Michael J. Charles is an incredible photographer! He was strongly recommended by another vendor and I am thrilled he shoot our wedding day. Michael and Dan are extremely professional, passionate about their work and have a great eye! They were on time with everything which is huge on your wedding day and also engaged with the bridal party and our families beautifully. Our wedding photos are ABOVE and BEYOND our expectations and cannot thank them enough for their work. When we were choosing vendors, the photographer was the most important decision to us. Within moments of talking to Michael, we knew he was the right person for us. He cares so deeply about his clients, truly takes the time to listen to their questions and answer in detail that not only shows he cares but showcases his experience, and his pictures are out of this world. We loved how artistic and beautiful his shots were. They really stand out from any other photographer that we looked at. Leading up to the wedding and during the wedding, he calmed all of my concerns (Even when I thought it would pour on my wedding day). He also has such incredible advice such as the best possible timeline and when to change the temperature of the room to make sure the women's updos wouldn't get messed up from the humidity. Choosing Michael as our wedding and engament photo photographer was the best vendor decision we made throughout the whole process. His attention to detail captured the most important and beautiful moments of our day. He explained to us before our wedding that he wanted to tell a story of our day, and he absolutely did not disappoint. Of all the decisions that went into planning our wedding, hiring Michael was the best choice we made. We became familiar with his work a year prior at a family wedding, and as soon as we got engaged we wanted to make sure that he was the one that would document our special day. We were also fortunate enough to work with him for our engagement shoot at the Museum of Fine Arts, and he was very accommodating to our schedules and helped make what could have been an awkward experience in a public setting a very fun and enjoyable one. We had high expectations for our wedding photos and Michael got them back to us within a few weeks and we could not be more pleased with how they turned out. He has an amazing eye and was able to capture all the important moments throughout the day, and some of his unique night shots are now among our favorites. We are still getting compliments on our photographs and we will recommend Michael to anyone and everyone!

Michael was an outstanding photographer for our Seaport Boston wedding. For our initial consultation, Michael welcomed us into his beautiful home to show us his spectacular portfolio, provide us straightforward and reasonable package quotes, explain his photography philosophy, and answer any questions that we had. We could tell Michael was passionate about his craft – from explaining how he works with lighting to telling us that he likes to get to know the names of all the bridal party members on the day of the wedding. (And he did! All twelve of our attendants and our parents were SUPER impressed with him!) As a mixed-race couple who have taken too many “selfies” where one of us was over or underexposed due to lighting, we felt confident with Michael. His expertise was reflected in his portfolio of other cross-cultural weddings and the know-how he demonstrated through our consultation. Because we were a “Seaport Bride and Groom” and Michael is one of their preferred vendors (props to the Seaport staff for recognizing exceptional talent), Michael included a free engagement session for us that we were able to schedule during our next trip up to Boston. We weren’t initially planning to do engagement photos when searching for a wedding photographer, but what a great perk it turned out to be! It was really useful to work with him before the big wedding day to get comfortable in front of the camera. We ended up loving our photos and were able to use them for our wedding website, save the date, and guest book! Michael was probably our most responsive, reliable, and involved vendor leading up to the wedding and on the day of. He was always quick to answer our emails and follow-up with us to establish a timeline. He remained composed when another vendor we hired dropped the ball with regards to time – which helped me remain somewhat calm when we were running a little late on the day of the wedding. (If only they had Michael’s meticulous attention to detail!) When rain came our way, he made sure to think of alternatives for our first look and when it stopped right before, Michael and his (awesome) assistant ignored the puddles and did whatever it took to get the best shots possible on the World Trade Center Bridge overlooking Boston’s beautiful skyline (the reason why we chose our venue in the first place). Throughout the day and night he kept us on schedule all while being friendly, funny, and professional. He even managed to gracefully coax my husband and I off the dance floor at just the right times (not an easy feat as we both LOVE to dance and didn’t want to miss any good songs…we had a pretty awesome DJ too) for some cool night shots of us with the city lights. It was like having a wedding planner without the extra cost! Michael delivered our gorgeous photos to us within the agreed upon deadline and we couldn’t be happier with the final results. He managed to get stunning portraits that (I think) could grace the pages of a magazine, great group shots, and he captured the amazing energy of the dance floor. I smile every time I look through the photos. He also produced a beautiful slide show set to music. His work and his assistant’s work are just exceptional. We’ll have a tough time deciding which photographs we want to feature in our album! In short, Michael’s demeanor is friendly yet professional and his work is artistic and beautiful while also being approachable and timeless. I would highly recommend him!

Michael did an amazing job with our daughter's wedding. He was easy to work with, creative and responsive. He truly created an amazing lifelong memory for our family.

