Matter Video was me and my husband's first choice for our California Redwoods wedding, and when the pandemic hit and we decided to move our wedding back locally in NY we initially decided to keep them to capture footage for a honeymoon shoot we would do the same day as our original wedding date and started the search for a new videography team. Frankly, we were starting to get frustrated as we went through different local vendors.. it just didn't have that "something" that pulled us to Matter Video. Finally we decided to forget about the honeymoon for now because we couldn't have anyone else capture our day.. it had to be Matter Video. I reached out to Dan and boy was it a blessing that him and Tony were available for a completely new wedding date and willing to travel! From day 1 just inquiring about services to delivering our wedding film everything felt seamless and easy. Dan responds to emails in a more than timely manner and is extremely easy going. You never feel pressured and everything always felt right. Just like photography, I think it is so important to feel comfortable with the people who film your special day because how you're feeling will show up on camera and even good editing will be difficult to hide that if you don't feel your best! Choose Dan and his team because they WILL absolutely make you feel your sparkliest. Our package had a wedding teaser and a highlights film --quality is top notch and they really captured the essence of our wedding amazingly. The teaser felt like a movie trailer that gave you just enough to want to watch the movie but definitely teased your bones in anticipation for more! Then the film itself felt like a movie recap that gave away all the best parts of the movie but we are not complaining! We are so glad we hired Dan and should we ever need these services again in the future, you bet we know exactly who to call.

We weren't able to have all of our friends and family there due to COVID-19 and the footage from the ceremony and edited video truly captured the emotions of the wedding day and all the highlights. Dan braved the cold wind, rainy weather (which luckily cleared just in time), and managed to shoot from multiple angles, all without a support crew. He also used a drone to get some incredible pans of the landscape. Dan was prompt, responsive, and embodied everything you could want in a videographer. We 110% recommend them for any and all future weddings and events!

We had purchased the extra social highlight video and had it in our hands by the time we woke up the next morning which was absolutely amazing! Dan was also very accommodating with our date changes because of COVID, and made that part of the planning process a breeze. We ended up adding on a livestream of our wedding ceremony so that all of our guests could attend virtually. We’re so glad we decided to do this! Dan set up a page on YouTube and we liked this option better than Zoom because guests could join late and rewind, or go back days later and rewatch, and overall it just felt more professional. Day of, Dan and his assistant Shawn made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. They made us laugh and gave us tips on how to pose and look natural. They were always nearby to capture every moment. The day after our wedding — yes, the next day! — we had a teaser video in our inboxes. We were so impressed by this, and of course the video is incredible and we watch it at least once a week! Definitely book Dan for your video needs, and if possible, book a photographer that he’s worked with before, too. It makes the day-of flow very seamless and easy!

