und the house as we write this review)! In short – their work is a (huge) step above the traditional approach to wedding photography. Their documentary style is extraordinarily insightful and moving - they are able to beautifully capture the main storyline of the wedding while weaving in the separate experiences of guests, wedding party and speakers, and the surrounding venue. When we received our pictures, we were struck by the number of sub-plots/moments of the wedding we would never have realized without their perspective Consultation: We had a great initial consultation with Matt. Matt is a consummate professional (beyond the killer shots – you can tell why he is hired for a large number of commercial gigs as well as individuals) and asked all the right questions on what we were looking for. He outlined his and Sarah’s approach (documentary) and style throughout, which I’d call it unobtrusive but very emotionally connected to all of the events. Engagement Shoot: Matt weathered a blizzard to come out for our engagement shoot in NYC. He got some of our favorite shots of the whole wedding experience during these shoots and was able to immediately spot great shots around our favorite neighborhoods without ever setting foot there before. We hardly noticed he was taking pictures when we tried to take him to our favorite pizza joint in the city (Price Street Pizza… go get some), which turned out to be the best photos of the shoot! We got our photos within a few weeks of the shoot and were able to use them throughout our wedding website and save the date materials. Wedding Day: Matt provided great perspectives on our overall wedding schedule and helped us think through how approach would impact the day. In hindsight, some big decisions he steered us towards (fitting pictures in early so we could attend the full cocktail hour) really made the day. On the day itself, Matt and Sarah were incredible across the board. I (the groom) spent a huge amount of time with Matt from getting ready, to waiting for the first look, and getting ready to walk in to the church. Beyond his incredible photos, he kept everyone on schedule, was always ready with a water (…or a bit later with a beer), and kept everything cool and collected throughout the whole day. Both he and Sarah were always there when we needed them and faded into the day when they weren’t. Both were incredibly well prepared to take important shots throughout the day. Importantly, Matt and Sarah were able to get all of the family shots required and took the perfect balance of kindness and firmness to keep things moving. Photos: We LOVED everything about our photos. M&S provide photos in chronological order, accessible through an online portal. They’re all incredibly high quality and incredibly easy to place in whatever types of artifacts you ultimately look to make. We ended up going with an online photobook service leveraging the super user friendly portal, and ended up saving a ton of money relative to having the photographers put together the book. Ultimately, we ended up making unique books for a few members of the family which would have cost a fortune to have anyone do. Matt and Sarah certainly offer the option, but kindly steered us towards the online approach up front after we’d told them about our needs.

ew it would be a great fit. He is easy going, and you feel like you have known him for years. When we got our pictures back you can see the time and detail put into every picture. We couldn't be happier with our pictures and love that we get to relive our day through our photos.

I looked into and talked to other photographers who were wonderful but ultimately, I kept coming back to Matt & Sarah because of these two qualities. I knew they would simply sit back and capture the moments but that they wouldn't miss a thing. I knew that their photos would be documentarian and narrative, timeless and honest, not posed or trendy. And all of that was true. If you're looking for certain shots or poses, they might not be your right match. But if you are looking for the moments — the expression on your grandma's face when grandpa tells her a dirty joke, the way someone keeps a baby quiet and happy during the ceremony, the feelings of anticipation and joy and love and the way you and your people looked and felt on that day — all captured from a truly distinct perspective, then they are your match made in heaven. Thank you Matt & Sarah. Your presence on our wedding day was lovely and respectful and easy. Your work will be in our hearts and our homes always.
