Melanie (and her team-Sam!) exceeded our expectations beyond all measures. From the very beginning, Melanie was warm and open, professional yet intimate with her work which is what dragged us in for the long haul. As we were planning a wedding from miles and miles away (Texans planning for a New York wedding), Melanie made the process so easy yet fun. She was always quick to answer any texts and calls, and was also quick to jump on a video call to answer my many, many questions- because of this, she made all wedding-induced anxiety go away. Fast forward to the big day, and I still have tears that immediately take over when looking at those moments- all happy tears, of course. Melanie captured some of the most beautiful photos I could have ever imagined, all while going above and beyond to get the perfect shot. Her creativity made the day fun, generating photos we would have never thought to take, which we now have to look back on forever. From the early morning hours to the very end of the night, she not only captured these moments, but provided such an immense amount of guidance and support throughout the entire day. From helping me with my dress, to reminding me to not forget important items, to making sure I wasn't overheating with a small fan between shots- it may seem small, but it was a memory I will hold forever. If I could redo this day over again, I would, simply to spend another day with Melanie and her team. She was always available for a call to discuss our ideas, as well as help us create a shot list for the day. We never felt like a bother when we asked our questions about what to expect. to our engagement shoot, my (now) husband and I were super nervous and feeling self-conscious - we’re not used to being photographed, and weren’t sure what to expect. Melanie immediately put us at ease when we met her and was super understanding - encouraging us throughout the process (eg showing us some of the raw photos in the shoot, which looked amazing!) while also being super receptive to our preferences & understanding of our insecurities (eg there was a piece of hair that I didn’t like that she would help move out of the way if it was showing in photos, she asked me which side of my profile I prefer, etc.) We felt that she had the perfect level of giving us direction (with posing etc.) but also being super receptive to feedback or special asks. On our wedding day, obviously there was a ton of emotions happening and a huge flurry of activity going on - but Melanie was extremely calm and flexible through it all. I cannot state enough what a difference that made throughout craziness from other vendors. My bridesmaids and I were running late to the venue — no problem, she did shots with the groomsmen instead! The weather was iffy, we knew that she had a backup plan in place for indoor photos. She really went above and beyond in preparing; for our detail shots (invite suite, shoes, etc), she wanted some loose flowers & greenery to elevate the look, which the florist typically has on-hand. Just in case they didn’t, Melanie brought her own flowers (in our colors!) and greenery from home so that we would be sure to have that perfect shot. I was really touched by that; she clearly cares so much about her craft and does a truly excellent job. Beyond the beauty of the photos aesthetically, what made us book Melanie was her ability to really capture the emotion of a moment. Pictures of my “first look” with my dad, photos of my husband & I gazing at each other as we walked down the aisle — what she captured was so immersive and so genuine, and I’m so glad those memories were able to be so perfectly encapsulated in our photos. As an added bonus, we got a sneak peek of around 100 photos less than 24 hours after our wedding — talk about dedication!! All this to say, we could not be happier with the photos (which came out absolutely beautifully) or the experience, both of which set Melanie apart. Even my parents, bridesmaids, etc. were commenting on how great Melanie was during the wedding (even before they saw the photos! Which they then gushed over as well) All in all, we could not imagine a better photographer and recommend her highly.