But on your special day: So locked-in, working hard to get everything he needs to make a masterpiece on your special day. wedding in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. From the prep work leading up to our wedding, to the actual day of, and afterwards - they were always professional and had impeccable communication. It is so important to feel comfortable with the vendors that are by your side on your special day...and these guys are the BEST! Not only do they have the best personalities, give off the greatest energy, and are super funny, but they are insanely easy to work with. Within 24 hours we were sent a "sneak peek" of our wedding video. We loved seeing this, as it allowed us to relive some of the memories - seeing it through the eyes of our guests. Of course it was absolutely incredible and got us excited to see our full video! **Side note: My husband has a background in film and was blown away by the quality of Matter Video's work (even on the "sneak peek" video)! For the amount we paid, the quality of what we got in return (and for the turn around time) was unmatchable.** Fast forward a little less than a month and we received our full wedding video! Say what?? Less than one month?? YES! What's better than getting your wedding video earlier than expected?? Not much, honestly. We couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. We probably watched it nearly a dozen times the day we received it. We haven't been able to stop showing friends and family members and can't recommend using Matter Video for your big day enough! most important thing to me for our wedding. I can’t tell you how much research I did into different videographers, and all I could think about was Matter Video. I could not be more happy booking them. I know I’m a bit biased here, but I’ve seen quite of few friends’ wedding videos, but nothing compares to ours (well, our teaser video, at least). Dan and Johnny shot our wedding, and they were phenomenal (incredible, amazing, funny, fun, perfect, etc.). They were both so easy to work with, they made our whole bridal party feel at ease while filming (including us!), and at some points, like our first look, we completely forgot they were there. The day after our wedding, we received our short clip of the wedding and I swear, we probably watched it about 40 times that day. The quality of the video and the editing is completely unmatched. I have yet to see another wedding videographer achieve what Matter is able to. We are SO excited to receive the full video. Booking Matter Video was the best decision we made for our wedding. Fast forward one year, after our wedding and after receiving our video, I can hands down say hiring him was the BEST decision we made. He filmed our Palm Event Center wedding in July of this year, and I do not think that anyone else would have been able to capture the essence of our day in the way he did. On the day of my wedding, I was blown away by how easy it was. My husband, who was skeptical about having someone film the whole day, had nothing but amazing things to share with me afterwards. They made the process so easy, I actually stopped to ask Dan a few times, "Wait, is that it?". He did not waste time, he got what he needed, and at times, I forgot that they were there. They blended in with the crowd so well, and made everyone in our bridal party feel extremely comfortable in front of the camera. Looking back at our video, I have cried about 20x today after receiving it. His work is not only professional, fast, and high quality, but he genuinely has the "it" factor not everyone has. He has allowed us to relive our special day in a way we would have never imagined! We are so grateful and lucky to have had him film our special day, it is truly an honor for us! I am SO glad that we took the recommendation of our family friend to book Matter Video ASAP. All I had to do was watch a few videos off their blog, read a few yelp reviews, and I was like, "YEP!". Dan and Johnny blew my already high expectations out of the water. I hadn't actually had the opportunity to meet Dan until day of wedding, but as soon as they walked in the door, I knew I had made the right choice. Even in a room of 12+ girls drinking champagne and talking over each other, Dan was directive but blended in, easy going and incredibly personable. As a bride on your wedding day, you're trying to manage the attention of about a million people at one time, and I was so grateful that I didn't have to worry about keeping up with them - they were complete naturals and were where they needed to be when they needed to be there. Dan and Johnny also worked flawlessly with my other vendors - especially our videographer Karey (Hazy Lane Studios - book her fast too!) since they do a ton of work together. They have an awesome rapport where they know when to get in and out of eachother's way, have the same vision for photo/film, etc. This is weird, but I wish I could be friends with them both?!? And, the cherry on top, I woke up the NEXT MORNING to a 45 second teaser video (complete with a bunch of flattering instagram tags!!). And ONE WEEK LATER I got the surprise of my life when my completed video was sent to my inbox. I've watched it only about a hundred times, and every time I find a new detail that I'm amazed at. First off, it is incredible to see how many shots and tiny tiny details they can capture in each of their films. While they spend the most time on ceremony, dances, etc. you definitely get your fill of contextual detail shots as well. They also made Jon and I just look GOOD. I don't know how, but they do it. Every time. Just watch the videos on their blog. To recap: 1) Dan (and Johnny) rock. Follow Matter Video on Instagram to get a sense of their personalities. 2) They get sh** done. Their editing incredibly high quality, they film beautiful shots (drone!), and they are extremely professional - both in pre and post communication. 3) They play well with others - bridesmaids, the guys, mothers of bride, vendors, etc. Mater Video is a dream. My husband and I were referred to Dan by two of our friends and we were lucky enough to see Dan at work at their wedding. Dan and team were friendly, professional, and just as good at blending into the background as tearing it up on the dance floor to get some good action shots. For us, videography was critical. We had a small 15-person wedding ceremony but also a 300+ person wedding reception. The only way our greater family and friend community was going to see our ceremony was through the video. Therefore it was important for us to find the right vendor who could not only produce but also was chill enough to hang out with us and our families on the day of our ceremony. Dan and his team were perfect. Great on email and phone. Prompt not only the day-of but in all follow-up. And genuinely cool people. They worked well with our photographer and also had good rapport with our families. Plus the video was gorgeous! Dan has creative vision and will capture the feeling of your day, even down to the little moments you didn't expect to see. Point is - there are a lot of options in the Bay Area but we did a lot of due diligence and are so glad we chose Dan for our day!

