MAX Ultimate Food

r eaten at a wedding. We wholeheartedly agree: the food was not just good "by wedding standards", it was absolutely delicious. We were overjoyed from the start working with Sage to craft a veggie-centric and allergen-aware menu for our guests with diverse dietary needs. An early green flag was seeing how expansive the vegetarian options were among the menu choices. When we sat down for our tasting, we were blown away by how damn good these options actually were. To name a few: at cocktail hour, guests kept demanding more of the zucchini and corn fritters, and could not believe that they managed to make them gluten free. Supposedly "simple" sides, like roasted fingerling potatoes, were out of this world. The mac and cheese...I'll be honest Sage if you're reading this review we are going to call you and beg for the mac and cheese recipe for ourselves because we and our friends and family unanimously agree it was the best mac and cheese we've ever had, and we're so glad we asked if you could double the portions. The roasted chicken had no right to be that juicy and flavorful, seeing how you were keeping it hot on a buffet line. It's been days and people are still telling us about the food at our wedding, which just...doesn't happen. That's not to say that this review should just be taken as "food good". The staff, we can't say enough nice things about the staff. In our planning stages and at our tasting, Sage was kind and helpful and thorough. Night of at our event, we met the brilliant and unparalleled Fran, who ensured our glasses and bellies were full, that we never wanted for even a morsel of food, and that everything ran smoothly—all with a smile and a good attitude when we awarded them a couple gold star stickers for their efforts by the end of the evening. The bar staff were friendly and attentive, and we felt so comfortable chatting with them that we were inviting them to the dance floor once bar service wrapped up. (The bride, who had designed a mocktail for the party, was delighted when at the end of the night, she learned the bartenders had saved her one last glass to enjoy. It's those kinds of thoughtful touches that made the night so, so special.) Look—catering easily became the most expensive part of throwing our wedding celebration, and we knew that going in. But please believe me when I say that it was absolutely, positively worth it. We feel absolutely blessed by how well MAX Ultimate Food delivered and nailed the brief. It turned a special night into an unforgettably magically delicious one, and we will be reminiscing about it (and that mac & cheese) for years and years to come. Thank you so much.

Sage's enthusiasm and personality was infectious and made my wife and I excited about planning our wedding. The highlight of the experience for us was probably the tasting that took place high up looking over the frozen Charles River. Sage got us everything we needed and more, and it was a great moment for us during the cold winter. The day of the wedding (in June) went smooth with 0 hiccups. Sage was there day of to help us with anything we needed.We would ABSOLUTELY recommend her and her team for any event you might want to hav!

The food was incredible, and I got to fulfill my dream of passed mini lobster rolls. We also got a lot of compliments on the chicken shawarma and beef tenderloin, though the big winner was the chocolate wedding cake -- I don't like chocolate cake, but Max's chocolate cake is out of this world. Sage was even able to make a smaller gluten free version to serve to a handful of guests with restrictions. The actual night of the wedding was like a dream -- Bill was wonderful (still grateful for the Angel's Envy, so thoughtful), and Fran was the MVP who absolutely made our nights. Thank you Sage, Bill, Fran, and MAX for everything! We couldn't have asked for more.

At the tasting, she very thoughtfully reserved samples of all the different linens and tableware that might fit our theme and colors, and was very meticulous in taking notes with our feedback for the chef. We opted for a plated dinner (mainly to minimize potential food waste) and were able to try a meat, fish, and vegan entree, which ended up being what we served to our guests. Though we did not get a cake through MAX, instead opting for a croquembouche from a local bakery, Sage helped coordinate the storage and serving of our dessert. Our shadow for the evening took great care of us, and we were overall very pleased with our experience.

We even had a "shadow" who was so quick to get us new drinks or appetizers during cocktail hour as we took our professional photos. I can't recommend Max or Sage enough, the guests raved about how delicious the food and drinks were, especially the great touch of having late night bites for the end of the night :)

Additionally, the food was out of this world! I’ve had multiple guests tell me it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding! 10/10 and would highly recommend!

can be extremely stressful. When we saw her during our special day (we were sneaking through the food prep area during some pictures) it was like we were seeing one of our guests. We were SO EXCITED to see her and the hugs just added to the day-of excitement and joy. In addition to Sage being a 20/10, her team was superlative. Every member of her team brought their A game and were so kind and generous to me and my new husband and our guests. In all, everything we could have planned for exceeded our expectations and everything we COULDN'T have planned for (that MAX was a part of) ALSO exceeded our expectations. If you have the chance to work with Sage and her team, do it!