Michael did an incredible job on our wedding photos! We also enjoyed hanging out with Michael throughout the day. He truly added so much to our entire experience. He is very laid back, but also very good at getting everyone organized for pictures. We did not have a specific plan for our pictures and he gave us so many awesome suggestions. We also love that during our reception he got so many awesome pictures of our guests. We had a huge wedding and we are impressed with all the incredible moments he was able to capture!. Michael did such a great job, I loved how personable he was and how he was able to deal with our big wedding party and family and get the job done. Michael was probably my most helpful vendor during this entire process. We chose him as our photographer because he had photographed at both Holy Cross and The Barn at Gibbet Hill before. We met with him so early in our process that he was able to give us advice on other vendors to use! Michael's pictures speak for themselves; they are gorgeous and sharp! My wedding was June 2015 at the Boston harbor hotel. Michael was 30 min early and super energetic and excited to start. He is a gifted photographer with a great personality that makes you feel very comfortable. It was a pleasure working with him. His prices are also more reasonable than some of the other photographers I was looking into. I'm a big picture taker so I knew the photographer was going to be very important. My husband and I are SO HAPPY we hired Michael J Charles to photograph our Wedding Day!!! The photos are absolutely stunning. He goes out of his way to capture the most creative shots and is a BLAST to work with! We felt so comfortable around him, like we had known each other for years, and that is so important when you are trying to "act natural" in photos! His assistant was great at the wedding too and we never felt bombarded. We got the photos back quickly and could access them from an app to share with family AND he put together a BEAUTIFUL slideshow of some of the best shots which brought us both to tears...so special. I was referred to Michael Charles by another photographer who happened to be booked the day of my wedding. The statement "everything happens for a reason" definitely holds true because i couldnt have imagined working with anyone else! Michael is seriously the best and so incredibly talented. My husband and I absolutely LOVED working with him. We decided to do some engagement photos with Michael prior to the wedding. I strongly recommend doing this if it is in your budget, as this gave my husband and I the opportunity to get to know Michael and feel comfortable with him prior to the wedding. He also shared some great tips on how to pose when it came time to take the wedding photos! On the day of our wedding, Michael couldnt have been more professional. He took the time to really get to know everyone in my wedding party and was great about learning everyone's names. He really made everyone feel like they were a part of the wedding! His assistant was also super professional! I really don't have anything but positive things to say about Michael. He is just awesome and I want to get married all over again just so i can work with him! If you are looking for a photographer, Michael is your guy! Even though i have not seen my wedding photos yet, I am sure they are amazing!! I can't wait to get them and show them off to all of my family and friends!! When my husband and I were looking for a wedding photographer, we were very particular. We both have backgrounds in visual arts and photography and didn't want to end up with cookie-cutter, cliche photos, and we certainly did not! Michael J. Charles was not only down to earth, friendly & funny, but also extremely professional. His style of shooting was very artistic and everything looked like it was straight out of a magazine. The images were extraordinary. In addition, he did not miss a single shot. The wedding day flies by, but when we reviewed the pictures it felt like we got to relive the whole thing. I don't even remember seeing him through most of the ceremony and the reception, but then saw the photos and realized that he was there capturing every single moment. He was very discrete. The photos came out so beautiful that I wish I could create more events just so we could hire him again. If I could give any advice to future couples, I would say make sure you hire a very talented photographer to capture your day, and Michael J. Charles will capture it like no other!!! He has a true gift.

Michael J Charles is our wedding photographer. We also elected to do an engagement shoot, to get some casual shots, and capture our home neighborhood. He brought great energy to our (very very very) hot weather shoot day; he helped me and my fiancé to feel relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera. He has been consistently prompt, professional, and enthusiastic about working together, which really has made the process extremely enjoyable thus far. He was also quick to turn around our photos, and we were stunned-- great close-up portraits as well as more artistic shots of our home city. He is definitely a very talented and professional photographer, and we cannot wait to have him capture our wedding day. I am now adding to the above review I wrote about four months ago, after our wedding which was about one month ago. Once again, we are totally and completely thrilled with Michael's pictures, professionalism, and great attitude during the wedding. He was right on time, energetic, and quickly learned the ENTIRE bridal party's first names. He got everybody organized with an easy touch. Throughout the day he was unobtrusive but still managed to get wonderful candid shots, in addition to all the standard formal pictures---also, he really made the most of our venue capturing the beautiful backgrounds (indoor and outdoor). We already got all of our pictures (after just a few weeks), and they are stunning. His photos truly exceeded our expectations. His photos captured our day beautifully and I cannot recommend him more highly.

What can I say! Michael is absolutely amazing. We selected him to play the all important role of photographer for our wedding this past August. From the very beginning of the process he was a pleasure to work with. He answered all of our questions and was a great resource. On the big day, he captured amazing moments for us, made us smile, made us laugh and made even the multitude of posed photos enjoyable (instead of overwhelming!) He felt like part of the family when all was said and done. (We love you Michael!) All of the candid shots were wonderful....AND last but certainly not least, he helped us to capture the entire day beautifully, despite the rain. Of course, every bride wants sunshine on her big day - but we all can't be that lucky. :) It rained the day of mine, but it didn't bother us a bit, thanks to Michael's creativity. One of my favorite shots of the entire day, is an outside night shot, underneath the lights and an umbrella. Breathtaking! Beautiful photos, taken by an incredible person. What more could you ask for on the big day? I highly recommend, Michael. You won't be disappointed. PS. His slideshows are amazing, too! Extra bonus. :)

I recently had my wedding on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the Ipswich Country Club. I hired Michael J. Charles Photography to capture our day and I could not be happier. I saw Michael's work a few years ago because he shot a family friend's wedding. I was not even engaged at the time but I knew without question that I had to hire him when I got married one day and 4 years later, I'm so glad I did. From start to finish, Michael was nothing but exceptional. He was not only extremely professional but just has this nice way about him (and really the reason why I hired him) and you want that kind of person capturing your most personal and memorable moments. I kept getting compliments all night from my guests that kept saying, Wow, you're photographer is AMAZING, he is on top of everything. And for those of you that are wondering, the turn around time for photos is pretty quick. My wedding was on Sunday and he had some images for me by Tuesday. I also received all my photos less than 3 weeks after my wedding and they were FANTASTIC. It is going to be hard to put together an album. Thanks Michael, you rock!
