We prioritized authenticity and fun for our wedding, and Kara helped us more than we could ever have hoped! We decided to split our engagement shoot into half-engagement, half-boud...
oir - which, having met Kara for the second time the day of the shoot, could have been super awkward! But Kara has an authentic, genuine nature to her that puts you at ease immediately. We were able to be our real, goofy, madly-in-love selves around her, almost forgetting she was there! The engagement/boudoir shoot really cemented for us that we could trust Kara to capture our wedding day and everything that was important to us about it, and WOW did she ever deliver! She even helped me get into my dress! Thanks to Kara, I have over 1000 photos of the happiest day of my life, which I regularly scroll through on random days just to remind me of the magical day she helped us create.
We couldn’t be happier with our experience working with Kara for our wedding!! From the very beginning, she was incredibly easy to communicate with—responsive, organized, and truly...
listened to what we were hoping for. On the day of the wedding, she was calm, patient, and such a reassuring presence. She made us and our families feel comfortable, which really came through in the photos.
The pictures themselves are stunning. She captured a perfect balance of formal portraits and candid, documentary-style shots that brought the entire day back to life for us. Every image is beautiful and full of genuine emotion.
We also want to mention her assistant photographer-she was absolutely wonderful to work with on the day of the wedding. She blended in seamlessly, was kind and professional, and helped capture even more amazing moments. The photos from both of them turned out beautifully.
Everything was delivered quickly, and we are so incredibly happy with the final gallery. We’re so grateful to have had Kara as part of our day and would recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for a talented, reliable, and truly kind wedding photographer!!!
Kara was an absolute delight to work with and we're so happy we went with her as our wedding photographer. When we were initially shopping around she provided us with a super detai...
led info guide with pricing, sample timelines, and FAQ’s even before chatting with us. After talking to her, we knew she was the right choice because of her friendliness, photography style, and overall vibe.
We are both camera shy but Kara really knew how to open us up. Working with her felt so natural and easy, and she was super encouraging about everything. During the engagement shoot she suggested ideas for poses and things for us but never forced us to do them if we didn't want to. We ended up going with pretty much everything she said though since she had great ideas and vision. She also made sure to bring out our personalities and interests (such as goofiness and love of arcade games) to capture us in a truly personal and authentic way.
That ease extended into the wedding day itself. We worked with Kara and her assistant Brittany, and both did a great job capturing moments and wrangling us throughout the day. Although we had a very detailed schedule for the day, we didn't realize how easy it'd be to get off-track from it but Kara and Brittany rolled with the punches and didn't force us to stick to our schedule. For example, we had lots of friends and family coming up to us for photos during a block where we had planned on doing private photos, but they adapted and worked it into the day while still finding plenty of time later for private photos.
We've only gotten the sneak peeks so far as our wedding was just a few weeks ago, but we know the full album is going to be amazing, given how our engagement photos turned out. We cannot recommend Kara enough. She’s super personable, professional, and will go above and beyond to incorporate your requests in, and working with her was such a fun and stress-free experience.
Kara was professional from the intial meet and greet FaceTime call through engagement photos and she was an absolute godsend on wedding day! She is funny. She is patient. She has a...
n attention to detail I have rarely seen in wedding photographers.
I am so happy we opted for a second shooter. Brittany was able to catch every other angle that Kara didn’t get and she was like Kara’s other hand. She knew exactly where to be and when.
My photos are gorgeous! I can not say enough good things about working with Melian Photography.

ul story through the dreamiest shots. Not to mention, she’s also an awesome human 😊 When I first met with Kara, it felt like I had known her for years and I knew immediately that I needed to have her capture my wedding day! I’m here to tell you, book her! You will absolutely not be disappointed. I was looking for a timeless, vintage, and dramatic feel for my photos and that’s exactly what Kara delivered. She has a true gift of being able to capture moments in time that emanate so many beautiful emotions. Every time we look at our wedding gallery, we are transported back to our favorite day with our loved ones. Make the investment - not only will you receive stunning photos, you’ll gain a friend who values capturing special moments in life that you’ll be able to treasure for years and years to come.

king for - documentary style with an artistic flair but also beautiful portraits and posed photos. I looked at A LOT of photographers but stopped searching when I found Melian Photography.
Kara knocks it out of the park on every aspect. Her beautiful photos speak for themself, but she is also very communicative, organized and helpful when it comes to the preparation and planning of the wedding day. She created a photo timeline and worked with our day-of-coordinator to make sure things would run smoothly.
Kara is an amazing, down-to-earth person who will make you feel comfortable behind the camera. She is also adventurous and down to try fun things to get great shots (smoke bombs!)
Also worth mentioning, our wedding was postponed from 2020 to 2021 due to COVID and she moved our date without issue.
I can’t say enough great things about Kara and Melian Photography! Just book her now, you won’t be sorry.

of the walls of our home with her beautiful photos. She was an absolute pleasure to work before, after and during our wedding and I cannot recommend her enough!
Kara is absolutely brilliant at her craft! Our engagement photos were stunning, and the sneak peeks that we have from our wedding that was just a couple days ago are jaw-dropping! ...
We hit the jackpot with having Kara as our photographer. She did so much more than capture our day—she provided us the timeline for our day (which was huge given we didn’t have a wedding planner or day of coordinator), she calmed our nerves the day of our wedding, and she helped curate special memories while we were having our couples photos taken (for example, we did some pics in a canoe and it was an adventure I’ll remember forever). She and Brittany (Kara’s second photographer for the day) were punctual and professional, adaptable, and kind. Our day wouldn’t have been the same without them!
Where do I even begin? Kara, at Melian Photography, is simply amazing. She has a true eye for photography, and really knows how to capture people's personality in her photos. I hav...
e worked with Kara during my own engagement photo shoot and at my wedding, (and several of my friends have worked with her for their own photo shoots, as well) and I am truly blown-away every single time I see the finalized images. Her work is simply amazing! Plus, she is one of the most kind and genuine people I've ever met. I would recommend Kara for ANY photos you are looking to have captured. You will not be disappointed!

s UNDENIABLY talented, her work speaks for itself but in addition to that she is an amazing human and is TRULY A PLEASURE to be around.
She will listen to what you want, she will help you with any and all questions leading up to and during your booked time with her. Her calm demeanor is amazing when you need that, but she can be spontaneous and adventurous if that works for you! She will make everyone being photographed feel so comfortable and she has a way of getting those natural expressions and especially the smiles you will be so happy were captured !!
I will never hire anyone else for any professional photos I ever have taken because she is simply amazing at what she does!!
