A special thank you to Jenna, the venue manager—she is absolutely amazing! She was incredibly helpful, organized, responsive, and truly went above and beyond throughout the planning process and on our wedding day. Her kindness and attention to detail made everything feel so much less stressful, and we always knew we were in great hands.

Melrose Abbey is a historic church wedding venue in Midtown Kansas City, near Westport and the Country Club Plaza. Dating to 1922 and beautifully restored in 2024, this 24,000-square-foot venue brings your ceremony, reception, and overnight stay together under one roof for up to 200 guests, with four boutique hotel suites sleeping up to 24.
THE CHURCH WEDDING YOU’VE PICTURED
If you have always imagined marrying in a church, Melrose Abbey gives you the setting without requiring church membership. Walk down a genuine center aisle beneath a soaring 35-foot domed ceiling, original stained-glass windows, Gothic arches, a full balcony, and a magnificent 12-foot crystal chandelier. It is a sanctuary on a scale no ballroom can imitate and a ceremony backdrop unlike anywhere else in Kansas City.
YOUR CEREMONY, YOUR TRADITIONS
Bring your own pastor, priest, deacon, or officiant. Traditional and personalized ceremonies are welcome, including communion, unity candles, processionals, and the faith, family, and cultural traditions meaningful to you. Religious, interfaith, cultural, and secular weddings can all feel at home here. Our team supports the details while your traditions lead the day.
YOUR WHOLE WEDDING WEEKEND, IN ONE PLACE
Up to 24 of your closest people can stay on-site in four private boutique hotel suites. Wake up at the Abbey, get ready upstairs, walk down for the ceremony, celebrate on the reception floor, and return to your suite at the end of the night. With the ceremony, reception, cocktail hour, getting-ready spaces, and lodging all in one building, Melrose Abbey offers a rare all-in-one Kansas City wedding weekend.
SEPARATE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION SPACES
Your sanctuary remains untouched while guests move to the balcony for cocktail hour and then to the dedicated reception floor. There is no ceremony-room flip and no need to transport guests between venues. The fully indoor, climate-controlled setting makes Melrose Abbey a year-round Kansas City wedding venue with no rain plan or tent rental required.
WHAT YOUR DAY INCLUDES
Enjoy exclusive use of Melrose Abbey’s event spaces for 14 hours, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., with only one wedding per day. Your rental includes the sanctuary, separate reception floor, cocktail-hour balcony, bridal suite, groom’s quarters, bar, warming kitchen, and a dedicated team supporting you from your first tour through your wedding day.
A CENTRAL KANSAS CITY LOCATION
Melrose Abbey’s Midtown location offers easy access to Westport, the Country Club Plaza, the Crossroads Arts District, downtown Kansas City, hotels, restaurants, and wedding-weekend activities. Local and visiting guests can enjoy Kansas City while remaining close to your celebration.
