We heard about Matt through friends of ours, after he photographed their wedding in Italy. After we got engaged ourselves, we shopped around for a photographer local to us in Philadelphia, but couldn’t get Matt’s photos (or Instagram feed) out of our minds. His work is so distinctive. So moody. So stunning. So unlike 99% of everything else that’s out there. For someone who has been named one of the best wedding photographers in America (according to Brides, three years running), Matt is impossibly humble and down to earth. There are very few people we would have wanted to be in such close proximity with for so much of our wedding day. Flying him out to Pennsylvania to document our big day was one of the best decisions we made in the 12+ months we spent planning. This became even more clear after we had an unexpected 90-minute timeline delay and Matt single handedly got us back on track, with a Plan B that surpassed everything we’d envisioned for Plan A. I don’t know what we were more impressed by: his speed/efficiency (especially with family photos!) or his skill (especially his ability to find the best light, frame the shot, and get two people who are admittedly camera-shy to relax and just be in the moment). We wanted the opposite of a cookie cutter wedding album, someone who would put us both at ease in front of the camera, someone who would be great with our guests, and someone who would capture memories made to last a lifetime. Matt (over)delivered on every front. If he has your date free, waste no time getting that contract signed!

Matt did our engagement shoot and was there for us on our wedding day. Matt was flexible as we navigated adjusting our wedding date from May to August due to COVID, and he made the entire process so easy and comfortable. Matt is not only the best to work with, but his products are unmatched. He has amazing photography skills and is so attentive to capturing natural raw moments throughout the day. We love him and his work!!

Matt is hands down one of the BEST photographers I have had the honor of working with. His has the ability to capture some of the most stunning photos I have ever seen. Every couple is floored with their wedding album and have nothing but great things to say about it. I trust him to take care of the couples I send his way and know that they will cherish those photos forever. And I love having his work in my portfolio :)

Matt is the best! He photographed our elopement in Italy and our reception in Chicago. Our Italy photographs are stunning. We cannot believe it is actually us in the photos. He perfectly captured the day, while keeping it special and fun. We displayed a slideshow of our Italy photos at our reception, and our guests continued to comment on how much they loved the photos. I really wanted wedding photos that were special and not "typical" photos, and Matt easily exceeded those expectations.

Matt Lien takes the most AMAZING photos. He captures the emotions and overall feel of the day and I feel like I'm reliving our wedding day every time I look at our photos. Definitely worth the investment.

One word to describe Matt: AMAZING! After our first meeting with Matt, my husband and I immediately knew we wanted him to photograph our wedding. He's professional, easy-going, and an incredibly talented photographer. He was so responsive throughout our entire engagement (year and a half), and he shot our engagement photos too, which were stunning. Seriously, we were told they could be in a magazine, and for that all the credit goes to him. And I can't say enough about our wedding photos, the day of the wedding he was super calm (which I needed), and he got all of the shots I had been hoping for. He caught so many candid moments, and the shots of us outside by Lake Calhoun are breathtaking. I promise, choosing Matt to photograph your wedding will be the best choice you make!

What a gift it is to be able to honestly trust someone with the task of capturing your wedding day. That is what Matt was able to provide for us. From the first meeting, we knew he knew what he was doing and felt completely comfortable handing over the task. I never once questioned whether we'd made the right decision, or felt like I needed to do any work - he took his job and ran with it. Definitely one of the best.

Matt is the best in the business, hands down. He flew with us to St. Lucia for our elopement and he was an absolute pleasure to work with. He is so extremely talented in all ways. He is also a really cool guy and makes you feel really comfortable while he makes you look like a movie star on camera. I would highly recommend him, whether in the USA or anywhere in the world.

i am a professional photographer myself, so this was one of the most important things for my wedding. As soon as I saw Matt's work, i was sold. His style fit what I wanted and he was so easy to work with. His creative work speaks for itself.

First of all, Matt is just an awesome photographer. You can tell by his photos. But he's also really great to work with. His prices are very reasonable as well, especially for everything you get and the quality of the photos. We included the photobooth and I highly recommend it, it's so much fun! We definitely recommend Matt!

Still waiting to get all of our photographs from the wedding, but I expect nothing but excellence when it comes to Matt and his work. He has such a great talent with wedding photography, capturing our personalities and love so perfectly. Our engagement session with him was amazing too!

Matt and his wife went to the same college as my husband and I, but I had NO IDEA how gifted he was. He is so creative and wonderful with color and outdoor photos. EASY to work with and in the midst of a stressful day, he is a walk in the park. He is timely and affordable. He captures all the informal moments too that really give you the feel of that day. BOOK HIM!

Matt did a phenomenal job with our wedding and engagement pictures. He's very easy to work with and the pictures were everything we hoped for (and I was very picky with selecting a photographer). He was very affordable as well.
