Melanie was taking pictures while we were getting ready in the hotel room, during our first look, and during the wedding. She captured the whole day perfectly and I am so unbelievably happy. I started researching photographers immediately after we got engaged. There are only 52 Saturdays in the year so I wanted to be sure we got who we wanted. :) My husband and I are from San Francisco but we got married in San Diego. I looked into 20+ photographers in the San Diego area, contacted 10+ and saw lots of work by many talented photographers in Southern California. I ended up narrowing it down to 2 amazing photographers, and chose Melanie Duerkopp from SF for many reasons. She was the first wedding vendor we locked down, and I'm so happy we did! Melanie's work is natural, she has lots of experience, is well known in San Francisco, and she is genuine with an awesome personality. Most importantly, she was extremely patient with my million questions before we officially booked her and promptly responded to all my emails, which I really appreciated. She traveled down to San Diego prior to the big day to scope out our wedding venue to get ideas on where to do the first look, family photos, get a feel for lighting, etc. I was worried our rained-out wedding day photos wouldn't be as nice as I had imagined since we had planned an entire outdoor wedding, but both Melanie and her second shooter, Stephanie, managed to capture some breathtaking photos of important moments in the middle of all the craziness of the big day! They captured beautiful magazine-style photos (see for yourself in the link below), paid attention to all the little details I spent months planning, didn't miss any important moments throughout the day, and even got shots of details and guests I never saw!
