, we came up with something special that I believe represents who I am as a Woman, Wife & Bride. For a long time, my Feminist identity questioned institutions of marriage, the superficiality of the white wedding, and the politics of purity. Working together with the shared input from Zoë's fun fashionista sense of style & the traditional charm of the Person who knows me best in this world, we came up with a Ceremonial Gown I can feel authentic in, honored & proud. Will return to share updates as wedding approaches in July. Excellent first impressions. Much love & gratitude. Mahalo!
I fell in love with three dresses at Masako Formal. I went back three separate times, two of them were complete drop ins, to try them both on and was given amazing service each time. Because I dropped in, I did not expect to be helped, but just wanted to see the dresses. Naomi is the absolute BEST. She went above and beyond each time I was there. She helped me decide between the two and even helped add some custom alterations to really make it the dress I had always dreamed of. I am so excited to wear it on my wedding day! Thank you, Naomi!
You can find high quality and reasonable dress here. I bought 2012 Casablanca bridal collection here. I was stunning with this dress. But remember, once you bought you can't return or exchange. Staffs are nice too. No one demand me 'this is last min deal etc" They let us looked for a while. I felt comfortable and no pressure.
This experience was a wedding day nightmare! I had found "the dress" that I wanted to wear for my wedding at Masako's. I special ordered it 7 months before my wedding because I wanted to wear white & the dress in the store was ivory. First thing, they never measured me to find my actual dress size. The dress in the store was a size 8 & they told me that was my size. So I trusted they knew what they were doing & ordered my dress in white. My dress only took 3 months. I went in to see it & try it on. Everything seemed ok & I made an appt. for my 1 month alteration. Went in to adjust the length & add a bussel. Went back a week later & the length of my dress was crooked. One side was longer then the other so I had to make another appt. one week before my wedding to come back & retry the dress on. I went back the final time & was putting on my dress when I noticed something at the bottom. A big red blood spot on my dress! Someone else's blood was on my dress! While looking some more we found smaller spots around my dress also. They couldn't tell me how the blood got there & my dress also fit differently. It was now big by my hips. I'm one week away from my wedding with a blood stained dress. The owner told us, "what do you want us to do about it?" Well that blood wasn't on there the week before when I tried on my dresss. We were finally able to get our money back & I had very little time to search for a new dress elsewhere. I suggest you stay away from buying here. They didn't want to take responsibility & they ruined my dress.
Masako Formals had the most beautiful selection of dresses. The seamstress fitted the dress perfectly to my body and everyone said the dress looks like it was made for me.
The people there are very nice however very unorganized!! I went there for a dress fitting which they scheduled for me to find out when I got there they never told the seamstress of the appointment. The manager sized me wrong and took off to much to make a long story short i did not receive my dress until the morning of my wedding. STill after all the mistakes made my dress was still too big and the bustle which they made one for my dress did not work and hold my dress up!! I would not recommend this place to anyone
We did a formal kimono dressing for our engagement photos. It was a fun experience that we didn't need to fly to Japan for.
I had been to David's Bridal, Princess Brides, Bridal Boutique, Casablanca and some other bridal shops in Los Angeles. I found so many dresses that I loved, but Masako's and Princess Brides were the only two places that I actually wanted to give my money to. Every other place had young, pushy salespeople who would yak incessantly at you. Oh, that dress makes you look sooooo thin! Or the ones who ignore you unless you have a budget over $3000. They have dresses for everyone, and because they specialize in Japanese weddings, they cater to the customer... all about the service! I would never give my money to someone who judges me by how I look or how much commission they'll make.
Pauline is a wonder! She's the only one who speaks English, and her corset lacing skills are bar none! She makes it look so easy! I got my dress, a Sophia Tolli, for $1500 including all the alterations... hemming, taking it in, cleaning, making sure all the beads stayed on, etc. That's basically $1000 for a dress. Not only that, but if your bridesmaids buy their dresses there, they'll get another 10% off. Not too shabby!
Not only did the staff at Masako Formals provide me excellent feedback on the perfect wedding dress, but they were able to help me pick out jewelry and shoes. They didn't focus on the price and commission, but really spent time finding the dress that made me flush and smile stupidly. :) Not only that, but they worked with the vendor when my dress got stuck in customs and were able to get my dress alterations done two days before the wedding and everything was perfect!!
I had gone to almost every bridal boutique on the island, and finally I found Masako formals! Everywhere I had been either were not very high quality of dresses or the dresses were so typical they bored me. Also I am in my late 20's however I look much younger and the level of professionalism with the sales people was disappointing. The sales person at Masako were very professional, treated me as a bride to be and even let me search through the dresses myself - which a lot of places do not allow you to do. I also enjoy how they cater to Japanese clinentel because most of the dresses fit me better than for example Casa Blanca or David's Bridal. I am Filipino half European and am very petite, so the dresses matched my sillouette more perfectly. Also I love all the unique dresses and the quantities they had available and you cannot beat there prices ranging from 700-1000 (the ones I tried). The other Bridal shops had all started at 1200, or if they did not you could see the BIG difference in quality!
I was shopping for a wedding dress at another shop and was sorely disappointed. On my way back I noticed Masako formals and there was a tiny lettering underneath that said wedding gowns. I decided to stop in although most of the dresses in the window were prom dresses. I was so surprised when I went inside because they had a full section dedicated to bridal gowns. It was so beautiful inside and the consultant was a doll. I tried on many dresses and they were all amazing. I was so excited because not only were the dresses different and unique but they were also not going to break my budget! I found the dress of my dreams and would recommend this vendor to anyone looking for a fantastic dress!
No one was helpful in the store and they had me waiting for a long time. There was no consideration to listen to my ideas or look at the collection of pics I had brought showing what I was interested in.
The dress was beautiful. They honored a discount coupon that I got from a bridal expo.;Very rude employees, especially AFTER you purchase a dress. They make you pay for alterations before they do them, which was okay, except the alterations were horrible. They made me order a dress that was 4 sizes too big. The style was mermaid, but they did not want to alter it so that it fit me snuggly. Then they FINALLY did and they made fun of me that I would not be able to sit in my dress and that I would have to stand the whole night. Very rude.
They were very helpful