don that I started imagining our wedding day and how it would go and what I wanted it to be like. I even started secretly pinning all the ideas I had for our wedding before we were even engaged. What my dress would look like, the venue, the tables, the signs – everything. You know how every single love movie has that slow motion moment, with literally the perfect song, and they ride off into the sunset? Yeah, Brandon did that for me. He makes me feel that way every single day of my life. So, when we got engaged and I actually got to start planning my wedding, there were two important things I swore I wouldn’t skimp out on…videography and photography. I wanted to make sure I could look back on our wedding day and be reminded of exactly how I felt in that moment. I searched everywhere. I lurked every single person I knew who had gotten married or was getting married so that I could see what vendors they were using. How I came to find Matter Video, I’m not quite sure, but I cried when I started watching his videos. I knew, without a doubt, he would capture my real life love story and make it into a movie I could watch over and over again. One with that slow motion moment, with literally the perfect song, and then Brandon and I would ride off into the sunset. I’ve only gotten the 1 minute teaser and I have already watched it a bazillion times. Dan is one of the funniest people. If you don’t follow him on social media, please do, and thank me later. Him and his team are so down to earth and they have this crazy ability to be right there with you, laughing and goofing off, yet getting all the shots as if there were 10 of them, but there were only 2. They don’t leave any details out and I never once felt I was being posed or told what to do – they just let you be you and capture it all. ng the right guy or gal! We were referred to Dan and Matter Video by our wedding planner extraordinaire, Lindsay with Lindsay Lauren Events. We visited Matter Video's website many, many times, and I "followed" Matter Video on Instagram before we hired him. Turns out, Dan is exceptionally funny and light hearted- something of which was important to us, since we were to hang out together during the most important day of our lives! Matter Video is based out of Dublin, and we live in Brentwood. So, with his very busy schedule and our typically busy schedule, Dan and I had our first meeting on the phone, where he explained his process, and where I asked many questions. Within minute 10 of our 30 minute conversation I knew I wanted to book him for our January 2018 wedding. Payments were split in two, a contract was signed, and we were booked! Three weeks before the wedding, we met with Dan in person at a local Starbucks, where he was quite the host! During this meeting, we went through our plans with a fine toothed comb, and relayed to Dan the importance of including all four of our children into the video, since this day was just as much for them as it was for the two of us. Dan understood and had no problem at all incorporating all four kids into the film. Fast forward to our wedding day- January 14, '18. Dan and his associate videographer, Shawn, arrived right on time to our gorgeous AirBnb "getting ready" location (for both the Bride and Groom- a legit mansion) in Pleasanton. Our wedding venue was in San Ramon, and they had no problem driving from one location to the other. Dan and Shawn would either film together (but from different angles), or be separated depending on the type of filming that needed to be completed. They were both ever so patient with us and our kids. The wedding events went off without a hitch (videography wise), and that's really all that matters for this review! We received our complete wedding film exactly a month later, and I had to wait a full twelve hours until my husband got home from work before we would view it together. That was so difficult, let me tell ya! Upon viewing, both Paul and myself were full smiles and of course, tears from me. Our two song choices were PERFECT, and Dan did such a great job with his timing and production. I sent off our film link to our wedding party, and they absolutely loved it. Their responses ranged from, "I LOVE IT!"- to "IT'S LIKE A MOVIE!"- to "I WANT TO GO BACK!!". And yes, they used exclamation points and capital letters, to boot. About two weeks after Valentine's Day, we received our raw footage in the mail in the form of a USB drive. Thank you Dan and Shawn for all of your hard work. about Dan & Travis (our 2nd shooter on our wedding day). Short background on our planning process - my husband and I actually booked a different videographer at first. She was just starting out and her prices were way less than the average cost. But after reviewing her work, we knew we wanted to invest in our video. So we ended up reaching back out to Dan, and luckily he was still available for our date. That was seriously one of the best decisions we made, and was worth every penny. Dan is crazy talented and has the eye for telling your story. Before we signed the contract, I watched a bunch of videos on his site from previous weddings, and I seriously teared up a few times watching - and I didn't even know those couples! His work speaks for it self. On the day of the wedding, Dan and Travis were so fun to work with. They were great at giving direction and definitely brought the humor, which I'm sure helped lighten the mood. They also worked really well with our photographer, which is a huge plus. They were respectful of each others space and really worked together to make sure we got the most out of both. I can go on and on but you get the point. Dan - THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES for creating such a beautiful film for us. Because of you, we can re-live our big day over and over again.

it to Matter’s website, we were blown away by both the high-quality visuals as well as the emotional narratives that were consistently present in all their videos (Jessica freely teared up watching several wedding videos of strangers she had never met). As soon as we got on the phone with Dan, we knew immediately he was a great fit for us. He instantly made us feel comfortable and we were laughing right away, and he provided clear and knowledgeable answers to all our questions. Dan was responsive, flexible, and supportive throughout our entire planning process. On the day of the wedding, working with Dan and his second shooter Tony was like hanging out with two of our closest friends. While the bridesmaids and Jess were getting ready in the morning, Dan and Tony were present but not intrusive, and they made everyone feel totally comfortable and relaxed (this was helped by the fact that Dan knows the lyrics to every pop song released between 2002-2009). Dan kept us calm and laughing throughout the day, giving subtle direction when it was necessary and blending into the background during more intimate moments. During the reception, there were several moments where Dan and Tony felt like they were part of the party, and they got some truly amazing shots by joining us out on the dance floor. The day after our wedding, we woke up at 8am to a text from Dan with our 30 second teaser. It was an absolutely unreal turnaround, and it was such an incredible surprise to be able to relive the day so soon after it was over. When we received our final video a few weeks later, we were beyond thrilled, and we’ve laughed and cried every single time we’ve watched it. Every shot is not only beautiful, but natural and authentic to us as a couple, and the video so perfectly captures the story of our day. Watching it feels like living the day over again, which is exactly what we were hoping for. Thank you Dan and Matter Video for being such an awesome part of our wedding day!