ich had some pink and purple in the dress and she immediately suggested how we could incorporate these colors into the cake. I let her run with it to be a surprised at the wedding as was in love with how the cake came out. The food was amazing and our guests kept coming up to us all night saying how impressed the were with food. The open bar was also well stocked with so many options for our guests also appreciated. I was a little worried when I learned the museum only had one caterer to use, but once we had our tasting, I knew the food/alcohol would be well worth the price. We went with having the salads set at the table before guests are seated and I loved that we did. The salads were so beautiful it added to the table settings and now we have some beautiful detailed photos to enjoy years to come. My MOH was a vegan due to allergies and the Max Ultimate made her an amazing alternative to our veggie plate that she didn’t believe was vegan due to the “cheese” in the Eggplant Rollatini looking to real. Sage also suggested a cake alternative (fruit) so she could also have dessert. During the reception we had a shadow that was amazing even bringing me a tray of lobster grilled cheese which was my favorite hors d'oeuvres of the night. Lastly, I loved that they had late night snacks options. The people who say the couple doesn’t get to eat much at their wedding was wrong for us. One of our wedding priorities was the food and the MOS staff made sure we were well fed and drinks in hand all through the evening.

We knew within the first few minutes of our zoom call with Alexis and confirmed it at our incredibly fun tasting that MAX Ultimate was the right choice for us. She is so easy to work with, super cool, and provided great ideas based on some of our initial menu thoughts. I am a pescatarian and we opted not to have red meat at our wedding - MAX had sooo many vegetarian, fish, and chicken options that kept all of our guests full and remarking on the amazing variety. My mother requested Irish soda bread be added to the bread baskets and (sorry to my Nan but) MAX’s was the most incredible soda bread I have ever tasted. There are truly too many instances of MAX being phenomenal and making the food for our event so bespoke and fun to fit them all in this review. I still cry when I think of how beautiful/tasty our wedding cake was and daydream about a world in which I can plan another event and eat their mini homemade pop-tarts. Trust, if you go with MAX Ultimate to cater your next event you and your guests will thank you. Thank you MAX Ultimate/Alexis!

We had a few guests with very strict allergy requirements, and they were super happy to accommodate those as well. Communication leading up tot he event was always clear, and we could talk things over with them on short notice as new items to review came up. As I'm sure many vendors and caterers do, MAX has requirements for guest placards at the tables if you are doing a full-service dinner, and they will ask for a complete table/guest list leading up to the event so don't be caught be surprise! Beyond a smooth preparation process, their service and food at the event was perfect. As I'm sure a lot of couples are, we were worried about missing the entire cocktail hour taking photos (which did partially happen), but one of the staff was kind enough to hunt us down in the Museum and make sure we got some appetizers before dinner. All of the appetizers, dinner plates, and desserts were a hit. The food was delicious, and the serving was right on time with the *rough* schedule of events for the evening. Of course it is a sample size of one, but we had an incredible experience with MAX from planning to event execution.

Bill was willing to work with us as we navigated downsizing (and then inevitably "upsized" our wedding as we approached the date) and never pressured us to feel like we needed to get him decisions. We were a bit last minute with some of our decisions (like table arrangement, linen decisions, etc.) and Bill was very excellent at sending us friendly reminders, suggestions and making sure we were fully on board with choices. The food was tasty and they were really great at accommodating the many food allergies our guests had. People are still talking about the carrot gnocchi that was a side to one of the dishes at our wedding!

Not only were they creative with the space, but they were extremely thoughtful and innovative while creating a COVID-safe environment (ZERO cases of COVID after our wedding). They were true professionals, incredibly friendly, and the food was amazing! We received endless compliments from guests! Not to mention, we had some guests with severe gluten allergies, and they were very diligent with mitigating any cross-contamination and labeling all of their dishes. They would be my first recommendation to any couple planning a wedding or event!

We also had them hire the lighting company as well as the furniture rentals. Everything came together perfectly. Not only were they fabulous with the food, and drink, but they also assisted with planning the entire evening. What a great company to work with! Post wedding, so many people raved about the food and the cake. Could not have been more pleased!
