McRaven Ballroom

Based in Jefferson City, MO, McRaven Ballroom offers dance lessons specializing in wedding routines. Owner Larinda McRaven has been a professional ballroom dancer for more than 30 years and brings a deep knowledge of the subject to her lessons. She is adept at working with students of all skill levels and will ensure your experience is both fun and instructive. Whether you’re looking for a modern freestyle or a traditional romantic waltz, this teacher will choreograph a dynamic performance to wow at your reception. Larinda first fell in love with her passion when she was studying at Missouri State University and met a ballroom dancer by happenstance. From the first moment he showed her the “rock step cha cha cha” move, she was hooked. Over the course of her career she has won over 200 professional titles, including North American Professional Champion, Triple Crown Circuit Champion, and World Professional Finalist. After touring all over the world, she returned to her home town and in now based out of Jefferson City. She still travels to coach, choreograph, and judge competitions, and was awarded the highest classification, “National Adjudicator”, by the National Dance Council of America. She is the new owner of the Gateway Dancesport Championships, a prestigious ballroom competition with 35 years of rich history. For your wedding needs, McRaven Ballroom will choreograph dances for you and your partner or you and your parents. If you don’t have music picked out Larinda will help you find songs that are the right tempo and mood for your routines. In the lessons with her she will give you pointers to ensure you light up the dance floor with grand entrances, dips, lifts, twirls, and more. This instructor is also available to coach your wedding party in a group number that will dazzle your guests on the big day.
