arried in Princeton in October 2024. About 9 months before the wedding, I did a hair and makeup trial at Metropolis which was great, so I booked them for my entire wedding party. I emailed them a few times to confirm, but didn't hear back. No big deal, they're busy. Then, six weeks before the wedding, my mom called to confirm and the receptionist told her they were NO LONGER offering makeup services.
I initially thought that she must mean they weren't generally offering makeup services, since there's no way Metropolis would leave me in the lurch on my wedding day and NOT TELL ME as soon as they knew. Nope. When I contacted the wedding services coordinator, she told me they did not in fact have a makeup artist for my wedding day and that I would need to go elsewhere for that.
I was floored. They didn't just cancel my makeup -- they didn't tell me and seemed to have ZERO intention of telling me before the wedding. I immediately booked elsewhere, but because I live out of town, I wasn't able to do a hair and makeup trial with them before the wedding.
I've tried to contact the owner of Metropolis several times to let her know about the issues I encountered, but no one has returned my messages.
Long story short, do NOT book Metropolis for your wedding. Avoid the headaches and go literally anywhere else.

I was really looking forward for my party to be able to get everything hair, makeup, nail etc done in one place but they keep telling me it will be done Friday but its been over 3 months already. I feel I contact them more then the spam I get about my extended Warranty on my car. I get it they have my date saved but I need those kind of things in writing especially for a wedding. I don't mind being told No if you can't do it i 100% understand. I know someone had left in the middle but please don't leave me hanging. Be aware

Tory did an incredible job with my hair, and I was thrilled with CJ's job on my makeup - I don't typically wear a lot of makeup so wanted a lighter look so I felt like myself, and she really delivered. Both asked questions throughout to make sure I was getting what I pictured. I felt like myself, but glowing! I would highly recommend.

would pay for good service, but so many of the salons I had been dealing with were unprofessional. Not being from the area, I was basing my research off word of mouth and wedding websites.
When I finally happened upon Metropolis, it checked all of my boxes. They would come to US on the day of the wedding! We did a trial run and I was happy to see the salon was a clean and professional environment. Everyone was so easy to work with. To book, I worked with Stephanie and Carmela, and Kristie was my fabulous stylist. For my trial, we did two looks that I loved. Kristie assured me that I should take my time to decide, and she was friendly and engaging the whole time.
The morning of the wedding, Kristie and the other stylists came on time and were so fun and professional. They really added to the vibe of the morning and made us all feel at ease. Everyone's hair looked beautiful, and I loved how mine looked - and it held up all day!

All of the looks were personalized to each individual's hair type and style, but they all coordinated beautifully. All of the styles lasted the full day through pictures, the ceremony and the outdoor evening reception without feeling artificial with too much product - in the summer humidity of New Jersey, this is no small feat!
The makeup was also incredible. It, too, was personalized to each of the individuals in my party, but was all in line with my aesthetic and it lasted flawlessly all day. They made us all look beautiful.
I cannot recommend Metropolis highly enough. Both the hair and makeup team were incredibly friendly, flexible, and talented. They listen to exactly what you want and are able to execute flawlessly. I have never looked as good as I do in my wedding photos, mostly thanks to Metropolis!
